Finally made it here after 12 years in Scranton and it was well worth it. The food was spectacular - we had the burrata appetizer, fettuccine, and short rib special - they were so tender and flavorful. The staff was super attentive and friendly, particularly Landi who was very engaging and sociable. Only problem was my friend asked for his leftovers boxed but they must have gotten tossed. Good Food and Service--Guests with Service Dogs Should Plan Ahead My family enjoyed a very nice dinner with good food, attentive service, and a pleasant atmosphere. One aspect of our experience is worth noting for guests who rely on service animals. When making our reservation several days in advance, we informed the restaurant that I travel with a trained service dog and requested outdoor patio seating. We were advised by someone who may have been the owner that, due to his allergies, my service dog would not be permitted at the restaurant, including the patio area. My dog is a 35-pound Australian Labradoodle that is hypoallergenic and non-shedding. Because we were informed of the restaurant's position before our visit, we respected the decision and did not bring the dog to the restaurant. We don't live in the area and found Casa Bella via a Yelp review. Following the map we arrived and the front of the restaurant looked "eh", until we saw the parking lot behind the storefront. Plenty of parking (we are traveling the country in our van) and once inside we were greeted immediately with a warm welcome. The restaurant was perfectly "old school" clean and professional. The removable walls inside made for a breezy cool comfortable atmosphere. Outside in their yard space, the grass, plants, black iron all lent to a beautiful casual space. EVERYONE was involved in service and polite and attentive from water to bread to ordering, serving, checking back. Our meals were delicious, deserts also. I cannot speak highly enough of this restaurant. If I lived here , this would be my "go-to" place. read more

Pulling in we had no idea they added a new section with huge retractable glass walls and ceilings. During a pleasant Sept evening the fresh air and ambiance was amazing! Truly impressed. Felt like a NYC restaurant in the heart of Scranton. HUGE bread portions. We ordered Gluten free penne with vodka sauce, linguine with clams, chicken francese and a chicken breast special stuffed with eggplant, mozz and spinach. The cannoli was the most amazing and delicious piece of desert that I have ever had in my life. I have never experienced this kind of taste in my mouth before and it feels like heaven. The server was my literal diva and I love her so much. The food came out so quick and it was so amazing especially the linguine with white clam sauce. I select this place because of Yelp reviews. When I pulled into the parking lot, it didn't look like much. But once they seated me in the outside area, I was very impressed. It has great atmosphere. Even better than that is the service. I wasn't sure who my waiter was because so many people came by to check on me and make sure that I was happy. While out of town stopped at this restaurant. When I arrived I parked in the private lot. I walked in and was greeted and sat in this nice restaurant. I was served by many servers and Becky, and they were all nice. I ordered the lemon drop martini, and it was sweet but tasty. I also had the vodka martini, which I enjoyed. For my meal, I was torn but ended up with the sole with crab and shrimp. The meal came out quick. The food wasn't bad. Just needed a little salt and pepper. The bill also wasn't too bad. For the second year in a row, we ordered take out from Casa Bella for Christmas Eve. Ladt year it took a bit to get through on the phone, but this year someone answered on the first ring. The food was ready about 15 minutes after I called- super fast. This year I got the eggplant rollatini appetizer and the shrimp parmigiana. The eggplant was great- two large rolls stuffed with ricotta. The shrimp parmigiana was delicious. Large shrimp, smothered in mozzarella. It came with a large portion of linguini. I got a Parmesan peppercorn dressing on the house salad and it was delicious. Definitely recommend! read more

Beautiful veranda. Terrible front entrance, with no clear path inside. The maitre d's station is oddly in the middle of the restaurant, between the veranda and the main dining room. This is confusing to first time diners. I visited for the second time Wednesday evening. My first visit was unsatisfactory because of the very slow service. I visited again because I'm entertaining VIPs Sunday night when my regular stops are closed. I wanted to see if my disappointment from the initial visit was a fluke. After navigating the confusing entrance I was seated in the beautiful veranda, which was about 1/3 full. I turned on my stopwatch. 12 minutes and 50 seconds later I was offered a menu. That's not acceptable. If the food was exceptional I might tolerate diffident service. But at best this is a 6.5 out of 10. Nothing special. There are 3 places within two blocks that are more deserving of my food budget. Hard to believe that this is the best Scranton has to offer on a Sunday night. I'm driving my guests to nearby Moscow to avoid embarrassment. read more

