Took my father here for his birthday. Very nice place. You get the feel of a "fancy" restaurant - from the white linens on every table, but it's really down to earth. Food and service were very good. Both my dad and I had the Queens Cut of Prime Rib. Way too much meat....lol. Had to take a doggie bag home. We both also had appetizers also. He had the Sausage stuffed mushrooms and I had the Stuffed Long Hots. Very good. The menu is very extensive. So many things I would like to try. Will definitely return to hit more of those menu items. read more

I have been to this restaurant a half dozen times, and I've always been pleased and impressed with the service and quality of food. The ownership of this restaurant demands that their staff are helpful informed and attentive. Every time I go there I try something different and I've never been disappointed. I usually start with the French onion soup which is delicious and end with some sort of Fish entree or seafood dish, although the beef looks excellent too. I also see pasta dishes on the menu, but haven't been inclined to try them since they look fairly usual. The desserts look and taste homemade so if you're in the mood for dessert, make sure to order. Also, my wife is a vegetarian, and she is always able to find vegetarian options on the menu that she enjoys. They seem to have a stuffed Portabella mushroom which looks delicious. It would be nice to have another one or two options for vegetarians if I could make that suggestion. Just my two cents... read more

Sometimes, when deciding to eat out, one thinks only of chain type American, Italian or Steak houses. And that can lead to missing out of some of the great privately owned family restaurants. Well , this place nestled between the towns of Carbondale and Scranton is one fine gem of an eating establishment. Starting with a prodigious bowl of their absolutely superb Crab Bisque and ending with a Prime Rib dinner that was served with an unnecessary serrated steak knife when all you needed was their butter knife to trim off a bite sized morsel of this tender meat. Add to all of this a complimentary salad and potato. Stir in very reasonable prices , and a quick, friendly and efficient waitstaff. I ask myself, why, the hell, haven't I come here more often. read more

The service is just ok!!! It's very much an older crowd for early bird specials. The food is nothing to write home about. To me and most of the younger crowd it's nothing more than diner food!!!! It's a good place to bring your grandparents or your parents!!!! read more

Just driving past this place, we knew it was the kind of place we like. It's been around since 1960, so they must be doing something right. The menu is extensive, plus there's a long list of daily specials. I did notice quite a few of the daily specials were also on the regular menu. We had a hard time deciding what to order, but it wasn't for lack of options. Quite the opposite! There were multiple dishes we wanted to try. There were 5 of us in our party (3 adults 2 kids) and we had: spinach salad (daily special), pierogies, split pea and ham soup (daily special), eggplant fries (daily special), cheese ravioli, meatballs, grilled cheese sandwich, and french fries. The split pea soup was unusually spicy, spicy enough that my husband couldn't finish it. Everything else was top notch, with large portions and presented nicely. The ravioli dinners came with a side salad. The marinara sauce was excellent. Service was prompt and friendly. We will definitely be back! read more

My husband and I have passed this restaurant 100 times over the years and said we should stop and try it. Finally, last year we did and it has been our go to place when we venture over to Scranton area now. We have both tried different items and everything has always been delicious. They are always busy and the service is always good and the restaurant is always clean. One of my favorite meals is the stuffed chicken. But sadly sometimes they run out, so you have to plan a back up especially on a busy Saturday night. Prices are very reasonable in this economy which is great too. Some other items I have personally tried were the scallops, prime rib, roast beef and these were very good as well. read more

I have been going here for years when I've been in Northeastern Pennsylvania. The place has gone through a series of owners over the years, and it still puts out good food with a very varied menu. Tonight, I had their Turkey Devonshire hot sandwich. It's an open face turkey sandwich with cheese instead of gravy. It came with potato of choice. My wife had their chicken Calabrese, and my mother-in-law had baby beef liver. All of us were pleased with our food and our service. They have moved some of the tables in the north side of the restaurant where the counter is, and it makes it so much easier to navigate in that area of the restaurant. We'll be back as long as we come back to this area of NE Pennsylvania! read more

We were in Carbondale for a convention in Wilkes-Barre and found this place in the Yelp reviews. What a find! It is a good thing we made reservations for our table of seven because there was a line at dinner time on Saturday night. The locals know where to eat. We liked everything we ordered and there was plenty to take home because the portions are large. Do not over-order because you will get taken hostage by the fabulous bread basket of crusty Italian rolls and cornbread. That night they made Polish specialties, which two of our friends shared each of their selections. I had an Italian sampler plate, which I later realized was not a choice to my personal liking, though it was good. Good service, generous portions, tasty food, really nice ambiance. My family and I stopped here for a quick dinner one night while I was visiting home. I ordered the veal parmesan and to put it simply, it was disgusting. It was rock solid and I could barely cut through it, definitely unlike any veal parmesan I've ever had in my life. I had never had to send anything back while eating in a restaurant, but this I couldn't tolerate. Our server was very helpful and took my plate back and quickly got me something else. My mom eats here every now and again and she said that if you order from the specials menu, the food is usually pretty good. As for the veal parmesan, I would not recommend trying it here. read more

I don't come here as often as I should. I've never had a bad meal or poor service. The food (especially the bisque) is wonderful. Last visit I had the Prime Rib which was excellent! Served exactly as I ordered--it practically mooed on the inside, but the outside fat was nice and crisp. AND the server brought the necessary creamy horseradish sauce for the side! (I cannot believe that anyone would use A1.) The serving was so huge, I had to wrap up the rest for home. Unfortunately, no room for one of their tasty desserts. read more

I ended up here for dinner one night because I was in town for business. I was just looking for a place that could serve me a hot meal that wasn't fast food. Overall I had a great experience. The restaurant was clean and the staff was friendly and accommodating. Once we stepped inside, we immediately felt the "family" vibe that was promised by the name of the restaurant. I had the lasagna which came with a salad and garlic bread. The components of the salad did not appear to be bright and fresh and I actually bit into a cherry tomato that wasn't ripe. The lasagna itself was really rich with cheese and meat but it was missing some of that "wow" that I would have liked. Other than being really rich, there wasn't much too it. The menu at this place is HUGE so no matter who you come with, everyone should be able to find something they'll enjoy. I guess I just didn't find one of those magic items on the menu yet. First time there. Service there was top notch! Our entire family (9) could not stop talking about it. My sister's son cannot eat shellfish and they went out of their way to make sure of no cross contamination. The food there was awesome, most of us had the prime rib. I cannot talk enough about this place. Again, the servers were SO attentive. They definitely go the extra mile and the owner came out as well to ensure we were taken care of.
