I was in the mood for Italian and tried this restaurant. When I arrived I parked in the private lot. I walked into the bakery area, and the nice man directed me. I sat at the bar and a nice lady gave me the menu. The place was very nice. Alan was the bartender, and I started with the lemon drop martini, and it was super sweet, so after that, I had the pinot nior. I had the special stuffed salmon. When it came out, it looked good. This is a nice place, a really great restaurant with a very competent staff in the heart of Dunmore. If you happen to be in the Scranton area or Northeastern PA (NEPA) in Lackawanna County, check it out. There are 3 areas of dining, the main and 2 separate rooms, of which our party was in. Prices are reasonable considering I live in NJ. The place is spotless. Parking can be challenging. read more

The food and service was absolutely delicious! We decided to order dessert first because they had an Andes mint cheesecake. Typically when I eat dinner I don't ever get dessert because I have food left to take home. I definitely wanted to try the dessert and it was absolutely delicious. The woman who served us kinda chuckled and probably thought we were crazy at first but then laughed about it later. The food was a very good size portion, flavorful, and absolutely yummy. They served bread with some cheese to the table which we also enjoyed. This was our first time visiting here and if this is the typical day to day operations I would highly recommend. read more

It was a perfect day in Northeastern Pennsylvania and my mind turned to outdoor dining. I immediately thought of La Cucina in Dunmore & their back patio. The patio setting is very nice, surrounded by a high fence providing a very private setting from nearby Blakely Street. We were seated right away. Drinks along with waters with fresh lemon arrived quickly. We started with fresh garden & spinach salads. I had ordered the shrimp scampi over linguine and my wife ordered their special chicken and pasta dinner. I added a fine Chianti to accompany my dinner. Both arrived in a very short amount of time. What I got was a sandwich on two barely toasted piece of rye bread with a slice of what looked like week old turkey lunch meat, one piece of undercooked bacon and two slices of of limp tomato. Decided to try La Cucina for my mom's birthday. The restaurant itself is definitely old. Wood paneling with plaid wallpaper. Lots of memoribilia hanging on the walls. You would think more restaurant owners would watch Restaurant Impossible at this point and say, "Hey, that looks like my restaurant! Maybe I should take down the crap on the walls and update the look!". They should definitely have been more crowded than they were and an update to the decor might just be the thing they need to attract a younger crowd. Speaking of crowd, the only people in the restaurant were candidates for retirement communities. Service was slow and the server was uninformed. Asked if the pasta was made in house and first got a no, but then rememberd the cannelloni and manicotti were. The food was actually pretty good. Sausage stuffed mushrooms for an appetizer were awesome. Tender sausage stuffing with a thin slice of mozarella cheese melted on top. I'm not a mushroom fan but these were tasty. I ordered the Cannelloni di Ravello which was spinach pasta stuffed with meat, cheese, besciamella and bolognese sauce. It was incredibly delicious and the pasta was definitely home made. The meat and cheese stuffing was tender and rich. The sauce was just the right consistency and amount, it wasn't swimming in sauce which meant you could actually taste the pasta and filling. My mother ordered the manicotti stuffed with cheese. A little bland on the filling for my taste but good. Pasta was tender and not overstuffed. She commented that her's could have had a litte more sauce. My father ordered the "pasta night" special of angel hair (not made in house) with bolognese sauce and sausage. He said the pasta and sauce were great but the sausage was just ok. I would definitely return when I am in the mood for some good Italian cuisine. The decor took it down from 4 to 3 stars for me and would keep me from bringing a date or group of friends here for a night out. Slow service didn't help in the matter. read more

The authentic Italian style meals are so delicious. The filet of sole is so tender and flavorful. We were there a few nights ago with 12 friends and everyone enjoyed their meals - no complaints! We went for a dinner for three on the patio. For the complimentary bread, we sat down to tasty garlic bread. Our server, Coleen, was very pleasant and accommodating. They had two soups tortellini and chicken florentine. We got a cup and a bowl of each. If you are going to have soup go for a bowl which is just $.50 more. We ordered wine by the caraffe ($20-25). The wine selection was fairly limited and from an unknown label. Most of the entrees come with salad. The asiago-dill was outstanding. Our main portions were incredibly generous and tasty. I had farfalle in a cream sauce with peas and prosciutto. After having a cup of soup and a few appetizers, the portion size was well more than I could eat. I am looking forward to the leftovers. We went here over a year ago and it was eh, ok. There was only one other table full in the restaurant. You could tell that this was a family/locals place to go and it sort of made us feel really strange. We had the calamari as a starter and it was not seasoned at all and just bland. My fiancé ordered the mixed grill with chicken, steak and sausage. The portions were insanely huge! I had the lobster ravioli and they were just ok. We also ordered the tiramisu. We sat outside on a very nice patio with heaters and a gas fire pit. We showed up at 5:30 without reservations, but by the time we left all the inside tables were filled and 1/2 the outside tables, so I recommend getting a reservation. They have a long beer list but they are the average big brewer types, none of the more interesting craft beers, so I settled for a Peroni. My wife was pleased with the wine list. Tasty cheese bread was served before the meal. Jane had Sole which was delicious and was a fair sized portion. I had spaghetti and meat balls. The spaghetti and sauce was very good, a deep thick tomato sauce. The meatballs were tasty but slightly over cooked. Salads came with homemade dressings, asiago and dill which my wife had and I had their peppercorn, both were very good. I believe the fish was $15 and the spaghetti was $13, both which included the salad. While there we met the owner, the manager and 2 servers all who were very friendly and attentive. I like when I see the manager walking the floor and making sure that the restaurant is running properly and the guests are happy.
