I had an extremely disappointing experience here and will not be returning. The service from our waitress, Sasha, was beyond unacceptable--she was incredibly rude, had a terrible attitude from the moment we sat down, and made us feel completely unwelcome. To make matters worse, we came in for Sunday brunch and were the first customers of the day, yet they were already out of two of their main dishes. How does that even happen? After dealing with the poor service and limited menu, we decided it wasn't worth staying and chose to leave. However, despite us not ordering any food, Sasha had poured us coffee and still charged us for it, which felt completely unreasonable given the situation. First time trying this place and it was too bad that it was raining, especially celebrating birthday there. We had reservations at 1130, but got there around 11 and they were able to seat us. There aren't any kids breakfast options like pancakes. They had cinnamon French toast(but my kid did not want cinnamon). We ended up getting grilled cheese with fries. for my daughter. I was going to go with the eggs your way plate but decided on the farm quiche last minute. They have seasonal drinks, so I decided on that one. It happened to be pomegranate lemonade. We were served water and our drinks came shortly after. My friend got the eggs Benedict. Our meal took a very long time, about 30 minutes. Our sever then came around and apologized for the wait and said that the quiche was taking long since they were making it bigger than usual. I wish I had gotten a heads up on that, since I was on a time crunch and would have ordered something else. Eventually, our meals came out. My quiche was like a pasta and it was good. I like the chorizo. My friend was less than impressed with the eggs Benedict. We also had the 20 layer lasagna, it's now a huge tower like you expact, it ends up looking like a regular lasagna but it's good. The butter cake is a standout too. So tender and not too sweet. A great start, furthered by table setting with heft and visual pleasure - not the usual restaurant supply dreck. Service was warm and efficient. Continuing attention to such details would have made this an easy five-star. A theme: The base material they are working with is great. The kitchen work is less stellar - or it was *this* time. The hamburger meat was meaningfully above average, rich and tasty, with a nice fire-char flavor. It would have been even better if it were medium-rare as requested, rather than a bit past medium. More egregious was ignoring my request for the bacon to be very crisp ("If it is the burned pieces pushed to the back of the grill, that would be fine"). Again, the base material, the bacon, was of excellent quality, diminished only by prep that was not to spec. (I recognize that some will observe that if it were cooked to my spec, the quality would not have been discernible. I don't agree, but understand the point.) There was one more iteration on this theme. The fries had good flavor and texture, clearly freshly prepared with good potatoes. However, if they had been crisp as requested rather than slightly underdone, they would have been much better. As the meal was on Boxing Day, immediately after Xmas, the kitchen may not have had its usual staffing. The place has a high standard for the servers and supplies, so these kitchen mishaps may be anomalous. I will give them another try and suggest you do as well. read more
