Our friends, (one of whom is a retired chef) wanted to try this place as he heard they had very good food at a very reasonable price. I dined here many years ago and felt that it was nothing special and had no desire to return, but, as our friends wanted to try we went, even though now it was a distance to drive to. You will first notice a very, very, very antiquated restaurant in need of some serious updating. If ou can find information online, you will note that in looking at they menu, prices are in fact, very reasonable, but then you will find this disclaimer. (Menu may not be up to date. Submit corrections.). Consequently, when we sat down to order, our friends said, gosh, "these prices are nothing like what we saw online". I educated him on the disclaimer. We shared an antipasto which was quite good along with their bread. I think their menu is rather limited, utilizing the same ingredients in different ways. Their claim to fame seems to be serving in oversized bowls with a lot of sauce. We had one of their seafood specials, some ravioli, eggplant parmesan and calamari. The calamari was hot and fresh, but extremely bland. What is usually served with some jalapeño and lemons and various dipping sauces, was under salted and only served with some marinara sauce. Very disappointing. The eggplant parm was tasty, but the inside ricotta cheese was lukewarm at best, so not a good way to be served. The ravioli was tasty, not a lot of them, but swimming in sauce. The best dish was the seafood special, nice flavor. I note that many of the reviews on this page are from "out of towners", so I suppose if you are visiting from a bigger, more metropolis area, the outdated environment might seem charming. To me, living semi-local, first off I generally don't go out for Italian food because I am a fantastic cook and Italian food (especially those dishes that are heavy on the pasta) is perhaps the simplest and least expensive to prepare, so I tend to dine at things I find to be a treat that I generally would not cook, like something very mediterranean or Thai or Indian. So, although this food in this restaurant was good, it was, what we would say, nothing special. Good for what it is, a very basic local neighborhood place. read more

I thought it was closed because it was dark but a light shone through and we tried Valenti's for the first time and OMG! The food was amazing, the staff was incredible, everything was outstanding. Arancini as an appetizer, was so good we ordered another. I think the bread was homemade it was delicious and I had a Caesar salad was amazing then was too full for the risotto but that was the icing on the cake. Best I found in Luzerne County. They squeezed us in on a very busy Saturday night. And while we had to wait a little for a table, our waitress Jeanie quickly got our drinks and perfectly timed the courses. Our waitress was helpful in providing information about the specials and never made us feel rushed. She was also extremely attentive and accommodating despite every table being full. Their portions are very generous and reasonably priced. We had the Italian Wedding soup, the lobster bisque soup, the lump crab shrimp scampi, and the lemon lush. They were all flavorful. We had a fabulous dining experience! The chicken parmesan was "chef's kiss" with the perfect amount of sauce and pasta. The chicken was moist and tender. The ravioli was classical italian with a perfect red sauce. The atmosphere was busy, with a lot of people coming and going and the wait staff negotiating between them, but it was a Saturday night. The food is top notch i had the new york strip which hit temp perfectly large cut absolutely delicious. We went on a Saturday evening waited 45 mins past reservation time went to the bar for a drink to kill time. The primary bartender said she is to busy to serve us. It felt like a cult if you are not a regular they literally ignore you. once we were seated service was exceptional the owner stopped by twice to ensure we were pleased. I did not mention the unprofessional behavior of his bar manager as i just wanted to have an enjoyable evening. I suggest avoid this place on weekend nights if you are not a fixture there you will be treated poorly until you are seated. read more

