Came here for my birthday (like everyone else, lol, there were at least 10-15 other birthdays during the short time we were there). The server was great, very attentive. My daughter asked for another cherry and she brought a whole bowl. I took off a star for two reasons: 1) the women's restroom was very messy and dirty (clogged toilet, paper towels and toilet paper everywhere). When you go to the restroom right before dinner and this is what you see, it is very unappetizing. 2) our chef was very boring and did the bare minimum, even after I requested a chef who is extra good with kids when I made my reservation. I grew up going to the Shogun in Pasadena, and those chefs knew how to put on a show. The remodel really elevated the ambiance. The wallpaper is beautiful. Back to Shogun again after 6 years. We were invited here to celebrate a birthday of a relative which we had to pay for our own food. It came out to about $50 each person because the tip was already priced in. I had the teriyaki chicken which ironically was the worst part of the meal. The place was very busy and looked elegant and the style with the waitress and cooks were totally different and very fast flowing than the last time I came here. They all were nice and happy. It was a bit hot in there and the cook with the knives we really sweating. If I thought too much about it then it would have grossed me out since he was wiping his sweat on his sleeves which was close to the knives. He did a lot of magic tricks and I think he expected tips because I saw his tips jar with money in it. However no one tipped because most were teens which was a good thing since they forced an 18% tip into the final price anyway without asking. I had a problem with the garlic butter and the jokes about it which was said to be the secret ingredient. As you can see in the pictures it was huge like a cake,! Not healthy at all since it was used for the rice, vegetables, lobster, noodles, chicken, and salmon. (More garlic butter than oil) This was definitely not Japanese style-or Korean style for that matter. When you got Gen restaurant and cook for yourself, you're not throwing garlic butter on everything. I've loved Shogun my entire life. It's always been one of the restaurants I ask to go to for celebrations, and every time I eat there in person, I have a great experience. That being said, I'm consistently disappointed when I order Shogun for takeout or delivery. I understand that delivery can affect things like temperature, and I'm not expecting my food to be exactly the same as it would be coming straight off the grill in the restaurant. But in my opinion, the consistency and quality of the food itself should still be the same. I've ordered the exact same thing from Shogun for as long as I can remember: a filet mignon plate cooked medium. That means pink in the center-- not well done, not undercooked. Every time I eat it in person, my steak is cooked perfectly. But almost every time I order it for delivery, it seems like a completely different quality of food. Today, for example, I spent $50 on a filet mignon lunch through DoorDash, and the steak arrived extremely well done and overcooked. It was dry and honestly just not worth what I paid for it. I know that probably sounds like a first world problem, but it's genuinely one of the reasons I don't order from Shogun more often. If the food was consistent between dining in and ordering out, I would probably order it all the time. There's also another consistency issue that I've experienced with the menu itself. The last few times I've ordered this same meal through DoorDash, the description has said that it comes with both soup and a salad. Every time, I've received the soup but no salad. When I've called about it, I've been told that the lunch portion only comes with one or the other, even though there doesn't seem to be any specific lunch menu or distinction in the description saying that. (I'm always ordering from the steak entrée section) Today, before placing my order, I actually called and spoke with a manager specifically to clarify this. She initially told me the same thing-- that the salad was only included with the entrée portion and not the lunch portion. I explained that the description specifically says it comes with both, and she ultimately assured me that she would make sure I received both my soup and salad. And I did. This was actually the first time I've received the salad with this order. Amazing. But... that experience honestly makes the situation even more frustrating because I shouldn't have to call ahead and speak to a manager to make sure I receive something that is already listed as being included in the meal I'm ordering. It makes it feel like there's an inconsistency in what customers are being told versus what the menu actually promises. I also don't understand why the food itself is so different depending on whether I'm eating in the restaurant or ordering out. I understand that there are different cooks preparing the food in the kitchen versus the hibachi chefs cooking for guests in person, but I don't understand why that should mean the food quality changes so much. If I order filet mignon cooked medium, I should receive filet mignon cooked medium whether I'm sitting at the hibachi table, picking it up myself, or having it delivered. And it's not just the temperature. Sometimes the pieces of steak I receive are so small or look so different that I genuinely wonder if I was given a completely different cut of meat. Other times it feels like I'm getting the worst pieces of filet, while the quality when I eat there in person is consistently so much better. If my food arrives cold because it was sitting in a delivery car, I can understand that. That's part of ordering delivery. But receiving a steak that is severely overcooked or undercooked, or looks like an entirely different cut of meat than what I'm used to getting in the restaurant, is a consistency issue that I feel should be addressed. I'm not writing this review looking for anything. I've already handled today's overcooked steak through DoorDash. I'm writing this because I genuinely love Shogun and have for my entire life, and I would love to be able to order from you guys without wondering what version of my meal I'm going to get or whether I'm actually going to receive everything that the menu says is included. All I'm asking for is consistency. If I'm paying $50 for a meal, I feel like I should be able to expect the same quality and the same items whether I'm eating in the restaurant or ordering it to go. read more

