I did something stupid and I have zero regrets. I knew it was stupid. The waitress knew it was stupid. As did everyone at the bar. And you know what? I'd do it again in a heartbeat. Many years ago, I went on a little tour of Old Forge pizza. We tried the red. We tried the white. We went to the famous places. We went to the dives. But somehow we never made it to Anthony's? Maybe it was their hours? Maybe it was because the Old Forge white was not available by the cut? It's hard to say. But what I know for sure is that I came out of the tour with a deep abiding love for Old Forge white with broccoli. IMHO it needs the broccoli. Regrettably, my old favorites for white with broccoli have fallen from grace, which is a loss. But the silver lining is that I have found Anthony's and their white broccoli is amazing! An entire white broccoli pie is a staggering quantity of food. So when I walked up to the bar as a solo diner, and placed my order of a white broccoli pie for here, the waitress looked a little uneasy and paused for a moment. In the pause, I acknowledged that I knew I was ordering enough food for a crew, and that I expected to be taking much of it home. It also takes a staggeringly long time to bake something that large in an oven. And I knew that going in. So I nursed my Yuengling, and even took a few nibbles of bread and butter that were brought out while I waited. I have to say, that first bite just had me swooning, and I don't swoon easily. The top crust was beautifully seasoned with herbs, spices, and onions. The bottom crust was golden and crisp. The cheese was oozing and broccoli was bursting forth. Please, please, please eat this pizza in the restaurant. It's glorious when it first comes out of the oven. The longer it sits, the less crisp the bottom becomes. Trust me. It's worth it. With the beer, tip, and taxes, the whole thing set me back $33. Obviously there were leftovers too. My original plan had been to offer cuts of the pie to other folks at the bar, but by the time I got there, everyone had already eaten, so I wasn't able to give away a single cut. So it goes. And I did push myself to eat more than I should have. Slice one was a revelation. Slice two a delight. Slice three felt more like a dare. And slice four? That was pure hubris. I only got a couple of bites in and then I had to tap out. But I wanted to tackle at least half of the pie on premise. So it goes. I learned something about myself that night, but more importantly, I discovered a new Old Forge institution, to which I am looking forward to returning time and time again. P.S. I should note I saw lots of food come out, and really all the portions are huge. Just like I could have split this with a couple other folks, the same is true for every dish was brought to the bar. read more

Delicious food! I was in like a table of 11. I got one of their specials, a fried Pork chop with a butter dip. Really good, the dip makes it really filling! The pasta is really good as well, and I myself am a pasta fan. The only con for the whole visit here was the table room, felt crowded, maybe that is just a group thing, but still. Good food. This meal made our anniversary complete! We sat at the bar, as is our norm. We had stuffed mushrooms (3 large ones with SO much crabmeat!), salad with fresh lettuce etc and the best dressing, and a drink to start. The bartender is amazing/ so personable and makes such a great drink personalized just as we asked. Our entrees were a 10 oz filet and sole crab and scallop with a basil cream sauce. Each was perfection!! The meat was done perfectly and the sauce on the fish was so good I could drank it in!! We each got the twice baked potatoes and green beans- dinner perfectly! For dessert, we got a mini lemon meringue pie and a berry cake. I also got decaf coffee and they made it fresh just for me. My husband thinks this is the best meal we've had in a long time-- all for $135 (without tip). The place is busy but the service is still attentive and professional. Had dinner last night. Reservation was for 6.30 pm 2 people. Told someone was at our table and we would have to wait. Another waitress took us to a table which, for 2 people, was very tight seating as I had to move my chair out from the wall in order to sit. My husband was pressed right against the table which made it very difficult to enjoy what was a delicious meal. Service, Food, drinks all excellent but I believe with their new remodel they may be trying to put in as many tables as possible. My husband and I are not large people and when another party was seated behind us, the chairs were banging next to each other. The place otherwise is very nice. It's a small, warm, friendly family restaurant. The only reason I didn't give it a five is that it took some time before we got our food. We made a reservation, so we were seated relatively quickly. I ordered the Haddock fish, broiled with a lump of crab meat on top, with a side order of twice-baked potatoes and string beans. I must say it was very delicious. My husband had the chicken marsala, baked potatoes, and string beans, which he said was also delicious. Our waitress was pleasant and warm and checked to see if we needed anything during our meal. While out of town for work, I visited this restaurant. When I arrived I parked on the street nearby. I walked in and sat at the bar. Matt was my bartender, and he was great! I started with the lemon drop martini, and it was delicious. I then got the Pinot nior, and it was good. For my meal, I went with the special Chilean Sea Bass. When it came out, it looked delicious. Visited Anthony's for a birthday dinner as a party of 8. We were promptly seated in the dining room and greeted by our server who took our drink order. The bartender Matt is likely the best bartender I have ever experienced. My espresso martini was phenomenal! We ordered the Seafood fra Diavolo, chicken, 9 oz filet mignon, stuffed haddock and everything was served hot and well seasoned. The only negative comment is the noise level inside the dining room. At times, it can get very loud but all that is forgotten when the food is served. If you're looking for a great meal you have to visit Anthony's! read more

This is now our favorite Italian restaurant (especially since Arcaro and Genell went exclusively to take out). Love the atmosphere at the bar. Service is always great and staff is friendly. I had dinner on Saturday evening. Usually a good experience. I ordered the Lasagna ( special), and my companion ordered the Crab & Scallops in basil cream sauce. The server offered a potato or pasta as a side. He ordered the side of pasta with Alfredo sauce. Blue cheese dressing with crumbles, I asked for extra dressing for my salad. Portions were good meals were fine although the lasagna was slightly bland. Got the check and was surprised to see a $1.00 charge for the extra dressing, $2.00 for the blue cheese crumbles, and a $6.95 charge for the Alfredo . I'm not cheap by any means but this added $10.00 to the bill. The server should have advised there would be up charges. I dine out every Saturday all over the valley and this is the first time I've experienced this. Needless to say I doubt I'll return. read more

Fist at and foremost let me say I had very high expectations for this place given the glowing reviews I see on here. Unfortunately the dinner I had this evening was bland and tasteless. The prices are way overpriced $12.50 for two overcooked stuffed mushrooms. $15.00 for steamed clams that half the clams were empty. The "spicy" red sauce had no seasoning and was bland. Had a family birthday dinner for 7 on a Sunday night. I thought it would be less crowded but I was wrong. The restaurant was crowded and total time for Apps/Dinner/dessert was a little over 2 hours.