Standout in both food and service! We were greeted upon arrival by a very lovely bartender and sweet waitress who immediately sold us on Strawberry Basil martinis. While we waited for the rest of our party to arrive we were told the specials, got a bread basket and some pleasant conversation. The chicken dishes (parm and Marsala) were raved about the misto salad was a hit as were the meatballs and ricotta gnocchi. We were checked on regularly (not intrusively or too much) and had a great evening here. I can not wait to return and try other menu items. When I tell you that this is the best experience I have had at a restaurant in a VERY long time, I am not lying! From the moment we walked in to when we left, we had nothing but a positive experience. Our waitress, Desiree was extremely accommodating and helpful providing information about the specials and drink menu. Although not listed on the menu, we were able to order chicken fingers and fries for the children in our group. We did not wait long for our food, but also did not feel rushed at all. The food runners and bussers were very attentive, despite every table being full. The food here was hands down the best Italian food I have had in the area and the filet special was definitely the best steak I have ever had. PERIOD. Pretty good Italian restaurant in general. I was only there once, so I feel like it wouldn't be fair to give it a super-high rating until I've tried several menu items. That being said, their gnocchi with vodka sauce is the best I have ever had... truly. I highly recommend giving this place a shot if you like a more low-key Italian place to eat that isn't very loud. Our first time dining in Valenti's even though we live right in Wyoming. We've heard mixed reviews from coworkers and friends. We made reservations and upon walking and pretty much got ignored at first. Not a good first impression. We noticed that most of the customers were seniors. Once seated, our waitress told us the specials and then quickly walked away. Their style of service is more like being in a diner and not a pretty decent restaurant. They don't offer a wine list so you're limited to the Steak House brand of wines. We ordered a bottle of Cab ($40.. A bit much for what it is. We wouldn't get a bottle of that again). Then we shared the Arancini ($7), which was very good. For entrees we ordered the Delmonico special with came with garlic and long hots ($36). The amount of long hots was over the top.. Way too many. The steak was ordered Medium, but came out extremely well done and like a hockey puck (see pic). It's always disappointing when a restaurant doesn't know how to properly cook a steak. We also had the eggplant parm ($14), which was very good. We didn't stay for dessert. It seems as though the majority of restaurant staff and customers are constantly going outside to smoke. We'd probably go back, but it wouldn't be our first choice. We still prefer Grico's or Fire and Ice. read more

Let me start off by saying that the food is amazing. I have been taking out pizza from Valenti's for a while now. I decided to go out for dinner here and dine at the restaurant for the first time yesterday. I made a reservation and showed up, but they seated my party at a bar table rather than the expected dining room table. I feel this is something that they should ask if that is okay or not, since being a busy college football night, the bar was completely full with many people standing behind it. With all of the people standing, they were directly in front of my table and extremely loud such that I could not hear anyone sitting at the same table as me. Also, the bartender continued to break dishes throughout the experience. When we took our orders, our waitress suggested the featured entrees. Before dining, we had already checked out the features on their Facebook page, so I had already known that I wanted the Delmonico steak that was to come with red bliss mashed potatoes and a vegetable medley. Our waitress Ashlee was extremely sparse throughout the entire course of dining. When my meal arrived, only the steak plate was delivered, and I was told that my sides would be right out. So I of course started to eat my steak that was a a bit more well than medium, but that was not of too much concern. By the time my waitress, Ashlee showed back up at our table I had three bites of steak left and still no sides. I let her know that I did not receive any of my sides, and she rudely blamed me for not letting her know. She then asked if I wanted her to get them for me, despite being done with my meal. She also at this point informed me that they were actually out of the red bliss potatoes and that I would have gotten fries. I feel this is something that should have been relayed when I ordered my meal. For the most expensive meal on the menu, I certainly felt that I overpaid given I did not even receive 2/3 of the meal. Ashlee did not offer any apologies or other ways to render the situation, she simply asked if we wanted the bill. Of course, the full charge for the meal I did not receive most of was printed on the bill. When she returned after charging my card, there were still no apologies or any endearing words prior to leaving. Not to mention, when I walked out of the restaurant I saw Ashlee standing outside smoking a cigarette. Now I know where she was throughout most of my meal, and it has me wondering if she ever even washed her hands before handling our food and drinks. I recommend the food at Valenti's to anyone, which is the only reason for the two stars on my post. The staff are uncaring and the environment was certainly not what I expected when I made a reservation. I would not opt to dine at Valenti's again, but I will continue to take out. read more

