I was here a few weeks ago and although I like the layout and look of the place, it was too busy to get a beer and a seat, 2 of my regular needs in a bar. Garth suggested I come back sometime and that Rod Run caught them off guard that day, so yesterday when my buddy suggested quail I said you bet! It was just like mama bears bed in goldilocks, just right. 2 seats at the bar, attentive bartender a serious beer cooler, taps so cool they have no names, and and ultra bright micro kitchen serving up some good looking grub perfect for this local just off Front street. I met Travis and of course we talked about Garth and how these two brilliant dudes put all this together. OK, so it's been a minute. I came back tonight and I am so glad that I did, brought my buddy Jim. ***Well, this joint is H I P! Thursday night and a good crowd. I get the feeling that they're mostly "regulars" and I can see why. The environment is splendid and the service is top-notch. The World Cup was on, and the crowd was a little jazzed up which made the place rather lively. I have a hard time with the sport since 30,000.000 - 8 year olds play it in North Dakota alone! It just seems a bit pedestrian. There's a couple of food items on the menu that I think are attractive but I was already well fed so I had a pickle spear which was very garlicky and delicious. My beer choice was one of my favorite local makers in this region "PURE PROJECT". Man, this was good: "NEVERENDING WEEKEND" a murky IPA: Aroma: A tropical punch of mango, peach, and bright lime zest. Taste Profile: Lush, sweet notes of pineapple and coconut lead the sip, followed by a crisp and zesty navel orange finish. Mouthfeel: It offers a medium body with a highly drinkable, "juicy" feel. My beer buddy, and good neighbor opted for the "BOCK AMBER" and one of the best values-only 5$ ! THE TASTE IS SLIGHTLY SWEET WITH NOTES OF ROASTED NUTS AND CARAMEL. LIGHTLY HOPPED, THIS AMBER LAGER GOES DOWN SMOOTH. Travis was our kind expert server tonight and also apparently one of the owners. From what I gather Travis and Garth are the proprietors of this fine well executed establishment. Sort of sounds like a country and western duo. But actually, now that I think about it, I'm not certain they aren't? We had a nice chat and Travis was very gracious and told us the intriguing story about how they came up with the name "QUAIL" so be sure to ask, I can only assume he'll indulge you as well. The back room changes from time to time depending on what art show is up. It's a very cozy comfortable spot and nicely decorated. The entire concept is brilliant, right down to the "merch" for sale and expertly curated interior design. This is an elevated scene for Temecula. I'm digging it big-time. I wonder if they ever have a DJ spinning in there or a jazz trio in the back room or something, that would be pretty groovy. Been going to quail for the past year now they have the best beers available on tap and in can from all over always have the newest beers you can't find anywhere else I visit at least 2-3 times a week I can say I am a huge fan of this place Travis and Chris usually serve me the most and they're super chill super knowledgeable and I can crack jokes with them and relax here definitely a hidden gem of Temecula the rest of the staff I've met so far and are all pretty sweet here too I'm not the best with names but shout out to the whole quail crew! Excellent service and a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. The whole place has a great vibe. They had tacos by Don Pancho's Taquiza, I ended up getting a quesadillas that were so good they were gone before I remembered to take a picture. The soccer game was on, the customers were friendly and the servers were engaging and attentive. They also have a small bites which is a nice bonus. This place in old town is a hidden gem. I came in with a friend to grab a drink and this place was perfect for that. We went in when it wasn't too busy yet. But as we stayed longer, it started to get busier. The bartender that served us was really nice and helpful in picking a good beer to drink. My friend likes pilsners and I like wheat beer and they definitely had both. There are small bites but we ended up getting chips and salsa. I was surprised by the price but then got a big container of salsa. It was a really nice and modern place to drink. I like the back room but my friend and I drank outside in the patio since it was a nice day. There is lots of seating outside for big groups, inside looks pretty small but has that extra back room. Overall, I would definitely come back and have another drink and hang out. read more

Not great for eating at. Ordered chips & salsa, flatbread pizza. Chips & salsa. Seemed like they were direct from the local supermarket. The salsa was even still in the original plastic container with a price sticker on it. Pizza may have been a frozen one from the same supermarket. I had a verified frozen pizza the other day that was better than this one. Beers were fine. I agree that the list is good with many unusual choices. Like that. What a fantastic time I just had with a large womens group visiting Quail, a hip little beer & wine bar in the heart of Old Town Temecula, on the ground floor in the same building as Gambling Cowboy. They serve interesting beers, ciders, meads, seltzers, as well as local Temecula wines. While they also offer some small bites, we brought in a spectacular charcuterie board from nearby Grazing Theory. Quail has a beautiful, bright and comfy back room that was perfect for our group, and a great back patio to boot. As an aside, the gorgeous inky blue walls with the light streaming through the windows was so perfect for photos. It was a first visit there for most in our group and Garth took great care of us.
