Huge bread portions - Three slices of white bread with a soft texture and light crust are placed in a basket lined with white paper on a dining table. The table has a white tablecloth, and there are papers, a glass, and a plate visible in the background, indicating a restaurant setting.

Pulling in we had no idea they added a new section with huge retractable glass walls and ceilings. During a pleasant Sept evening the fresh air and ambiance was amazing! Truly impressed. Felt like a NYC restaurant in the heart of Scranton. HUGE bread portions. We ordered Gluten free penne with vodka sauce, linguine with clams, chicken francese and a chicken breast special stuffed with eggplant, mozz and spinach. Everyone enjoyed their meal with no complaints. Great place! Will be back for sure next time visiting our son at college.

While out of town stopped at this restaurant. When I arrived I parked in the private lot. I walked in and was greeted and sat in this nice restaurant. I was served by many servers and Becky, and they were all nice. I ordered the lemon drop martini, and it was sweet but tasty. I also had the vodka martini, which I enjoyed. For my meal, I was torn but ended up with the sole with crab and shrimp. The meal came out quick. The food wasn't bad. Just needed a little salt and pepper. The bill also wasn't too bad. All in all, I had a pretty good experience.

We recommend a reservation ~ especially Friday - Sunday. We were seated in their gorgeous outside addition that was added during pandemic. The sliding glass walls open up to allow light and air during the beautiful weather. The ceiling even slides back to allow more light or block when the sun is too direct. They also have shades to help block intense sun. The wait staff was beyond phenomenal. One seating us, while one poured water and another brought our menus. Still another took our order while others stood at different areas of the dining area to ensure service was proceeding perfectly. Everyone was fantastic, polite, ready to help. My appetizer was the eggplant Rollatini and it was absolutely great. My friend tried it and even enjoyed it. She gets nervous about trying new things. Our house salads were good, but we both asked for balsamic dressing & have no idea what was on it, but definitely not any balsamic we've ever had. I ordered the chicken special ~ chicken breast stuffed with spinach, mushroom & mozzarella. It had very little inside it and the chicken was dry. Luckily, the red sauce was great and helped. We both had the scoop of bland mashed potatoes and a colorful medley of vegetables. My friend had the chicken cardinale, again challenging herself because she did not think she liked roasted peppers. She was absolutely thrilled with her main entree & the yummy brown sauce. We would both look forward to going again and I would choose my dish more carefully next time. Many dishes that passed us looked great.

Light - A black lamp shaped like a wine glass is positioned on a dining table covered with a white tablecloth. The table has various items including wine glasses, a plate with food remnants, utensils, and salt and pepper shakers. The setting appears to be at a restaurant or a formal dining event, with other people partially visible in the background.

Food was bussing. Service is very quick and on point. The ambiance is nice they have cool lights at the tables.

A seafood dish featuring shrimp, vegetables such as carrots, celery, and zucchini, is presented on a white plate with a creamy sauce. The plate is on a table set with a glass of water, and the background shows a restaurant interior with tables, chairs, and diners.

Picciocchi's Pasta

Picciocchi's Pasta

(86 reviews)

I was visiting from Brooklyn to see my family in the area. My friend, who's a local, told me about…read morea place that makes their own pasta and how they have a great lunch. Ok I'm in, I'm Italian, homemade pasta is right up my alley. We sat down, friendly staff (young and distant), but an extremely strange setting. It was like walking into a Wayfair showroom with a pasta kitchen. The branding was a bit horrid in my opinion, but I work in that industry, so I couldn't get over the esthetic before I even got to the food. The TV "paintings" with random art were the "highlight" truly... I'm being too kind. The wedding table numbers, really were killing me in the worst way. This place was like a mishmash of identities with no real clarity of execution or strategy on how to accomplish what they're trying to be. A crash landing of ideas with no real destination. Now the food and drink! The plates were the size of a small luggage! For starters, the "fresh" bread they offered with a rancid tasting olive oil and the tiniest drop of balsamic vinegar was appalling. The calamari was decent at best... it tasted factory made, the coating was thick and it came with the tiniest portions of sauce. I want my calamari, piping hot, with a really thin coating and a ton of sauce, that's just me. The chicken cutlet was a flavorless flour-dredged slab of meat. Barely pounded out and coated in a thin breading, with no seasoning, and it was crazy big! The Gnocchi four cheese was like eating dough turds in glue. The texture was not good at all, and reminded me of undercooked packaged pasta, and weirdly overcooked all the same time... like the water wasn't boiling and they added the pasta in while it was cold. Gnocchi should be pillowy soft and should literally fall apart in the mouth and the cheese sauce should not be like hair gel stuck to the food. It's Italian food, it's supposed to be herbaceous and well seasoned, this was food for non-Italians, who think they could like Italian food if it was just a little more bland and assimilated... without all the immigrant culture, ya know?! The best portion of the dish was the non-alcoholic drink, which is saying a lot. I genuinely hate to leave a terrible impression, but I really hated this meal, and I'm shocked by the reviews. It would seem a lot of people are here for the big portions and cheap food. Not a quality food experience. Everyone's got their own taste!