Wow. Gives neighborhood Italian a whole new meaning. First off the parking lot and main entry is in back. If you are a singleton your only option is a table. No bar to sit at. And sitting in the original "house" is still an option but the real attraction is the "Pavillion." Primetime it's the action place to be. But then after 8 it starts to quiet down and the staff get a chance to move around and chat with customers and each other. It really is an event! And I haven't even got to the food. Bread basket is OK. Cheese and tomato app OK. Waiter knew that the best part is the reduced balsamic. Finally veal Marsala which was solid. The sauce was very good. We recommend a reservation ~ especially Friday - Sunday. We were seated in their gorgeous outside addition that was added during pandemic. The sliding glass walls open up to allow light and air during the beautiful weather. The ceiling even slides back to allow more light or block when the sun is too direct. They also have shades to help block intense sun. The wait staff was beyond phenomenal. One seating us, while one poured water and another brought our menus. Still another took our order while others stood at different areas of the dining area to ensure service was proceeding perfectly. Everyone was fantastic, polite, ready to help. My appetizer was the eggplant Rollatini and it was absolutely great. My friend tried it and even enjoyed it. She gets nervous about trying new things. Our house salads were good, but we both asked for balsamic dressing & have no idea what was on it, but definitely not any balsamic we've ever had. I ordered the chicken special ~ chicken breast stuffed with spinach, mushroom & mozzarella. It had very little inside it and the chicken was dry. Luckily, the red sauce was great and helped. We both had the scoop of bland mashed potatoes and a colorful medley of vegetables. My friend had the chicken cardinale, again challenging herself because she did not think she liked roasted peppers. She was absolutely thrilled with her main entree & the yummy brown sauce. We would both look forward to going again and I would choose my dish more carefully next time. Service was excellent there wasn't one server to a table. If any server saw you alone they asked you a question such as did your server take your order, get your drinks, need anything??? The patio is beautifully appointed. Low lights glass enclosed perfect temperature. Food was excellent, the very best. And the salad was the best I've ever had anywhere!!! Tasted amazing and I have a lack of taste due to Covid 4 years ago. But I was able to taste the vodka sauce. Delicious!! There was no downside to our meal or our service. Best in the Scranton area!! After 13 hours on the road, I needed some healthy food .. (enough with a car snacks already). Once at my Airbnb, I did a quick search on Yelp for restaurants nearby that were open and came across Casa Bella .. and I'm so glad I did. It wasn't that far away, so I didn't have to stay in the car that much longer, and it took me a little bit to figure out how to get in because the doors are not really marked clearly. But I saw another couple go in, and I followed them. The restaurant is very well appointed, very clean. All the workers there were very very friendly. And a number of Italians on staff. (I love the authenticity). I think I had five people come by at some point during my meal asking how everything was. The patio area was absolutely packed. Indoor restaurant had a few people and I do need to say it was early. So I'm sure they would be busier later. I settled on the spinach ravioli, and a really nice Parmesan peppercorn salad. I didn't have wine because I didn't trust myself to drive back to the Airbnb. Just too tired to drink wine and then drive. I would love to get back there and have some of their other dishes. Their menu has some really great choices. And I was very sad that I couldn't try the dessert. I wish I had asked my waiter's name, but I was just too tired. He was wonderful. Friendly and attentive. They have a full service bar and a good number of indoor clothed tables. They also do catering and private parties. Lately since the pandemic, take-out is very popular. There are multiple servers for each table, since I found out it was a family business, Christine was the most notable. Drinks , dessert and good conversation abound. Noise level was acceptable. Horrible! There were 6 of us who all ordered appetizers. The first 2 came out, then 10-15 minutes later the next 2 came out and the final 2 another 10 minutes after that. I had the shrimp cocktail which was awful. They were partly mushy and 3 of the 4 were hanging onto the tail by a thread. The mozzarella sticks were your run of the mill frozen ones. Then the salads. Ugh, they shouldn't even bother asking you what dressing you want cause it's apparently a "you get what you get and you don't get upset" scenario. I tried telling the salad server (dear lord, you'll never know who your actual server is cause you'll see at least 6 of them at your table) that I ordered the balsamic dressing and he just plopped the salad in front of me and ignored me. They really need to calm down with the amount of tomatoes (note the sarcasm). You literally get one grape tomato that's cut in half. Literally. Then dinner. My favorite part was getting to make fun of a fine dining Italian restaurant serving instant mashed potatoes from an ice cream scoop. As soon as I saw those bad boys, I knew we were going from bad to worse. First of all, what decent Italian restaurant serves mashed potatoes with their meals?!?! Why are they not serving, or even offering, pasta as their side?! I will give kudos that I was able to cut through one piece of my chicken, though! This was definitely a fantastic experience for a restaurant in NEPA. First off, I'll say all of the servers were on the ball. They made sure our glasses were filled and we always had bread on the table. When you go here, you have to try their Stuffed Mushroom Caps with champagne sauce. They are out of this world good and since my wife doesn't eat mushrooms, those babies were all for me. My Veal Saltimbocca was absolutely delicious but it's the first time I've had it prepared with cheese. The veal was fantastically tender. My wife loved her Veal Parmigiana. I tasted it and wow was it hat good. The sauce was perfect. Definitely try this place if you are looking for some good Italian food in NEPA. They just became one of my favorite restaurants in the area. If you plan on coming, you should definitely make reservations. read more

Tonight was my second visit to Casa Bella. I thought the first visit, nine months ago, may have been a fluke, but no fluke. Instead my expectations were exceeded. Attentive "team" service and food that is fresh, delicious and exquisitely prepared...in Scranton! I had the special - Cavatelli with prosciutto, mushrooms, green peas and mushrooms in a decadent cream sauce, but I "tried" the other three entrees - Lobster Ravioli, Spinach Ravioli and Chicken Parm. It is a very large dining room and can be somewhat on the noisy side, but who cares about noise when you're with good friends stuffing you face with good food. read more

We were in town for a funeral. My uncle suggested Casa Bella for dinner the night before. I checked out the menu beforehand to get a feel for the food. Good selection of everything. It's Italian so I was thinking pasta. I decided on linguine with white clam sauce. The salad showed up very quickly, fresh and tasty. The pasta was excellent, just the right amount of sauce with fresh clams on the half shell. It's a lot of food so be hungry if you order this dish. The veal and shrimp was ordered by another person at the table. I asked how it was and she responded very tasty, something to try next time. We also had wine which was also very good, I hace to say if you're ever in the electric city definitely try Casa Bella. read more

(The owner is Albanian, and quite the character!) I ordered the soup and it had 1/2" of grease floating on the top,after I refrigerated it --- and had it the next day --- you could take the grease off of it. It was a bit much, easy on the fat/oil. The swordfish was fresh & not that overcooked --- good enough and vegetables were fresh as well as the salad. Overall a decent place for NEPA 3.5 stars. read more
