However, today was a different story. Number one, we were immediately warmly greeted by Anthony (who was our server as well). He is incredibly kind and knowledgeable. He answered all of my questions and made recommendations. He also was incredibly respectful. The entire place has been remodeled with new everything! The food was so fresh! My husband called at 9:07 pm because we saw that they were open till 9:30 pm and i wanted like small 5 piece of sashimi salmon just to pick up not even dine in, but the lady who answered said it was last call and they are not taking any orders. They don't double rice in nigiri either so you can actually taste the fish. One of the waitress was so sweet and brought out a small dessert treat for my 2 year old as a kind gesture. I love that they asked if my 2 year old was AYCE as well which gave me the option to order her udon soup at half the price of kids AYCE. Having received a rave review from a friend, I took a chance on Sapporo Sushi. Placing my order online and promptly driving to the establishment for pickup, I immediately noticed that the place was PACKED with patrons chomping away at various sushi rolls, edamame, and fish selections. This rose a brow on my face, and raised my expectations for presentation and taste. Having frequently dined on sushi and sashimi in Japan over the course of my life, my standards are quite high to say the least, and Sapporo fell short due to the quality of rice that was used. A definite "show-stopper" when it comes to Japanese cuisine. To further confirm, I had sushi from another establishment simultaneously due them utilizing actual crab vice imitation crab so I had another rice to compare. The atmosphere of the restaurant was similar to a diner or cafeteria due to the close placement of the tables and the noise level. So I must highlight this experience with the fact that there is a photo of a gentleman named Deni I believe who worked for a balloon company who was very proud of his son for winning three competitions. Read on, and you find out. 1- The vibe and overall environment were simple when it came to sushi restaurants. They had open seating and bar seating, but pver all it was, a nice place to grab some sushi. One star. 2- service goes a long way for me, and the team at Sapparo was wonderful, as well as our host, who had amazing suggestions. They were on top of maintaining tables, smiles all around, and sincerely cared for their work ethic. Yep, that goes for the cooks, too. Two stars 3- Creativity with rolls is always looked for and there were a few rolls I had never heard of. One of which was their ceviche roll... honestly we hit it so hard I only remembered to take a photo after we devoured 3/4 of the dish. The spider roll, miso soup etc... we're all delicious. I've been coming to Sapporo for years, but after tonight, I won't be returning. During our final round of sushi, we ordered the baked mussels. The one I ate tasted overwhelmingly fishy--so much so that I had to spit it out. When I did, I pulled a long, blue, net-like string from my mouth. I immediately informed our server, who showed it to the chefs. She later returned and said they all agreed it was "probably a piece of fishing net." Absolutely disgusting. When the check came, our server said they had removed the iced tea from the bill--as if that somehow made up for me nearly swallowing part of a fishing net. That response was shockingly inadequate. Out of curiosity, we looked into their other location in Menifee and discovered it only has a C health rating. Needless to say, I won't be dining at any Sapporo location again. My food came out. 10 minutes later my daughter's food still had not come out. We waved someone down to ask about it. Five minutes later still no food. It was over 22 minutes after I got my food that my daughter got her food at that point she eaten half my food we were just over it. We were just about to cancel her order when her food came out we asked if they could do a discount or anything as it had taken so long to get her food after I got mine and she insisted I eat because mine would've been freezing cold waiting for hers. It was just really uncomfortable and not a good experience. She said no, we don't give discounts. Would not recommend if you want to eat at the same time as the other people at the table. **This review is for only the Murrieta location** We used to absolutely love this place (hence the three stars) but in the last 6 months it's really fallen from grace. The manager is beyond rude, the wait staff struggles with putting in the proper orders and couldn't be bothered for even one refill of your fountain drinks when they are $4.50 each. It's $38 plus tax to eat AYCE and to be honest, I'd rather go to an a la cart sushi place where the service is spot on. Now if you want to get the exact same menu, excellent service and lovely sushi chefs, head up to the Menifee location off of Newport Rd! They are really on top of things there and the experience is much much better. It's our go to place now as we won't be visiting the Murrieta location again. read more

I have been to this place so many times with my wife. This is our favorite sushi spot in town. The food is excellent. We like the how good the quality of food is. We love the service, due to us coming all of the time and the staff remembers us. We always get treated very well. The ambiance is great as well. It's just a small sit down spot which has only one TV, but they are pretty good about turning to an important sports game if asked. I love coming here and we will continue to come here. After covid all the sushi spots locally had pulled their "all you can eat" off the menus, so I had been in search for a place that offered and was going to take a trip to LA, when someone told me about here. I will say their all you can eat is a little pricey compared to LA or SD, it is $41.99. I ordered 3 rolls, and I was so sure I could easily smash those and then some lol, but I couldn't finish.
