Great sushi fast service we went for lunch and didn't have to wait for a table for too long on a Saturday. Tuna was good !

Let me be fair. I believe it is noble for leaders to protect their staff, especially when dealing with difficult customers. As a leader myself, I also believe it is important to fully understand a situation before passing judgment. My Father's Day experience at Gin Sushi was disappointing, particularly in how a situation was handled by the owner's son. After many years of choosing Gin Sushi to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, and other important milestones in my family's life, I am saddened to say that I will no longer be a customer. I entered the restaurant and informed an employee that I had a party of six. I was advised that my entire party needed to be present before we could be seated. Understanding that policy, I asked whether I could wait at the bar until the rest of my family arrived. I was told that the bar was closed. The response came across as frustrated and dismissive, which left me confused since I was simply trying to understand my options while waiting for my family. I stepped outside and waited. After seeing several parties leave the restaurant, I returned inside and asked whether I could claim a table while waiting for the rest of my group. Again, I was told that I would not be seated until my entire party arrived. The interaction continued to feel unnecessarily tense. Sensing frustration during the interaction, I made a comment to the effect of, "You seem a little unhappy today." I then turned to two of her colleagues, smiled, wished them both a Happy Father's Day, and exited the restaurant to continue waiting for the rest of my party. When my party arrived and we approached the entrance together, the owner's son came out and began addressing my interaction with the employee. During that conversation, I was told that I had insisted on sitting at the bar. That was simply not true. I had only asked whether I could wait there while my family arrived. I invited him to review the security footage. He stated that he had reviewed the video, but that it did not contain audio. I respect the fact that he wanted to support his employee. Every good leader should. However, I found his demeanor toward me to be dismissive and unprofessional. Rather than seeking to understand what had actually occurred, it felt as though conclusions had already been drawn. Perhaps it was simply a misunderstanding. Perhaps it was a difficult day for everyone involved. I do not know. What I do know is that after years of celebrating special occasions at Gin Sushi, I left feeling unwelcome and disrespected. This was my first time at Gin and I brought my mom here for lunch. While Gin has an AYCE sushi menu, we did not come here for that option. So instead, we ordered miso soup, agedashi tofu, seared salmon belly nigiri and three speciality rolls - gin, crunch & spider. The miso soup was okay but a little bit watery. The agedashi tofu had a good taste, but the pieces of tofu were huge. It was not the most refined dish... The salmon belly was good, but it had some unnecessary sauces on it including siracha. The rolls were ok. The Gin roll was drenched/bathed/soaked in spicy mayo. The spider roll also had unnecessary teriyaki sauce on it that made everything sticky & messy. The crunch roll was the best as it was the simplest. This was plenty of food for two people. We even had five pieces of sushi left over to bring home for my dad. The decor inside is mostly plain with some manga inspired paintings on the walls. It was quite busy inside but we were given a nice four top table and Eric took great care of us. One thing I noticed is that our food came out extremely fast. Like lightning fast... almost too fast to be enjoyable. In other words, because of Gin's focus on AYCE sushi, this place is not super relaxing and is more like an Americanized sushi factory. IMO, Eric's friendly service & positive attitude was the best thing about Gin. Also, there is plenty of parking in the lot. Peace. read more

We don't go out to AYCE often but decided this time to go and enjoyed our meal there. We felt like the portions and quality were pretty good. For all you can eat, this is a good choice to consider. Arrived with party of 6 at 2pm on Sunday & seated immediately. --Interior Very cool anime decor & posters on the wall. Plenty of tables around for both small & big parties. At the time we arrived, decent amount of people inside. --Service Very energetic & friendly server. Checked on us often to take orders, & the orders themselves came out fairly quickly. AYCE price was about $38 which isn't too bad, but we opted to just order rolls individually. --Food Highlights King Salmon Roll (5/5) I'm a big salmon lover so I ordered the King Salmon, which had no rice & was just salmon sashimi wrapped around imitation crab. Everything you would love in a roll as a salmon fan. Baked Scallops (5/5) Baked to a warm temp with tender scallops packed with a lot of flavor. As for the nigiri, I didn't feel like there was too much rice in the servings which is a plus. For birthdays they also give you a serving of mochi ice cream as the finisher. --Overall Decent spot for sushi with quality fish around the area. Awhile ago I wrote that my first attempt to dine at Papafet, which is located on the other side of the building, was closed that day, and my more than acceptable substitution was GIN Sushi. This is my glowing review of that rushed, but pleasurable experience. Over the years I've generally leaned away from AYCE sushi restaurants. There's always a compromise, typically in portion sizes, appearance, menu options, and worse, quality or freshness. Not so here, I'm happy to report. The AYCE price was commiserate with quality, very much so. Perhaps some limitations or limits on certain items but in reality the spectrum of choices, be they nigiri sushi, hand, or cut rolls, I got my money's worth. I had less than an hour for lunch, but the server was great about expediting my order (two rounds), and brought beer and water quickly. A couple of appetizer choices always appeal, namely baked Mussels and gyozas. Both were very good, especially the mussels. The latter were fresh and had a well-made sauce. Two cut rolls are typically all I can eat solo, and both came out well-prepared and garnished to great anesthetics visually. Taste was also fantastic. Was I really at an AYCE place? My final round saw me trying a few favorite sushi options including the tuna (fresh and good texture), the salmon (marbled and fatty), seared salmon, and Hamachi. While I was unable to return during my work in Temecula, I'd gladly return for another meal or three. Well done! read more

