    Duck confit and spaetzle
    Stephen L.

Came here while reliving a long weekend my partner and I had a few years ago. I'm not sure why we were so entranced by this place (must e been the wine), but our return was altogether less than interesting. The vibes haven't changed since last we were there. The service itself was a bit on the slow/unaware side while the food itself didn't live up to expectations. The duck confit should've been moist and tender from, you know, the process of confit. Instead the meager leg was quite dry, with it's time under the heat lamp likely a contributor. For the price and quality, this isn't really a place I would visit again anytime soon.

I came here for brunch with friends on a warm day. The dining area was spacious; however uncomfortable during the warm day. The staff were cordial which made the heat bearable. The food came out wonderfully prepared and delicious. I would come here again, just not on a super warm day.

My wife and I reserved a table for lunch here to celebrate our Anniversary. The host got us seated right away to a nice view of the vineyard. Our friendly server took our drink order and brought us a couple of glasses of wine while we looked at food menu. I ordered the Steak sandwich , which was super tender roast beef on a soft toasted roll. The cheddar cheese made the sandwich! The Cabernet Sauvignon paired well with it! My wife enjoyed the Chicken and Strawberry Salad paired with Rosé of Sangiovese. Service was excellent, the view was fantastic!

Delicious spot for lunch in Temecula. You must check it out. The food was so delicious. The service is wonderful, they let you know what wine goes with your order. The views of the vineyards while you're eating are amazing. Meritage is a must if you are in Temecula Wine Country

My family had made brunch reservations here before we began our own Wine Tour. We were satisfied, but nothing food wise was reallg extraordinary here. I think their best asset is location. Located at the Callaway Winery, Meritage is serving some stunning views of the vineyard. Callaway itself is a beautiful winery, some Meritage is benefitting off of that. The restaurant itself is very clean and classy. It kind of gives a greenhouse, garden escape vibe which was actually really nice. They are dog friendly as well too. Staff was very friendly. Host greeted us with a smile. What stood out to me was how helpful and accomodating they were to my handicapped 90 year old grandma. There was some stairs to get to our table. The staff put her wheelchair in a safe place and even offered his arm to help guide her down the stairs, I was impressed. Food was decent, but not outstanding. It was average tasting brunch food that got the job done. I had the salmon lox, and I'm on the mission to find the best one, and this was not it. My sister in law had it too and we both agreed that it was lacking in the cream cheese, the best part, and we both had to ask for more. My dad said his sandwich was kind of dry ans boring like it was missing more, and the fries were disappointing. Best part was the creme brulee, but that could still use some work too. Meritage's strong point is the atmosphere and views. If you are looking for a nice atmosphere to eat on your wine tour, then this is a good spot. But don't count on it ti have outstanding food. Other wineries restaurants offer better food, vut Meritage is up with the views and vibes.

Lovely experience on a Friday night! The hostess was sweet, the waiter friendly and attentive. All the food was VERY tasty. My husband and I shared the 3-course Friday night special and everything was substantial!

Enjoyed a beautiful day today at Callwaway and became members. Enjoyed a beautiful view upstairs for sunset and finished off for dinner at the restaurant. We ordered almost everything on the menu and honestly my 5 stars is mainly for Sam! Although we had our own server, Sam continuously checked on us and helped us pair our dinner with the best wine. We kept asking for suggestions and he was on point with his recommendations and took the time to share about each wine. He was funny, wit, friendly and provided top tier customer service. We left full and very happy and relaxed. As parents of a big family, it was so nice to be able to get out of the house and enjoy a night out and we have Sam to thank, for treating the place like his own and giving all the customers in the restaurant his undivided attention. Thank you Sam

It's been years since I ate at Callaway's Meritage restaurant. Gorgeous views, beautiful property overall. The restaurant is covered patio seating with large windows that give a great vineyard view facing west. We were there on a Tuesday, which was a low crowd day and perfect weather! Service was excellent! Margarita pizza was yummy! We used our SIP Temecula passes to grab a glass of wine from the tasting room before heading over to the restaurant, finished that glass and ordered another glass at the restaurant! I chose a white wine, so I can't offer any comment on whether their reds have improved from when we last tasted here years ago. White was good (probably a viognier, I can't remember). They don't have air conditioning, so be aware if planning to dine on one of Temecula's blistering hot summer days. They do have heaters, though I could not tell you how well they work to keep you warm on our sometimes cool winter weather. We chose the perfect day to have lunch here and it was very nice!

Super friendly staff. Hummus plate was tasty. The atmosphere is amazing, simply because it's such a beautiful vineyard & winery. I was there for a wedding and the ceremony, food, drinks were all outstanding.

I actually really enjoyed this restaurant at the Callaway Winery. The service was friendly and nice. We made reservations and got seated promptly and had a nice view of the vineyard. We were here for brunch and they have a decent menu. Surprisingly they had Ceviche here and it was really good. Not simple and had a good mix of seafood. The Steak and Eggs weren't mind blowing, but cooked well and made it rare as what we requested. Really come here for the wine and views though. Overall, would come back!

