So it's a holiday, Im feeling good like I want to spend some money. I want a special meal. We have been eyeing this place because its close to some of our regular spots. I decided to pull out dream car #3, put my foot in her and swing by here yesterday because it was a holiday, and we wanted something different. This will likely go down as one of the worst decisions of all 2026. Dont get me wrong, 3.5 stars caught my attention, but finding a place with more than 3.5 stars in the inland empire is basically impossible. We saw the poor reviews, read them and concluded it was mainly a service issue. Let me tell you, its WAY more than a service issue. My first mistake was coming on Valentine's day, it was PACKED. Okay, no big deal however when the food came out disappointment is an understatement. First off they nuked my MR steak it was well done and dry, so after an hour I had to wait again for another steak, mind you im paying 55$ a plate for filet minion and a lobster tail. It comes out looking nothing like the picture. I am livid because at this price point the fact that they burned my steak and served both my steak and lobster in cut up over cooked tiny pieces is diabolical. My lady doesnt like me to be an a$$ to places so I am trying to be cool, but I just dropped 155$ and it was one of the worst meals I have had in immediate memory. Its a holiday and her treat, so I am trying to be nice, and the server, I think she calls herself "Sky" was cool so I didn't want to get upset with her. She brings another steak (in pieces) and it was cooked better but I didnt finish it. It was still terrible, I took the rest home to my dog because shes not as picky as I am. Its the next day and im still HOT, I burned 150+ on this place. I will NEVER be back. If your reading this, go to Benni hana instead. I cant even articulate the level of L this place was the shrimp fried red rice was hard. I didnt even eat most of my food. Just typing this, its reminding me of how much of a L I took choosing this place. Im so angry Ive been festering over this review for 24 hours. read more

Our group of 9 were in Temecula to celebrate my wife's uncle Allen's 88th birthday. We're quite familiar with Shogun, having celebrated family get togethers on several occasions at their original Pasadena location in the past. So why only a 3 star rating from me? After probably a half dozen or more experiences with Teppanyaki grill restaurants, not really a fan of the food. More for show than anything else and a first time for uncle Allen. So that was good but things like our chef not providing much veggies for the rest of the remaining 7 of us, compared to the same amount given to her uncle and aunt was inexcusable. Especially seeing the amounts other same sized parties were receiving. Or the fact that my wife and I got the same bland chicken as others in our party requesting teriyaki, while we had orders of sesame with no sesame seeds or sauce provided. And finally getting the three sad birthday singers and drummer showing up to our table well after they had visited others. Some well after our group's birthday party had arrived. No need for me to visit another Shogun location in the future. My 3 star vote is being a bit generous. A big thank you to my wife's youngest brother Ken and his wife Natalie, for hosting and covering all expenses at Shogun. Gone to this place for a friend's birthday we all have supper checks. There was only me and one other party with me that ate there. The food was good, but not great. Our chef didn't really speak English so you couldn't really communicate with him on top of that. It was very overpriced for two people I spent about $225 with tip or ready, added. if you have money to spend why not definitely have a good time. Always love going to Shogun. We frequently eat here. My go to is the Filet and Colossal shrimp. My last visit I chose the Wagyu Rib Eye and Colossal Shrimp. I also love the butter cake, it is a must. Enjoy the selection of Japanese beer and Saki. Sometimes it takes a while to get your drinks from the bar so make sure to get the bar orders in early. This is the BEST teppanyaki hibachi restaurant in Temecula. They definitely recovered after losing their touch two years ago. Joey was awesome! The only gripe I have is they added some noodle side automatically included with your meal? We didn't want the noodles and didn't like them. Management needs to take them off or at least give you the option to say no. It's a waste of food. Veggies now include broccoli and potatoes?? Same thing not needed. Went to try Shogun happy hour tonight. It was pretty underwhelming, first of all the service is terrible. We were the only people at the bar. And it took us 20 minutes to get a drink. We received all our happy hour food before our drinks, we received no utensils and no napkins. Luckily the chopsticks were in reach over the bar and we got her own. (Maybe she was new). I guess the most positive thing I can say is that the prices were extremely cheap. Everything was four dollars, seven dollars and nine dollars. However, I would not get the fried calamari rings, extremely rubbery and not edible. Do however, spring the nine dollars for the spicy tuna crispy rice roll. Very good. Also another mention is the spicy garlic edamame at only four dollars. What a bargain I might try them again and might try to sit at a different part of the bar, but overall it was mediocre. By the way, be wary of the to go containers, they have holes in the lid, which isn't immediately obvious, so if you put sauce, it runs all over the place. read more

