I was recently back in NEPA for a few days, and naturally, a visit to PAZZO was at the top of my to-do list. When I lived here, this was my go-to spot for amazing Italian food, warm hospitality, and excellent service, all served up with a dash of that Agolino family magic. (Spoiler alert: nothing has changed, and that's a beautiful thing!) The moment I walked in, I was greeted by Chef Sam Agolino himself, and it felt like running into an old friend. He hasn't aged a day (what's his secret?!). I met up with a buddy--another die-hard PAZZO fan--and we settled in for a night of catching up over some truly mouthwatering dishes. Our server was top-notch, giving us plenty of time to chat and reminisce without feeling rushed. Since I was driving, I didn't indulge in one of PAZZO's famous cocktails, but was happy to see that non-alcoholic beer was available. The menu still had some of my old favorites, which made it impossible to choose (in the best way). We kicked things off with salads and two orders of their legendary meatballs. Let me tell you--those meatballs are something I'd order every time I visited and tonight they were just as I remembered them - perfectly seasoned, tender, and absolutely divine. For the main event, I went with the Vitello Neapolitan: breaded veal and eggplant layered with fresh mozzarella over pasta. The veal was melt-in-your-mouth tender, the pasta perfectly al dente, and the sauce? Chef's kiss perfection. My friend opted for the orecchiette pasta and raved about every bite. By the time dessert rolled around, we were so full we couldn't even think about it. Dinner at PAZZO had me questioning all my life choices--like why I ever left NEPA in the first place. But then I stepped outside into the freezing Pennsylvania air and remembered why I traded snow boots for flip-flops in Florida. Still, great Italian food like this is hard to find down south, and PAZZO makes me miss it every single time. The Agolino family has been a culinary staple in NEPA for decades, and it's easy to see why people keep coming back. Chef Sam, Corinne, and the entire team--thank you for an unforgettable evening! Wanting to go here for a while and finally made it for a family night out over the holidays. We made a reservation which was recommended and the hostess sat us immediately. Dining room is cozy and gives you that NEPA Italian restaurant feel. It was busy and felt festive for the holidays. There were 5 of us, so they sat us at a table but there are nice booths along the wall also. Our waitress Stacey was fantastic and the specials all sounded good. The bus staff as mentioned in other reviews was second to none. Food was certainly the best we have had in the area in a WHILE. We ordered the Manicotti, duck, pescatore over linguine and Veal Milanese. Pastas and desserts are made in house. Salads were good(I judge a restaurant by their ceaser salad and they did not disappoint.) Desserts were phenomenal as advertised. Only negative someone might say is they ran out of a special entree and one of their desserts. I always see that as a positive because that means it was good, they were busy and the food is fresh. I was in Scranton for work this past week and a customer of mine who lives nearby recommended we come here for dinner. I started with a dirty martini was made perfectly with just the right amount of dirty. For apps we had the fried burrata and shrimp cocktail. Both were delicious and fresh. I had the spicy seafood pasta for dinner. The sauce was delicious but wasn't that spicy. If you like it hot I'd recommend adding more hot pepper. Just visiting the area for the weekend and decided to stop at this spot! Been disappointed lately with restaurants so my expectations were low. But.... baby!!!!!! This food was sooooo good. I ordered the eggplant and the hubby ordered the rigatoni and calamari and it restored my hope in restaurants again. What a wonderful start to a mini getaway! Great place all around . Service was on point, buser always around to clean up empty plates or bowls from tables while your eating, the calamari was Delicious! Served with arugula butter sauce , the home made potato leak soup was so creamy and smooth. The dinner specials are always unique and very tasty! Went here because we were desperately lost looking for a different restaurant. It looked fine from the outside, the parking lot was reasonably full, so we thought, what the heck. There were three of us. We were seated in the bar because we had no reservations and we did not want to wait. It was great. We all ordered a different pasta dish, and they were all fabulous. I love Italian food to begin with, and this did not disappoint. My husband was thrilled with his Spaghetti and Meatballs - said the sauce was just like his Dad used to make. We ordered a bottle of wine - it was decently priced, and quite good. We did not have dessert (too full) so I can't attest to that, but I can say the wait staff and hostess were all great. The restaurant is greatly disappointing. I travel the world on business and eat at many restaurants and drink my fair share of wine. I just returned from 2 weeks in Italy having spent my time indulging in fine restaurants and Italian wines. I know good restaurants when I find one. This is not a good restaurant. The look and feel of the restaurant is nice. We had reservations and were seated promptly. For the remainder of the evening, the service from the waitress was mediocre at best. Here was the biggest rub. This is an Italian restaurant, but you could never tell from the wine list. Piss-Poor selection of wines and the Italian wine selection was the worst. We saw that there were 2 reds on the list and we picked one. They told us, sorry we are out of that one. I'm thinking, 2 Italian reds on the wine list at an Italian restaurant and they are out of 1 of 2. OK, we'll take the other one. It's $110 which turns out too be a huge ripoff! I knew there was something wrong when it was a 2009 (2 years old) with a twist -off cap for $110. No good wine for that kind of money comes out of Tuscany aged for so short a period of time. I look on my iPhone and it retails for $17. I'm all for restaurants marking up wine 2x which is common, and 3-4x in Las Vegas, again typical. This was 6.5x markup which is beyond reasonable it is a pure ripoff! Why ripoff your patrons? I ordered the Tripe. It was among the better tripe's I've had. My main course, however, was no so good. I ordered the Chicken Parm and it was really not too good. The bed of Orchiette with garlic cream sauce was just not paired right with the chicken and what made it just a bad dish was the sausage that was on top of the chicken and under the melted cheese. One of my friends had the duck with gnocchi and the gnocchi was just disgusting. It seemed as if it was frozen and when they cooked it only the outside got cooked and the inside remained raw. Horrible. Desert was ok. Nothing remarkable. I would not recommend this restaurant and I would not ever go back to this restaurant. C'est la vie. read more