Picciocchi's is a wonderful addition to downtown. My family has enjoyed their previous location,…read moreand when I moved here in the summer I was excited to see what they had to offer. I have been here three times now, each experience better than the last, which is hard to beat. Very good food, great service, a solid selection of cocktails and nonalcoholic offerings. I have had the ravioli in the signature walnut cream sauce.. delicious, rich. I've also enjoyed seafood, steak, and a bit of my husband's gluten free pasta, which was fabulous as well. The ambiance is very nice, I love that they have a space for coats, and sometimes live music. It can get a bit loud in there, not a lot of material to absorb the sound, but to me this is not a big deal as I am often engaged in conversation anyway, just a little detail to add. I enjoy our time here, and always look forward to the next. Thank you!

We were immediately greeted with warmth and genuine kindness that set the tone for the entire evening. The ambiance alone is stunning--inviting, lively, and full of energy. The staff was truly exceptional. Our waitress, Melissa, went above and beyond in every possible way. She was not only incredibly kind and attentive, but she made us feel completely comfortable and cared for all night long. On top of that, Michelle and Diaz were just as amazing--checking in on us before we even had a chance to ask for anything. The level of teamwork and attentiveness was outstanding. Despite the restaurant being packed, we never waited for a thing. We honestly felt like VIPs--like we were the only table in the room. That kind of service is rare and so appreciated. And the cherry on top? We had the best seat in the house, right next to the piano player, Paul--and wow, can that man play! He absolutely lit up the room, graciously took a request from my dad, and even played Happy Birthday for my mom. It was such a special, unforgettable moment. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to Sambuca, Melissa, Michelle, Diaz, and Paul for creating such a magical night. This was an experience we'll never forget, and we cannot wait to come back again!

We sat on the mezzanine. Which I felt was set up wrong.. one person sits with there back towards the view. It should have been both people sitting side ways .. oh well .. the service was great .. waitress was nice .. I ordered a gimlet for a drink and had to send it back .. I don't know if they know how to make it.. so I ordered one of the specialty drinks.. it was good . On to the food .. complementary one bite pastry puff . Not very good .. no bread for the table unless you pay $9 for it .. I had the spaghetti Pomodoro Basically spaghetti and meatballs.. $29 very over priced. Small portion and the sauce had no taste and meatballs were a little bit burnt. My wife had the cauliflower steak with a Marsala sauce.. it was good but for $31 bucks it was a small portion. We ordered a salad since it doesn't come with the meal .. a small Caesar salad extra $6 ..good not great Everything is extra.. over all it wasn't a good restaurant .. We won't go back .. It wasn't terrible but for the high end price.. the food and atmosphere were just okay... sorry ..

First the good: the food is amazing! Handmade pastas are out of this world. Entrees top notch…read more Desserts are on point. That olive cake is to die for. The bad: this point has to do with their automatic gratuity system. Nothing to do with the kitchen. I am not sure if anything over a party of 4 gets automatic tip, but it falls apart here: the bottle list. We ordered a bottle of wine. $115. Total cost with tax and gratuity is $143. That's $27 over the cost of the actual bottle. Or a 20% tip roughly. And they probably calculated the tip post tax. Had I known that I would not have ordered a bottle. Now for the arguments of "serving a bottle involves some labor that should be compensated ". Let's do the math. The cheapest bottle they have is 60$. If you were to charge gratuity and tax on this bottle it would be $76.20. That's only $16.30. Not a bad price right? Given the service of opening said bottle and pouring it. BUT... The most expensive bottle they have is $360. If you order that bottle, you will be paying an extra $97.20. That is a huge markup. And if I'm missing something, tell me how the service on a $360 bottle is different than the service on a $60 bottle. Does the server come out with a little song and dance for the more expensive one justifying an additional $97.20 on a $360 bottle of wine? Do you realize how absurd this is? My guess is that the owners don't realize the point I'm trying to make- to give them the benefit of the doubt. That is the best situation. The worst is if the owners know this, and are fleecing the customers. I'd like to believe this is not the case. To sum up: go for the food. Order wine by the glass. DO NOT order bottle service. You will be in for a nasty surprise. The average markup for A bottle of wine is 3x the amount in a restaurant. Retail my bottle was $45. I know this. And if it's $115, that's fair. After all the restaurant makes more money on liquor sales than food. I'm okay with that. But what I find reprehensible is that they charge a service fee on top of that. Which by my calculation is 20%. Therein lies the fallacy. The same 20% charge is applied to the cheapest to most expensive bottle. The effort made to open and serve said bottles are exactly the same! They don't disclose this practice to the patrons. I've run this by multiple people I know. They all say this practice is shady as hell. Enough said, go for the food. Don't get a bottle of wine.
