We visited Frank's place on Wednesday evening, Sept 19 and it was a disappointment. When we got there, I had made a reservation earlier in the afternoon but whoever took the call didn't write it down...however, the hostess was able to get us a table. When she seated us she told us who our server would be and it was a waitress that we have known for a long time and have always had good experiences with. After we were seated, a different waitress came and took our drink orders. This young waitress (who I'm hoping is new) then proceeded to wait on tables that had come in after we were seated. After waiting 40 minutes and still nobody had come to take our food order, I went to the hostess station and the young man there apologized and said he would get us a waitress. After he went to the kitchen, this young girl came to our table for our order and was extremely rude and displayed a very snotty snippy attitude. The appetizer that was ordered by one of our party was never brought out until our food arrived...had she checked on our table like a good waitress would she would have known that. She then blamed the food runners for not bringing it out which I'm sure that wasn't the case. We were very disappointed in the overall experience, what was supposed to be an enjoyable evening was anything but that. There were also issues with the table next to us, an elderly couple did not get what they ordered and were unhappy. In closing, I do hope that someone reminds this young lady that the customers are paying her salary and she needs to respect the customers and also her coworkers. read more

Steak. That's the win. Confusing entrance setup, had to walk through a maze to get to table. Seated in heated patio area, heater blasting into the side of my face. I'm just getting around to writing my Yelp review. My 1st time I went to Frank's was August 1st. I was buying a car at Hornbeck Chevrolet. We asked the sales lady for a good place to eat. She highly recommend Franks. The food was delicious. The service top notch. The restaurant is pristine. I have never seen a restaurant that was virtually spotless. That says a lot for the pride of the owners and the employees. The outside eating area is beautiful. Even the parking lot was clean! We have been back twice since my original visit. Each time everything was amazing,from the food to the service. The atmosphere in the restaurant is cozy. They are very busy,so definitely call for a reservation. I live in Wayne Co & drive 35-40 just to eat here. I'm so grateful for Melissia at Hornbeck Chevrolet telling me about this incredible restaurant. read more

Very disappointed in their food. Seems like the bigger they've gotten, the quality has gone downhill. Ordered something as simple as a buffalo chicken wrap (grilled chicken) and the chicken was undercooked and the hot sauce was very ketchup-y. The ambiance on the patio was amazing! The rest of the restaurant looked a little old. The food was okay. I got a prosciutto chicken pasta. it was pretty bland. No parmesan or ground pepper. My daughter got a bacon cheese burger. It was a burger, what you'd expect. My husband got a streak that was over cooked and asparagus with no flavor. Again a very bland dish. It was very expensive! Frank's Place in Simpson should be avoided at this point. Got fish and chips packed on lettuce with a piece of turkey that looks like someone took a bite out if it. Got ma chicken and broccoli alfredo that has zero flavor or cheese in the sauce, it was like an oil slick. Ghe fra diavolo was pink sauce with zero heat. Called to let the owner know, and the attitude was beyond rude. When I tried going into what what wrong all I got was "yeah and what else" and of course the well I'll replace it comment. Said no thanks it was bad enough to have lost our collective appetites and the guy basically brushed it off like whatever that he knew we wouldn't be coming back and hung up. Never again. Watch your bill at this place. We went for a late lunch and paid for the meal on our credit card- AND GOT A RECEIPT FOR OUR CHARGE! We left a cash tip (almost a 30% tip, mind you) for the wait staff. When we checked our credit card statement a few days later, we were charged $14 more than our bill. The owner continues to give us the run around. Luckily the credit card company was empathetic. Although it was only $14, it's the principal. You don't overcharge your customers. If you decide to eat there, bring cash so you don't have to go through what we did! read more