It's 8:02, (they close at 9:00 pm), we ask for 2 at the grill and the host says let me check something. Comes back a few minutes later and says "unfortunately we can't take anymore walk-ins" So we ask what time do you stop seating and he says "8:30 pm, but we seated a few parties and by the time we wait for you to be seated, it will be 8:30" So, it takes 25 minutes in an empty lobby to seat 2 customers? Or you want to wait 20 minutes to see if you can fill a table? What great service!? Way to think of the customer. Makes zero sense. It's now 8:08 and we are driving to Benihana around the corner. We started off with having reservations at 7pm for a birthday. Didn't get seated for 17-20 after 7pm. Then our cook didn't show up to work so we didn't get served till much later. The cook that took over was good and I felt bad cause he had to cover. Food was ok and the noodles didn't have any flavor. It probably would've been fine if we didn't have toddlers with us because we were there so long before our food came out, that one ended fell asleep and one didn't get to enjoy the show. When I'm craving fried rice, this is the place to go. I came here with family and noticed it was quite quiet. I learned that music is no longer played. Usually each teppanyaki chef plays their own music, which I learned to deal with. But I actually enjoy the less chaotic background noise. I personally think it was a good move. The service was great. Our group of 9 were in Temecula to celebrate my wife's uncle Allen's 88th birthday. We're quite familiar with Shogun, having celebrated family get togethers on several occasions at their original Pasadena location in the past. So why only a 3 star rating from me? After probably a half dozen or more experiences with Teppanyaki grill restaurants, not really a fan of the food. More for show than anything else and a first time for uncle Allen. So that was good but things like our chef not providing much veggies for the rest of the remaining 7 of us, compared to the same amount given to her uncle and aunt was inexcusable. Especially seeing the amounts other same sized parties were receiving. Or the fact that my wife and I got the same bland chicken as others in our party requesting teriyaki, while we had orders of sesame with no sesame seeds or sauce provided. And finally getting the three sad birthday singers and drummer showing up to our table well after they had visited others. Some well after our group's birthday party had arrived. No need for me to visit another Shogun location in the future. My 3 star vote is being a bit generous. Our experience at Shogun from start to finish was great. The place looked very nice, Shogun logo all of the place, decorations looked really nice. Clean bathroom, tables, plates etc. Our server was Tori she looked great with her Japanese uniform. Service was also great and even sang traditional Japanese birthday song with tambourine and her partner with drums. Took a family Polaroid picture in the end with a birthday cake that had a relighting magic candle. We had Chef Wes he did a great job entertaining us and cooked some yummy food. From our butter noodles, butter fried rice lots of butter hehe supper yummy tender calamari, juicy scallop. We had the prime rib, new york steak and seafood combo. Just dont ask him about the world cup because he will talk about the lakers lol. We got also got takoyaki, mai tai, half rolls. My family and I had gone on September 6th around 3 pm. The food was alright as usual but when I went to have my leftovers this morning, I realized the shrimp still had its poop in it. Thats unbelievably disgusting and I'm tossing all of our shrimp from the restaurant out. Always love going to Shogun. We frequently eat here. My go to is the Filet and Colossal shrimp. My last visit I chose the Wagyu Rib Eye and Colossal Shrimp. I also love the butter cake, it is a must. Enjoy the selection of Japanese beer and Saki. Sometimes it takes a while to get your drinks from the bar so make sure to get the bar orders in early. Very disappointing experience. It was over 100° outside, and the restaurant was so hot that it was uncomfortable to eat. When I mentioned it to the manager, she said, "The A/C is working, there's just too many people in here." That's not an acceptable excuse. If you can't keep your restaurant at a comfortable temperature when it's busy, especially in the middle of summer, something needs to change. Seems like the quality of food has dropped, the New York steak cut and chicken both weren't up to the flavor standards we received in the past. Last night, me and my husband and our three month old went to Shogun. It was my husband's first time at any hibachi. I was a little bit nervous with bringing a baby in a stroller, but the staff was very helpful. The restaurant was very clean inside they had a really nice bar inside. I also noticed. The service was honestly amazing Cathy was our server and she was very attentive ,fast with getting our drinks and very good with checking up on us.. Wes was our chef who was cooking for us and he was 10 out of 10 amazing. The food tasted amazing. Overall, it was a great night and a great first time experience for my husband. I made a reservation on July 1 for my daughter's Sweet 16 birthday dinner on July 18 for a party of 20. I live in Arizona, nearly a five-hour drive from Temecula, so this wasn't some last-minute plan. I invited 20 people and drove all the way out there expecting everything to be set for our 6:00 p.m. reservation. When we arrived, I was told there was no reservation under my name. The first manager came out and told me they had no record of it and that there was absolutely nothing they could do. They even said I never called. I immediately showed them my call log, which clearly showed that I called the restaurant on July 1 to make the reservation. Let's be realistic--why would I drive almost five hours, invite 20 people to a busy restaurant, and just hope they could seat us without a reservation? That makes absolutely no sense. Then another manager came out, and