Went here last week with my wife and child and forgot to write a review. The restaurant is located in a bit of a weird spot and the inside is clean but it could use more lighting. The wall art was very interesting and the servers told me it was hand painted. The service was fast but it did take a minute for the food to come out. My wife liked the yakisoba noodles as did my son but neither of them cared for the teriyaki chicken it came with. I got the all you can eat sushi and for the price it's a good deal. We had to ask a server for the check because nobody was checking on us and we were already waiting for anyone to come by. Then when we tried leaving the older lady literally jumped in front of us telling us to pay when we already did. And then looked at the table to see the check obviously already paid for. I'm giving 2 stars because the customer service was fine & inside looked nice that of typical sushi restaurant, but that's about it. I have to agree with the other most recent review less than a month ago, sushi didn't meet up to good sushi standards. This was the closest & only Sushi place open on New Years Eve which was also a Sunday, so we didn't have better options. Brought 4-5 rolls home and started eating them and they all tasted bland & were falling apart. The baked one especially disappointing, I now realize it was tad bit empty for being New Years Eve. This restaurant advertise all you can eat sushi, beware people I recently went for lunch expecting "all you can eat" at a set price of around $30. I was giving the menu where you tik off the items you want which my associate and I filled out. It was a shock when the bill came as we were charged for each item separately. After seeing the bill and questioning it, the waitress stated, oh, you didn't say you were going for "all you eat". I find this explanation outrageous and a bit of a con. So beware people , they don't explain this properly when you arrive. The food was good but $150 for all you can eat was a bit of a shock. read more

This place is my favorite. Anytime someone asks if I want sushi, I can only think of Gin. You are greeted warmly, and even though it's not a huge spot, it is truly worth any wait time. As soon as your order, you wait at minimum, 5 minutes before at least one roll on your table. And the rolls are incredible. My go-tos: - gin roll - seared salmon belly (LITERALLY THE BEST) - ceviche roll (so much seafood for the price!) And the prices are amazingly affordable. Everyone is so kind and so attentive. The vibe is very much, with family. And I love it. Oh. And if you go in for a birthday, the entire place is singing to you. They blast a birthday song through the whole store! This used to be my go-to lunch spot while our and about with my daughter. Not sure if the owners changed or something changed with the menu, but it is not the same as it was a few years ago. The fish on top of the sushi was actually dry and the green mussels are nothing like it used to be. They weren't cleaned (had seaweed coming out of it and it was just some type of sauce placed on top. I remember it used to be more like dynamite mussels and very tasty. Gin sushi is amazing! My wife gets the all you can eat sushi and I get the teriyaki tofu. I'm obsessed! Also you get salad and miso with it for 13$! I also love the deep fried veggie roll. Their service is fast and efficient, all the servers help eachother and it's nice to see such a team oriented atmosphere. We have been about 3 times, and plan to come here more often. read more

We've been loyal customers of Gin Sushi for years because the fish is always so fresh, and it's usually one of our favorite spots in Temecula. Unfortunately, our most recent visit was disappointing because of the service we received. My daughters and I ordered the All You Can Eat sushi, and my 10-year-old son ordered a sushi roll and a hand roll from the regular menu. Before he even took a bite, our waitress told us that if he ate anything from our plates, he'd be charged for All You Can Eat as well. We completely understood and immediately took back the one piece of sushi and gyoza he was about to try. We even ordered him his own gyoza. Later, when our hand rolls arrived, I noticed mine (ordered from the All You Can Eat) looked different from my son's -- even though they were the same roll on the menu. The waitress explained that the sushi chefs purposely exclude certain ingredients for All You Can Eat orders, which surprised us since the menu doesn't mention this. She kindly offered to bring the missing items, and we appreciated that gesture. A few minutes later, a male employee (who we later learned was named Steve) came to our table and, instead of calmly clarifying the situation, abruptly asked with attitude, "What's the problem?" He repeated what the waitress had already explained but with an unprofessional tone and poor body language. When I asked if the menu stated that All You Can Eat rolls are made differently, he admitted it didn't. We simply wanted clarification, not conflict -- but his demeanor made the situation uncomfortable for all of us. After that, the waitress avoided our table, and we felt unwelcome for the rest of the meal. Toward the end, when I asked about ordering a spicy chicken bowl to go, the same male employee mocked my question and responded sarcastically. His attitude throughout our visit was uncalled for, and it left us disappointed and honestly heartbroken. We used to love Gin Sushi and would recommend it to friends, but this experience really changed how we feel about coming back. If Steve is the manager or owner, I truly hope he reflects on how this kind of treatment affects loyal customers. Gin Sushi has great food -- but respect and kindness should always be part of the dining experience, too. read more

Ordered some sushi to celebrate tonight. Inside was clean, and it seemed very busy. Placed the order online for pickup. We ordered the Godzilla Roll, Queen Salmon no rice roll, 8 salmon sushi, Miso soup, and spicy scallops. The food tasted good and was fresh. I love trying different no rice rolls, so next time, I'll try a different one. The side of ginger was measly for how many rolls we ordered. Miso soup was hot and tasty. Unfortunately, I'll never come back here.. been here many times over the years but only a handful of times since the son of the owner took over which was about 12-2013 I believe, he seriously has the worst customer service and zero communication with his staff, I truly hope they just hire a well mannered and experienced manager to run the place. it would run a whole lot better. He's very condescending, arrogant and rude. Any issue that arises is and will always be the customers wrong doing or his staff is to blame. Awful customer service Was talked down by a male employee like a child because of some leftover rice that would fall off the sushi rolls. I believe he is the manager, sits behind the counter. He raised his voice at me in front of all of the other customers prohibiting me to order any more rounds in the all you can eat sushi. I said I ate it all, and he accused me of hiding rice between the plates. All for rice that would cost 10 cents, for the $180 meal I paid for my family and I. We are not wasteful people, and ate everything he ordered. We said that the only parts that were on the plate were some parts of rice that would fall and he quickly responded back with "then don't order all you can eat, you're lucky we didn't charge you for that extra rice".
