First time here! We were looking for a nice and cozy place to (post) celebrate our wedding anniversary. Hubby yelped one at Old Town and this came out. We ordered the octopus appetizer, Brussel sprouts, wedge salad, filet mignon that melts in your mouth! You can tell how good the quality of the meat is; a nice bottle of Chardonnay. Overall the foods were flavorful! Service was good given there's only one bartender and one server. The ambiance is very interesting with "archived" vinyls and books hanging on the dining walls as well as the bathroom stalls. They make you sign a book as the check is presented and you bet I filled up a whole page of compliments. Will definitely come back! read more

We did enjoy so many of their dishes, including the charred octopus and sea scallops The wine list is fantastic. It went beautifully with my short rib and gnocchi. This is proving to be a very popular restaurant so I highly recommend you make a reservation. Very kid and dog friendly. Parking is less than a half a block away, very convenient. My husband and I went for lunch but upon arrival they had a DJ playing super loud music. We sat at the bar in the back, farthest from the music and still it was too loud for conversation. What is the point of creating a welcoming, cozy atmosphere to blast music so loud you have to shout to each other . It's not a nightclub. Music should enhance restaurant ambiance not dominate it . We left before ordering because it was just too much. I really hope they get this balanced so we can enjoy a meal there . read more

Went here with friends to celebrate my girlfriend birthday. There was a dj playing great music. The service started out great and then it just slowed down like they forgot about our table of 5 . Drinks took a bit, appetizers took a lil longer and our food was good. No silverware on tables. So, disappointing. He was our host and then we saw him behind the bar. The kitchen needs help. I have given this place two tries. The first time we went there the place was dead. We ordered the bone marrow appetizer, waited over 30 minutes to find out they burnt and were going to cook another. We ended not being able to wait. The next time we order a braised meat and the sauce on it so bitter it made the whole inedible. I will say although the cocktails are delicious and well made. Came here for dinner a couple times and both times the food and service has been phenomenal. Maddie, the host greeted us with a smile and was super welcoming. Our server Jordan was also very accommodating and friendly. I've had the salmon, oysters, steak, and bone marrow. All were very delicious! I can't wait to try other dishes on the menu. Kody, the GM came by to check on us a few times. We really liked the hospitality here. The ambiance was warm and inviting! We decided to try Archive because the reviews looked promising for a newer restaurant in Temecula. Unfortunately, our experience didn't quite live up to the expectations. When we arrived, the restaurant wasn't crowded at all. In fact, the host was sitting at a table behind the hostess stand with friends and didn't notice us walk in. The ambiance was nice and the restaurant appeared clean and modern, but our table was sticky and felt like it hadn't been wiped down properly. Our server wasn't particularly enthusiastic or engaging, although the restaurant does offer a good selection of beer, wine, and cocktails. Overall, the prices felt high for the quality and experience we received. My wife and I shared a steak, which unfortunately had more fat than actual meat. I also ordered a side of garlic butter for an additional charge. We ordered mashed potatoes as a side, but they were more of a purée than traditional mashed potatoes and weren't very impressive. The Brussels sprouts were the highlight of the meal and were quite good. One thing to note is that many sides are priced separately depending on your entrée. Overall, the experience wasn't terrible, but it also wasn't what we were hoping for given the reviews and pricing. While the atmosphere has potential, the food and service left us underwhelmed. read more

We were excited to try the new Archive here in Old Town Temecula. The building is one of our favorites with a grand old charm. We were received by a friendly host and seated right away. She was gracious about where we preferred to sit which always goes a long way with me. It can make all the difference in a dining experience. We ordered our drinks and food. They weren't quite ready for the whole menu to be served yet since some side dishes were not finished yet. But we didn't mind too much because it's a new restaurant and the server was so kind and apologetic about it. We started with the salad, oysters and Brussel Sprouts. We enjoyed them very much. The salad was a little meh but fresh. For the rest of the lunch we ordered the whole Branzino, the Rib-eye, the Filet, and the burger. EVERYTHING was absolutely delicious! We were quite surprised and pleased. The server brought our table some complimentary mashed potatoes and creamed spinach since the sides we would've ordered weren't available yet. Good thing he did! It definitely made our meal complete and they were perfectly prepared. The only negatives were that the food took a bit longer than average to arrive (which they get a pass because they're still new), and they didn't serve any bread which is always appreciated at a higher end restaurant, especially with that long of a wait time. Still, five stars because I will be thinking about their food until the next time. We love Archive and it will be a regular place for our family to fine-dine in the near future. read more

