Omelet with wheat toast and hash browns
Meredith C.

The ambiance is nice and fitting for the hotel restaurant, which is a former train station. The set-up is nice with tables appropriately spaced and linen tablecloth and linen napkins. We were welcomed by the hostess and seated promptly. The servers were attentive and polite. We had our water and coffee filled throughout the dining experience. Additionally, our order was taken promptly and the food arrived in a reasonable amount of time and was hot. The price was reasonable given the higher end feel and quality of the food. The food was worthy of a '4' rating. Everything was rather good other than the hash browns which I found to be overly salted (and I love salt!) and mushy where I prefer some crispiness to breakfast potatoes. The flavor of the hash browns was good though. The biggest opportunity was the order was mixed up. Our table of six included three orders of omelets that were each subtly different. I believe we actually got what we ordered in the aggregate but each of the three dishes wasn't what we ordered.

We had breakfast here for 4 days in a row while staying at the hotel - very nice venue in the main area of the former train station. We were here during the middle of the week, so we didn't have to worry about crowds. All of our servers were friendly & efficient. Speed of food arrival was good and we were happy with our choices - the real star is the location...the nicely appointed lobby of the former railroad station. Plenty of things to look at while your seated in the cavernous room, including tiled murals lining the walls. Currently 2.0 is only open for breakfast until 11am. I would suggest visiting just for the atmosphere!

Very appealing decor in a redecorated train station. You will have foot traffic in the area since it's open to the lobby of the Radisson hotel. The pork chop ,which they say is one of their specialties, I found not bad but a little to salty. It also needed some sort of sauce along the side. The soup was exceptional and my wife loved her duck. The waitress was very nice. Expect a longer wait time to receive your food( about 60 minutes) since it's prepared fresh.

Three fresh eggs, spinach, feta, tomatoes. Toast, fruit*, and bottomless coffee. *again with the honeydew?

Sunday breakfast omelet for $11 ! Pros: Great for hotel guests, good prices, good quality Cons: nothing (Can't give 5 stars for a regular omelet) Hint: don't sit next to the kitchen entrance--very high traffic area. The historic architecture creates an atmosphere that is spectacular. After eating, make sure to go see the historic photos on display, etc. Sunday morning brunch starts at 11 for $23. Service was great.

Brunch at Carmen's for Valentines Day!
Shirley D.

I went to Carmen's Restaurant for brunch on Valentine's day and it happened to be on a Sunday - we read somewhere that Carmen's Restaurant is famous for their Sunday brunch! We called in at around 10:30 am and asked to make a reservation and they said the earliest was at 11 am (they open at 11). We were staying at the Hilton nearby so we were just walking around Scranton and hanging out at one of the coffee shops to kill time so I can't comment on the parking situation. When we walked in we were greeted by the hostess and she sat us down at a table. I have to point out that the service was great - every single server was very attentive with refilling our coffee/oj/water. As for the food, this is a buffet style restaurant. They had a variety of dishes which I took pictures of for your reference! A few of the foods that stood out to me - meaning I could've eaten them for days haha - was the smoked salmon, mixed berry french toast (so good!), eggs benedict, the cannolis, and the cheesecake!! They also had chocolate fondue (not sure if this was just for Valentines Day) with fresh fruit (strawberries, cantaloupe, etc) and a bunch of different desserts. Overall, I enjoyed the decor (it sort of made me feel like I was in reception for something), the food was good, and the service was great.

Beautiful place. We ate at a weekday lunch buffet where no one hurried us. Lee, the manager, gave us a short talk and tour.

