First time staying in the beautiful historic Radisson Lackawanna Station hotel. Trax Bar and Kitchen is the more casual of the two in-house restaurants that serve visitors and the local community. Impressive service by Maria-bartender and multitasker extraordinaire...she managed a busy Friday night group of customers with no wasted movements. Other support staff worked together like a well oiled machine, bringing food orders from the back kitchen. **** Trax Classic was a nicely grilled burger with their house-made chips which were thick, crispy and very tasty. Don't bother counting calories. ***** Station Signature Misto salad was much enjoyed by my husband. Coming from out of town the prices were reasonable. Portions were filling and the atmosphere was cozy with dark woods and a beautiful chandelier to look at in this historic venue. There were also several large screen TVs for the sports fans to enjoy a read more

Located at the back of the imposing Radisson hotel in beautifully renovated rail station. As hotel bars go a real gem. Ok food and beer but lots of atmosphere. Since it is a little hidden tends to be locals who like the feel or guests so it is either busy or painfully quiet. Worth a visit just to see the place. Outside and inside seats and plenty of parking unless there is an event on. read more

Trax - Funky bar - New American Near Me - Scranton, Pennsylvania

What better place to dine after visiting Steamtown than Trax? Located in the beautiful old Lackawanna train station, this is a railway themed bar and grill with many delicious choices. Our server was very friendly and accommodating. Give it a try if you're visiting the museum read more

Trax is one of two restaurants located inside the historic Radisson Lackawanna hotel in Scranton. The hotel was originally a 19th century train station, completed with stained glass ceilings, marble flooring and elegant features. Trax is the more casual of the two restaurants, focused more as a pub/bar. We seated ourselves, were greeted warmly and provided with menus. Lion ordered a Manhattan which he declared "nearly perfect". Food was very good. Lion got a burger & I got chicken strips. Both were well prepared and tasted good - basically good pub food. Service was good, and the price reasonable for a hotel restaurant. If we stay at this hotel again, we would eat there. read more

Since we were staying at the hotel we HAD to stop here for a dinner. The venue is decidedly small, and I believe this is more set up to be a bar (on the previous nite we challenged the bartender to make an old-fashioned Singapore Sling with success) ...however the menu had some nice choices. Service for us was fine & we experienced no delays in getting drinks or entrees. Both entrees were nicely plated and came with nice edible posey garnish. My entree (Grilled Salmon) was quite good - maybe cooked just a tad more than my preference - but had good seasoning & flavor. My girlfriend's dish - entree's name escapes me - was good too, as I had the honor of getting a bite;) Ambience was not bad - they were playing 70's music ..a trip down memory lane :D ..but it wasn't too loud. All-in-all it was a good relaxing meal. read more

Outdoor seating available! However the hours differ from what yelp has written. So call and make sure for the hours if you're going after 9pm. We were there on a Sunday night and they closed at 10 PM. They are attached and inside the beautiful historic Raddison Hotel. Guests we're seated inside and out and we basically had the patio to ourselves! It's a pretty cool building, an old railroad station! Hence, "trax"! Our server was very friendly and the food was served so quickly we barely had time to get excited! We were very impressed. We had the shrimp cocktail appetizer and the shrimp were very large and the arugula was very fresh. The crabcake sandwich was delicious and the shrimp pad Thai was not the best for Thai I've ever had, but in a restaurant from Scranton, I expected what I got. Yummy nonetheless! We both actually fancied the Salmon on the menu but they were out of that dish. Atleast we knew it was fresh! My sparking water was served ice cold and so was the beer. Overall this was a great spot to stop into! During Covid, it was like a small slice of normalcy! They even let us sit outside longer than 10pm because they could tell we needed some outdoor interaction! read more

Let's see. I ordered the shrimp cocktail and one out of the five shrimp were raw! Not good !! I order a pasta dish which arrived luke warm. Tasty sauce though. Waitstaff was unengaged and not fun. The beer was cold and refreshing though. But that's not saying much. read more

Was a little scared by the negative reviews, but if you have ever been to Scranton, you'll understand that you don't want to wander the town at night without armed escorts or at least two pissed off Navy Seals by your side. So rather than risk getting shot, stabbed, or robbed I decided to give it a chance. I must say I was pleasantly surprised at the friendliness and attentiveness of the staff. And the wings?? Ordered them crispy with the sauce on the side and I must say they were some of the best wings I have ever had! The Carolinas bbq sauce was simply amazing with just the right amount of kick for my tender Irish belly. Highly recommend that if you happen to get exiled to Scranton that you stop in and give the wings and staff a chance. read more