I have been to Pazzo's on a number of occasions over the past couple of years. My wife and I love it. Reservations are a must in my book. Service is always good and we love the food. Had a reservation, but we had arrived a good 30 minutes early, thinking we could have a cocktail at the bar. This was a Saturday, around 645, so no surprise bar was semi-crowded. However, there were 2 empty seats, but split between the other patrons. Instead of the bartender asking patrons to move left or right so at least one of the 3 couples standing with drinks could sit, the seats just stayed open and single for the entire 30 minutes we were there. We at least to find two chairs along the wall, but the bar would have been better. The meal was very goo, service pleasant. Dessert was only a 2 star... brownie was in the microwave way too long. Overall, a good experience, but the manager and/or the bartender or hostess could easily manage the bar area a bit better. read more

I have been to Pazzo's multiple times and have not been pleased in the slightest. They take forever with the food, the staff is very rude, and they never get the meals correct. Today we went and asked for salmon and made it known my sister had a high tree nut allergy and to take out the pistachios. When we got home to give it to her they cross-contaminated her food and we took a trip to the ER. We also had a reservation for 4:30 and didn't get seated till a little after 5 and when asked if the table was ready they responded, "no you've only been waiting for 6 minutes" with an attitude. My husband, son and I enjoyed a lovely dinner at Pazzo for the first time in Jan. 2020. We had never been there before, and we were all pleasantly surprised. The food was prepared perfectly, and was delicious! I have been here before, quite a while ago, but while visiting the WB area recently decided to get a good dinner. I know they have a bar area where you can sit and eat without a reservation. They were very busy that evening, as I understand were short a few people. But the bartender was good at keeping up with the dining room and bar area orders. I was there simply for a good dish of spaghetti and meatballs, the dish I judge all Italian restaurants by. First, the drinks are well poured, a little heavy on the ice but no skimping on the alcohol. I started with lambchop appetizer which was very good. Four lollipop chops, cooked perfect, over arugula with a pesto sauce matched the meat very well. (9) Caeser Salad was good , not great. I wish the dressing was a little stronger for my taste. I need a little more anchovie (7) I ordered the small portion of spaghetti w/ two meatball. Perfect size, pasta done perfect al dente, the sauce was good, a little mild but still very good. THe meatballs were very moist, not hard. They were heavy on the garlic which does not bother me because i like garlic, but others might find overpowering. (9) The pricing is a little high but I feel worth it for the visit, service and food quality combined. My only complaint would be that the food was a little slow that evening. But I negate that with the fact that the food was HOT. One of my peeves is cold food. But all the cooked dishes came directly to the table. (9) read more

Pazzo appears to be an upscale dining experience. Overall the food is no where near the reflection of price. The menu is simple which is a plus for us. The bread is awesome. The lobster ravioli was bland with very little flavor. Our steaks were very good but about double the price. You can get a decent meal here but for us overvalued. This place is always very busy and I think its more of a social gathering than a fine restaurant. read more

The hostess was not very friendly to begin with arrived at 5pm when the restaurant opened and asked if we had reservation. When I said no all I heard was a large sigh then that's ok. The place had less than 10 people in it that were friends with everyone working. The waitress was great. The food was another story. The spaghetti and meatballs tasted like a can of spaghettios. It must have been microwaved the meatballs were hardly warm and the pasta was so hot it was still steaming 20 mintutes later. The dish which has a fancy name but for all purposes is chicken marsala tasted like a pepper grinder on top of watery spinach and instant potatoes. I informed the hostess of the excessive pepper she took the plate back to the kitchen then stood at the podium with two others talking about us. Their heads spun to our table immediately. Then when the waitress brought the bill the chef came to the front by the bar and started starring at us. Sorry to be honest but the food was awful. We had a party of 12 on 12272016. Service was excellent. Drinks were delivered promptly and accurately. Salads were crisp, cool and delicious. Those of us that had appetizers were beyond pleased. The entrees were on a level of restaurants that some of us have visited in Rome, Florence and Naples--yes --the real deal. We already have a reservation for this coming weekend.