So starting off, I went to Ipanema Grille with my husband and wife, with a gift card. It was a…read moreChristmas gift. Not some place we would necessarily go to on our own, but it sounded fun. There was the option for Rodizio (endless table side meat with the buffet as well) or Boardwalk which is just the buffet. We chose to do the Rodizio all 3 of us. The buffet, was underwhelming. As a positive I will say each item we grabbed from the buffet was absolutely delicious, the correct temperature, and FRESH! They refill their boardwalk bar constantly. The buffet just didn't have many options. There were 2 tables basically side by side. One hot side where there was garlic broccoli, brown sugar carrots, mac and cheese, beans, rice, mash potatoes, and sweet potatoes, shrimp (which my wife adored) etc. In the middle a very amazing yucca stew. Then cold side had regular salad bar options, tomatoes, cheeses, lettuce, dressing, potato salad, pesto pasta, etc. Maybe if we went with the boardwalk option which was $39 something we would have been fully satisfied. However we did pay $70 each for the Rodizio. There were 13 meats, we were there for 2 hours and didn't try all the meats. The meats came pretty slowly with big breaks in between and some cuts of meat went right by us over and over. As well my husband and I requested medium rare, and consistently were offered well done or very well done meat. As well some of the meat was under seasoned in some cases. Some of the meat when it was actually medium rare was absolutely phenomenal, like the lamb with rosemary was all of our favorite. Again to some positives, the owner was very involved, walking around and asking everyone how they were, the entire staff was friendly. The tables were cute with candles in the middle, and the atmosphere was cozy. The place isn't very big so as more people fill in it gets a bit loud and hard to hear your gaucho say what meat they are offering, but they kindly repeated for me over and over despite my terrible hearing. The drinks seem to be amazing, we tried both sangrias white and red, and then got a pitcher we ended up taking most of home (yes they let you!). Which I thought was awesome, and the sangria is to die for! Like I said the meat was slow and inconsistent, but worse was our server, which I will not name because she was a teen and maybe this is her first job, but she consistently walked past us without checking in. Finally we flagged her down to beg for a water refill, and she refilled half the rooms water and stood talking in the kitchen for a bit, before getting us any. Now lastly to dessert. I got the liquor chocolate cake, it was delicious, but in my opinion quite small, though admittedly I'm a fat girl, so I like a good size dessert. My wife also got a dessert, the flan, she also complained it was small. They also only put like 3 strawberries on each which was disappointing because it enhanced the flavor a lot. All in all, it's a fun experience. 10/10 for kindness and vibes. 9/10 for the quality of the buffet. 7/10 for buffet variety 5 or less really, for actual service. Our bill was for three rodizios, two desserts, one beer, one glass white sangria, one glass red sangria, and a pitcher of white sangria. Mind you it was a Tuesday and they do sales of almost half price on sangria by the glass and pitcher. Our bill came out to about $308. I don't feel our experience met expectations. When we go out for anniversaries we drop $300 or more without thought and a good tip, (special occasions we go all out). So we considered if we liked this place coming back for our anniversary, but I wouldn't bother. I left a small tip for the lack of service, and would never go back. I still would recommend it to others if they have patience, maybe speak up more than I did about meat preference, and just want the experience. Go and see for yourself, but just keep in mind to be vocal about preferences, and ready to wait.

My wife & I were traveling from Virginia to NH and found this restaurant by mistake so we didn't…read morehave a reservation but the host was able to find us a table and we had the most amazing, delicious meal! Tons of events and trivia in their schedule for folks looking for a night out on weekdays or weekends. The interior is mildly psychedelic with music. The food was fine. We got the burger and nachos. I was between giving 3 and 4 stars. Service was slow but the venue was busy, there was an event, and the night crew was picking up when we were there. The buffalo chicken nachos were fine. We appreciated the crispiness of the tortilla chips and the excellent cheese sauce that was well-distributed on the chips. There was tomato among other veggies that I do not remember. The chicken was fine for me on a cut. However, it had the texture of boiled chicken which I wasn't a huge fan of. Still had to get my protein in. I really enjoyed the burger. The bun was a soft potato roll. The patty was a little cooler. Between a cold burger and soggy nachos I certainly would choose the cool burger. This was made up for with the large volume of burger that was deliciously crispy. The pickles accompanied the burger with a secret mayo-based burger sauce. If warm, it could be a 5/5 burger. Overall, the experience was fine. I would go here on a week day rather than 6 on Friday, though.

