Took my best friend to her favorite restaurant, Frank's Place in Simpson for her 50th birthday dinner and WOW. From the second we walked in, the staff made us feel like VIPs. Warm, attentive service without hovering...exactly what you want for a special night. We started with the fried calamari and shrimp cocktails. Calamari was golden, tender, zero rubbery pieces, and the shrimp cocktail was huge, fresh, and perfectly chilled. Already a win. For mains, we went all out: Ribeye Steak cooked to a perfect medium-rare with a great sear, Rack of Lamb that was tender and seasoned beautifully, Lobster Crab & Seafood Fra Diavolo with just the right kick, and the Crab & Shrimp Spinach Fettuccine was creamy, packed with seafood, and didn't skimp on the crab. Every plate came out hot and every bite was spot-on. Portions are generous, vibe is cozy but still feels special enough for a 50th, and they even helped us make the birthday moment memorable. No rushed tables, no attitudejust great food and genuine hospitality. If you're in Simpson or driving through, Frank's Place is worth the stop. We'll be back with more friends in tow. Frank's is the best restaurant in the area and one that we've been to many times over the past few years. My family grew up going to Frank's for special occasions, but I went away for school and hadn't been back for many years. We started coming here again when in town and it's just as good as remembered. They have great food and the pierogi, stuffed mushrooms, steak, haricot verts, and ribeye steak are some of the best that we've had and their peanut butter pie is my favorite (and not something you can often get at restaurants). The service has always been good and they've done an excellent job when we've had a dinner after a funeral as well (very respectful and excellent service). Their drink selection is also good and they have some fun cocktails and local beer. It can sometime be difficult to find a good restaurant in this area of NEPA, but Frank's is top notch and one we think is the best in the area. read more

Some of the best food we've ever had. The fillet mignon was perfect, sweet potato fries delicious. We had 4 in my party, and we were all very satisfied (except I wouldn't get the applesauce again). Last year, I called Frank's to purchase a gift card for friends. I was told that gift cards couldn't be mailed but would be held for pickup. When my friends went to the restaurant, staff couldn't locate the card. Fortunately, Frank's issued a replacement. This year, I decided to order online instead. The website was not user-friendly, so I had to call several times for help. I eventually placed the order, which was supposed to be mailed. Although my credit card was charged immediately, I never received the promised email confirmation. Weeks passed, but my friends still hadn't received the gift card. When I called, I was told it had "recently been mailed," yet nothing arrived. After two more follow-up calls, my friends visited the restaurant in person. They were first given a receipt but no card. When they returned the next day, they finally received the gift card. They love the food at Frank's, but I am very disappointed in the whole experience and will not order from them again. read more

First visit to Frank's Place, and we all loved it. I forgot to take pics of the salads that came with our dinners, but they were fantastic too. Try the creamy garlic dressing. It's amazing! We had Hillbilly Slushes to drink, and they were great too. The food was very fresh tasting, and the portions are huge. We all have leftovers for tomorrow. You can tell it's all made in house. Fantastic, experience, have always heard how good franks place is but never had a chance to go until this weekend. And man I'm glad we did, service was friendly and helpful food blew us away and the prices were exceptional for the quantity and quality of the food. We had the Mexican street corn app which was delicious My wife had the steak Neapolitan which was cooked perfectly including the sauce and the portion was enough for two meals. I had the dry aged 16oz pork chop which was so delicious I contemplated taking the bone home to suck on it. We also had a manhattan which was strong but very good and my wife had a watermelon margarita which tasted like a watermelon jolly rancher. Overall a terrific and wonderful experience. read more

Been here a few more times now. Every time the service and food have been excellent. This last time we sat "outside". Its heated and was a excellent experience. I like it more than the inside. The only thing I would complain about is the size of my Guinness. Its definitely not a "pint". Probably one of the smallest pours I've ever had (and I love my Guinness). We have been to Frank's many times and it has been constantly good except for this last time. Nothing was bad but nothing was as good as it usually is. Our bread basket consisted of 4 slices of Italian bread, for 4 people, usually includes assorted crackers not this time. Nothing was hot and my shaved prime rib sandwich Was light on the meat and had about 3 pieces of arugula on it, fries were cold. My husband loved his blackened salmon. For a Saturday night in the summer the place should have been very crowded it wasn't. Hope it was just an off night. read more

