a woman sitting at a bar

I found this gem on Yelp last summer when we were driving back to Buffalo from Blue Bell, PA. From the map, it appeared to be right off the highway we were on, but in reality - it was far from that. Once I set my phone's GPS to the address, it took us a good 30-40min of driving around country backroads that we thought we were totally lost and would die of hunger on multiple occasions. Luckily, we finally arrived and it did NOT disappoint. They had a Bloody Mary bar where you can customize your own Bloody Mary, and an extensive beer list including Hitachino Nest white ale, a Belgian white style beer from Japan - we were impressed, as we've only found that in one (Japanese) restaurant in Buffalo. I got the trap burger and my husband made some kind of a custom omelette. It's been over a year so I can't remember all the details of my burger though I do remember that it was absolutely delicious and I ate the entire thing. I recall the hubby enjoyed his omelette as well and we left as a happy couple of fatties. Well, I as happier than he was since I could relax and nap but he still had to drive another 5 hours to get us home. The service was OK. It was very much a locals' place and the waitstaff seemed a lot more friendlier with the locals/regulars, which is understandable. I thought the prices were very reasonable considering the quality of the food, and if we are ever in the area again I would definitely plan a stop to grab a bite here.

Came here for a quiet brunch. There wasn't many people inside. Service was friendly, they have a bloody mary bar for brunch. Menu was nice and had a variety of exotic items. I had one of the fritata's that was very good.

I must admit what drew me in was the smoked Gouda Mac and cheese, anytime good cheese is involved I'm interested. Upon entry I was intrigued. Reading over the food menu I was pleased. Once the food arrived...I was AMAZED!!! Double hats off to the Chef for his delightful creations. The food varieties are astounding and quality reigns supreme. I started with the homemade pierogies (sidebar: skipped the Mac and cheese only because there were so many awesome choices!!!). The chef did not disappoint. Rounded my meal with the Ramen and it rivals my favorite ramen restaurant in NYC. TRULY one of a kind! If I could have hugged the Chef I would have. My husband got the Trapp burger, which according to our server Andrew can and WILL rival any burger out there! He did not mislead!!! Did I forget to mention this place is also a pub with an extensive drink/beer menu! Needless to say this spot is bookmarked for all future eats when we are in the area.

When a place is advertised as a gastropub, some fall short with mediocre beer, food and ambiance. this place certainly delivers. Coming in on a Saturday night, you're met with a boisterous crowd, busily eating, drinking and conversing, all with live music in the background. Dress is casual, crowd aged generally from 30-50. Approx 250 bottles of beer on tap, along with about a dozen draft beers, and wide variety of menu items. Food specials and drafts are written on a chalkboard near the bar. Seating for 50 at tables and hightops along the wall, plus another 20 around the square bar, complete with a textured copper top. Meat and cheese tray features numerous local selections. We had the smoked trout (lightly smoked, light and delicious) from Emmaus and the peppercorn pecorino from Italy, both delicious. Food choices vary from small plates of pomme frites and fresh raw oysters, tuna poke bowls, mussels and flatbreads to soups & salads, sandwiches and heavier entrees. We had the Trap Door Burger, with dry-aged grass fed beef, pork belly confit, egg, buttermilk aioli, smoked gouda and red pepper piperade and the Pan Roasted Long Island Duck Breast with scotch duck egg and acorn squash ragout. Both were incredible, probably the best food we had during the 3 days we were in the area. Private parking lot, which can get pretty full when the restaurant is full. There were a few children present when we were there, but this is more of an adult-oriented establishment. Would highly recommend and hopefully return again soon.

My wife and my parents and I all went out to Savory Grill last night. Wow! Such a pleasant evening…read more The owner, Dorothy, greeted us warmly and we were seated promptly. Our Server, Kylie took our drink order- but where she remembered my wife's usual, a key-lime margarita. For my appetizer I ordered Escargot fricassee, Primordia mushrooms, pearl onions, sundried tomatoes... so good. I thoroughly enjoyed the appetizer and Kylie was kind enough to suggest and to bring out an extra slice of homemade bread as I did not want to let the delicious juices of the appetizer go to waste. The house salad is a Spring mix salad with malanga and mung beans With your Choice of Grana emulsion, lemon poppy, toasted cumin coriander dressings. I had the Filet mignon, asparagus, spinach pave potato, local mushrooms and bacon jam as my entrée-- and Shawn, the Chef cooked it to the perfect temperature for me. Delicious--Thanks Shawn!!! My Dad had Pan seared sea scallops & shrimp, fregola sarda, mushroom cream sauce and he loved it. My wife enjoyed the Maine lobster tails, asparagus risotto, root vegetable salad and she was kind enough to share her risotto! My Mom had the Breaded veal medallions, grilled eggplant, mozzarella, sage, romesco sauce. She'll be back. Desserts--So good! Homemade malted strawberry ice cream!!! Although the dining room was filled to capacity- the voices and tones were quiet and we all could enjoy conversation. And... although the place was full Kylie didn't seemed rushed and she was always right there when we had a need. Both of my parents were grateful for the exposure to the Savory Grill as they now have a new place to enjoy- their words! Thank You to Shawn, Dorothy, Kylie and the rest at Savory Grill!

