I've had some fantastic meals from this place in the past, so I was really looking forward to my recent order. While there were definitely highlights, I found myself a bit disappointed as well. First off, the ribs were a standout in terms of taste; they were tender and flavorful, literally falling off the bone. However, they arrived in a pizza box, sitting on foil, and were ice cold. I believe they would have retained more warmth if they had been wrapped in foil or placed in a proper takeout dish. Given that it was only a half rack, it should have fit comfortably. On the brighter side, the mashed potatoes and gravy were as delightful as always. Every time I order them, they're consistently delicious. The turkey and roast beef platters were also warm and tasty, which I appreciated. However, I couldn't shake the feeling of being misled by the portion sizes. It seemed like they were trying to create an illusion of abundance by stuffing four slices of bread under the meat. This wasn't just the case with the turkey platter; the same trick was used for the roast beef platter. When I ordered, I explicitly declined the bread option, thinking I was getting a straightforward platter, not an open-faced sandwich. Instead of a generous serving, I felt like I received less meat than I expected, masked by the hidden bread. So, while I enjoyed the flavors, I can't ignore the feeling of being a bit deceived. I'm left uncertain about my next order. Perhaps I'll reach out to them directly to discuss my experience. I understand that times are tough, and the costs of ingredients, especially meat, can be challenging, but I can't help but feel a bit fooled and/or misled by all the slices of bread under both the Turkey & Roast Beef meat (4/5 slices under each pile of meat, for each platter! Very cute place... lots of stuff all over the walls and that appealed to me. We're here on Mother's Day though, and it's been busy. We probably just walked in the door at 1130am. We waited about 5 - 10 minutes before anyone said hi. Service was pretty good, definitely had enough people bussing tables and offering coffee and whatnot. The food was OK... the Eggplant Parm hoagie with extra cheese was decent, omelets were good, the onion soup was OK. Place was packed before we got there and got more quiet after 1230pm. Food may be better on a regular non-holiday day. I feel like they could improve the entry space... you walk in from the parking lot, stand in the doorway and others coming in would open the door right into us. The music on the weekends is ridiculous. They don't care how it affects the neighbors as long as it brings in money. The food isn't that great. It's nothing special that you can't get anywhere else. Plus, they are way overpriced and they add fees for whatever. Not worth the money or the time to go. read more

The place is horrible. I ordered a cheesesteak and the thing was not edible and the next day I was very very sick. I am giving the place a 1 star because I couldn't give it a 0 (zero) star. Don't spend your money there. Street vendor's foods are much tastier. Their cook staff had dirty rags hanging off of there pants that they would wipe there hands on. I just saw the owner (Brandy?) of The Honky Tonk in Dunmore Pa chastised a customer for leaving a bad review for how they got food poisoning there. Bad reviews are meant to bring to light issues that any establishments are having so they can correct them. They are a good thing for any business. Very childlike behavior from someone who is suppose to cater to the public. I will never go here again. I hope the person who she made feel uncomfortable there never goes back. I sure won't. Also, it was very unsanitary in the kitchen from what I saw. The cooks were using white rags that were clearly dirty and wiping there hands on them and continued handling the food :( read more

