I HAD THE BEST FISH OF MY LIFE HERE! The photo might not do it justice, but holy moly - I seriously had a life changing moment eating the striped bass here. It was cooked to absolute perfection with the bones separating right off to indulge to the fullest extent. They tell you it takes 30 mins to cook, which is well worth the wait. The skin was perfectly crispy and the seasoning was to die for. The meat was juicy and I couldn't stop eating it alongside the garlic yogurt. It also came with a side of chickpeas and summer squash. The cocktails were a nice break away from all the wine in Temecula - but I wished the drinks would be punchier and more creative. The charred cauliflower was a nice order, though it was too "raw" and therefore dry. I think it'd be better lightly fried to lock in some juice. Service was fantastic, especially as the server is the one that pushed us to get the fish. The ambiance is fantastic; we stayed inside but the outside is beautiful. This place was ok. Basic farmhouse decor, a bit loud inside, a mix of high top and regular tables. Felt more like a coffee shop inside save for the louder music. Outdoors was cute and had misters. Their menu is fairly small. I got the pear and walnut salad with chicken added. The dressing oddly had no acidity, it tasted only like oil. It cost around $30. My boyfriend got the short rib, after asking the server if it was a substantial serving ($55) The server pointed to a bowl and said it came in a large bowl like that and was plenty. However it was a small serving ringed by carrots that arrived in a large bowl. My bf was disappointed by this. My kiddo got the burger which was large ($27 I think?) and enjoyed it, and we got two mocktails (I actually don't know if they charged less than the alcohol price for those) which were ok. I was unimpressed by this place. I came here from san diego bc of all the pictures of good food! Especially the octopus! Its too bad I came for brunch. I got a lox bagel and 4 huge pieces of smoked salmon with capers and a side of avocado a few days ago in Vegas on the strip and that was 16$. Sooooooo... how is this justifiable? Anyways, I also ordered a diet coke and they came out with a mini can. Talk about why this place is called "small" barn. Lol! The server stated the can is super small bc its only 2$. Thats just silly. Just get the bigger can and charge me 3 bucks for it. Thats fair in my humble opinion. 4$ for two mini cans is wonky to me. Alas, these are not the reasons why this place originally got a 2 star from me. It was the tomatoes on my avocado toast. They taste spoiled, old, and mushy. It made my stomach hurt a bit. Absolutely the best Bloody Mary I've had in a while. I came in after a Spartan Race, starving and ready to eat everything in sight--and this place delivered. Not only was the Bloody Mary on point, but the food was incredible. We started with the ahi tuna, which was fresh and flavorful. This was at noon on a Sunday. I booked this reservation very last minute and thankfully, there was room available. This location is right in downtown and very busy. Hostess checked us in and sat us inside, as I requested. I admired the contemporary but rustic architecture. Truly feels high end and farm like. Our server was friendly and gave us our menus. I was going to go with the eggs your way plate but decided on the farm quiche last minute. They have seasonal drinks, so I decided on that one. It happened to be pomegranate lemonade. We were served water and our drinks came shortly after. My friend got the eggs Benedict. Our meal took a very long time, about 30 minutes. Our sever then came around and apologized for the wait and said that the quiche was taking long since they were making it bigger than usual. I wish I had gotten a heads up on that, since I was on a time crunch and would have ordered something else. Eventually, our meals came out. My quiche was like a pasta and it was good. I like the chorizo. My friend was less than impressed with the eggs Benedict.
