Bar Pazzo is the locally owned independent Italian restaurant for about 10 years. This is the first time my friend and I have been here and we were thoroughly impressed. Plenty of seating, nicely organized decorated bar area coupled with a friendly waitstaff. You have to try the whipped ricotta with toasted pignoli with dried fruits on rosemary flatbread. Wow. You could actually make this a meal. Also, the Bucatini with pork/beef partially burnt( on purpose) dish was outstanding with plenty of meat. They didn't skimp on this. Way more than just pizza ! There were 4 of us so we had a chance to sample various things. The place itself is large and alive but the noise level is not overwhelming. The Crispy Wood-oven Duck Wings served on a Polenta Waffle with 5 spice was delicious as well as different. And speaking of different, how about a Mexican Street Corn Pizza with Cotija Cheese which was recommended by our fun and knowledgeable server Gavin. It was delicious. When Gnocchi was ordered he cautioned that it was not the usual take on this dish but a Roman Gnocchi made with semolina, egg, cheese and butter. The topping was unique and the total dish amazing. Both the Wood Oven Roasted Spanish Octopus with Castelvetrano Olives and Golden Raisins as well as Prime Pork Rib Chop Calabrese with Fried Onions and Charred Shishitos were both excellent. We decided to stop by Scranton on the way to NY since my husband is a fan of the TV show Office. Browsing dinner options, Bar Pazzo looked promising. Though we were not able to get a table as a walk-in, we were able to sit at the bar. The service by our waiter was professional, yet friendly and attentive. We ordered one pizza and one pasta dish, and they were very good. Honestly everything looked good. I wish I could have tried more. Came here for dinner on a weeknight. Good ambiance and good service! Our waiter Ryan was very accommodating, knowledgeable about the menu, and offered great recommendations. We started with the charcuterie board (small) this was a great amount for the price. I also got the vodka rigatoni. The sauce was sweeter than I typically like my vodka sauce, that said it was still very good and the sweetness can be offset by the cheese. After strolling into Scranton to NYC I felt hungry and ask chatgbt what places can I go to to in Scranton with this nice weather since the weather 70 degrees. Chatgbt suggested this place and did not disappoint. This place is amazing! We went on a Saturday and thought we had to pay the parking meter since in NYC you have to pay everyday lol but luckily we didn't. The food was amazing but most importantly the service was great! Emily was our server! Please ask for her shes such a great person and so attentive! We had the pepperoni pizza and the pasta bolognese omg so good!! This place is so good! It will be hard to find a place to too this. From the moment we got there the staff were so welcoming and nice. The atmosphere is great for date night, family visiting out of town, a family special event, or a girls night out. The decorations are shabby chic/modern abstract. The food! The food! This place never disappoints. We walked in on a Wednesday late afternoon. Sat at the bar. Kaitlin was bartending and she was just a delight. So welcoming and accommodating. Love their meatballs. Ordered the pizza calabrese which was delicious with just the right amount of spice. Also the dark chocolate Oreo gelato was terrific. They always have a great feature draft IPA, also. They fell way short and we were all definitely disappointed. Not only was the food just ok, but we were encouraged to order the steak special. Cold eggplant and the size of a quarter, chicken thighs one normal size and a small piece on a bed of wet rice and a few mushrooms flavorless, cappelletti (8) dried and looked like old pasta no sauce and burnt walnuts. I have been wanting to try this place and finally did. When I arrived I parked right in front. I walked into a cute restaurant. I sat at the bar, and Megan was my bartender. I got a strawberry martini, which she suggested but wasn't too fond of it, so I got the lemon drop martini instead. For my dinner, I wanted to try the chicken thighs, but it came with sausage, so I asked for it to be removed. It came out with sausage in it, so i had to send it back and got the margarita pizza instead. That pizza, I will say, was delicious! I really enjoyed the flavors! Went here for my little sister's birthday and ordered the BEST dip I've ever had in my life. It was a goat cheese dip with pine nuts, golden raisins and olive oil drizzled on top. I could have ordered 32 of these for dinner and I would have been satisfied. The bread that comes with it is doughy with sea salt flakes. Found this gem while traveling to Scranton and I can't wait to go back! It's an upper scale Italian pizza place and you immediately felt like you were in a big city restaurant. I got the meatballs because literally everyone told me I MUST have them and they did not disappoint! Only sad part was forgetting them in my hotel fridge the next morning. I also got the Spring Onion Soup which was a take on French Onion but I found it off putting. Pungent cheese and the fat too large piece of crusty bread soaked up all the soup.
