Mutant brewery is a local casual pubesque bar in the heart of downtown. I've been here pretty often w friends. Tons of events and trivia in their schedule for folks looking for a night out on weekdays or weekends. The interior is mildly psychedelic with music. The food was fine. We got the burger and nachos. I was between giving 3 and 4 stars. Service was slow but the venue was busy, there was an event, and the night crew was picking up when we were there. The buffalo chicken nachos were fine. We appreciated the crispiness of the tortilla chips and the excellent cheese sauce that was well-distributed on the chips. There was tomato among other veggies that I do not remember. The chicken was fine for me on a cut. However, it had the texture of boiled chicken which I wasn't a huge fan of. Still had to get my protein in. I really enjoyed the burger. The bun was a soft potato roll. The patty was a little cooler. Between a cold burger and soggy nachos I certainly would choose the cool burger. This was made up for with the large volume of burger that was deliciously crispy. The pickles accompanied the burger with a secret mayo-based burger sauce. If warm, it could be a 5/5 burger. Overall, the experience was fine. I would go here on a week day rather than 6 on Friday, though. read more

I didn't get anything to drink here, but I did get the deep dish pizza that was more of a Mexican style. I would say that this is probably the best deep dish pizza that I've tried in a while and I used to live in the Midwest. The crust was super crunchy and very buttery, which is great. You could definitely taste a jar of the cheese on the side and the crispiness of the bottom of the crust not only that, but I felt like the toppings were just amount of flavor. There was onions on there. There was corn on there. It just felt very very hearty. it's definitely heavy dish but it hits a spot if you're looking for a deep dish pizza they did it very well. I am here on business. Decided to go to Mutant Brewing for taco Tuesday. All tacos are $3. So I got turkey burnt ends, pork belly burnt ends and chipotle brisket, all Cali style. Turkey was the most disappointing. No flavor. Beers were decent. Got the banana bread one. Definitely good. Also tried the sour raspberry, orange, the tropical punch, and the apple, ginger ale. All the beers were good. It's a wide open place with a bar and long tables. Servers are from the bar. So you might have to order at the bar. We weee a big party so they waited on us. You can park in the garage next door or on the street. Servers were nice but not very engaging, they were busy. Not a bad place. Just not spectacular. Good college bar. read more

Ate there today for the first time. Its a craft brewery, spacious with a stage for live music on weekends. Really lo g bar with a bunch of high tables with stools. We weren't looking to drink, so i can only review the food. The staff was friendly and the food came out in a timely manner. We had the pickle fries for a starter - they were hot, crispy with a tasty and mildly spicy aioli. Then a double smashburger with cheese on a potato roll with a delicious bacon jam, which was great. Also had the Hangover smash, which was also a double patty with cheese, bacon and a fried egg. Egg was nicely cooked with a soft yolk, not dry at all. Another good burger. But the standout was the Turkey Burnt Ends BLTA sandwich. This was a BLT with avocado, and tender, smoked, charred turkey chunks. I haven't had anything like it before, which i appreciated because im always looking for something different. The BLTA also had a spicy aioli on it. My only criticism was the hard roll it was on. It would be better with a softer brioche. But that's minor, it was a great sandwich. All our dishes came with bbq chips. Nice portions. With a shared app and non-alcohol drinks, it came to less than 20 per person total. Will come again read more

Went here on a Sunday night. It wasn't too busy. I stood around for quite some time before a waitress acknowledged me but didn't say anything and walked away. I waited a bit more and still nobody said a single thing. Left after 7 minutes of standing around being ignored. They could benefit from hiring some staff. read more

We live finding new breweries and this one's a keeper! The owners are very nice and friendly. The decor is great with all sorts of bright pictures. I had the brisket flat bread and hubby had the burnt ends tacos. We enjoyed them both. The garage is next door so when parking isn't available on the street it is very convenient. We can be fussy with seats as my husband can't sit on barstools comfortably. We sat in the only small table in the front. Beers were great! Thanks!! read more

Easy parking in the deck two doors down; we were greeted by a bright open brewery with fun artwork. We grabbed a table and ordered at the bar. I had the banana bread beer which was served with a little chunk of banana bread! Also had the pumpkin beer which gets the cinnamon sugar rim treatment. There were so many thinks on the menu I wanted to try, but I went with the turkey burnt end BLT. A couple people ordered wings and they looked good. My mom ordered a lobster roll which had plenty of meat on it for the price. Would definitely go again if we're in the area! read more

When I first started going here the place was incredible. Taco night was A+. The tacos used to come out on a wooden plank or black plates. They were large, fresh, and delicious. My favorite was the steak. It was always properly staffed and service was impeccable. We started to make taco Tuesday at mutant a regular thing. Sadly things seemed to decline week after week. The tacos started to get smaller and they started serving them on paper containers you see at carnivals. They discontinued the steak tacos too. The last time we went might have been our last time. For some reason they only had 1 server on duty running the bar and tables. 1 server for about 50 people! The poor guy still did a great job and somehow kept his cool. Though we had to help him by getting our own waters and paying at the bar. They advertised a new "steak brisket" taco that I wanted to try but was informed that it wasn't finished! It was 7:00PM and the brisket wasn't done? I got chicken instead. The tacos came out again on cheap paper and were not the same tacos we remembered from the earlier visits. The worst part was I bit into 2 weird tooth pick-like stems of something? Wish the chef caught those before they ended up in my taco but hey at least it wasn't an actual toothpick. The consistent high quality of the beer and the cool atmosphere is the only reason I'm still giving this place 3 stars. If I could give 2.5 I would. Let's hope management steps in and puts the place back on track before it's too late. read more

Atmosphere would be way better if children weren't allowed to enter Mutant. We were there today and there were at least 4 under 3 year old kids running around nonstop and screaming. The parents were just as bad and were allowing it. The parents were also loud so you know where they get it from. The bar staff should be able to tell them to stop bc if one of the kids gets hurt you know the parents will blame Mutant. They ran back and forth from the back of Mutant to the front door over and over again. I understand that some parents will say they won't go to a place that doesn't allow kids, but we won't go back to a place that does and we come here often. There was even a couple who went to sit outside bc of these terribly behaved kids. The parents act like this is their house. I bet they tip like sh*t as well after their kids destroyed the place. We did not have a good time due to the nonsense. One of the kids even ran half way down behind the bar. No lie.. the kids screaming and running around lasted the entire time we were there. Great parenting. Drink and drive your kids home. Parents of the year awards. Also, the bathrooms were absolutely disgusting. We love going for beer and pizza, but this time was stressful and we honestly won't be back with kids like that being allowed to stay. read more

Great bar/brewery with nice selection of brews. Good menu with good food. The pretzel sticks were great as was the Detroit style pepperoni and hot honey pizza. Place was busy so service was a little slow, but super friendly and apologetic for the delays. Great overall vibe inside. Outside seating was closed due to the rain. read more