We thought it would be good, but we didn't expect that it would be outstanding. Their dinner menu was fairly small but had an amazing variety of dishes to suit many tastes. It was difficult to choose, but we settled on the veal and the pork rib rack chop. I knew it would be an outstanding meal when the salads that came with all entrees arrived. I usually grudgingly take a couple bites of a provided (typically uninspired) house salad, but this one was comprised of perfectly dressed greens that were the most tender, delicious, and freshest I've ever had in a restaurant, topped with crispy taro strips and a ring of tiny mung beans. If that level of care goes into a humble salad, I figured the mains would be awesome. They were. Both entrees had beautifully cooked proteins accompanied by generous portions of also beautifully cooked vegetables. The pork rib chop was especially impressive, tender and juicy and nicely paired with the apple mostarda, a sophisticated riff on a traditional pork chop with apple sauce. In addition to the vegetable sides noted on the menu descriptions, we each got haricot verts on the side. I typically eat green beans only because they're good for you, but these were so delicious that they were the only item I didn't take for leftovers. The dessert list was impressively long, and we went for their crème brûlée and a Bavarian with chantilly cream and cherries. The crème brûlée was delicate and smooth, with many specks of fresh vanilla bean and topped with incredibly fresh berries. The Bavarian was excellent as well, mousse-like in texture. Our service had the professionalism you would expect in a high end place. I thought it was an especially thoughtful touch that my box of leftovers was delivered at the end of the meal with the check, so it wasn't sitting on the table with us during dessert. The Savory Grille knows small touches make a difference. Of note, we were in the main dining room, which was a little snug, and the volume with a full house was a bit loud (from talking, not music). The other space looks a bit more spacious. No matter, we had an awesome dinner here that left us with fond memories, and I highly recommend the Savory Grille for a special occasion.

Once you enter through the store, there is a sign to wait to be seated. The place has a nice and bright rustic vibe to it. I really liked the decor and table setup. Even the napkins had a rustic vibe. Started off with the potato scoop ($16) which was my fave item. The potato was shaped like the Fritos scoop chip, and the cheese dip that came with it had chunks of cheese in a melted cheese sauce. For my main, got the pulled pork sandwich ($16), which came in a pretzel knot bun and creamy slaw. It was solid meal and very filling. Other mains ordered were the roast beef "pho" style sandwich ($16) which I had a bite of and it was good and not what I expected thinking roast beef. Roast turkey ($16) was warm and also tasty. Each of the mains came with a side of potato salad. I will be back to try the sloppy Joe and their dinner meals. I highly recommend this place if you want tasty, high quality meal for a fair price. * Highly recommend making reservations on weekends * Street parking * Good service

Unfortunately, there was a strong cold draft at floor level, leaving our feet uncomfortably cold throughout the meal. The hostess was sweet and greeted us with a smile. The food service was unremarkable. Our waiter was not particularly friendly nor personable. The drinks were a weak start. The red sangria was poor. The bourbon cocktail was an odd mix of bourbon, apple cider, and other elements--an awkward, Frankenstein-style whiskey sour that simply didn't work. Worst of all, both drinks were served in thin plastic cups, which immediately cheapened the entire experience. I ordered the falafel sandwich and specifically requested a toasted bun. It arrived not just room temperature, but cold. I sent it back, and it returned burning hot... the bottom soggy... literally too hot to pick up... with no browning or color change, clearly microwaved. Microwaving is not toasting. At that point, the sandwich was inedible. I removed the bun entirely and ate just the falafel, which was dry and largely tasteless. At this point I knew coming back to this restaurant was a mistake. Food timing was another issue. The dishes took roughly 45 minutes to arrive after the drinks, possibly longer. We were all getting annoyed and what started out well when we first walked in turned negative. I wasn't impressed on my first visit years ago... and this second visit confirmed it. Between the poor drinks, cheap plastic cups, ridiculously long wait (with no explanation nor apology), and careless food execution, there's no reason to return.
