While out running errands, my husband and I stopped at the Pennsburg Diner for lunch. It's a cute little diner; very clean and welcoming. We were seated right away and our server , Heather, came right up to take our drink order. She's very pleasant and was so present- as if we were her only customers. We were impressed with the menu itself. Lovely colors, pictures and well organized. My husband had the cream of broccoli soup. It was delicious! I had the A1 burger. It was cooked exactly the way I like and so good! The portobello mushrooms on top were a perfect touch. My husband had the cheesesteak wrap- nothing is left on his plate so I think it was really good. There's been a steady flow of customers . I think that speaks volumes since it's 2:30 in the afternoon. We'll stop again should we find ourselves in the area. read more

Our waitress Christine was EXCELLENT and funny! I can not say it loud enough EXCELLENT!!! I had the loaded Pirogies. what a treat and I then got an order to go! YES! That good. I was not happy because they mixed up my order. Instead of fixing it the owner came out and yelled at me and my family because I told the waitress she made the mistake. We've placed this Diner in our weekly lunch rotation because the staff, especially Krista, our very friendly, efficient and helpful waitress (we always request seating in her area because she makes us feel welcome and offers us great service). The menu selection is HUGE and they also have daily chalkboard specials. We especially like their tasty cheesesteaks, their quesadillas, the soups and the huge salads. While a tad pricey, the food is always fresh and delicious. We especially love that it is open on Mondays. We were happy to meet the very friendly and welcoming owner. Nice staff, overall food was not great but not bad either. I looked at salad bar and although it looked fresh, not too big selection, so I didnt get that. I started w soup & salad (included w my meal), soup tastes like it was from a can & salad was saturated w dressing & had hard croutons from store bought bag. Then I had the cheese ravioli & meatballs w mozzarella, there was a little less sauce and more cheese than I like and the meatballs didn't taste homemade, but all was good overall. My husband had broiled combo, said it was good, he never complains. Got piece of cake to go, it is from a bakery in New York I was told, so hoping it's a s tasty as it looks, Boston Cream Pie. I believe they're going by the "New Pennsburg Diner" now. I'm not able to compare to what they used to be but we enjoyed our meal. The portions were generous and the grilled chicken was moist and well seasoned. I also appreciate they let me choose between cole slaw and avocado as I much prefer the latter. We visited the diner this afternoon for the first time in probably a year or better. The owner, Angie, was thrilled to see us and greeted my partner and I with a warm hug. This place was our "hangout" when we first moved to PA in '97, and for many years thereafter. Given that we rarely go out to eat anymore, it was really nice to walk in and be made to feel so welcome- like it's still a home away from home. The food at the Pennsburg Diner has always been good, but today it seemed better than ever. Could be because it had been so long since we'd been there, but I doubt it. My partner ordered a breakfast, including what she says is best sausage she's ever had: two eggs, three huge sausages, home fries, toast and coffee. At the diner, this is a huge meal. They're never stingy on portions here, whether it's breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Being a vegetarian, I ordered a baked potato (excellent), cole slaw (best they've ever had), applesauce, and coffee. I finished almost everything and left feeling as though I'd had a big meal. Prices are comparable to other diners within a 10-20 mile radius, and reasonable given the portion sizes. Certainly a much better idea and much better deal than what one now pays at Subway, as an example, for a couple subpar six-inch sandwiches. The waitstaff are excellent. They're professional and friendly, don't forget about customers even when they're busy, and never mind being asked for extra napkins, condiments, another drink, water, etc. We're lucky to have this diner in the Upper Perkiomen Valley and hope to be able to get there more often again, weather and health permitting. read more

I dropped in here yesterday morning for breakfast. I saw the less than stellar reviews so I had low expectations. I was pleasantly surprised. I sat at the counter and everything within site was spotless. I was quickly given a menu and my first cup of good coffee by a friendly waitress. The menu was huge and I ordered a ham & cheese omelet that came with home fries and wheat toast. It was out in a flash and looked and tasted just fine. The home fries were not too greasy which is a hot button for me. This was solid diner food. My tab including the coffee was five bucks and change. While the food is decent it is beyond over priced. The serving, host and cooking staff are fantastic, I should know I worked with them day in and day out. I'm giving this place 1 star because of the owners. They are in no way compassionate with their employees. In fact, they are the exact opposite. Staff leaves crying and come in on eggshells not knowing if they will be screamed at or not or being threatened with termination for miniscule things. This is a daily and reoccurring thing, sometimes in front of costomers. While I endured this mental and emotional stress for 2 year I am no longer with this "business". And thankfully so. I feel for my fellow coworkers who still live in this hell. They have fired several girls for not conforming to ridiculous and ever changing rules. Eating here is telling them this behavior is acceptable. Ever since management changed, portions have gotten smaller to the point it is very noticeable. In particular certain dishes are 30 percent smaller than before. Went to the diner last night Easter Sunday around 8pm with my husband. I ordered the black diamond steak and it was delicious. I never finish my steak anywhere but this one i ate it down to the last bite. The flavor was on point and the temperature was perfection. It's better than any steak i had at any steakhouse. The service was excellent . We had a young man as our sever ( i forgot his name ). But he was an excellent server. Very friendly and attentive. Compliments both to the server and the cook !!!!! For a diner I can't really complain. When I got here it smelt like baking brownies as soon as I opened the truck door. The place was rather packed but we were meeting family who had already arrived. We sat in the back room in a corner which was fine by me. I like to people watch. Our service was good. Can't find anything to complain about there. The food was also pretty decent. I ordered a fiesta omelet. I wish there were more bell pepper and onion. Also the salsa was obviously from a jar and it was sweet. It was a bit confusing. The potatoes were delicious. Pros: Delicious Homemade Veggie soup was delish. The Haddock sandwich was really good as per my husband. Cons: Broiled Seafood Combo was disappointing. The haddock and flounder were good. I managed to take a few bites of that and the crab cake. The crab cake was very heavy on the Chesapeake Bay seasoning that took away what I'm sure would have been a really good cake. The dinner killer was the scallops were raw inside. They were white on the outside but pink opaque inside. It totally threw my appetite and I spit out the one scallop I did start eating. The waitress was really sweet when she came over to check on us. She asked how everything was and I told her about the semi raw scallops. She said she'd be right back and came back a few minutes later and said management would re-cook the scallops. I couldn't eat anymore as it really made my stomach turn. The waitress was understanding and I made sure when we left she got her 20% tip as it wasn't her fault. I was NOT looking for a free meal NOR was I offered one which is fine. While I understand that my husband and I are only 2 customers, the $17.99 seafood dish will, in the long run, be a very expensive dish as we won't be coming back again. read more

