Absolutely my favorite place to eat when visiting family in Wilkes-Barre. Food and service is wonderful! Very cozy atmosphere too!

Wonderful meal and service. We stopped by without a reservation. We plan on returning to try other items on the menu.

The Canning House - Brulee PBJ

Definitely one of the better brunch options in NEPA, with fun, quirky, eclectic decor…read more They do NOT take reservations and it can get busy, but we waited 5-10 minutes for a table for 2 on a recent busy holiday Friday around 1p. The extensive menu features a variety of brunch options, salads, and sandwiches. Their veggie options are a bit limited, but definitely present (ex: falafel salad, avocado toast), and many of the dishes feature unique combinations and homemade sauces/aiolis. I landed on the Smoked Salmon Avocado toast, which was fine. I was disappointed that it seemed to be made with prepackaged guacamole/avocado (I'm sure for cost reasons), and the bread was pretty thick so it was challenging to eat. Flavor-wise, it was solid, but I think I'll try one of the other, more creative options next time. My cousin chose their turkey sandwich and seemed to enjoy. It was large enough that she took half home! Our food arrived before our matcha lattes, so we wound up asking for to-go cups. The matcha itself was delicious, though sweeter than we anticipated (in retrospect, we should have realized that a "white chocolate lavender matcha macchiato" would be pretty sweet!).

Believe it or not I actually DO recommend this place. Recently had to make a trip up to Wilkes…read moreBarre for some personal business. I googled "breakfast" and this place was closest......I looked at the pictures posted online and decided to give it a try. For one, if you don't know where your going - like me - then this place is going to be hard to find (like it was for me). I'm driving around in the parking lot swearing at my navigation because it was telling me I was there but I can't see a darn restaurant. I get out the car, walk around a bit and see the artwork on the side of the building. Kooky place! It's inside of some type of co-opt building? Best way to describe it from an outsider's viewpoint. I ask for single seating NOT at the bar and they easily accommodated me. Wasn't super busy but it was nicely packed. The girl up front gave me TWO drink menus and their special menu.... When I first sat down and took a look, my initial thought was, "eff this place. It's ridiculous". The waitress explained that I was inadvertently given two drink menus but I should have been given an actual menu. She rectified the situation. I took a look at the ACTUAL menu and thought, "eff this place". All I wanted was a traditional AMERICAN breakfast. Pancakes, omelettes, hash brown and all I read is a bunch of fru-fru nonsense. I head to the bathroom thinking about how much of a friggin redneck I've become while laughing at the thought. So I order the breakfast bowl option because it seemed close to something I would have ordered at a regular diner. I gotta say.... great job! The beer cheese adds a phenomenal flavor profile and the portion was MORE than fair! I added sausage AND bacon (with an upcharge) but it was worth it. This place AIN'T for me....but if you're looking for something unique and a bit different, it could be for you. This is the type of place I'd bring a chic if I was trying to convince her I was cool and hip. Let's face it, though.... there's not a restaurant in American that can convince anyone I'm cool and hip... lmao give this place a try!

Choose your adventure in the land of Fire and Ice; from personal igloos to brunches and wine…read moredinners, you can have it all here! This is my kid's favorite 'fancy' place, so if it's not hibachi, we're here often; but don't let that fool your tastebuds. Quite possibly the best calamari this area has to offer (more than just breaded and fried, it's a nice shareable dish with roasted plum tomatoes, spinach, shaved parmesan, balsamic reduction and optional garlic aioli) and dare-I-say the ICONIC Orange Cognac salad. We did the Italian four course chef's dinner in February and rented an igloo for a friend's daughter's birthday earlier in the month. Both meals were excellent and we were able to order a variety of things to try since the chef's dinner offered some of their staple cocktails to pair, and the kiddos are adventurous in their food journey as well. Oh, great and friendly service as well; you can really settle in and get comfy here!

Stopped in a Friday night, plenty of reservations available with live music on the patio, however,…read morelive music was cancelled due to possible rain. We arrived early and the place was pretty empty, had a drink at the bar and then went to our table outside. The mixed drink options were mediocre and weak. However, ambiance is great, relaxed and casual with a nice view of a small creek waterfall they have installed and fire pit. The service was also great, our server was attentive and witty. We started with clams which were large and we all had surf and turf which comes with sides and salad/soup. The lobster was sweet and delicious, served with filet mignon, mashed potatoes, and green bean/carrot mixture. The filet on the other hand was a bit over cooked per request and also had a smoked taste. The bill was steep with surf and turf being $65.. for a total of $400. Overall, I enjoyed although I agree with other reviews with the prices being a bit out of range for what you get.
