Omelet with wheat toast and hash browns
    Meredith C.

The ambiance is nice and fitting for the hotel restaurant, which is a former train station. The set-up is nice with tables appropriately spaced and linen tablecloth and linen napkins. We were welcomed by the hostess and seated promptly. The servers were attentive and polite. We had our water and coffee filled throughout the dining experience. Additionally, our order was taken promptly and the food arrived in a reasonable amount of time and was hot. The price was reasonable given the higher end feel and quality of the food. The food was worthy of a '4' rating. Everything was rather good other than the hash browns which I found to be overly salted (and I love salt!) and mushy where I prefer some crispiness to breakfast potatoes. The flavor of the hash browns was good though. The biggest opportunity was the order was mixed up. Our table of six included three orders of omelets that were each subtly different. I believe we actually got what we ordered in the aggregate but each of the three dishes wasn't what we ordered.

We had breakfast here for 4 days in a row while staying at the hotel - very nice venue in the main area of the former train station. We were here during the middle of the week, so we didn't have to worry about crowds. All of our servers were friendly & efficient. Speed of food arrival was good and we were happy with our choices - the real star is the location...the nicely appointed lobby of the former railroad station. Plenty of things to look at while your seated in the cavernous room, including tiled murals lining the walls. Currently 2.0 is only open for breakfast until 11am. I would suggest visiting just for the atmosphere!

Very appealing decor in a redecorated train station. You will have foot traffic in the area since it's open to the lobby of the Radisson hotel. The pork chop ,which they say is one of their specialties, I found not bad but a little to salty. It also needed some sort of sauce along the side. The soup was exceptional and my wife loved her duck. The waitress was very nice. Expect a longer wait time to receive your food( about 60 minutes) since it's prepared fresh.

Three fresh eggs, spinach, feta, tomatoes. Toast, fruit*, and bottomless coffee. *again with the honeydew?

Sunday breakfast omelet for $11 ! Pros: Great for hotel guests, good prices, good quality Cons: nothing (Can't give 5 stars for a regular omelet) Hint: don't sit next to the kitchen entrance--very high traffic area. The historic architecture creates an atmosphere that is spectacular. After eating, make sure to go see the historic photos on display, etc. Sunday morning brunch starts at 11 for $23. Service was great.

Brunch at Carmen's for Valentines Day!

I went to Carmen's Restaurant for brunch on Valentine's day and it happened to be on a Sunday - we read somewhere that Carmen's Restaurant is famous for their Sunday brunch! We called in at around 10:30 am and asked to make a reservation and they said the earliest was at 11 am (they open at 11). We were staying at the Hilton nearby so we were just walking around Scranton and hanging out at one of the coffee shops to kill time so I can't comment on the parking situation. When we walked in we were greeted by the hostess and she sat us down at a table. I have to point out that the service was great - every single server was very attentive with refilling our coffee/oj/water. As for the food, this is a buffet style restaurant. They had a variety of dishes which I took pictures of for your reference! A few of the foods that stood out to me - meaning I could've eaten them for days haha - was the smoked salmon, mixed berry french toast (so good!), eggs benedict, the cannolis, and the cheesecake!! They also had chocolate fondue (not sure if this was just for Valentines Day) with fresh fruit (strawberries, cantaloupe, etc) and a bunch of different desserts. Overall, I enjoyed the decor (it sort of made me feel like I was in reception for something), the food was good, and the service was great.

Excellent food. Breakfast lovely. The best pancakes, rye toast and coffee I think I ever had. Pretty atmosphere and history.