Sorry, this place offers huge portions of mediocre Italian homestyle food. A group of four of us recently dined and it was generally a C- meal. If someone tells you this is the best in the area they've never eaten Italian food in the area. We sat in the bar area which was mistake number one. It was loud and the voices carried off the tile floors. Mostly fairly tipsy folks eating a Old Forge style pizza and drinking beer loudly. We ordered 3 salads and one soup for starters. Tried the homemade Italian dressing. The salad was cold crisp and flavorless. Olive oil, oregano and red wine vinegar alone is not Italian dressing. My table mates ordered Balsamic Vinaigrette. Tasted her salad and it was acidic cheap Balsamic Vinegar. Soup never did arrive. Dinner arrived which was two of the Chicken Dijon, a veal scaloppine and my favorite dish Linguini with White Clam sauce. Massive portions. Again: poor flavorless food. My linguini and clams had no garlic, clam or herb flavor. There was barely ANY sauce. True Italian pasta dishes are light join sauce but this was no sauce. The veal was overcooked. The chicken was tenders in a light sauce with a huge portion of Penne. No one finished their meal. Two went in trash and two went home to be given away. I am supportive of family neighborhood restaurants. I've eaten at all the local restaurants at least three times. Some dozens of times: (Agolino's and Mariano's) both excellent. Villa Foglia is good, Grico's can be very good, Pizza Lov'in wonderful but sorry Valenti's has been three poor experiences and the last a few weeks back the worst. read more

Three of us had a meal there Saturday June 30th 2018 was very disappointed one had chicken cacciatore sauce thin and flavorless the side dish of penne was also flavorless , one had ravioli same situation thin sauce and no flavor , other had flounder and said it was just okay . waitress was fantastic customer service was great , nice environment but they need to put some flavor in their food. read more

Cannot even give a one star rating for my recent experience. Was at Valenti's for a family dinner and did not want to make a scene so I just packed up the entree and brought it home. Took photos and called the restaurant several times to speak to the owner but so far today is 1/3/22 and was there 12/1921 and NO response. First, I ordered veal parmesan, one of my favorite entrees. I got a HUGE serving with lots of sauce and cheese on some kind of breading which covered a paper thin slice of something. I took several bites from different areas of the offering and each one was inedible. There was a second slice under the first and it was no better without the sauce/ cheese. The flavor was off-I cannot even describe it, and I cannot identify what the breading even was nor can I tell you it was on any cut of veal I have ever seen. My husband tried it and also said it was not edible. I left a message about my issue and told whoever takes the messages off that I can bring it back in and show them what I was served. And that I want it removed from my credit card. No answer. I finally put the leftover in the trash. And now I am taking action. I will also let my credit card know I am going to fight this charge and the steps I took. The restaurant was really busy, and no one wore a mask and the huge crowd waiting for seating was hovering over our table. Not acceptable to me. Also the women's bathroom needs a makeover to even be at the bottom of my list of acceptable spaces. Extremely small-cannot get near the toilet without sticking your head through the swinging doors on the stall. It was quite cold in there and smelled strongly of mold!!! So since my review I was back and the meals were amazing. I had the shrimp scampi,which was loaded with shrimp, over pasta and it was fantastic. Not swimming in butter which I hate! My son had pizza which he enjoyed. Last time we went it was burnt and the waitress argued with us that that's how they always cook it and customers like it that way, lol. It was black. If your in town, this small family owned restaurant is a must try. Food is generally decent, and they have decent portion sizes for the price. Their pizza is excellent and a must try. Great bar and excellent service especially from John at the bar. I generally find that there are too many great apps to order and dont order the pasta dishes, but did try the eggplant parm and that was excellent. read more

For $14.00, they included only ONE type of meat. The Prosciutto the only meat in the entire Anti-pasta. It was disgusting. Very overpriced and small. Went in for dinner with my family for a special occasion. It was a Thursday night and they were steady, not busy. We called for reservations and arrived five minutes before. We were seated promptly, but our server didn't come over to us for 15 minutes. When she finally came over she took our drink order and we didn't receive them for another 20 minutes. We were just about to leave when she came over to take our order 35 minutes later. We ordered our food and she messed it up, bringing soup out instead of the salads we ordered. We ordered an appetizer of fresh mozzarella and she never ordered it for us. It was a long night and the good we ordered we had packaged most of it because it was just getting to late.