Had such a great time with my family at Archive. We were all very satisfied with our meals and the size of them. Not one person had a complaint. I had the salmon, whatever the white sauce is was sooo yummy. A few people got the wagyu burger and loved it. My uncle got the whole fish and it was huge! There were a couple steaks that tasted amazing and were cooked to perfection. Our server was great! We sat outside on the patio and it is such a gorgeous view. Inside has unique and cute decor, but does not beat the view of the old town and beautiful people passing by. Luckily there were heating lamps above, because it was a breezy evening. My husband and I had date night here last night, and unfortunately, we left extremely disappointed with both the service and the food. I ordered the New York steak, and I have to say, it was absolutely delicious. Unfortunately, my husband ordered the burger, and it was completely burned. The bun was literally black like charcoal, which really took away from the overall experience. It was especially disappointing because the atmosphere was actually amazing. They had a great DJ playing really good music, and the ambiance was perfect for a fun date night. We really wanted to enjoy ourselves, but the quality of the burger and the overall service made it difficult to do so. There is definitely potential for a great experience here because the atmosphere and entertainment were fantastic, but the food quality and service need some improvement. Finally got to try this new restaurant for a valentine dinner. We started with the wedge which was ok I thought it needed more dressing and they forgot to give us steak knives to cut with. My husband ordered the rib eye which was flavorful cooked perfectly and pre-sliced which he loved also he ordered the creamed spinach which he also loved. I ordered the scallops from the starter menu ( was great as an entree, large enough) although I wasn't feeling the veggie option to add to and I wasn't feeling the mashed potatoes that night so I asked for a side of coconut rice, which they gladly accommodated my request which I appreciated. ( Coconut rice came with another dish ) thought it would be good with the scallops and it was they were divine and rice was tasty and they only charged $5 for the small bowl but it hit the spot. My only complaint was the slate board the scallops were served on was a little messy for this dish. Would have preferred a regular plate just a small issue. Good bar and bartenders make a good drink. Ordered charred octopus as an appetizer. I've had it in several locations around the US and this might have been the worst. It's not charred enough for the size of the tentacle. You get a somewhat slimey feel as you eat it. Also, the spoonful of green sauce and sour cream isn't great. Maybe an aoili or something with a little heat would help. The filet was good. Cooked well and not over-seasoned. But, it's served with a chunk of grilled tomato and grilled onion. That's it. As a purist I liked it but, it could've used some grilled veggies with it. I think that's splitting hairs though. It was good. The steak was a 4 and the octopus was probably a 2.4. Lastly, it's not worth the cost. It's expensive for what you get. read more

Welp! Had high hopes for this place. Came up from North County San Diego for a little Father's Day getaway with the family. This place was booked on Father's Day so we decided to make a reservation for Monday instead. It was a quiet night when we walked in, we sat on the front patio which had a pleasant atmosphere. We both work in the restaurant industry as servers. Service was confusing, we had two people come up and take our orders at different times so we weren't sure who our actual server was. First round of drinks came out incorrect. Husband ordered a Tito's and soda and received a vodka with water. Daughter ordered a lemonade and received a sprite. And I never received the glass of wine I ordered with dinner. Food was thankfully very good. Maybe it was just an off night, but with all of the dining options in the area, it will be unlikely for us to return unfortunately. read more