Decent place - definitely exceeded our expectations for a hotel bar & grill. My wife liked her white pizza (plenty of garlic) and my sandwich was pretty good along with the fries and salad. There were definitely some interesting beers on tap. Service was good, and we had no problem charging the meal to the room. Solid choice, especially if one is staying in the hotel (converted from a wonderful old train station) read more

Four stars just for the decor and setting. Very well restored portion of the Lackawanna Railroad's former headquarters with tasteful colors, period decor and comfortable seating. Food was decent with $1 tacos and various fixings for happy hour and a pretty good selection of draft and bottled beer. Prices were very reasonable and service was friendly. read more

Stopped in for a late lunch after checking in to the hotel. Fabulous space (the entire building is) and I was surprised at the quality of the food. I ordered the 'cheesesteak dumplings' on the recommendation of the bartender and was expecting to find them no more than edible, but they were really good and plated nicely. The sauce, chunky with tomato and roasted garlic and grated parmesan, was surprisingly good too. Also ordered the harissa-spiced peanuts, which didn't taste much like harissa -- more like honey roasted -- but were good. All in all a pleasant surprise for hotel bar food. If I were staying here again, I'd likely eat at the bar or the restaurant again. read more

My family eats here quite frequently and begged me to go for weeks. I started by ordering water and the shrimp cocktail. I believe it cost $12. During the long wait for the shrimp (which was excusable since they were steamed), I noticed that our server was going in and out of the side door with orders for other patrons. From years past, I remember Trax having a dedicated kitchen; it was clearly not in use if it still exists. After a few sips I also realized that my tap water tasted like dirt. The plate arrived with 5 small shrimp on it that weren't anything special and cocktail sauce that had to be right out of a can. For the price, it was a comical portion. We waited between 40 and 50 additional minutes for our angus burgers to come out. I ordered mine medium rare, and the person accompanying me ordered her's well done "but not charred". Mine looked large and tasty but it came out well done so it had absolutely no flavor. It was edible. The person joining me for lunch was served a burger that looked "like a piece of charcoal". She wasn't able to finish it. The lettuce was also limp and not in a suitable condition to be served. I was hoping to move Trax into my summer rotation but I suppose I'll have to try again next year. The waitress and manager, who we spoke with briefly, couldn't have been nicer. It was just a bad experience and is certainly not worth the risk due to how expensive it is. read more

It's Sunday afternoon before the jazz festival and they have two bartenders working with a packed bar. They're slow as snails and we can't even get our credit card back to leave. Trax - Sunday afternoon right before Jazz Fest. The place is mobbed and they have two bartenders working at a snail's pace. Seriously?? - New American Near Me - Scranton, Pennsylvania

Such a great location and atmosphere.. wish it were a better experience. Appetizers are just okay... we had the giant pretzel once which was awesome. Not sure if the older male bartender is still there ... but man is he grumpy. One time we went there and were charged a different price each time we ordered a miller lite (it wasn't happy hour or anything like that). We made a joke of it and it almost became comical to see what he was going to charge us the next time around.. 2.50, 3.00, 2.75, 3.25.. who knows! I also saw someone order a drink off the specials menu and the bartender looked at her like she had 3 heads. Obviously he had no clue they even had that special menu out. Too funny. We stop by every few months but that's about all.... read more

From the outside it seems lively. The Music was upbeat and urban, but there weren't many people in the bar. The bartender didn't great me as I walked in. When she eventually came over I asked if the kitchen was open. She said no it coded at 12 and didn't even offer me a drink. read more

Always a hit or a miss. Service is always friendly and once and awhile it can be a great time if the wind is blowing the right way. Food is good and average average to high in price. Layout is clean, upscale, and historic, and I truly enjoy coming here- just wish the rest of the community did also on a daily basis since a large crowd would change the atmosphere. But do not be dismayed bc this is the number one place on parade day, and on the weekend nights, it's a cougars den. Meow! Yes that's what I'm talking about. read more

Went for outdoor seating last night. Got the honey hot wings. They were so crispy and perfect. Awesome outdoor seating menu! Five star

Best wings I've had in a long time. The hot honey sauce is amazing! Can't wait to go back and try other items on the menu.