First time visit and we picked the worst time to arrive because of the storms. The parking lots were packed, which we learned was normal for a Saturday night. We had reservations outside and it was challenging finding a seat that wasn't getting rain, but they managed for us. We had a menu with a large amount of specials and then the regular menu which was huge. There are numerous appetizers, salads, Italian dishes, fish, beef, etc. There is certainly something for everyone. Our server was sweet and very helpful. I spied the peanut butter chocolate martini and was intrigued. They bring a martini glass with chocolate swirled inside and then a shaker with the martini that you pour yourself. The martini was good, but the peanut butter didn't taste as strong as I had hoped. I ordered the French onion soup, and the stuffed rigatoni with sausage in a pink sauce. I was watching all the dishes go by and everything looked yummy. Our salads came and then within 2 minutes our soup arrived. I had anticipated the soup arriving first to enjoy, and the salad next, so that was a bit disappointing as I felt rushed. The soup was delicious. It was full of richness and the cheese was great. The salad was fresh ingredients and the dressing was plentiful. Fortunately we just finished our salads when our entree arrived. My plate was huge and it looked great. The rigatoni was stuffed with cheese and was wonderful. The pink sauce could have been served to me in a cup and I would drink it as it was so good. The sausage was a bit spicy for me, but you could have ordered meatballs or cheese balls instead. Hmm probably the last drop that filled the cup, a month ago I brought a friend for lunch we asked both for soup it was cold , funny to say the waitress asked if we wanted to re heat it , of course not I want my soup as it should be not having my plate taken back to heat it again the taste was like a diner soup was snot fresh. Yesterday my husband and I decided to go for dinner our food took sometime but I totally get it since they had to probably do it a la carte, well either they did not clean the grill or something else because the steak was biter outside due to the carbonised meat, my husband wasn't pleased with his either. Nevertheless I got the wrong food for wich the waitress took back we get it things happen what I really hate it's that when we were leaving by husband decides to go to the restroom I was waiting in the waiting area he handled the receipt to the Owner that I really hope you are reading this and be ashamed of yourself! We have a steady policy of 20 %tips bad or good service it does not matter, on top of that there is a charge of 3% from swiping credits cards, ok no problem the issue is when you give your opinion about what I gave for that service that at a top was mehh as well as the food that already talked about, 20 percent exactly meaning with decimal points it's what we gave yes !!! Do you want more WORK FOR IT! Don't show it to your kids employees so they can call my husband an Asshole just because ....so disrespectful even though you told her to don't say that, still I heard it and I'm a client. Went to Frank's with friends for lunch. Nice place in a small town, off the beaten path. The place is huge with multiple rooms of tables and a bar. Our party was three adults and a toddler. We were seated at one of those round booths where no one seems to be able to reach the table well, but it was actually a really great experience and we over ordered food. I had Bang Bang Shrimp nachos. It was a creative and different appetizer. I had to have it. The serving was HUGE. There was no way I was going to finish it and then eat a burger. My dining companions started with fried pickles and smoked gouda bites. Everything was plentiful and tasty. I had a basic cheeseburger deluxe. It was perfectly pink, the way I like it. The fries were good. I just couldn't eat it all after the nachos. Our server was a man with a ponytail and a dry sense of humor. He kept up with our beverage refills. Atmosphere - Excellent. Despite being located in a very small town in NE PA, the restaurant has become a must do for people located many miles away. There are plenty of tables inside, however the draw for me is the outside seating. There are 3 tented areas that hold dozens of tables. I believe that 2 of the tented areas were set up in response to Covid concerns. We were seated in, what I believe to be, the original tented area that has a more permanent feel to it. There are heat lamps in this area and canvas drop cloths for shade and wind. The area is well lit and we were very comfortable with the seating. Service - Excellent. Despite it being extremely busy (it was a Saturday night around 6pm), our server took excellent care of us. From what I observed, the restaurant is staffed with many hard working, professional employees. Food - Very Good. First of all, the menu is huge! The restaurant offers the full range of entree options including steak, seafood and pasta. The daily special menu is pretty big as well. If someone can not find something of the menu that appeals to them, then they should just relax and eat at home. I started with the onion soup and it was amazing (one of the best that I have ever had). A garden salad was included and it was was very good. I had the Italian Sampler, which is Lasagna and Chicken Parmigiana. The portion of lasagna was huge and was a meal unto itself. The chicken parmigiana was ample as well. The chicken was tender and the sauce (gravy to those of Italian descent) was very good. The lasagna was pretty good, although the cheese tended to overwhelm the dish a bit. Overall Value - Great. In fact, I was tempted to assign 5 stars to my rating and would have, had I enjoyed the lasagna a bit more. The prices are very reasonable and our dining experience was very pleasurable. If you are in the area this restaurant is a must do. Notes - Reservations are a must on weekends and possibly even weekdays. The parking is extremely limited and people parked off the sides of nearby roads. The bar makes very good martinis and the prices can't be beat. read more

