(The owner is Albanian, and quite the character!) I ordered the soup and it had 1/2" of grease floating on the top,after I refrigerated it --- and had it the next day --- you could take the grease off of it. It was a bit much, easy on the fat/oil. The swordfish was fresh & not that overcooked --- good enough and vegetables were fresh as well as the salad. Overall a decent place for NEPA 3.5 stars. read more

Casa Bella is our families favorite restaurant in NEPA. The food and service is always outstanding. The owners are very friendly and make us feel very welcomed every time we walk in and leave. We have tried many different entrees and have never had better anywhere. The new addition is beautiful and is our favorite place to enjoy dinner. Energetic atmosphere and servers. We were greeted by everyone on the way in and cheerfully served by a team of happy hosts, waiters, bus boys and managers. The courses were prompt but not rushed, and you can tell from my pics that the food was nicely presented. It tasted as good as it looked. I will definitely go back when I'm in town on business. We were in Scranton for just one night, which, through a chain of events, happened to be the man's birthday. He wanted Italian, so we came here to Yelp and found Casa Bella. We found the interior (the older side) lovely. We were seated in a small alcove of just three 2-top tables. All three tables were soon seated and, over the course of the evening, we three couples had some lively, friendly conversation. The bread was served room temperature with butter, not olive oil, which we quickly requested. We were brought a bruschetta mix, which was very garlicky and quite delicious. We would've preferred the bread be served warm, but the dipping oil was really good, so that helped. I ordered the spinach ravioli and the man ordered the veal with mushrooms in marsala sauce. Both were served with a simple green salad and both were delicious. We went crazy and ordered two desserts: the crème brûlée and a cannoli. Fantastic! We ordered a bottle of red wine to go with the meal. It was the least expensive bottle on the menu but it was actually quite good (it definitely needed some time to breathe). My husband recalled he previously visited a restaurant with the most delicious food. Casa Bella fit the bill! They are very popular so make reservations as soon as you know you wish to eat here. We enjoyed the lightly batter fried calamari and served with marinara sauce. I had the Veal Tre Funghi with mixed mushrooms in a marsala wine sauce. My husband had the Veal Parmigiana with Linguine. They were a bit heavy on the sauces. Both were delicious and large portioned. Service was attentive and polite. The staff all work together, so if someone sees your water running low they fill it. If you need something else they help each other out. Parking is ample but accessed by driving in the back of the restaurant down a narrow driveway. They were quite busy...another good sign for a restaurant. read more

This place was recommended to me from one of my teenage daughter's friend whose family love Italian food. I asked them where is the one place you would go around here for Italian and this was their choice. Well doesn't look like much from the outside but when you go in it's a wonderful experience. There is some kind of modern addition next to it. The place is nicely decorated: white cloth table service. My husband and I went here for our 20th wedding anniversary and got all dressed up. Other guests were dressed up as well but some were in shorts and t-shirts, some in jeans. They greet you right away. The wait staff is superior in the area. I've been all around the world, did cruise ship dining, eat in New York City and you will find no better wait staff than those here. Other restaurants in the area should send their wait staff here for training. The food was amazing. I Never eat Italian food, always thinking we can just open a jar of Ragu and Barilla pasta for cheap. I was wrong. The food we got was light and fresh. I wanted real Italian food and if this was it, I should have had my first experience here. Everything we ordered was good. We got the mushroom snow caps as appetizer, pasta Fagioli and stracciatella soup, linguine casa seafood and a veal dish. My husband pretty much licked his plate clean and was using the left over sauce to dip the fresh unlimited bread in. I purposefully went out of my way not to finish and save it for my kids to try. Dessert was excellent as well. We got rice pudding and limoncello cake. Both were fresh and not heavy and a delightful finish to our meal. For someone who mostly eats Asian food, I would go again in a heartbeat. My only complaint (sorry casa Bella) is that this place is dark on the inside. I hate driving in the dark and this place makes me whip out my phone to read the menu. Also for someone who also never eats Italian food, I didn't know what to pick, the menu is huge. I guess I'll have to come back to try the other dishes. Also, my husband and I are trying to be vegetarian but cheated our diet on our anniversary. there did not seem to be any vegan/vegetarian options. read more

We loved the atmosphere in the large open space room. Table of 4 . But we felt rushed to order.... Food was good but fish special portions were small! I had the ravioli special that was a nice size portion. We found not many appetizers to choose from expected more than they had ... mushroom appetizer special again tiny tiny mushrooms in a cheese sauce tasted good but again tiny... very disappointed.... Clams also small as can be ... also we had martinis glasses were 1/2 the size you would get in other restaurants! Again they tried to rush us with dessert we asked for a few minutes... we did order lemon cello cake again small slice..... not sure if we'll go back... we went here because of friends raving about this restaurant reflects my 3 star review! This is my favorite restaurant in Scranton. I was shocked to see such a beautiful restaurant after walking through the front door which looked like an apartment building. The staff was extremely friendly and they offered fast service. I had the orange creamsicle martini, and I swear that is the best drink I have ever ordered from any restaurant. Tucked in the quiet neighborhood, we were pleasantly surprised when we stumbled upon this place on our journey from new york to Philadelphia. The waitstaff is super efficient. Friendly but not overbearing. The dining room is very lively even though it's on a Thursday night. Our meal started with the fresh bread soft and supple. We didn't get any appetizers but the entrees came with a side salad that's crisp and fresh. The peppercorn Parmesan dressing is creamy but not overpowering. The lobster ravioli are stuffed with chunks of meat and the dressing is delicious. The gnocchi has a good texture. The side of spinach is flavored with just the right amount of salt, olive oil and fresh garlic. The desert options are also impressive. We ended up ordering 4 of them between the two of us to take home. Sadly is that it's not close to where we live otherwise we'll probably go there all the time. read more

I actually found this restaurant on Yelp! I was looking for somewhere fancy and nice to take my dad out to dinner on Father's Day. This definitely fit the bill! If you can, make a reservation on their outdoor greenhouse-like deck with all the natural light that is so beautiful and has wonderful ambiance. We each got different pastas. I got the penne vodka, and it was absolutely divine. The service was impeccable and they constantly refilled our water and asked if we wanted more drinks or dessert. Restaurant was full capacity, we were seated in less than 10. Service was impeccable!! I have been in the industry 30+ years. Hubbie had Eggplant Parmigiana, sauce was sweet but delicious! The food was good but not great. The bread was grocery store quality and not warm. The salad was iceberg with 1.5 count them 1.5 cherry tomatoes (that's all). The marinara sauce on the pasta was generic no spice or depth. The side mixed veg looked like it came out of a package. When we asked about wine choices we got red or white from the waiter. We didn't order any. The service was very fast because they have so many waiters. You got served by no less than 5 different people but that only made you feel like you were on an assembly line. Wonderful private lunch yesterday following a funeral service. The room was very nice. They opened the retractable roof for a few min when the room was a bit warm. And, more importantly, the food was very good. I had crabmeat-stuffed sole with a couple shrimp on top. The shrimp were cooked perfectly and very tender. They catered to my son's wheat and gluten allergy and made him a gluten-free version of chicken franchise, which was also delicious. One tricky note, you have to go around back to park and enter the restaurant, and it was tricky to navigate a couple one-way streets...but not a big deal and worth the effort. read more
