We stopped by the Windsor Inn for the first time after driving by for 20+ years.... embarrassing, but true. I was so pleasantly surprised by the staff and the quality of the food. We ordered the wing sampler with 3 flavors - mild, garlic mild and honey mustard. All of these were very flavorful. We also ordered a hot wing pizza with mild sauce. Crust was cooked just right; the sauce was great, but we would have liked a little bit more chicken on the top. Overall, it was delicious and we will be back again. read more

The waitresses were great, that's about the only good thing I could say about this place! We used to be loyal customers, it used to be delicious! Their wing nuts were absolutely to die for. NOT NOW!! Recently, they have changed their chicken( the waitress told us), It's LITERALLY like Perdue frozen chicken tenders with sauce thrown on them horrible horrible. I used to love this place, haven't been in quite a while. I was craving their hotwing pizza so I ordered one. I ate one slice and the rest went in the garbage. Absolutely no flavor, garbage chopped up chicken strips, no flavor to the sauce. The worst part was the blue cheese I got on the side, it used to be my favorite. I've been going to The Windsor for years. I moved out of the area, so my visits are far and few between. On a recent trip to PA I stopped by with some friends for the "2nd Best" wings. The place hasn't changed too much inside. Still very much a bar style restaurant. We ordered the nachos with wing sauce and they were just as good as I remember. Loaded with toppings and flavorful. We all ordered wings and boneless wings. The wings are definitely bigger than what they used to sell, which isn't a bad thing necessarily. I had the hot garlic sauce on mine. It was very similar to the sauce from years ago. Not quite the same, but still pretty good. The sauce could have had a little more heat in my opinion. Everyone else enjoyed their sauce options. First time visiting the Windsor Inn tonight. It will be the last. It was "wings night", (wings are good but not great). However it took nearly 2 hours to get served. When we expressed concern over the long wait we got attitude from our waitress. Then when the food came there were mistakes. Got serious attitude from both the waitress and the kitchen staff when complained about the mistake and asked it to be fixed quickly. Lots of nice places to eat in this area with good food, good service and polite staff. Don't need to put up with this. read more

We looked forward to returning while visiting home. The buffalo sauce recipe is nothing like it used to be. It was like tomato sauce with barely a kick. We asked for hot on the side and it was the same. We only ate 2 each. Regarding Covid, they had tables marked off to avoid but the one we sat at hadn't been wiped from the person before! Why bother?? I felt unsafe and masks were not worn properly by most employees. I highly doubt they wash their hands if you have two specks of polish left on your nails. I moved away several years ago and always looked forward to Windsor wings, pizza, and pierogi. I have not been home in a couple of years and I called for takeout. What a disappointment. We came here for dinner the other night, and I thought it was pretty good for the area! Our server(s) was super friendly and quick, and we sat on the side where it looks like everything had recently been renovated. They were able to make me a Bloody Mary with gin which was actually delicious, so they have a full bar. I tried a special they had-the Spiedie Chicken kabob with tomatoes, onions, peppers, and rice pilaf. It actually all had great flavor and the chicken wasn't dry. I was surprised how much I liked the rice because it looked like the kind that comes in a minute bag, but it was really great with some pea and mushrooms mixed in there. The house favorite, which I did try, was their wingnuts! They don't have bones, but they're breaded less than boneless wings or nuggets, and come with a ton of sauce. I ordered wings with mild sauce the sauce was so extremely hot my child burnt her mouth and couldn't eat them or anything after that. When I had called to complain Rachel proceeded to tell me that she asked the chef and he said he put mild sauce on them And she didn't know what to tell me. She then said they keep a log book of customer complaints and that I had complained 'several' times before I explained I did complain one other time Valentine's Day I asked for sauce on the side and the sauce was on them. Great example of a local institution that started to slip and is now being revived with new ownership. We make a point to stop in once or twice when we visit family in the area. Yes, the interior is decidedly old school, but it fits this place perfectly. My guess is they will be updating gradually. A nice wrap-around bar and high top tables in the bar area are great for small groups. Darts and slots in a game room are just off the bar area. The service in the dining area is great. This is not a fine dining spot. It's a super casual place with signature wings that are big and super crispy (get your sauce on the side for dunking) and the pirogies with butter/onions are spot on! Way better than others I've had in the area. There is something on the menu for almost everyone to enjoy with a beer or two or three. Salads, wraps sandwiches, pasta, etc. Beer selection could be a bit more varied with a few more local beers but was pretty good on our visit last week. House wines are priced right and pretty good too. We'll be back and expect they will be even better next time. read more

The Windsor Inn has been around my entire life. I remember my family always ordering wings from here when I was growing up. They are very conveniently located in Jermyn and boast the "World's 2nd Best Hot Wings." Now whether this statement is true... well I'm not sure this is necessarily true in the present day. The Windsor's wing sauce has always been my favorite, but I feel like the wings themselves are lacking. The wings are very small and just don't have the same quality I remember growing up. My family hasn't ordered wings from here in a while, as we have found other establishments who we feel offer better quality wings. Although the wings may not be the "2nd best in the world" they do still have a variety of other things on the menu that are worth checking out. I enjoy the wing nuts and the warsaw wings which are unique to the Windsor. read more

