A long holiday weekend brought us to this charming colonial era taproom that combined extremely warm service and a delicious lunch menu that featured a chicken BLT and a pasta pesto dish that seemed out of place here but easily overcame my initial reluctance in spades. Time constraints and driving privileges in mind I refrained from any of the local suds but one look around the table and it was clear they hit all the right notes. Next time through I'll make sure I'm a passenger and bring my thirst. Jamison Public House is a really nice find and an easy recipient of five deserving stars. read more

Love the historic site--the front door being operated by a pulley was neat to see right away. The menu had a lot of great looking options and for the most part we were happy with our selections--a special herbed halibut with squash and rice, and the chicken chesapeake topped with lump crab. I would say that the quality of the meals was good but not great; I loved the huge asparagus and the fact that the hearty entrees also came with Caesar salads (a good value), but my chicken in particular was very bland and seemed mostly unseasoned. It was also just a tad overcooked. I would come back to try the desserts, as they do have an onsite pastry chef! read more

Fantastic night at Jamison Publick House. What a neat atmosphere. Very busy for a Tuesday night! Friendly service and delicious food! Paige was such a great server! She suggested the Spicy Margarita which was tasty and not too spicy - We chose the Burrata for appetizer with such great flavors and fresh made bread-swordfish special and the Chesapeake chicken. Fun way to celebrate a birthday! Will be back to try some of their pub fare. read more

Very friendly staff, delicious choices. In a beautiful revolutionary war building. We stumbled upon the location because of yelp and so very happy we did. My son got the burger I got the chicken Oscar both delicious. But I would live on the bacon : cheese dip appetizer and the apple jar cake for dessert. read more

I was working in the area which is pretty far from where I live , so I am glad I got the chance to check this place out for lunch. Cool historical vibe was my immediate impression. I arrived when they were just dying down from lunch and prepping for the dinner rush. I received a warm and friendly welcome from the staff. I sat at the bar, chatted with the bartender about their unique house infused options. He was great ! Definitely a really good selection. For lunch, I got the Baby Kale + Spinach Salad with crumbled feta, balsamic red beets, and red onion. I added blackened chicken to it and their homemade caramelized sweet onion dressing..... I visit often when in this neck of the woods and it is really the location and the ambiance that makes me come back. It reminds me of a British Pub. Old. Venerable. Wood and beams, flat white paint. Outdoors, lots of green wild things growing around you. There is a vibe. I can't say tht the food is all that to rage about. I have had the higher end items, and the basic burger. The food, to be honest is average, but not particularly memorable. What is particularly memorable, are the flies. I counted 5-7 who were attempting escape by the window at our table. My dining companion made herself busy by attempting to kill them while we waited for our drinks. The bar menu is totally worth the visit. Everytime I go, there is a cocktail worth consuming. Perhaps I'll stick to the booze the next time and skip the meal. read more

A quaint historic restaurant- pup style with brick interior and exterior. Fish and Chips meal is light crispy and delicious. We enjoyed the meal with our family. The staff is lovely, very friendly and attentive to our large group of 12. We had a great time enjoying the different plates that covered our table. The desserts are even sweeter. If ever in the area stop by enjoy a delicious meal in the dinning room or stop by their bar and try a cocktail and appetizer. Roasted Cauliflower Risotto are a great choice. read more

Charming historical spot! Friendly service. A interesting menu from a clearly talented chef. They sometimes source beef from the family farm. I really really enjoyed my soy glazed sea bass (and I'm a fish snob). Was very well prepared with the right mix of flavors. I ate every bite and could have probably plowed through a second one (thank goodness I have some self control- ha!) The side salad was fresh. The appetizers were creative (never had cauliflower wings before). And the dessert - ghost stories from our server :). Fun! read more