I really really wanted to love Meritage. I love that most of their produce comes from their own greenhouses or is sourced locally. The ambiance: It was actually very nice inside and I liked that it was so open. However we were seated at a table next to the window and there was a fan that kept blowing on us as it rotated side to side. I had to put my hair up to prevent it from blowing all over the place. Ceviche: Good! Not the best ceviche I've ever had but it was not bad. The seafood tasted fresh which is one of the more important things for me. The wontons were alright, very very messy as flames ended up everywhere. The wontons were also a little oily and left that oil taste in your mouth if you ate it alone. Also there was a small piece of blue plastic lodged in one of the clams :( We let our server know and he offered to have them remake it, but we figured it was alright (crazy take i know). Ratatouille: Was decent, squash was cooked well and couscous went nicely. I personally felt that it could use a little more salt to enhance the tomato flavor, but to each their own. Short Rib: The short rib was very soft. However it was a little dry and the dish itself was a little underwhelming for me. I think I needed something in the dish to add some brightness as everything seemed to weigh the dish down. But again, personal preference because my boyfriend had no problems with it. In conclusion I can't see us coming back anytime soon, but I'm glad we tried it out.

The whole experience is what makes it special--the ambiance, the Latin flavors, the service, everything is on point. But what really sets it apart is the folklórico dance performance. You don't just eat here, you get a full experience. It feels like a beautiful little piece of Spain brought to Costa Mesa. The dinner is like a full three-course experience while you watch the dancers, and it's just so memorable and unique. If you're in Orange County, this is a must-visit spot--you really should treat yourself at least once. I was disappointed in the patatas bravas, however, which I felt lacked much flavor. The cocktails were exceptional. I enjoyed a classic dirty martini, their specialty vaca tonic (A+ cocktail), and had their non-alcoholic drink called Starry Night (very delicious, but not worth $16). The setting is quite breath-taking, with the restaurant decorated with elaborate cuts of meat and wine bottles. The lighting is very warm-toned and elegant. Overall, we had a delicious meal and cocktails before heading to the Segerstrom (just a quick walk away). First off, my friends had sat at the bar for a good 20 min before the bartender finally acknowledged them and took our drink order. Even then she was not very nice and totally made other patrons orders who had sat down after us before even trying to deliver our drinks to us. Once the drinks were delivered, they were pretty much slammed onto the bar counter rather than being delivered with care. Yikes. I had asked for a bar napkin because the rim was sticky and she completely ignored me. So rude. Our reservation on a Friday night with a show happening at Segerstrom was at 7:45pm which means the show crowd should have already left by this point. We easily didn't get seated until 8:15-8:20pm for a 7:45pm reservation because our table was lingering. Seems like poor table management on the restaurant's part to be that far behind schedule. Once we sat down, we did our best to order right away as we were starving and was pretty sure it would take awhile for the food to come out. Our server greeted us within a few min of sitting down and since we were ready to order by the time she showed up, we ordered everything from appetizers to full meal. Started with the croquetas and gambas. Both were good but honestly I've had better. The sauce for the gambas felt like the ratio of the sherry was a bit much and not enough spice. Ended up with the Paella Valenciana which was okay, but the flavors felt kind of bland and the scallops and shrimp inside seemed like they could have been cooked more thoroughly. I believe we got the 12oz New York Steak to share, and it felt the meat itself was super tender but lacked a bit of flavor for my liking. We wanted the broccolini but they ran out so ended up with the Brussel sprouts instead which were very good. Overall the ambiance inside the restaurant is a bit tight and chaotic for my liking. I definitely like the bar area better than the tables which were very close together, so may have to try dining at the bar next time.

The weather and the setting definitely started this dinner with a positive outlook. We were a party of five, with three of us ordering different Taco alternatives. I requested the Shrimp, my wife asked for the Salmon and our daughter selected Filet Mignon. The flavor of all the Tacos was out of this world, as the ingredients and the sauces involved within those corn tortillas meshed together magically. I will say that paying $20 for two small tacos that weren't PACKED was a little bit of a RIP. The other two guests in our party went for two different types of Pizza. They both boxed a slice or two to take home. As sides, we had two orders of Truffle Fries and one of the Brussel Sprouts. Both were phenomenal but the veggies could have been more plentiful. To go with our dinners, my wife and I brought our own Meadowcroft GSM that generated two surprises for us. One was how great it accompanied what we ingested, the other was the $30 corkage on the bill. To round out the night out, my daughter shared a Sundae-Sundae with the other guests. Being able to get out to see new restaurants once a month is a gift, and most of what we experienced was a HUGE thumbs up. We just felt like what was provided in a casual setting was a little overpriced. This will not be on a future "to do" list.

Nearly everything we tried was bursting with flavor, well-deserving of the Michelin Bib Gourmand designation the restaurant has earned the past five years. The food is served family style, and the cocktail menu is unique. Conveniently, there is also a good amount of street parking around the restaurant, even on bustling weekends. To start, I had the black rose, an agave wine cocktail with black sesame, rose orgeat, and egg white. I'm not sure the blend of flavors worked, but it was certainly unique. We also tried the gypsy king (their version of a spicy margarita) and the pandan, lime, and coconut mocktail, both of which were decent. For the small plates, we agreed that the charred eggplant and sea bream ceviche were stellar. The sambal shined with the eggplant, and the cassava chips paired perfectly with the makrut lime and coconut cream in the ceviche. The roti was just alright - nothing to write home about. The pork belly skewers were juicy and well-flavored, although we had finished all our small and large plates by the time the skewers came out (we had to ask about them - the waiters/kitchen likely forgot about our skewers, as multiple tables seated after us received theirs before we did). The ayam penyet, nasi goreng, and beef rendang were delicious and well thought-out dishes. We agreed that while the menu is heavily Indonesian-inspired and the food features the flavors of Southeast Asia, the dishes are quite Americanized. Dija Mara shines in presenting a typically uncommon cuisine in the U.S. in an easily accessible manner, which is laudable. Would recommend everyone try at least once.
