Stuffed flounder topped with jumbo shrimp
Sarah R.

Carmella's happily accommodated our large family and served us a wonderful meal to celebrate a graduation. The service was wonderful and the food was immaculate. Carmela's was a wonderful family style dining experience in which they brought out several courses. We started our dining experience off with antipasto, freshly baked bread, and Caesar salad. Next came the main entrées which included several meat dishes, pasta dishes, and even a seafood dish. We concluded our dining experience with a platter of several desserts. Carmella's is very affordable and our family was very pleased with our experience.

Lobster bisque. Great price, delicious.

I must agree with some other reviews. I've lived in the area all my life and don't recall ever going here. It is in an unusual location and the interior is very vintage, but that sort of adds to the charm. If I were the owner, I might add something to soften the "din" of the openess, maybe some noise reducing ceiling panels, or perhaps a wall or two to segregate the booths from the center of the restaurant and I would add soft music (they eventually did and it was perfect). Service was excellent and the food was very reasonably priced and delicious. We came to use a restaurant.com certificate and it was a celebration. We ordered lobster bisque, clams casino for appetizers. Served fresh and nicely presented. Our main meals were two veal dishes and each one was excellent and nicely presented. During our meal, there was a group celebration utilizing the open center of the restaurant. That was a bit odd, but okay. You can tell that many diners are local and there is a lot of pride in this establishment.

Incredibly long wait just for drinks, sat for an hour and a half and got a plate of bread and one order of drinks. Would not recommend.

I was visiting from Brooklyn to see my family in the area. My friend, who's a local, told me about…read morea place that makes their own pasta and how they have a great lunch. Ok I'm in, I'm Italian, homemade pasta is right up my alley. We sat down, friendly staff (young and distant), but an extremely strange setting. It was like walking into a Wayfair showroom with a pasta kitchen. The branding was a bit horrid in my opinion, but I work in that industry, so I couldn't get over the esthetic before I even got to the food. The TV "paintings" with random art were the "highlight" truly... I'm being too kind. The wedding table numbers, really were killing me in the worst way. This place was like a mishmash of identities with no real clarity of execution or strategy on how to accomplish what they're trying to be. A crash landing of ideas with no real destination. Now the food and drink! The plates were the size of a small luggage! For starters, the "fresh" bread they offered with a rancid tasting olive oil and the tiniest drop of balsamic vinegar was appalling. The calamari was decent at best... it tasted factory made, the coating was thick and it came with the tiniest portions of sauce. I want my calamari, piping hot, with a really thin coating and a ton of sauce, that's just me. The chicken cutlet was a flavorless flour-dredged slab of meat. Barely pounded out and coated in a thin breading, with no seasoning, and it was crazy big! The Gnocchi four cheese was like eating dough turds in glue. The texture was not good at all, and reminded me of undercooked packaged pasta, and weirdly overcooked all the same time... like the water wasn't boiling and they added the pasta in while it was cold. Gnocchi should be pillowy soft and should literally fall apart in the mouth and the cheese sauce should not be like hair gel stuck to the food. It's Italian food, it's supposed to be herbaceous and well seasoned, this was food for non-Italians, who think they could like Italian food if it was just a little more bland and assimilated... without all the immigrant culture, ya know?! The best portion of the dish was the non-alcoholic drink, which is saying a lot. I genuinely hate to leave a terrible impression, but I really hated this meal, and I'm shocked by the reviews. It would seem a lot of people are here for the big portions and cheap food. Not a quality food experience. Everyone's got their own taste!

Picciocchi's is a wonderful addition to downtown. My family has enjoyed their previous location,…read moreand when I moved here in the summer I was excited to see what they had to offer. I have been here three times now, each experience better than the last, which is hard to beat. Very good food, great service, a solid selection of cocktails and nonalcoholic offerings. I have had the ravioli in the signature walnut cream sauce.. delicious, rich. I've also enjoyed seafood, steak, and a bit of my husband's gluten free pasta, which was fabulous as well. The ambiance is very nice, I love that they have a space for coats, and sometimes live music. It can get a bit loud in there, not a lot of material to absorb the sound, but to me this is not a big deal as I am often engaged in conversation anyway, just a little detail to add. I enjoy our time here, and always look forward to the next. Thank you!

This visit wasn't the best- 13 dollars for a small plate of calamari ( normally the portion is double this photo) and it wasn't seasoned at all. However, the crab cakes were amazing so perhaps they redeemed themselves. I do wish they offered a vegetarian version of the soups for those of us that are not meat eaters.

Be forewarned that although the staff were all wearing masks and they do provide hand sanitizer, this is a small restaurant and the tables are fairly close together. There are barriers between some of the tables but some don't have barriers. It didn't bother me but I figure it might bother some people. They have specials listed in the menu as well as additional specials on a board in the dining room. We ended up with three appetizers accidentally which was my fault and not the servers. Actually I'm glad it turned out that way because all three were fantastic. We had lobster ravioli with shrimp which was in a pink sauce and was fabulous. We also had fried calamari. Also delicious. And my wife ordered stuffed clams. I loved how they made the stuffed clams because instead of chopping up the clams they left the clams whole in the shells with the stuffing over the top. Loved that. For our entrées my wife ordered the Stuffed Sole. Although I didn't try it she said it was delicious. I ordered the Veal Florentine. The linguine was cooked perfectly al dente and the sauce was out of this world. However, the veal itself was a little overcooked and chewy. It still doesn't take away from how good everything else was at this restaurant. If you go, I highly recommend getting a reservation. Oh, and get this: 3 appetizers, 2 Entrées, 3 cocktails and 2 beers was less than $100 with 20% tip.