We were looking for a locally owned place to eat, while stopped for the night on a cross country move, and found this place. Don't let the first appearance sway your decision to eat here, looks are deceiving. When you arrive at the address, you'll think there is no parking, but it's located out in back. This is not a spruced up, shiny restaurant, look wise, but the food more than makes up for it. While we were there, enjoying our steaks, there were families, couples, and people picking up take-out. The menu is vast, but everything we saw being served looked amazing. I had the 16 ounce T-bone steak, and it was the size of the plate, and perfectly cooked. Our server was a bit confused as to what the soup of the day was actually called, she kept saying "minestrone or something", and she was close, it was called minestra, it was close to minestrone, but with more meats than normal, and it was tasty. This past Saturday we had originally planned on going to lunch at another establishment but they didn't open until noon. Since we were in the area we decided to go to the Honky Tonk. We arrived at 11:10am. The waitress arrived within a few moments and supplied menus and took our drink order. About 5 minutes later she brought the drinks and took our order. I noticed there was a special on the board that was a Fried Bologna, Egg & Cheese sandwich served with home fries. I tried to order it but she told me that they only serve breakfast until 11:00am. I said ok. We then proceeded to order a Soft pretzel, a Steak and Cheese hoagie, a Buffalo Chicken Hoagie and Rigatoni with tomato sauce for a five year old. As we waited for our lunch approximately 4-5 more parties came in and were seated. It was now 11:40 and we've been there for 30 minutes without receiving any food. The waitress came over two times stating she didn't know what was taking so long. We asked her to bring the pasta out for the child as soon as it was ready. We also noticed that all of the parties that arrived after us were already eating and they were all eating breakfast!!!!! At 11:47 the soft pretzel arrived - 37 minutes after our arrival. We asked again about the child's pasta and she said they were making it and apologized for the delay. 2 more parties arrived at this time and they too ordered breakfast (from the same waitress that was serving us). At 11:56 the child's pasta finally arrived. The waitress stated our sandwiches should be out soon and again apologized for the delay. At 12:10 the waitress came by again and said she really apologizes and it should be ready soon. At 12:18 I flagged down the waitress again and told her to forget about the sandwiches and just bring our check. She said are you sure? Do you want them wrapped to go? I said are they ready and she said no but soon. I said forget it. Just the check we've been sitting here for over an hour and 6 different tables came in after us and ate and left. Plus they ordered breakfast. She said the reason it's taking so long is because you ordered lunch and not breakfast. I said I tried to order breakfast and you told me no. She then said no I told you that you couldn't order the breakfast special. Are you serious????? At this point we've had it. Just bring the check. She then brought the check, we paid and left one hour and ten minutes later and hungry. We will NEVER go back to the Honky Tonk again. The place is a joke. read more

By far the worst restaurant in Dunmore. Extremely unsanitary!!! Got food poisoning from the buffalo wing bites! Also saw a mouse running around the bar area. The lights flicker constantly and the service is subpar. If you want to get work off the next day eat here. Otherwise STAY AWAY!! read more

One year later, and still just as good. Lots of breakfast choices, and very reasonably priced. This time, tried the fresh homemade muffins. SO good, espeically warmed and buttered on the grill. Also, the krinkle cut fries and gravy.. I am not sure if this is a PA thing, but brown gravy on french fries might be one of the greater food inventions I have stumbled across. SO good. I even was dipping my extra hash browns in the gravy (yes, carb overload). It seems like everyone knows everyone here - but they treat newcomers just the same. I have had breakfast here about 10 times now. Food is good. Waitresses are always extremely busy. Even when the dinning area looks empty. They seem to be running here and there. I would give 0 stars if that was an option. We called ahead of time to let them know a bachelorette party was coming. We show up and were told there was a cover which we werent told about when we called. Then they would not serve us because the bride is "lit". I am not sure if they never saw drunk people before or dont know what a bar is for. The group was just having fun and trust me, I have seen us much more drunk. We have all been servers before and would have left an awesome tip and would have spent plenty of money on food and drinks. Our bride would have LOVED hanging out and dancing to the band. Bar could be an absolute gem if right band/dj are there but other time it is a smoke filled( and I mean bad bad must take of clothes before you get home amount of smoke) sausage fest with sub par music and only 2 small tv's a bad juke box and no dart board or pool table. One plus is bar is open for breakfast and all day. Bar pizza is top notch for just that ... Bar pizza. And some items are above par but over all it is middle of road. If you wanna get a good memory or laugh they do have line dancing a lot and 2-3 times a year they have a mechanical bull but that is rare and fun. read more

My friend and I came here for a quick breakfast a few days ago. The atmosphere was a cheaper looking Cracker Barrel motif. The food was cheap, and the quality reflected that but it was a decent enough, quick meal. My big qualm though is that the waitress was disgustingly sick with a cold; congested, raw red nose and sniffling everywhere. We both vigorously Purel'd and swapped out our silverware ourselves when the waitress wasn't around because we felt like we were bound to catch her cold. Passed this somewhat local place about 100 times before a friend recommended we go there for breakfast. I always just thought it was a dive bar...surprise! The bar is totally separate from the dining area...very spacious! I only rated it 4 stars because I only had their breakfast so far. Their breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Plus they actually heard me when I requested bacon extra crispy, I've had many places think that extra crispy bacon means lots of fat and chewy gristle. Unlimited coffee refills with speedy and attentive service. Definitely will be back and also want to try lunch or dinner. read more

Just finished a great breakfast here on our way to Hershey. At first we weren't sure if they really served breakfast with beer signs and that seemed like a bar. Went in and breakfast was great. My 8 year old said it was the best waffle she ever had. Prices are very reasonable. The waitresses were very nice and provided great service. They have a sense of humor with the decor inside.