Frank's Place was great for so many reasons. To begin, they allow dogs in their outdoor tent seating area, which was a huge win for us! The tented seating was decorated really nicely, with lights and Chinese lanterns hung from the ceiling. The place is HUGE! Tons of rooms inside and two outdoor seating areas, so lots of room. They even have two sets of bathrooms! If you want more intimate you can sit in one of the rooms inside, but if you are traveling with kids, like we were, I recommend the outdoor area because it's more spacious. Their menu was also HUGE! They have everything from salads and burgers, to pastas, steaks and fish. They even had tacos! You really can get anything at Frank's. My husband and I started with the garbage wings, which is a sampler platter and the wings were delicious! My son loved the giant soft pretzel for his appetizer and our friends could not stop talking about how good the rice balls were! They even devoured a few before I could get the picture. Our main dishes were the lobster and shrimp risotto and the braised short ribs, both cooked to perfection! The ribs especially had so much flavor. Their kids menu was a home run too. My daughter is an extremely picky eater but she loved the kids mac and cheese, and my son ate his spaghetti and meatballs without one complaint! Our party also ordered the kid's chicken fingers and fries, which was another hit! Since the kids all ate so well we even let them order dessert, and they opted for the molten lava cake, which comes with a generous two scoops of ice cream. The drinks were fabulous as well! Two different mojitos both huge! And my friend's husband ordered a Mosco mule, which was served in the classic cooper cup. We were three families together, and our server was friendly and happy to give us three checks, keeping our order separate. If you're in the area, definitely give Frank's Place a try. My husband and I have been patrons of this restaurant for years. But we will never return and everyone we know will not return either. Last night we got there at 4:15pm. There were only two tables taken out on the patio. Our favorite table was empty so we asked for it. The owner told us no and that the table was reserved and we were sat at a table next to it. We both ordered appetizers and our main dishes. My husband side salad came first. He finished it them we waited for our appetizers. When our dinners came, mine was cold and the fries were rubbery. No one ever sat at that table we wanted. When we left my husband told the waitresses that we would not be back. He saw the owner and told him that he lost two customers and we would not be back. The owner then got two inches from my husband's face and physically pushed him out the door and became belligerent. It was very scary. Beware of this place. One other time we were there with some friends and our one friend ordered sangria. It came back with fruit flies (many of them). The waitress said she was sorry and brought another one with bugs in it too. Disgusting. She ended up not getting anything to drink. read more

Average food. We had a very nice waitress who was really trying her best. They got two parts of our order incorrect, but the place was so crowded and I didn't even bother to correct it. The front side of the house and a very disorganized system when it came to honoring reservations and walkins. Set in a very small town setting, from the front, Frank's looks like it's a small home on an unassuming street. Enter the building through the front door and you'll be amazed as you walk and walk. Then the place seems to grow like the inside of a genie's bottle. Frank's expanded to outside long before we ever went and now there are even tents. I'm assuming a relic of the pandemic. But, if a place is this good and can fill the seats with a big menu, bi portions, and something for everyone; why voluntarily shrink. Everyone seems to love Frank's and we know why. Service is among the very best that we have ever experienced and your drinks and appetizers will arrive to your table faster than you'd expect. Look up and 3 people come out with plates and your thought will be, "oh, that was fast". For my part, I'm going for the steaks and I haven't even begun to get to the dry-aged selection. Oh, I will. I've been here in the past and it was good. My wife and I went there last night and it was awful! Service was excellent but the food was outright disgusting! I got the Chicken prosciutto and both the chicken and pasta tasted like it was a week old. They smothered it in way too much cream sauce and it was just gross. It tasted like something you would eat at a cafeteria. On top of that it made me sick and completely ruined my date I had planned. I'll never eat here again. read more

We visited Frank's place on Wednesday evening, Sept 19 and it was a disappointment. When we got there, I had made a reservation earlier in the afternoon but whoever took the call didn't write it down...however, the hostess was able to get us a table. When she seated us she told us who our server would be and it was a waitress that we have known for a long time and have always had good experiences with. After we were seated, a different waitress came and took our drink orders. This young waitress (who I'm hoping is new) then proceeded to wait on tables that had come in after we were seated. After waiting 40 minutes and still nobody had come to take our food order, I went to the hostess station and the young man there apologized and said he would get us a waitress. After he went to the kitchen, this young girl came to our table for our order and was extremely rude and displayed a very snotty snippy attitude. The appetizer that was ordered by one of our party was never brought out until our food arrived...had she checked on our table like a good waitress would she would have known that. She then blamed the food runners for not bringing it out which I'm sure that wasn't the case. We were very disappointed in the overall experience, what was supposed to be an enjoyable evening was anything but that. There were also issues with the table next to us, an elderly couple did not get what they ordered and were unhappy. In closing, I do hope that someone reminds this young lady that the customers are paying her salary and she needs to respect the customers and also her coworkers. read more

Franks Place was a friendly, inviting place to enjoy a good, tasty meal. The landscape had hints of Tuscany. We were seated outside and the sun was starting to bother us. Almost immediately a friendly gentleman was adjusting the umbrellas so that we were now in the shade. After saying "thank you" and exchanging a few pleasantries, I had the sense that this was the owner and sure enough he was!