This place has so much potential, and just continually is disappointing. The bar service is hit or miss, and the food takes FOREVER. I've had a few martinis that were okay but the cons outweigh the pros unfortunately. *Update: I met up with a friend here following my initial review. I arrived before he did. I am very finicky about food and drink, and as such I ordered my dirty gin martini with very specific pointers as to ensure that I would get what I really wanted (extra olive juice and in-and- out on the vermouth, as I find it a bit soapy when there is more than that). In the meantime the bartender insisted on my sitting by the only other patrons at the bar (two older men), which I was clearly disinterested in. My martini arrived, light on the olive juice and heavy on the vermouth. I felt as if my requests were not only disregarded, but like there was no consideration for what I wanted that evening. Overall it was an unpleasant experience and I would recommend going elsewhere. read more

My boyfriend and I were passing through Scranton and chose to hang out at Trax for the night, letting all of our friends know we would be available to join us should they have the time. I let our waitress Maureen know that people would be coming in & out, separate checks galore and that we'd be there for hours. She was professional, charming and made thoughtful delicious menu suggestions that worked well for a group to share. She was an all around rock star and Trax hit it out of the park. I have nothing but nice things to say about this place and our wonderful server Maureen. Next time we are in town we will definitely be back. read more

Hope you are not hungry. They will take over an hour and a half to get you the burger you ordered. My wife ordered a double of Jameson and that took over a half hour to reach us from 15 feet from the bar. They never did bring the second old fashioned I ordered. Probably for the best as the first one was a watered down mess. It was Saturday night but they were not overrun by any means. Took the kitchen manager coming out to ensure we finally got our stuff. Waitress Nikki just couldn't be bothered with us all night. Food, once it came, was well done and to order. Food was 4 stars; service was zero. read more

My wife and I tried to dine at Trax while we were staying at the hotel. But it seems the staff wasn't interested in working that night. We sat ourselves in the bar room, then proceeded to wait 45 minutes without even a glance, water, or menu from the staff...ten minutes later nothing! So, I went to speak with the manager and none were on shift to handle this. We went back to our room and ordered room service. The staff was very polite but the food was nothing more than microwaved Tyson chicken and a Sara Lee slice of pie but it came to $50+ So save your money, the hotel is a nice place to visit for the sights, but DO NOT STAY OR EAT HERE! read more

Went here on a Monday afternoon. The bar is where we went to eat and we were greeted promptly by the older barkeep who took our drink order and things were fine. Nice older decor and fairly clean until we took a deeper look. The lemon in my wife's water glass was from the weekend and the water that came from the gun looked pink like the cranberry juice in her Cosmo. So, we would have been ok with the QC of the small stuff but the worst was yet to come. We ordered their Tomato, Mozzarella & Garlic Flatbread for $10 - Yikes. It was a frozen Giant Foods small pizza with fresh Tomatoes thrown on top! When we told the bartender he shook his head... lesson learned. Still charged us & we paid and tipped, but another tip don't order food here, or if you have to eat ask the bartender if there's anything that comes out of the kitchen that's edible. read more

We walked in as a party of six looking for a table. After 8 minutes, we were told to sit anywhere. Couples occupied large tables as we struggled to find anything suitable for six. Finally, two of us sat and received our drinks. The other four left out of disgust. Exactly 17 minutes later, the waitress returned and simply asked us what we needed. She was sarcastic and not attentive at all. I will not want to return to this place gain. I'm still wondering if the poor service had anything to do with the color of our skin. read more

I was surprised at all the bad reviews from this place because it wasn't my experience. I had the fries and our pleasant waiter let us know that it was half off special. I can't speak for the food because I've never eaten here but it's a perfect (historical) spot for a drink. There's an oval shaped bar, which I like and the bartender Rich is a walking historian so we enjoyed a nice conversation with him about the history of the area. There's an outdoor patio which overlooks a busy corner of Scranton and is just a few blocks away from Steamtown. I agree with the reviewers who said maybe this place isn't living up to its full potential... However, for us from out of town who occasionally visit/pass through Scranton, Trax is one of the few solid places to stop for a decent glass of wine so it works perfectly for us ;) read more

Located in the Radisson Hotel, a landmark train station in downtown Scranton, is this bat/restaurant that hosts a small portion of the Scranton Nightlife for the "out of their twenties" demographic. Usually not the first choice for the youth clubbers of the local colleges. Trax has a historic decor and plentiful room with an outdoor patio overlooking the busy Lackawanna ave, and the ehh Kildares bar and restaurant across the street. Not my first choice in views but when wanting to eat outdoors this will pass. The food is not anything to seek out for and their beer selection is very limited. An average bar restaurant that does not live up to the historic decor and potential it has. read more

Hunting around for a kitchen open after 11pm led me here. Kind of a mistake. Friday nights used to be "their" night, particularly for happy hour, but it seems the Radisson has been in decline under its current ownership. There were fewer than ten people upon arrival, which dwindled quickly. Last call was around midnight. The reason for my downgrade is the bowl of chili I ordered. The crock was undersized, perhaps 12 ounces. More than a cup, less than a bowl, priced at $6. That would have been acceptable had it not tasted as if it was mostly ketchup. My companion had the almond cranberry chicken salad wrap, which appeared to be on the small side - I was told it was a little dry. It was served with seasoned fries, some of which had so much seasoning that they felt fuzzy. Feeling peckish later in the evening? Skip Trax. read more
