Oh no! We stopped by for the AYCE which is overly priced above most places and were left in disgust. We had mostly nigiri and the fish smelled and tasted badly. The shrimp tempura they used in the rolls we ordered were like biting into a piece of rubber. We opted to just pay our way of eating it and risk food poisoning. Such a disappointment! Been going there 5 years and it's been good. Hadn't gone for about a year so we decided to go there for lunch. $49.95 for lunch AYCE food was terrible. The pieces were smaller than normal, barely any fish and stuffed with imitation crab drenched in sauce and looked nothing like the picture on the menu. I ordered the salmon cocktail and it came out with a glob of imitation crab and a small tiny piece of salmon laying on top of it. This dishes is supposed to be little crap wrapped in salmon when I questioned it, I was told it is what it is and not all the food. Looks like what the menu has pictured. My friend and I came home and got food poisoning. I called the restaurant to let them know about us getting sick and they wouldn't talk to us. However, today was a different story. Number one, we were immediately warmly greeted by Anthony (who was our server as well). He is incredibly kind and knowledgeable. He answered all of my questions and made recommendations. He also was incredibly respectful. The entire place has been remodeled with new everything! The food was so fresh! They don't double rice in nigiri either so you can actually taste the fish. One of the waitress was so sweet and brought out a small dessert treat for my 2 year old as a kind gesture. I love that they asked if my 2 year old was AYCE as well which gave me the option to order her udon soup at half the price of kids AYCE. Most places don't tell us they charge for a child her age until they charge us for her eating rice and udon. Nor do they give the option for a child to not be included in the AYCE. Again very kind and upfront! We used to be Gin Sushi loyalist until their customer service went down and they charged us full price for our 2 year old without telling us. Placing my order online and promptly driving to the establishment for pickup, I immediately noticed that the place was PACKED with patrons chomping away at various sushi rolls, edamame, and fish selections. This rose a brow on my face, and raised my expectations for presentation and taste. Having frequently dined on sushi and sashimi in Japan over the course of my life, my standards are quite high to say the least, and Sapporo fell short due to the quality of rice that was used. A definite "show-stopper" when it comes to Japanese cuisine. To further confirm, I had sushi from another establishment simultaneously due them utilizing actual crab vice imitation crab so I had another rice to compare. The atmosphere of the restaurant was similar to a diner or cafeteria due to the close placement of the tables and the noise level. The staff is always nice and friendly, we especially like it when we get Anthony as our mean server he is always friendly and on top of his service game although they all kind of help each other out we enjoy his service the best and that's a huge reason why we return here along with the great sushi. But their standard menu items like chicken katsu curry and oyakodon really shine in terms of quantity, taste, and value. They really earn their five stars as I've never had a bad experience here even when there was a line out the door. Their superior service certainly makes up for any deficiency in square footage. So I must highlight this experience with the fact that there is a photo of a gentleman named Deni I believe who worked for a balloon company who was very proud of his son for winning three competitions. In this moment, he opted to pay for everyone's meal. The big question is... was this the reason for the 5 stars?? They had open seating and bar seating, but pver all it was, a nice place to grab some sushi. They were on top of maintaining tables, smiles all around, and sincerely cared for their work ethic. Yep, that goes for the cooks, too. Two stars 3- Creativity with rolls is always looked for and there were a few rolls I had never heard of. One of which was their ceviche roll... honestly we hit it so hard I only remembered to take a photo after we devoured 3/4 of the dish. The spider roll, miso soup etc... we're all delicious. The hot tea was on point and overall... we left immensely happy. Two stars. Soooo they earned all five stars on their own, I will definitely be back. Thank you Deni and congrats to you kiddo. The best in Temecula/Murrieta thus far for AYCE sushi! Everything was fresh and the rice had just the right amount of vinegar to bring out the flavor of the nigiri. The service was excellent as we were seated promptly at the sushi counter. The wait staff was very attentive as well. One of the best surprise was the crispy and delicious tempura! I've been coming to Sapporo for years, but after tonight, I won't be returning. During our final round of sushi, we ordered the baked mussels. The one I ate tasted overwhelmingly fishy--so much so that I had to spit it out. When I did, I pulled a long, blue, net-like string from my mouth. I immediately informed our server, who showed it to the chefs. She later returned and said they all agreed it was "probably a piece of fishing net." Absolutely disgusting. When the check came, our server said they had removed the iced tea from the bill--as if that somehow made up for me nearly swallowing part of a fishing net. That response was shockingly inadequate. Out of curiosity, we looked into their other location in Menifee and discovered it only has a C health rating. Needless to say, I won't be dining at any Sapporo location again. Do yourself a favor and eat literally anywhere else. read more

**This review is for only the Murrieta location** We used to absolutely love this place (hence the three stars) but in the last 6 months it's really fallen from grace. The manager is beyond rude, the wait staff struggles with putting in the proper orders and couldn't be bothered for even one refill of your fountain drinks when they are $4.50 each. It's $38 plus tax to eat AYCE and to be honest, I'd rather go to an a la cart sushi place where the service is spot on. Now if you want to get the exact same menu, excellent service and lovely sushi chefs, head up to the Menifee location off of Newport Rd! They are really on top of things there and the experience is much much better. It's our go to place now as we won't be visiting the Murrieta location again. read more
