We will never come back! Very poor service. I asked for broiled salmon no Cajun seasoning. I get blackened salmon. I sent it back and she brought me the same piece back and asked if it was any better? I said no, it is the same piece. She said no it was not. I said yes it was. And she kept telling me it was a different pc when clearly it was not when I pointed out to her I tasted it and you could see where I tasted it. Then someone else came over to talk about my meal and started arguing with me over how it was prepared. A customer should have never have to experience 2 people arguing with them about how the food was not properly made. I said to the 2nd woman I do not appreciate her arguing with me. I am telling you how the food was not properly made and you are telling me I am wrong?! Those 2 women made our experience horrible. The 2nd woman made it much worse. What should have happened is bring out the correct food, apologize and be done with it! Not argue. We will not be back. But I do not think that they will care, they take care of the people that they want. There are plenty of excellent restaurants near by and we will go there instead. read more

Here's an update. Bride and I went this Sunday night. We didn't have reservations, there was a private party, the place was packed. We couldn't get in. So instead, we went to a different upscale Old Forge establishment right down the street from Anthony's, it shall remain nameless. Here's the bottom line: it wasn't even close. Fantastic meal and experience. I went with my family and enjoyed everything. I had the chicken francaise with a twice baked potato. Both were very good. We also split some of the white pizza as an appetizer and that was very good as well. The pizza was delicious and the bottom was almost pan-fried, which was different for white pizza. It was nice to have the pizza be lighter, which I cannot say is normal for white pizza as it can get heavy and greasy. The only thing that wasn't so great was the soup. I got a bowl of chicken noodle soup and it had a bit of a watery taste and was not all that hot. The restaurant was very crowded and we needed to wait a little bit for the food, but it was worth it. Everything besides the soup was so good I can't knock down the rating for that alone. read more

After a botched reservation at a restaurant down the street we stopped at Anthony's. We had been here a few times and they never disappoint. After leaving a place moments before that had horrible service we were greated at the door by the staff and told them we did not have a reservation. They welcomed us in and cleaned a table near to kitchen to accommodate us. We had the antipasta which is the best in the area hands down. I had the meat ravioli with meat ball and my wife had the half roasted Italian chicken. Both meals were fantastic. I have been to Italy many times and if you want the feel of what the atmosphere is like in an authentic Italian restaurant this is it. read more

First of all... the parking lot at this place sucks. It's located behind the restaurant and there's only room for about 4 cars to fit comfortably but somehow 7 cars pull in there. AND there is NO ROOM TO TURN AROUND. You HAVE TO back out into oncoming traffic, 50 feet from a main intersection. Dumb. Really poorly thought out. Dangerous. When you first walk in the front entrance, you actually entrance you actually are in the bar of the place. There is regular table seating to the side and maybe 8 bar seats. I wasn't there to drink but a quick glace at the bar revealed two things: not the hugest selection of liquor and an BEAUTIFUL black marble granite bar with red spots peppered in. Very modern, yet classic and sleek. The hostess is actually located in the middle of the restaurant, which caused some initial confusion when we first walked in. One of the attentive waitresses in the front area pointed us in the right direction. The main seating area was plain, but classic and recently updated. And clean!!! The menu is a pretty extensive Italian menu. Everything that you'd expect to see @ an Italian restaurant. I ordered the Chicken Marsala w/ sun dried tomatoes. It came with a salad and vegetable. Both the salad and the meal were OK, but nothing really mind blowing. They don't have an extensive selection of wines, but the ones they do have a pretty good. Anna Spinato Pinot Grigio is good if you like Italian whites. We also got a couple of desserts for the table... cheesecake and some triple chocolate cake. Good stuff! The service was decent and and our waitress although not the friendliest was attentive and knowledgeable. No real complaints there. The restaurant was at about 1/2 capacity on a Friday @ 6:00PM during lent. Mostly older folk. Like ancient. It almost felt I was eating dinner @ a retirement home. The overall experience was not good enough to to make me want to go back, but others might enjoy it. TIPS: -Park in the CVS lot across the street - DO NOT USE THEIR LOT. -It's probably a good idea to make reservations, especially if you are in a group. -They have 'Early Bird' specials. The complete meal (salad, dinner, dessert) comes at a discounted price. Check their website... for details. -This is another place where the mens room opens right into the view of a seating area and the bar. It's awkward. Make sure your the door is locked. read more