I haven't ordered from The Windsor in years because the last time I did(maybe 5-7 years ago) I didn't have a positive experience. Steve and irenes was closed so I figured I'd give the Windsor another shot out of location convenience. I ordered a to go order for 20 wings. Half mild garlic half mild, no celery, extra blue cheese, a side of mild sauce, and an order of sweet potato fries. Was told my order would take at least half an hour. When I got there to pick up my food it seemed like my pickup order was an annoyance that the waitresses didn't feel like dealing with. So that was nice. Then I realized there were only two separate couples at tables eating and four towny guys drinking at the bar so I have no idea why I had to wait a half an hour for my food. I was charged $29 for 20 wings and fries. Little steep if you ask me. Got my order and drove home(about 10 minutes away). Got home, changed into comfy clothes, opened my order and realized they left out an entire order of wings, gave me extra celery when I said no celery, gave me no blue cheese when I said extra blue cheese, no extra side of sauce, and the fries were super soggy and cold. I called them and told them what happened then got dressed and drove back to get the rest of my order. The one waitress said okay so you didn't get the other 10 wings because they weren't on your order. Then she tried to charge me another $12 for the wings I already paid for. I said I paid for them already. She said no you didn't. I showed her the receipt I still had in my pocket and they scrambled and said well I don't know what happened. They brought me out my other 10 wings and there was STILL no blue cheese or extra sauce in the bag after I repeated those were missing from the order at least 4 times. This was an absolute mess and I was quickly reminded why I swore this place off. Take my advice. Don't waste your time or money. Go to Barrett's or Benny's if you want some good local wings. Four visits, all in the evening, about an hour before closing. Had the wing sampler all four times, asked for extra crispy, with fries, beer. Chicken was delicious, particularly the Thai wings, which were the most memorable. Wings are not complicated faire, let's be honest. But the Thai were amazing enough that that's what I recommend people try when the topic comes up, and it's what I most look forward to. The service was acceptable. This is not fine dining, it's a wing joint. They made us feel welcome even though we were the last customers of the day each time. I chatted with the boss twice when I saw him, he was friendly, and clearly knows his business. The food is not "cheap", and the restaurant business is not a charity. The best days of the place judging by the decor are clearly past, and the owner is likely in the "take money out of the business" phase of his life. However - I will continue to make this the place I go after my quarterly "board meetings" with my bros. However we decided to give him a second chance and went back tonight and while did they turn it around probably the largest Wings I've ever had in my entire life I couldn't even finish an entire single order they did something twist something with the sauce and it is really good two thumbs up service could have been a little bit faster though. read more

Sadly, the Windsor Inn of the 90s and early 2000s is just a thing of the past. The wings are large, I prefer a smaller wing, however, they are not crisp at all. Even if you order extra crispy you are getting the same non-crisp wing as if you had just never said anything at all. It is almost as though the wings are sitting in a pot of sauce waiting to be scooped out when ordered instead of dropped in the fryer when ordered like most places do. I give an additional star because the sauce is very good, the pierogis are pretty good we well, other than that if you want wings there are plenty of better places to go in the area. read more

Went for dinner with my folks and nephew on parade day. Our server was amazing. The hot sauce on my wings didn't come out spicy, so he brought me even more spicier sauce, no questions asked. He was always checking in on us and was so polite. He was very patient with my eleven year old nephew. Definitely will visit again and again. read more

on Friday, 9/2/2022 I visited the Windsor with family. there were 5 people... ordered large nacho & waited 20 min to receive them. Our waitress was a young blonde female. we proceeded to order appetizers & meals. she came to our tabl & said our food was "up" & it would be right out after we waited 1 hour. no one brought the food for at least 10 minutes after that. appetizers were brought out with the meal & everything was ice cold. i proceeded to tell the children who brought the food out that I wanted to speak with our waitress because the food was cold. the waitress came over several minutes after that & with an attitude told us that the food couldn't be cold because as soon as it was ready she brought it out. she left the table & the food. about 15 minutes later cam back & said "unfortunately I can't void your entire bill". I proceeded to tell her that no one asked her to do that & again gave major attitude! voiding our bill was never ever mentioned to her. we just wanted our meals heated but she walked away leaving the food. this was the worse service I have ever received at the Windsor & have been a long time customer. needless to say since the establishment has been sold the service & food has gone downhill. I would never recommend it to anyone. also not a dime was taken off of our $120.00 bill!! just take out boxes !!!! didn't eat a thing !!! very disappointed in the entire situaruin. Windsor Inn is one of the places that won a wing competition years ago and people still try to say they are the best wings around. They are average at best. There is really nothing special about them. They are small, with very little meat on them. The sauce is nothing memorable. Just your average wings. This place doesn't even deserve any stars. We walked in, walked up to the counter and were looked at many times by the waitresses and were offered no help at all. Some old woman sat there counting money and still didn't offer any help. About 5 to 7 minutes later a waitress walked by and asked us if we were being helped in a rude way. After we said "no we aren't" she said "oh..really?" And the old woman rudely shouted "there's no tables." And then we were told there would be a 15 minute wait. We walked out. I've had worse, but I personally prefer a crispy, meaty wing with a zesty sauce. The wing sauce is ok. Def not 2nd best. Be careful because in my experience the wings are always soggy and in a ton of sauce, so you may want to ask for crispy wings. They don't have wing nights, and they don't even give free blue cheese and celery with wings. That's $2 extra! The wings are like $7 for 10. So add the extras and you're looking at $9 for 10 mediocre wings. The staff is usually very rude. They have a few waitresses that have been there way over their useful stay. I have no idea why the owner hasn't fired them, being that they are slow, rude, and snippy. Especially the older white haired woman. Food is WAY OVERPRICED! And everytime I turn around, they are raising their prices by a significant amount! They need to lower their prices, or offer higher quality food. The Windsor is too pricey for the quality of food. It's definitely not how it was in its heyday. The service usually isn't great either. The bar closes early, and most of the time it's almost impossible to get more than one drink. I grew up going to The Windsor almost every week. It saddens me that the owners no longer seem to care about the quality of their restaurant. They should sell it to someone who can bring it back to what it was, or at least hire a good general manager to run it. read more
