Here is the original combined review: First impression (over the phone) of the hotel is the reason we chose this one: Yvonne; she was great! The wait to check in was painfully long. There were 2 people behind the desk but only one taking care of clients. When we got to the desk, the girl (I wish I had gotten her name but I didn't) was very professional, apologized for the long wait, and took care of us quickly, so I can only assume the people ahead of us had a special request or something.. .and that is definitely forgivable. At the bar we were greeted by John, very experienced at his job and it showed. After he left we got Emily. She had a great attitude, had only nice things to say about co workers and her bosses. She also was very good at bartending. I would highly recommend the bar / restaurant. We decide to eat and instead of a table just stayed at the bar where we met several friendly locals and had great conversations, as well as with one of the cooks as he was leaving for the night (James) who was so funny I told him he should try his hand at stand up. That man has talent as a storyteller. We were feeling very happy when it was time to call it a night and go up to the room to sleep... and that was when we noticed the issue... NOISE. You could not miss every single noise coming from other rooms... I was woken at 3am to what sounded like someone trying out a new pair of lead boots above my head! On our way out we stopped at the front desk to mention the noise issue and was told when they renovated the hotel they didn't exactly spend a lot of time on sound proofing... and for people who are traveling through and consider a good sleep important, that is an incredibly important detail to miss. Since we do stay at a lot of hotels, I assumed they'd attempt to try to make this right with us, maybe something off the bill or some sort of benefit if we come back or whatever. But instead we just got the story of the renovation and nothing to try to make us feel better about not getting any sleep. (We don't have a lot of complaints but when we do we are never brushed off like that.) I was wondering if management doesn't instruct their front desk staff what to do when a client has a concern. It didn't appear they were brushing us off in a rude way, more like they just didn't know what to do for us. They told us next time we come we should request the top floor. Ummm... there's a very good chance we won't stay over ever again because we feel like our concern wasn't heard or taken seriously. We would definitely go back to eat there, but not sleep (or... not sleep, actually). They did a beautiful job on the aesthetics of the renovation. You can clearly see the pride they took with this. I wish they had taken the soundproofing as seriously. Every single member of the staff we had contact with was fantastic and made us want to come back. The food was pricey but very tasty. I had the portabella with a salad and I can't wait to have it again, it was so good. The bar atmosphere is very cozy and comfortable. The room was clean, the climate control worked properly, they have blackout curtains in the rooms, the bathroom was spacious and clean. The elevator was painfully slow but the stairs were accessible and we ended up using them instead. A tweak here and there and this place could be perfect. For the price they charge for an overnight stay, they really should be looking into soundproofing, and figure out the elevator situation, not sure why any elevator would be as slow as theirs is. The food was VERY good and the service was flawless. Thank you for the wonderful job that your staff did. And, as mentioned, I was able to pick up a specialty item, the arbol chilis that aren't available closer to home. Prices are seemingly a bit higher than home, and higher than some groceries stores headed towards Scranton but you'll save some on gas! One odd thing. I found on my receipt that I had earned a few Weis Rewards Points that could be used for gas at Weis' Gas-and-Go, Sunoco, or Mirabiro Fuel locations. However, the points were expiring the very next day (on Nov 25). I am happy to have this store in Carbondale. Staff were friendly. Check-out was easy. Parking was plentiful.

Half a dozen or so seafood options and 4 pasta options. There were also I think 4 desserts. The place was not at all busy; at 6 p.m., we were the first customers. There was a TV on in the bar and Elvis music in the dining room, and the two overlapped, which wasn't great. Neither of us used the bathroom, but judging by the size of the door and the corner they were crammed into, porta-potties may be more spacious. No verdicts on the bar or desserts, we didn't order any of these. Now for the pros: this place is run by an elderly couple who have clearly been doing this a while. He waits tables and tends the bar, she cooks. He took very good care of us but didn't hover. I had rigatoni with meatballs and the hubby had angel hair with meatballs. Both meals came with soup or salad and bread for $16.95. I had the salad, simply dressed with oil, garlic, and red wine vinegar. Hubby had the Italian wedding soup, which was clearly home made and he enjoyed it. While the noodles were standard prepackaged fare. I liked the meatballs more than the hubby; they were tender and decent sized and well-seasoned. Our meals came with two meatballs, and really, a third one would have been more proportional to the quantity of pasta. But the sauce! This was sauce to write home about. It was rich and smooth, not overly seasoned or sweet marinara. Hubby rated it a 9 out of 10, saying that better sauce could be out there, but he hasn't had it. There was also enough sauce. They didn't skimp. And the pasta was well cooked and well drained so it didn't water down the sauce. The bread in a basket with butter was a welcome addition that came with our meals. All in all, the experience wasn't perfect, but it was good. Politics aside, consider stopping in if you're in the area.