You should have better chef that would communicate more with customers and put on a better show for the customers. Elias never talked to the customers only to find out what they ordered. I ordered chicken and calamari. Chicken was overcooked and dry and the calamari was very salty. Must have had a sale on salt. Food was great. Quality, flavors, and amount were perfect. Nice selection of unique offerings. The hibachi chef was very entertaining and involved in putting on the show for us. You could tell he loved his job amd that made the experience all the better for us as guests. There can be a bit of a wait so I recommend reservations. As a side note, dont eat the entire pineapple if you order the drink that is served in it. Pineapple burns are real. Share the pineapple. First time eating here and right off the bat the table was sticky. Service was good waitress was overworked in her area but she was friendly very polite. Food Food was disappointing I ordered 2 rolls a crunchy dragon and a GO GO Roll. They looked great but they were lacking in any type of flavor. Rice felt overcooked I eat a lot of sushi all over the world and this was the worse I've had. My friend ordered the 10 item Fried Rice with steak. He had to wait almost 45 mins for it. This place has gone downhill disappointed cook didnt even speak English well enough to understand him repeating the order. All of the dishes were regarded as communal property and available to the first interested party within striking distance when assisted by their individual chopsticks. Regularly frequented by @ct_miller19 and @taylormarie_19, "Shogun" offers a large assortment of rolls that ought to satisfy even a large group of diverse palates. We sampled the Shrimp Tempura Roll, GSC Roll, San Diego Roll, Crunchy Dragon Roll, and Crazy Boy Roll. Although each of them provided a unique path to Flavor Town, they all shared a similar fate: complete domination and utter annihilation! In fact, all of the plates they were served on provided almost no evidence of their prior existence. Also impressive to me was the tanginess of the Cucumber Bites, the balanced proportions of the Garlic Edamame, the controlled aggression of the Spicy Mayo, and the tenderness and flavors of the Gyoza (easily the best I've had in the U.S.). You and your crew are free to adopt your own views regarding sushi eating etiquette, but I recommend that you agree to give Shogun a chance to impress you. First time visiting this restaurant tonight, we were looking for some sushi & came across this place. I really liked that the menu was electronically displayed outside the restaurant and the restaurants name was displayed like a video game. We walked in and were asked if we wanted to do regular dining or at the grill. We chose a booth and Hang was our server, she was really nice and friendly. We ordered a few sushi rolls and gyoza and a Donburi bowl. The food was really delicious! I think I ordered too much though lol I was full after only one roll. Very disappointing experience. Sat in the Sushi part of the restaurant. As appetizers we order some sushi selections and karaage chicken. The sushi selections were quite tasty, however the karaage chicken was terrible. First, what was served looked nothing like the picture on the menu. What was served was bits of chicken about the size of pebbles that were dusted, at best, with flour then fried, so they were quite dry. Additionally, the was no seasoning on the chicken. They were not marinated nor was the flour seasoned. After a few bites, I did not finish the chicken. For my entree, I order the New York strip cooked medium rare. The meat that was served was gray through out. Again no hint of any seasoning on the meat. the overall flavor was of a previously frozen then thawed meat. I did not finish the meat. The vegetables were over cooked such that they had an acrid flavor to them. I did not finish the vegetables. The noodles were slightly under cooked, and again, I did not finish them. It is hard to believe that a chef, even a line chef, would put out under seasoned and over cooked food. Further, what was the expediter thinking to allow this quality of food to be put out. What a great experience. First, the lobby when arriving. Greeted promptly, told to have a seat for a moment, very large area to wait. Plenty of room if arriving with a large group. Once seated, servers quickly took drink orders while allowing time to review menus. Food ordering was swift and thorough. Now the FUN part. The chef was AWESOME! Like an emcee at a club, got everyone in the group (we dined with strangers) together to have a good time. Fire , smoke, jokes and good times. Delicious food cooked perfectly. Entertainment and food were good I like this place better than Benihana in Temecula. Chef Jorge did a great job. Our server Charlie was friendly and attentive. We enjoyed our time here. The bill was around $400 with tip for 6 people. The special celebration dessert we got was delicious! I'm writing this review because what happened to me at the Shogun in Temecula was deeply upsetting and completely unacceptable. I dined here on Saturday with three other people. We are frequent customers and have eaten and ordered from this location many times. On this visit, I paid my bill in full by credit card and left the restaurant with my group. Once I was fully outside the restaurant, a server named Jackie, who was not our server and was assigned to a completely different table, ran after me and publicly accused me of not paying. There was no attempt to verify anything internally, no checking of the POS system, and no discussion with our actual server before confronting me. The accusation was made loudly and publicly, which was humiliating and shocking--especially since I had done nothing wrong. When we immediately went back inside to address this with the manager on duty, Ali, we were told she had "just clocked in" and that she "didn't know what to tell us." There was no investigation, no apology, and no effort to correct the situation. We were essentially dismissed after being falsely accused. The accusation was completely false. I paid. There were witnesses. This could have been resolved in seconds by simply checking their system, but instead I was chased outside and treated like I had committed a crime. As a Black woman, being falsely accused of theft in public--without verification--hits differently. Whether intentional or not, the lack of care, professionalism, and accountability in this situation was alarming. Mistakes happen. But how a business handles them matters. Chasing a customer outside, accusing them without proof, and then failing to address it afterward is not acceptable. I hope management takes this seriously and reevaluates training and protocols so this doesn't happen to someone else. Until then, I cannot recommend this location. read more

Shogun in Temecula is an awesome experience. My kid turned 21 so we went here. The food was on another level. We had a feast of appetizers, rolls, and entrees. Our server was a young lady named Hang. She was great. Very attentive, on the ball, and sooooo polite. She's awesome. The place is loud but in a good way. People were enjoying themselves, but you can carry a conversation with everyone at your table. You can see the rolls being made if you're sitting at the bar, and they do have an bocce section where everyone goes around the table and they cook it right there.