Ok I'm in, I'm Italian, homemade pasta is right up my alley. We sat down, friendly staff (young and distant), but an extremely strange setting. It was like walking into a Wayfair showroom with a pasta kitchen. The branding was a bit horrid in my opinion, but I work in that industry, so I couldn't get over the esthetic before I even got to the food. The TV "paintings" with random art were the "highlight" truly... I'm being too kind. The wedding table numbers, really were killing me in the worst way. This place was like a mishmash of identities with no real clarity of execution or strategy on how to accomplish what they're trying to be. A crash landing of ideas with no real destination. Now the food and drink! The plates were the size of a small luggage! For starters, the "fresh" bread they offered with a rancid tasting olive oil and the tiniest drop of balsamic vinegar was appalling. The calamari was decent at best... it tasted factory made, the coating was thick and it came with the tiniest portions of sauce. I want my calamari, piping hot, with a really thin coating and a ton of sauce, that's just me. The chicken cutlet was a flavorless flour-dredged slab of meat. Barely pounded out and coated in a thin breading, with no seasoning, and it was crazy big! The Gnocchi four cheese was like eating dough turds in glue. The texture was not good at all, and reminded me of undercooked packaged pasta, and weirdly overcooked all the same time... like the water wasn't boiling and they added the pasta in while it was cold. Gnocchi should be pillowy soft and should literally fall apart in the mouth and the cheese sauce should not be like hair gel stuck to the food. It's Italian food, it's supposed to be herbaceous and well seasoned, this was food for non-Italians, who think they could like Italian food if it was just a little more bland and assimilated... without all the immigrant culture, ya know?! The best portion of the dish was the non-alcoholic drink, which is saying a lot. I genuinely hate to leave a terrible impression, but I really hated this meal, and I'm shocked by the reviews. It would seem a lot of people are here for the big portions and cheap food. Not a quality food experience. Everyone's got their own taste!

I have been here three times now, each experience better than the last, which is hard to beat. Very good food, great service, a solid selection of cocktails and nonalcoholic offerings. I have had the ravioli in the signature walnut cream sauce.. delicious, rich. I've also enjoyed seafood, steak, and a bit of my husband's gluten free pasta, which was fabulous as well. The ambiance is very nice, I love that they have a space for coats, and sometimes live music. It can get a bit loud in there, not a lot of material to absorb the sound, but to me this is not a big deal as I am often engaged in conversation anyway, just a little detail to add. I enjoy our time here, and always look forward to the next. Thank you!

She was not only incredibly kind and attentive, but she made us feel completely comfortable and cared for all night long. On top of that, Michelle and Diaz were just as amazing--checking in on us before we even had a chance to ask for anything. The level of teamwork and attentiveness was outstanding. The bad: this point has to do with their automatic gratuity system. Nothing to do with the kitchen. I am not sure if anything over a party of 4 gets automatic tip, but it falls apart here: the bottle list. We ordered a bottle of wine. $115. Total cost with tax and gratuity is $143. That's $27 over the cost of the actual bottle. Or a 20% tip roughly. And they probably calculated the tip post tax. Had I known that I would not have ordered a bottle. Now for the arguments of "serving a bottle involves some labor that should be compensated ". Let's do the math. The cheapest bottle they have is 60$. If you were to charge gratuity and tax on this bottle it would be $76.20. That's only $16.30. Not a bad price right? Given the service of opening said bottle and pouring it. BUT... The most expensive bottle they have is $360. If you order that bottle, you will be paying an extra $97.20. That is a huge markup. And if I'm missing something, tell me how the service on a $360 bottle is different than the service on a $60 bottle. Does the server come out with a little song and dance for the more expensive one justifying an additional $97.20 on a $360 bottle of wine? Do you realize how absurd this is? My guess is that the owners don't realize the point I'm trying to make- to give them the benefit of the doubt. That is the best situation. The worst is if the owners know this, and are fleecing the customers. I'd like to believe this is not the case. To sum up: go for the food. Order wine by the glass. DO NOT order bottle service. You will be in for a nasty surprise. The average markup for A bottle of wine is 3x the amount in a restaurant. Retail my bottle was $45. I know this. And if it's $115, that's fair. After all the restaurant makes more money on liquor sales than food. I'm okay with that. But what I find reprehensible is that they charge a service fee on top of that. Which by my calculation is 20%. Therein lies the fallacy. The same 20% charge is applied to the cheapest to most expensive bottle. The effort made to open and serve said bottles are exactly the same! They don't disclose this practice to the patrons. I've run this by multiple people I know. They all say this practice is shady as hell. Enough said, go for the food. Don't get a bottle of wine.