Having lived in the area for a while now I've eaten breakfast, lunch and dinner here on a number of occasions. It's your basic small town diner; the interior is dated but welcoming, the service is usually friendly, the menu is large and the food is decent. It's the only old school style diner\family restaurant in the area so that gives it extra points for nostalgic value. As for the food, it's ok but really nothing special. As another reviewer mentioned the best thing here is the fruit topped waffles and pancakes at breakfast which are quite awesome. Aside from that, breakfast, lunch and dinner are all ok but not worth raving about in my opinion. There's definitely better to be had at a couple of other small restaurants in the area that serve homestyle food (Woodside Restaurant and The Strawberry House come to mind). Bottom line is this is a reliable stop to get your hunger fix. read more

The ambiance is that of an old fashioned diner with regulars sittin' and yakin' up a storm about who's in the hospital, who had a baby, who got arrested, well, you know what I mean. We always go in there for a straight forward easy breakfast - eggs, home fries and toast. Never happens. Their specials are indeed just that. Last week they had a "fruit covered waffle". Now, I usually don't go for that sort of stuff cuz it's just way too much. But I thought, what the hay, I'll give it a shot. I need more fruit in my diet anyway. Jeepers! They brought out the most magnificent waffle I had ever seen. The round waffle was thick, hot and fluffy. No 'from the package" batter here, my friends. Piled high were blueberries, strawberries, bananas, orange sections, pineapple and coconut. It was so huge that I never even put syrup on it. I just started digging my way through. The waffle was so crisp, yet so tender. The fruit was fresh and clean. No problems. No ifs ands or buts about it, this is that place you've got to pull into when driving by. They won't disappoint. I loved the idea of having a diner so close to home but the food was just never good anytime we went. It just always seemed like shortcuts were taken everywhere no matter if it was, breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Once there was water leaking from the ceiling onto our table. It's a shame because the folks that seem to run the place always seemed so nice. I would always see them go out of their way to talk to their regulars and see how they are doing. This is the only reason for the extra star. My husband and I eat here at least once a week, there is NOTHING on their menu that is boxed, everything is HOMEMADE from the croquettes to the burgers and everything in between. You tell me anywhere that does that anymore. I would like to clarify some info others have provided, i'm just a customer but i feel this place deserves due credit. For an entree with 2 sides and soup you'll pay around 10 bucks, the portions are always good size (always fill my husband who has a hollow leg :). The menu is very diverse, no shortage of choices, if you arrive later at night there is a late night menu which still offers plenty of selection. I have literally eaten everything on their large menu and out of hundreds of dishes, I have never had anything bland or that was bad. I realize of course this is my opinion but I'm very picky when it comes to food, it's really that good. The service is always stellar, your promptly greeted and seated, if you arrive when they are slammed, yes it will take slightly longer but still within a reasonable timeframe. The staff are all incredibly friendly and attentive, if they are less then that they are new and a repeat experience unlikely. The owners are always there very involved in day to day operations. This is one of the cleanest restaurants I've ever seen, .what little I've been able to see of the kitchen, it's immaculate, as are the restrooms and overall restaurant. I've eaten at every diner in the area, this one stands out in all aspects but most importantly the homemade food which i have not had at any other. My husband and I came in for dinner last night with friends. We're new to the area and thought we would try the diner. We won't be back. Our plates arrived looking rather sloppy but it happens. The food itself was only average diner fare but at least portions were nice sized. The servers were more interested in loudly gossiping to each other and checking their phones than paying any attention to us. It wasn't busy when we came in and our experience was very disappointing. SUPER disappointed in all of our food. We ordered because a lot of people said it was really good. My "stuffed" French toast had a tiny smear of cream on one piece of the French toast (which was bland and dry) and then piled with strawberry compote, the home fries tasted like they just threw some potatoes in the pan, no seasoning/flavor etc, the Texas burger also had zero flavor and the ground beef on the nachos was barely broken up and some of the meat was still raw.