First time my husband and I have been there. Everyone that works there is super nice! Our waitress was awesome! My husband got the seafood fra diavolo and I had one of the specials of scallops with crabmeat over spinach in a butter sauce. We both had soups that were both great, and he had a sampler appetizer that was good and I had the prosciutto wrapped asparagus over tomatoes and fresh mozz. and that was super fresh and amazing! My only complaint was that there were fruit flies (or some little annoying gnat bug) flying all around us while we were trying to eat. I'm on the fence between giving 2 and 3 stars here. My parents were so excited to take me to one of their "old school favorite places" they'd been coming to for a long time. First off, this place was SO loud that I was yelling on the top of my lungs to speak to either my mother or father (because they couldn't both hear me at the same time). Today, my voice is partially lost... Their "Special Menu" comes with NO prices listed. I never heard of such a thing! My father asked if anyone else complains about that, and they said that usually no one is bothered by it. Wow, maybe everyone else has bottomless pockets. When he started asking the prices of the things on the special menu, our server handed us over to another server named Shari (who was excellent, but the way). Dad ordered some pizza as an appetizer. I was expecting an authentic Italian pizza, but it was nothing exciting and my dad says he remembered it being good before. The wine was just ok, and so was my potato encrusted salmon. Neither of my parents really enjoyed their meals and they said they'd give 2 stars for them. My mother said this place just broke her heart. Even the next morning they apologized for the experience and said they'll never go back again. I guess the same goes for me! read more

Anthony's is one of my favorite restaurants in NEPA and I have been eating there for many, many years. However, that usually provides for some awkward experiences as I am 23 (started going there when I was 16) with groups of friends. So, I am usually surrounded by people much, much older. Nonetheless, the menu offers many options that will likely have you bringing home some leftovers. You get some fresh bread and antipasto to start off your meal. Many of their dishes come with various sides as well as a soup or salad, and the portions are generous. Besides the usual menu, they have numerous specials to choose from. Also make sure to leave room for dessert! They will bring out a dessert tray full of many tempting options (my favorite is the chocolate lava cake!). As others have mentioned, their parking lot is a joke and you're better off avoiding it and parking at CVS. read more

My wife and I went to Anthony's for dinner on Friday night. We wanted to try someplace new, and Anthony's came highly recommended. A quick note about parking: park in the CVS lot across the street. They have a tiny parking lot behind the building, but the CVS lot is quick and convenient. First, we were promptly given water, fresh bread, and a delicious homemade pasta salad. Both the bread and pasta salad were quite nice. We each got a salad; my wife got the Caesar salad, and I got a night special: a pear salad with crumbled blue cheese and walnuts over mixed greens with a honey vinaigrette. My wife enjoyed her salad, although she felt they put too much Caesar dressing, too much, in fact, for her to finish it. As for mine, it was superb. Every bit of it was delicious; the honey vinaigrette, blue cheese, pears, walnuts, and greens all went together perfectly. I wish they'd had smaller portions of the salads, though; both were huge. For entrees, my wife got the homemade gnocchi in vodka cream sauce, and I got the herb-encrusted rack of lamb in brandy sauce with vegetables and a twice-baked potato. She adored the gnocchi; I tried it myself, and I can vouch that it was fantastic. For being incredibly picky with her pasta sauces (we both grew up in Italian families), she told me it was the best vodka sauce she'd ever had. She also ordered a meatball on the side, and had two complaints with it: she didn't like it, and it was in regular spaghetti sauce, not vodka sauce. I tried it, and thought it was perfectly fine (she is super-picky with meatballs). As for the sauce, I'm sure that they prepare them for the night in the red sauce, so I get it, though I wish she'd had the option for a plain meatball to throw in her gnocchi. The lamb was...well, here's the thing. It was $22, and for that cost, I've seen smaller lamb chops, let alone a whole rack. It was cooked perfectly (I requested medium), and the herb crust was absolutely amazing. Coupled with the brandy sauce, I cannot say this enough: it was the best lamb dish I've ever had. The vegetables (carrots and zucchini) were also very good, but the twice-baked potato was a disappointment. For one thing, I've had twice-baked potatoes tons of times that were either too hard or too mushy; this one was the perfect consistency, which makes the fact that it was utterly bland even worse. Fortunately the brandy sauce, drizzled over it, helped it. We also got desserts, though they were not homemade (although they were still quite good). She got a white Sangria with her meal, and I got a Malibu Bay Breeze martini. Both were great, though with $9 price tags each, I'd probably forego them the next time around. All in all, I was incredibly impressed with Anthony's, and we are already discussing when we'll next visit. The few flaws were easily outweighed by the many great things they did. I still can't get that lamb out of my head; just delicious. Great stuff. read more