unfortunately, her attitude made the situation even worse. She was dismissive and rude. She kept insisting that I should have received some kind of confirmation link. I don't know your reservation process--I don't work there. If your employee failed to complete the reservation correctly or didn't follow your procedures, that's an internal issue that should have been investigated, especially after I showed proof that I called. After all of that, we were left standing in the lobby for about 30 minutes with 20 people. Eventually, they came back and told us another party was leaving and that they could seat us after all. While I appreciate that they eventually found us a table, it shouldn't have taken 30 minutes of uncertainty and frustration to get there. Unfortunately, it didn't end there. When we finally got to our table, there were dirty sauce dishes still sitting there--the same dishes we were expected to use. For a restaurant that's usually so busy and well-run, that was really disappointing. What's most frustrating is that this isn't our first time here. We come to this restaurant all the time, which is why I chose it for my daughter's Sweet 16. I expected a much better experience based on all of our previous visits. I honestly don't know what happened this time, but from the reservation being lost, to the way the situation was handled, to the condition of the table, the entire experience was disappointing. Mistakes happen, but customer service is about how you handle those mistakes. I left feeling like no one took responsibility or genuinely cared about making things right. That's what turned an exciting milestone celebration into a stressful experience. read more

Went to try Shogun happy hour tonight. It was pretty underwhelming, first of all the service is terrible. We were the only people at the bar. And it took us 20 minutes to get a drink. We received all our happy hour food before our drinks, we received no utensils and no napkins. Luckily the chopsticks were in reach over the bar and we got her own. (Maybe she was new). I guess the most positive thing I can say is that the prices were extremely cheap. Everything was four dollars, seven dollars and nine dollars. However, I would not get the fried calamari rings, extremely rubbery and not edible. Do however, spring the nine dollars for the spicy tuna crispy rice roll. Very good. Also another mention is the spicy garlic edamame at only four dollars. What a bargain I might try them again and might try to sit at a different part of the bar, but overall it was mediocre. By the way, be wary of the to go containers, they have holes in the lid, which isn't immediately obvious, so if you put sauce, it runs all over the place. read more

The food itself was absolutely amazing as per usual. The ambiance was good as for the decor. At the same time I think they added more cooking stations. It felt extremely cramped. The thing that made me give 3 stars is the following: we were there celebrating our 44th wedding anniversary. My husband ordered the New York steak and asked if he could, maybe have extra vegetables as he cannot eat rice because it makes him sick. They said no. So they brought it anyway. We took it home. I ordered the salmon and fried rice, with the upcharge. I informed them that I am allergic to shrimp. I asked if I could have more veggies. They said they'd give my shrimp to my husband. The cook was very careful to clean the grill so no cross contamination would occur. When it came time for the shrimp he went around the table giving 3 shrimps to everyone but me. That was good but he gave my husband only 3 shrimp. When I pointed it out to the cook he mumbled something and went on to the next thing. I thought for sure my husband would get my 3 shrimp but didn't. And the right thing for them to do is not upcharge me for the fried rice. With everything beings expensive I expected a fantastic experience and that's where they fell short. We didn't order the cheapest thing on the menu. Our bill came up to almost $100.00 with the tip. So it's a holiday, Im feeling good like I want to spend some money. I want a special meal. We have been eyeing this place because its close to some of our regular spots. I decided to pull out dream car #3, put my foot in her and swing by here yesterday because it was a holiday, and we wanted something different. This will likely go down as one of the worst decisions of all 2026. Dont get me wrong, 3.5 stars caught my attention, but finding a place with more than 3.5 stars in the inland empire is basically impossible. We saw the poor reviews, read them and concluded it was mainly a service issue. Let me tell you, its WAY more than a service issue. My first mistake was coming on Valentine's day, it was PACKED. Okay, no big deal however when the food came out disappointment is an understatement. First off they nuked my MR steak it was well done and dry, so after an hour I had to wait again for another steak, mind you im paying 55$ a plate for filet minion and a lobster tail. It comes out looking nothing like the picture. I am livid because at this price point the fact that they burned my steak and served both my steak and lobster in cut up over cooked tiny pieces is diabolical. My lady doesnt like me to be an a$$ to places so I am trying to be cool, but I just dropped 155$ and it was one of the worst meals I have had in immediate memory. Its a holiday and her treat, so I am trying to be nice, and the server, I think she calls herself "Sky" was cool so I didn't want to get upset with her. She brings another steak (in pieces) and it was cooked better but I didnt finish it. It was still terrible, I took the rest home to my dog because shes not as picky as I am. Its the next day and im still HOT, I burned 150+ on this place. I will NEVER be back. If your reading this, go to Benni hana instead. I cant even articulate the level of L this place was the shrimp fried red rice was hard. I didnt even eat most of my food. I loved my fried rice, normally I don't eat fried rice but this time I loved it, it was amazing & the decor here was so pretty! I'd def return here soon! I got the wagyu beef and it was so worth it! The shrimp or something came out bit salty so I let the chef know and he immediately fixed it Lol Chef def was knowledgeable and the music was great!
