A friendly local bar with incredible service -- Tory is more than wonderful -- and delicious food. My British husband loved the bangers and mash and I truly enjoyed the creative Dutchtine (brussel sprouts, cheese curds, little pierogis, and blistered tomatoes with a bacon jam sauce ). Everyone knew each other and sang along with the Karaoke. We had such a great time that we went back the next night!

The food here is delicious! Everything that we got was so good. The atmosphere is great and the staff are super friendly. Truly a nice place to go and have dinner.

Balky hotel is a place I've driven by so many times and finally got to eat at. My wife and daughter ate there on leap day and because of a full back dining room we sat in the back room of the bar. We actually preferred the back room. It was not crowded and my daughter and I got to play pool. Our server (I can't remember her name sorry) was a delight to have served us. She was so funny and outgoing. It just added to our relaxing evening. All of our food was fabulous. The best was dessert. I had the Irish Soda Bread Pudding with ice cream with caramel drizzle. Luckily it was the last piece and it was served by none other then - Mom. I think Mom must be the head of the kitchen! We were so happy things worked and we got to experience this gem of Bally. We will be back!

I just noticed how short and dated my review on Yelp! was for this neighborhood gem, and I had written a full review on my BLOG a while back, so I am sharing that review here on Yelp! It is worth noting that my full review does not fit here -- so visit me at http://bruceasarte.blogspot.com for the full review! Appetizers and Soups The Bally Hotel's menu changes from time to time, but no matter what the menus says you can count on the Hotel to have a solid list of quality appetizers. The crab dip is solid -- a little creamy but always well done! The mozzarella sticks are big cheesy sticks of yumminess. The deluxe nachos are everything you'd expect from a big plate of nachos and for a fun variation, try the Irish nachos! Bacon wrapped scallops? Oh yes! Plus, big thumbs up on the calamari! My wife gets the calamari tossed in buffalo sauce -- try it! As far as soups go, I don't know if I've ever had anything other than their French Onion Soup. The FOSoup is that good! I have a crock almost every visit! They have chili listed on the soup menu, I don't consider it a soup. It is good chili, not fantastic but you can't go wrong ordering it. The only thing that I've had from the appetizer menu that I didn't care for was the potato skins. They aren't bad, they just don't make them the way I like them. They scoop out almost all the potato and fill it with toppings, it leaves them almost crunchy. This is a preference thing - some people will love it! Sandwiches and BurgersEvery cheesesteak on the menu is fantastic -- haven't had one I didn't like. I love the Barnyard the best! It is piled on with several different meats and cheeses -- it's enough to satisfy any appetite! Another highlight is the Prime Rib Steak Sandwich - high quality meat on a roll. The sandwich menu is quite extensive and has a number of speciality type options. If you're in the mood for a quick sandwich, pick your favorite and go with it! They come with chips -- so order a plate of waffle fries to go with it for a bigger meal. The one thing I simply cannot recommend at The Bally Hotel are the burgers. I've had more than one and they just aren't good. They taste like they are frozen patties fried up on a griddle and it just doesn't work well. I am surprised that the Hotel doesn't make the fresh, they make everything else with such a high quality of freshness and flavor the burger seems like an easy fit into that niche. They just don't. Entrees The entree menu is quite extensive from chicken to steak to pasta to seafood. There is something for everyone. What I like about the menu is that if you want a simple New York Strip you can get it. If you want a New York Strip topped with Crab Imperial and Bernaise sauce, you can get that too -- and it's delicious! Want surf and turf? Yup -- you can get your Filet Mignon with Shrimp and/or Scallops! They often have Prime Rib and racks of rib on special, too. The chicken menu is one of my favorites in the area. Sure, they have Chicken Parm -- but they also have Gaelic Chicken (my favorite), the Swiss Frenchmen, Chicken of Kings and the Hotel Classic Chicken which is a thigh with the bone removed and stuff with sausage and apples with an apple reduction. The Gaelic is a sautéed chicken breast in a Chardonnay Red Sauce topped with garlic spinach & shredded parmesan cheese. If you like Chicken Cordon Bleu, you will dig the Swiss Frenchmen. Beer Menu The Bally Hotel is, in fact, a bar and restaurant and they have an extensive beer selection. They usually have Stella Artois on tab, which I like. They also have Chimay which is one of my personal favorites and often hard to find. I didn't mention much about cost so far, but all the entrees are priced right. Your chicken dishes will run you between $11-$15, steak runs up near $20 and the appetizer menu sits between $5 and $10. They have a really great kids menu, too! I most certainly haven't covered every aspect of the Hotel here -- but I invite you to go and experience it yourself! Overall: Atmosphere: 5/5 - The bar area is noisy, but its a bar... the dining room is not. But no more Dave Matthews please... Service: 4/5 Food: 4/5 Price: 5/5 Overall: 4.5/5 Pros: Food is very good - love the French Onion Soup, Buffalo Wings, Gaelic Chicken the most - everything priced right! Good kids menu. Cons: Burgers are a no-go! Go Again: We go all the time!

