We met some friends for dinner to try their Restaurant Week three course menu. Upon arrival (with reservations) we were immediately seated and told our waitress that our friends would be there soon. About 3-minutes later the waitress came back and asked if we were ready to order dinner. We told her that we were still waiting on our friends and asked if we could order some drinks. After our friends arrived and we all had drinks then we placed our orders. Soon three of the four appetizers came out, it was another 5 minutes before the fourth appetizer arrived. The Auguachile Camarons were very acidic and needed more guacamole or something to cut back on the acidity. The Chicaharron Pork Belly served with green salsa and guacamole was very well prepared it was crispy on the outside and very tender and tasty inside. My wife ordered the Asodo Puerco for her entree but it didn't have any flavor nor did the rice or beans everything was bland with no distinguishing taste. I had the Braised Short Rib for my entree. The meat was not tender I had to use my knife to cut it up. Paired with the mole sauce, and mashed potatoes made it better but it was very chewy. For dessert I had the Coco Flan but it tasted like a dry chocolate cake with no taste of moist custard. My wife had the Arroz Leche however we never did taste or see any cinnamon just the taste of rice in a pudding. The other thing that became an issue was the music, when dinner started it was at a nice background volume so we could easily talk. By the end of dinner we had to almost yell across the table as the volume kept increasing. It was a very expensive meal, plus having to navigate downtown and pay to park, not worth the 45 minute drive. It was great to see our friends but I don't see us eating here again. read more

First time eating here and I was highly impressed with the food. The enchiladas verde cream was the best I have had and my friend had the mole which he said was outstanding. The mole had just the right amount of kick! The restaurant is in a beautiful old building with a lovely ambiance. The margaritas were top notch. I will be back. read more

I really wanted to enjoy this place, but unfortunately, it fell short. The noise level was unbearably loud -- I could barely hear the person sitting across from me. On top of that, the service was incredibly slow. We waited way too long just to get drinks, and even longer for our food. No one checked in with us during the meal. This place was stunning and the service was great! We saw an add on IG and decided to go for a date night. I'm so glad we did! Not only was the service great but the food was phenomenal! We opted for 3 appetizers, aguachiles, chicharrón with guac, and their birria tacos. There were so many flavors and nothing short of delicious! For drinks we ordered one of their mango drink and an espresso martini ( my fav) specifically made for the night. The event itself was fun, DJ and MC played selected music and there were a few karaoke sessions too! Fun and lighthearted! I have been here about 3-4 times in the last month. Have enjoyed everything, including the service. The salsas were amazing! The entrees were delicious. Today, however, I saw something that disgusted me. Guy is walking out from behind the bar carrying knives, drops several knives on floor, picks them up and puts them back with the stack that he was carrying in his hands, proceeds to put them on the tables. Went recently and got there at 11am and ordered at around 11:20 and we didn't get our food until 12:30pm and on top of that they forgot one of the peoples food who was in our party. the server seemed very overwhelmed which didn't give a welcoming vibe he was the only male server and it seemed like he was serving the whole restaurant. although they took forever to bring our food they were quick to take the plates away asap, they even took a plate away from a guest before they could even finish. the food was ok not worth coming back read more

Party of 2 and we came for an early weekday dinner. Ambience has an upscale feel. Restaurant wasn't busy and the service was great and food came out quickly. Food was delicious however the portions were a little on the smaller side for the price, but consistent with other restaurants in this category. Location makes it a little challenging for both pedestrian and vehicular traffic. We parked in the garage directly behind the restaurant which cost us $22 ($11 per car) for just over an hour. The restaurant does not currently validate any portion of the parking garage fee, so the additional cost of $11-16 per vehicle will be a factor worth considering when picking places to dine. read more

Terrible customer service. They charged me a now show fee for a reservation this past Thursday, when I'm reality I was there at the place and me and my group spent close to $400 on drinks and food. I been calling the place daily since the charge and they keep telling me they will reach out to me and they haven't. I been so understanding and willing to give them all the proof. I been calling Sebastian who I was told is the manager told him to give me a number to text him my receipts and even images of me being at the place. One of his waiters even told him which booth we sat at and that we were there. It's been now 4 days of me calling and still management hasn't reach out to refund me the no show fee I was charged by them only for the mistake of their waiter to not make on the open table app that we got there. We showed up there on time and we literally were the only other table in the place. Ate and drunk there from 6-9pm. What is the worse is that I hyped this place to my coworkers and other friends and now I am dealing with this terrible customer service. read more

We are visiting from CA and my husband was craving authentic Mexican cuisine. You'd think being from CA, we have access to the best Mexican food but we live in the North State and our options are dismal, unless you want American/Mex. I stumbled across this restaurant and loved the style and pics of food. They had 5 out of 5, but only 3 reviews. Turns out they just opened a couple of weeks ago. The ambiance and service were top notch. We ordered the Shrimp ceviche, Caesar salad, Tacos Julia, pork ribs and roasted corn. EVERYTHING was mouthwateringly delicious. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. If you were looking for real authentic, Mexican food, Casa de Julia is where you want to get it. read more

We went when they 1st opened and it was so good. We went last night and were disappointed. They "didn't make salsa today" so there was no chips and salsa. They no longer had the elote corn ribs which were amazing. We got sat 7 minutes before Happy Hour ended and the waitress wouldn't give us a happy hour menu or tell us what was on it. The online menu says 3 mini quesabirrias but I only got 2. I don't get what changed so much in 6 months. It went from amazing to below average. I don't mind spending $100+ for a good dinner, but there are so many better options in Phoenix at similar/lower price points. read more

Went to lunch one Sunday with a friend. Servers didn't speak English, tried ordering iced tea, but that was difficult enough. I ordered the carnitas plate and it was 2 pieces of meat that were deep fried a second time. Outside was charred but inside meat was still cold. Came at 9:45 our reservation was at 10 didn't get seated until 10:45 they didn't have our tables ready me and my party we're excited to try this place. It's a pretty restaurant very modern but don't let looks fool you. We waited 2 hours for all our food to come out and it wasn't even that good and no one gave us an apology for the fact it was 2 hours . Barley any flavor in the fries and the prices were expensive. The waitress brought out chips and salsa we all thought they were free until we saw the receipt we hardly got checked up on or served water.