A large group of coworkers and I dined at Anthony's last week. I had the opportunity of trying bites of a few appetizers and the Penne alla Vodka with Shrimp. The appetizers - calamari and mushrooms - were OK but nothing special. The Penne alla Vodka was absolutely delicious but the additional $4 spent on 6 small, chewy, and flavorless shrimp was not worth the price. Service was fine but a little confusing. Two different waitresses served my one table, so after my waitress had taken several orders, she just walked away from the table, leaving a coworker only 10 seconds away from jumping in to place her order. Plan to find a parking spot on the street. Anthony's parking lot may be the smallest parking lot I've seen in my life. My in-law's driveway is definitely larger than their parking lot. read more

After 10 years of loyal patronage, we are parting ways with this restaurant because we were treated horridly after mentioning that we received 2 trays of burnt pizza the prior Friday 2/9/18. We called that night, took pictures to show them, they said they'd call us back and never did, but like usual we went again this weekend for our ritual pizza, on Friday night, and we brought up what happened the prior Friday and by now, we had ordered our meals and soups, and the waitress comes out with the 2 free trays of pizza and tells us the owner wants us to leave and was not making our chicken franchise's we ordered. I cannot express the shock and the rudeness we experienced. So, its with a heavy heart after 10 years we are no longer going to be a customer of Anthonys. The waitress was rude too and to hear the "owner" is the one who supposedly told us to leave is shocking. The fact that they didn't talk to us the night it happened on 2/9/18, and never called back, after saying they would, had no feelings in regards to us being such long time customers, combined with their aggressive, nasty attitude about this incident--showed us how little we were valued and how much they value their pride instead. Then they lied about the owner being on site tonight, the waitress said the owner wasn't there, then the owners daughter came to the table and said the mother was there...the other waitress sees her talking to us, runs over and says "NO the owner is not here"......lying through her teeth. Save your money! Go to Arcaro & Genells or Colarussos where your patronage will actually be appreciated. My personal opinion is when you have a rude waitress/staff, with uncompassionate owners who refuse to hear the truth when they burned a pizza and basically blame the customer, you have a perfect recipe for losing customers! It's a shame it has to be this way but remember this is how you chose to handle this situation. Morale of the story: Don't complain if you get burnt pizza that's hard as a rock because they can't handle hearing the truth. They'd rather lose a customer than do the right thing? It was my first time at Anthony's last night and it definitely won't be my last. First off, the atmosphere was great and so was our waitress. The calamari was delicious and perfectly cooked. My grandmother wanted to try the red pizza as an appetizer because we all have never had it before and every person at the table was impressed by how good it was. The salad was good and the house balsamic dressing was outstanding. Second, we've been searching all over the valley for a place that serves delicious, homemade meat ravioli's and I think we've definitely found the spot! My father ordered the veal served with cooked vegetables and absolutely loved it. On top of that, the portions were generous with every meal. The dessert was great too - lemon meringue pie, homemade chocolate cake, etc.! Lovely place with great food. Highly recommended! read more