We used to go to Bally hotel quite often but got tired of the menu. New menu is great! A lot of Irish items. I had bangers and boxtys and it was out of this world! Yummy! The draft beer selection was good but wish there were more craft beers. We will be back

    Fantastic reception location.

We thought it would be good, but we didn't expect that it would be outstanding. Their dinner menu was fairly small but had an amazing variety of dishes to suit many tastes. It was difficult to choose, but we settled on the veal and the pork rib rack chop. I knew it would be an outstanding meal when the salads that came with all entrees arrived. I usually grudgingly take a couple bites of a provided (typically uninspired) house salad, but this one was comprised of perfectly dressed greens that were the most tender, delicious, and freshest I've ever had in a restaurant, topped with crispy taro strips and a ring of tiny mung beans. If that level of care goes into a humble salad, I figured the mains would be awesome. They were. Both entrees had beautifully cooked proteins accompanied by generous portions of also beautifully cooked vegetables. The pork rib chop was especially impressive, tender and juicy and nicely paired with the apple mostarda, a sophisticated riff on a traditional pork chop with apple sauce. In addition to the vegetable sides noted on the menu descriptions, we each got haricot verts on the side. I typically eat green beans only because they're good for you, but these were so delicious that they were the only item I didn't take for leftovers. The dessert list was impressively long, and we went for their crème brûlée and a Bavarian with chantilly cream and cherries. The crème brûlée was delicate and smooth, with many specks of fresh vanilla bean and topped with incredibly fresh berries. The Bavarian was excellent as well, mousse-like in texture. Our service had the professionalism you would expect in a high end place. I thought it was an especially thoughtful touch that my box of leftovers was delivered at the end of the meal with the check, so it wasn't sitting on the table with us during dessert. The Savory Grille knows small touches make a difference. Of note, we were in the main dining room, which was a little snug, and the volume with a full house was a bit loud (from talking, not music). The other space looks a bit more spacious. No matter, we had an awesome dinner here that left us with fond memories, and I highly recommend the Savory Grille for a special occasion.

Our Server, Kylie took our drink order- but where she remembered my wife's usual, a key-lime margarita. For my appetizer I ordered Escargot fricassee, Primordia mushrooms, pearl onions, sundried tomatoes... so good. I thoroughly enjoyed the appetizer and Kylie was kind enough to suggest and to bring out an extra slice of homemade bread as I did not want to let the delicious juices of the appetizer go to waste. The house salad is a Spring mix salad with malanga and mung beans With your Choice of Grana emulsion, lemon poppy, toasted cumin coriander dressings. I had the Filet mignon, asparagus, spinach pave potato, local mushrooms and bacon jam as my entrée-- and Shawn, the Chef cooked it to the perfect temperature for me. Delicious--Thanks Shawn!!! My Dad had Pan seared sea scallops & shrimp, fregola sarda, mushroom cream sauce and he loved it. My wife enjoyed the Maine lobster tails, asparagus risotto, root vegetable salad and she was kind enough to share her risotto! My Mom had the Breaded veal medallions, grilled eggplant, mozzarella, sage, romesco sauce. She'll be back. Desserts--So good! Homemade malted strawberry ice cream!!! Although the dining room was filled to capacity- the voices and tones were quiet and we all could enjoy conversation. And... although the place was full Kylie didn't seemed rushed and she was always right there when we had a need. Both of my parents were grateful for the exposure to the Savory Grill as they now have a new place to enjoy- their words! Thank You to Shawn, Dorothy, Kylie and the rest at Savory Grill!

Took advantage of the $25 prime rib Sunday special, which was a great deal for 16oz of prime rib, mashed potatoes, and broccoli rabe. The prime rib was cooked well, but I wish the au just was served on the side as it was on the saltier side. Also shared the steak house salad, which I found to be okay. The filet mignon slices were cooked well done, so were a little tough. I surprisingly enjoyed the watercress and also thought the biscuit croutons were a nice touch to the salad. I tried some of smoked seaboard baby back ribs, which was huge. You got a whole rack of ribs with fries (didn't taste the tijan) and tomato/cucumber salad all for $32. The ribs themselves were okay. Didn't fall off the bone like I wanted/expected likely because they were cooked too fast. Also found the blackberry bourbon BBQ sauce to be more on the sweet side - I'd ask for this on the side next time. I did enjoy the tomato/cucumber salad, which was tangy and slightly sweet.