I ordered the pistachio crusted salmon & it was cooked perfectly, came with roasted brussel sprouts, sweet potato wedges and a salad for only $16. Great price given the quality of the dish. I went here with my mom passing thru and we read their menu online and we're so excited to eat here. We were overall let down by just about everything we had. The cauliflower risotto appetizer was very odd and it was served with something similar to a marinara sauce. My mom got the tacos which she said were okay and I got their chicken sandwich. I did absolutely love the pickled celery on their sandwich and there sweet potato fries were awesome. Service was good and decorations were nice. read more

Good Ambiance, good service, some food items were better than average and some not. My salmon plate was lacking substance and flavor. Denney's senior salmon plate is more filling and flavorful at half the price. Next time I'll skip the fancy dinner and try the burger at half the price. Disappointingly, I'm considering this a bit of a miss. The atmosphere and decor is outstanding and reminds me of the colonial taverns in Williamsburg VA, which is appropriate since the history of the building includes time as a tavern in the mid 1700s. This is total date night place for the ambiance alone. Unfortunately, we felt like the food and the service were a bit of a let down. The shrimp tacos were deemed just "ok" and the lobster pot pie had too much puff pastry on the top with a soggy inner crust and not enough filling. The carrot cake was well done, but getting it cost us another 30 minutes to get it and wait on the bill. Food isn't the only reason for dining out, but it is a primary part of the equation, so when it isn't fantastic, the best environment cannot recover. read more

Nice atmosphere in quaint old inn. Usually enjoy lunch, but this time went to dinner and was disappointed in my meal. I had the Lobster Pie and it was disappointing. For the price, the crock portion was maybe a cup and, as for the lobster, It was hard to find. The crust was the biggest part of the entree and that was had at the edges and soft on the small diameter. Sorry, but would not recommend it. Service was very good. read more

Not kid friendly. Definitely can't bring a picky eater to this place. We usually only go on date nights. But overall food is fine and we like the farmhouse style interior. Dessert is definitely good. Just wish the menu was a little more bigger as I am also not too adventurous and sometimes want something alittle plainer. But the chicken parmigiana is good . And my hubs had the steak which he enjoyed. It is definitely a more upscale dining environment. And you definitely need a reservation for dinner time. Just to be safe. Awesome place. Wonderful colonial decor, like you stepped back in time. The service was spectacular. Our waitress was wonderful and very attentive. Now for the food. My son had the lobster pot pie and I had to Jameson special Burger. Excellent. I know it was just a burger, but it may have been the best that I had ever had. I added the sweet onion marmalade to it and I think that put it over the top! My son had the lobster pot pie and enjoyed it thoroughly. Well done. Now to get the rest of my family there. First time going to Jamison Publick House bc It was recommended by several people!!! We have been wanting to try this place for awhile and it didn't disappoint. From the moment we stepped inside everyone was SUPER FRIENDLY and accommodating from the host to our awesome waitress (Kristin)! We ordered martini's (dirty martini & one of their seasonal Martini's - Eye of Newt) which were made perfectly and tasted delicious. Our appetizer was super crispy lump crab cakes and we ordered the Indian ridge angus ribeye with smoked Gouda mash and broccoli and their special of the night crispy trout with cheddar grit cakes and kale with mango salsa - food and service were amazing!!! Dessert was their special pumpkin caramel pecan pie served with vanilla ice cream and warm chocolate peanut butter Indulgence.... We will definitely be returning! Never ever going back. EVER. Beyond rude service, maybe it was just a bad night for her. I wasn't accommodated for food allergy substitutions. (I can't eat cheese in my salad) I jokingly asked her if she was ignoring me on purpose, or perhaps I said something wrong. She asked my friend if he wanted another drink. A dessert? How is your food? Me? Nothing. That's when I asked what I did to upset her. It was a horrible night and I'm hoping you all have a better evening than I did. So awful, I can't even discuss it. I've never been treated so badly. Ever. Waitress was embarrassing. I know one bad employee doesn't make the whole business. But wow. I still get chills up my spine on this one.