Who would have thought such a fine place exists in Old Forge? While the food is as good as I've had in Rome itself, the staff is warm and friendly; you are in their home, and they are glad to see you! I had the gnocchi, which was wonderful, but I was there with friends and tried too much of each thiers. Manicotti and pizza, steak (great steaks!), and salmon. I just had dinner at this restaurant tonight. It was one of the worst experiences I ever had. Our dinner took 2 hrs. During those 2 hrs we were pretty much ignored. No water was refilled. No explanations or apologies for the wait. When the food came my son's salmon was raw and had to be sent back. The waiter at that point said something about an oven breaking. Which I know can happen but at least don't ignore a table for 2 hrs. I can't even say the food was great. No stars given here. I can barely even muster one star.. read more

I was generally pleased with our dining experience. Service was pleasant and accommodating. While I wasn't blown away with the meal, it was prepared well and to my liking. This is a very good Italian restaurant. They have one of the best chicken Marsala dishes I have ever had. They have very good service and I would certainly recommend it as a good date destination. The things that keep it from getting a 5th star is the somewhat pricey menu and the fact that a good Italian joint in Old Forge is not really rare. Wow! This place was excellent. I have not been to an Italian restaurant like his in years. It's clearly well-loved by the owners and there is a passion in what they do. A party of 7, all of our meals were excellent well-priced - with great soup/salad options and sides. The pasta sauces were incredible as was the salmon. I had veal francaise and it was incredible. The sauce was delicious and it was cooked perfectly. Bread, a small bowl of pasta to start. What else can you ask for? Oh, great service! And our waitress was terrific. She got everything ordered correctly, efficiently, learned our kids' names, and was so attentive and nice. What a great experience. I would run back here to eat in a heartbeat. Excellent! read more

My group was in the area visiting Steamtown and we asked at a our hotel for a list of local restaurants, I prefer local over those chain micro wave restaurants. The desk clerk recommended several restaurants, but put Anthony's at the top of her list, boy was she right. Absolutely correct, the service was excellent and fun, food was authentic, nice size drinks, casual atmosphere and the prices were just right. My wife and I tried Anthony's a few months ago on the advice of a friend. It is a very nice, clean and cozy little restaurant. The waitresses were very attentive to us and were very friendly and personable. We had the steamed clams which were very clean and very good, the crabcakes which were excellent as well. We both had the filet mignon which was absolutely "melt in your mouth...oh sooooo good". We went back about a month ago and had the same things, but got some pizza to go when we were finished. We received the same excellent service and the same excellent food. The pizza was also very tasty as well. We are going tomorrow for another visit and I am sure that the cleanliness, service and food will again be "5" stars! read more

Let me first say that I loved the updated clean look of this place. Really nice. I had the best Dirty Martini I ever had. Our waitress was very friendly and was very helpful for the first part of our dinner. Service started out great but when they got a little busy service stopped. When we were done with our meal we sat waiting for our waitress to order coffee & desert for 35 minutes. Finally I asked a different passing waitress for coffee. We didn't order desert because we were just frustrated at that point and wanted to leave. The food was good. Not great but good. Scampi was bland and shrimp was tough. I know that most reviews are positive regarding service but I'm not going to lie. I don't like being ignored for 35 minutes because they were short staffed. I do know that sometimes in restaurants waitresses prefer to be a little short staffed because they can make more $. I get that but I think that management should make sure to not let this happen. This evening as I could see a few large groups came in but they all had reserved tables. That's when service stopped for us. Our waitress walked through the dinning room several times and did not look at our table. I have heard great things about this restaurant but I feel they have to hear the bad too. I'm sure this is not the norm. I do hope they read these reviews. I like that in this area there are several great Italian restaurants. I love Italian food. Fact. 90% of customers will not ever complain to the waitress & management. It makes customers feel uncomfortable. They simply will not come back. read more