The Archive gets a mixed review, as 50% of our meal was spot-on, and the other 50% left you wishing for more. THE FOOD--3 Stars, at best The steak--while the final meal presented was good, it did require to be sent back to be cooked a little more because it was too bloody and not quite a perfect medium. However, once the cooking instructions were met, we enjoyed how tender and well seasoned it was. The Short Rib w/ Gnocchi--the short rib was tender, but could have had a little more seasoning to offset the blandness of the dry, cold, and tasteless gnocchi that it was served over. Honestly, not even the extra sauce that was poured over the meat and on the plate could make the dryness and dullness of the rest of the meal enjoyable. Caesar Salad--definitely the highlight of the night and meal! The salad was season to perfection and wasn't too wet or dry. The salad was crunch and fresh, yet the dressing and other ingredients were perfectly paired with the salad. Yum!! Shrimp Cocktail--enjoyed the coldness and freshness of the shrimp and the twist on the homemade cocktail sauce that came with it. Delish!! Grilled Octopus--this one gets a mixed review again, as it could have used a little more flavor in the sauce it came with. However, the octopus itself was grilled perfectly. So overall it was good. THE SERVICE--2 stars, and I'm being kind And perhaps it was because it was a busy night, but the service was less than good. We were sat at a dirty table and it took asking a busser, a waiter, and the hostess to get it clean, took over 20-minutes to just get our drink orders in, and were completely overwhelmed when our main courses came out at the same time as our appetizers. So when we actually got to our main meal, it was cold. OVERALL--2.5 Stars, not worth the value So overall, the meal would get a 3 out of 5 stars. And the service would get less than a 2. Not sure that spending over a few hundred dollars on a date was worth the hype. Perhaps it was an "off" day for the staff and restaurant, but we were disappointed that the experience wasn't a better value to what we spent. read more

One of the best dining experiences of my life. The Scallop appetizer was fresh and cooked to perfection. We decided to get steaks because they come from a local ranch. This is a must, the steaks were amongst the most tender and flavorful we have ever had. The service team lead by Cody was quick, well spoken and fun. They were knowledgeable on the menu items and wine offerings. Not a lot of indoor seating but there is plenty outdoors. The restaurant is beautifully decorated in a modern and sophisticated style. Steaks were very flavorful, cooked perfect, one of the best NYs I've had in Temecula so far! I wanted a filet but they ran out, so something to address. We stumbled across this place thinking we were going to grab some tacos (we didn't realize it had changed) but we LOVE seafood so we thought we would give it a try... If it weren't for the sweetest server ever, we would have given 1 star. The oysters were SO SALTY it was hard to get down, and we AREN'T picky with oysters.. I'm thinking of they served them naked and had the guest dress them as they like it would have been fine! but serving them pre dressed.. with my guessing liquid SALT justs not it! The salad was literally WILTED lettuce with a few tomatoes and dressing... that's it! We also ordered the bread and brie cheeese appetizer, it had 5 bite sized pieces of bread...with about a tablespoon worth of cheese.. and you guessed it.. more WILTED LETTUCE!! The only thing that was worth mentioning was the Wagu burger... BUT the Wagu was the only good part. The bar was great. Drinks were good. They have a short, but excellent dinner menu. We had appetizers first bacon wrapped scallops were awesome and so was the yellowtail sashimi. I had the special Denver cut 1 pound steak. Filet mignon was also excellent for my wife and friends. Sides were awesome. We had the cream spinach. It was excellent. We tried to go there this past Sunday at 6pm, and even though there were people inside, the doors were locked. Not one waiter/waitress came to the door to clarify if they were not open to the public, or if they closed early, not even if they were still not open. Nothing. A table with some adults and some children were eating right by the door, and that made it all seem surreal and strange. With that level of customer service, unfortunately, I see this business failing like the predecessors that occupied that space. read more

Okay, first problem was coming on a Friday night as a walk in. We acknowledge that this is a busy night and accept that. The restaurant was loud. So loud that we couldn't hear our server. (She was very good and attentive. Unfortunately we couldn't hear her name so we can't give her proper credit for her service.) We ordered the hamachi crudo and the Archive burger. When the runner served our food he very politely said enjoy. I'm looking at my plate (I ordered the burger) and looked at him and gently asked "ummm, where's the meat?" Seriously, I was served a burger with no meat on it. He even looked at it for a second and was like "let me go ask about it ". He did bring me the meat with cheese. After finally having a true hamburger and tasting it, it was a very good burger. Aside from the over abundance of chili sauce drowning the hamachi, there was hope it would be good...nope. The four minuscule pieces of hamachi didn't taste good. Had high hopes and left a little disappointed. However, I will say that once I had the whole burger it was good. read more