I would say that this is probably the best deep dish pizza that I've tried in a while and I used to live in the Midwest. The crust was super crunchy and very buttery, which is great. You could definitely taste a jar of the cheese on the side and the crispiness of the bottom of the crust not only that, but I felt like the toppings were just amount of flavor. There was onions on there. There was corn on there. It just felt very very hearty. it's definitely heavy dish but it hits a spot if you're looking for a deep dish pizza they did it very well. I would definitely come back for this steep dish pizza and honestly, I could only get through two slices on my own definitely enough for two people to eat comfortably and not that expensive too was 13 bucks

It's a beautiful place, nice lounge area, classy bar (pls remember you're still at a nice place, cough cough backward hat guy...). We sat down at our candle lit table and got complimentary water and our waitress sent over some bread and olive oil... the waitress with the bread, well wasn't the most social person. She gave us each a big piece of bread and some olive oil. We did request black pepper in the oil which I suggest. The bread was also cold which was strange. 6/10 For appetizers we got beef carpaccio and calamari. The beef carpaccio came out with a oniony creamy dip, arugula, onion, capers, and dill in the middle on top of the thin meat. Strangely it came with like 4 house made salt and vinegar potato chips. I honestly liked it so much and wanted more and I got it for dessert... 8.8/10. The calamari was perfectly cooked, not chewy at all, and also came with tentacles (my favorite). There was a yummy aïoli with a tang and some peppers. Just wish there was more... 7.9/10 For our entrees we got two filets, medium rare, one with Gorgonzola sauce and one with no sauce (the sauce comes on the side). We also got two bucatini dishes, one with and one without meat. The filets were perfectly cooked, usually every restaurant either overcooks or undercooks my steak but AV did it right. The Gorgonzola sauce was a rich cheesy sauce. The mashed potatoes were creamy and felt homemade. The carrots were alright, just sliced and cooked same with the green beans. 7.6/10 The bucatini was actually really good! So creamy and delicious, with a little spice. They both came with burrata (love), and the meat one came with a little amount of sausage pieces nothing recognizable. The spice wasn't unenjoyable and was tolerable to someone who can't handle spice. 8.6/10 Time for dessert, we got crème brûlée, the apple cake, and the sweet tart brown sugar lemon dessert. And some beef carpaccio because I wasn't feelin dessert. Crème brûlée, the top was perfectly crystallized. The inside was room temp, not cooled and not warm. 7.6/10 Apple cake, the cake came with a big ice cream scoop on top. Inside there was Apple slices like a pie. The cake was bread like and a good balance of the sweet ice cream and apple innards. 6.8/10 Sweet lemon brown sugar tart, this wasn't a favorite of the table but I didn't mind it. It was a cup like tart, with mouse or a cream in it. 5.7/10. Overall experience was pretty good, nothing bad stood out except for the cold bread and non social waitress interaction. The food was great, atmosphere was wow, and the outside was a beautiful walk to the car. The parking is a fend for yourself and there is a sign on the door to not use the private lot across the street. Overall experience....... 8.1/10 No pictures this time, was really hungry.

Our plans before were running long but luckily their reservation policies were flexible enough that I had no problem moving my time, even on such a busy day. The restaurant was POPPING when we arrived around 4:30. We were seated promptly. The only downside to our experience was that the table was SUPER shaky and wobbly. We asked our waitress for a shim or piece of paper to steady the table but she informed us it was the table head itself, not the legs, so nothing could be done. I was not thrilled about this but assumed that these were tables they hauled out of storage to accommodate the holiday demand, so I can understand. Our server was very warm and friendly despite the chaos. Prices are on the high side but the quality is good and the portions are large. I went for the lobster cobb which was a special and it was LOADED with lobster meat. They really heaped it on. A little light on the avocado, but overall it was really wonderful. My mother went for a seafood scallop risotto which I also tried. It was creamy and flavorful. Our food came out in a reasonable timeframe, and our server was good about getting our check. One thing I really liked was that they put which dishes on the menu are over 500 calories, and most were under. A lovely, healthy dining choice with a nice ambiance. I'd return!