After coming here multiple times for lunch and trying multiple food items, I upped my review to 5 stars! Let me start out by saying the menu is HUGE--burgers, steaks, hot/cold sandwiches and hoagies, seafood, salads, lighter fare, pizza, wings, Italian and more. Everyone who visits here should have no problem finding something to their liking. If you are trying to be healthy, I highly recommend one of their salads...OMG they are the best around! And I am addicted to those everything crackers they serve on the side! They use super fresh ingredients and the salads are really big. I'll fill up on a salad here; however, it doesn't stop me from ordering one of their delicious apps--the potstickers are one of my faves! Their sandwiches are really good as well. Try their Texas cheesesteak--thank me later :) Portions are huge, service is friendly and attentive and they do offer outdoor covered/heated seating in the time of COVID. Prices are very reasonable. It barely passes okay, and were it not for a friendly wait staff and the pleasant outdoor setting, it wouldn't even be that. The food is under par for the price, and "frankly", what you'd expect from a lame New Jersey diner. Overcooked bland vegetables, frozen fish and meats, "instant" potatoes... you know the deal. Tried Frank's Place for the first time last night with my wife and another couple. Heard nothing but good things about this place and read all the Yelp reviews so I was excited to eat here. I was not disappointed! They had a large crowd since it was a Saturday and parking took several minutes but we had reservations and were seated within 15 minutes of our reservation time. They have a large selection of beers on tap and a huge menu. We all shared a big soft pretzel appetizer which was really great. I had the 20oz Prime Rib with a side of pasta which the waitress was able to substitute for me instead of potatoes. Prime rib was excellent and the marinara sauce on the pasta side was very good and the portion was large. My wife had the seafood fra diavolo special which she also enjoyed very much, and she's a picky eater. We shared a Tiramisu for dessert which was also excellent. All in all a fun night with friends and great food. I definitely will be back to Frank's Place. read more

We love Frank's! From the service, to the food, to the beer selection and tap quality...everything is top notch. You can certainly tell the draft beer system is kept clean. If you like a little heat, try the spicy vodka pasta. It's absolutely fantastic! I highly recommend it. Pasta is always a good choice, but the prime rib and ribeye are to die for too. This place has the biggest menu I think I have ever seen. When we sat down the first menu had about 10 seafood and 10 steak/beef options plus apps and drinks and such, turns out that was just the specials. Had a fall themed Moscow mule that was awsome, and the giant pretzel was huge and very good. My wife's steak was well cooked and my shrimp and lobster pasta special was packed full of lobster meat. 4 stars because though pretty good it didn't really knock out socks off, it was just good and priced pretty appropriately for the quality. Skip this place. They cut corners and when my order was wrong did not remake the food for me, they merely removed the chicken and re served it to me. Then I bit into chicken that was at the bottom of my dish! I can't eat chicken. Everything from the food to the waitstaff to the owner cutting corners is not okay. What is this, Denny's? I could smell the bad salmon as the waitress was setting it down. For those of you who don't order fish, that's not good. It tasted as bad as it smelled, plus it was overcooked. Come to think of it, that was probably a good thing. No sauce for the fish, and it needed something, anything, to flavor it. The "baby carrots" were just your run of the mill grocery store bag of giant, bland carrots, shaped into smaller bland ones. They were overboiled and brown sugar flavored, no butter or seasoning, which is to say - awful. Desert was bland. Apple crisp that tasted like frozen store brand. I have no idea how this place has 4 stars or how anyone could rave about the food. If your idea of fine dining is your onion rings aren't soggy, perhaps this is your French Laundry. And lest you think I'm some food snob, I don't knock good deep fried food - I like Paulie's in Honesdale - but come on, man, most low level restaurant chains have better food than here. Very disappointed! Two years ago we were here and it was wonderful. We understand some things have changed and adjustments have been made, but if you can't get real potatoes, boxed instant potatoes do not serve as a good replacement without informing your customers. If you can't get enough staff cut down on the number of people you will serve. You are not doing yourself any justice when people have to wait over an hour after they order for their meals. And when 8 people order and more than 65% of what is ordered comes out wrong, that is an issue. I do hope you can make the proper adjustments to be great again. And I did not stiff the waitress, we left her $14 cash on a $89.19 bill that is over 15%. After all the issues our table had she should have sent the manager to the table, it is not my fault she didn't do that. My drink was returned, another member of my party's drink was returned, my food came out wrong, two other members food came out incorrect, one other person had to wait until some of us were over 1/2 finished with our meals before his food came out. One lady got the mushrooms she ordered for her steak topper on her salad. Some salads came out with no cucumber some with no tomato, one had to be asked for twice before it came out. Another one ordered a turkey dinner and had to ask twice for the cranberry sauce. I asked for the garlic mashed potatoes without gravy they came with gravy I said it was wrong they told me twice it would be replaced and I waited and my steak got cold waiting for my potatoes to go with it. I then had to ask again for them before they were brought. When they came they were instant boxed potatoes, not garlic mashed! They were awful! Never once were we asked if everything was ok. And you have the audacity to call me a stiff and other various names on here and in the private FB messenger! Wow! I will not be back and I want everyone to know why! read more
