    Salad bar plate
    Kimberly D.

Nice staff, overall food was not great but not bad either. I looked at salad bar and although it looked fresh, not too big selection, so I didnt get that. I started w soup & salad (included w my meal), soup tastes like it was from a can & salad was saturated w dressing & had hard croutons from store bought bag. Then I had the cheese ravioli & meatballs w mozzarella, there was a little less sauce and more cheese than I like and the meatballs didn't taste homemade, but all was good overall. My husband had broiled combo, said it was good, he never complains. Got piece of cake to go, it is from a bakery in New York I was told, so hoping it's a s tasty as it looks, Boston Cream Pie. If more things were home made, I would've given 4 stars (ex. croutons and meatballs are easy to make and can really elevate the food).

Always great services and tasty food. A nice local small business to patronize! I take my mother here at least 2 times a week.

Small town diner, food good, servers friendly, will go back again. Wish there were a few lower priced items , in the $8-9 range.

This diner food has consistently been bad! My daughter & I hesitated, but gave it another try. Sad to say, we will not be returning!

The Valley Café - Chicken Fried Steak

Beautiful weekend in southeastern Pennsylvania, and perfect for a drive in the country over hill…read moreand dale. We first headed west on the PA Turnpike, and then north on Rt. 476, the Northeast Extension to Route 63. Then through Harleysville, Green Springs and finally, Pennsburg; to our destination, The Valley Cafe. About 60 miles door to door. The rolling hills, farms and forests were peacefully resting in the comfortable heat of the day. Plenty of 19th Century farmsteads and even older stone houses that held the secret lives of so many generations. It was idyllic; almost a fully sensate daydream. The Cafe was nearly full when we arrive around 12:30. We were led to a table in the larger dining room and handed menus and Specials sheet. We ordered coffee with milk to start. Surprisingly, that translated into two separate requests here - coffee and milk. We only wanted milk to lighten the coffee, and explained that to the server who seemed confused that we hadn't asked for "creamers." Straightened out, he took one glass back and left us with the other to share. Breakfast consisted of Chicken Fried Steak & Eggs for me, and Southwest Scramble for the son. Mine was very good - with real beef, breadcrumbs the size of my hand nicely pan fried, and two over easy eggs on top, slowly oozing their golden yolks into the crisp breaded meat beneath. The home fries and rye toast were good accoutrements, but lost in the richness of the main components. My son was disappointed in his plate. Although there was plenty of egg, cheese, onion, green pepper and potato scrambled for consumption, there was really nothing "southwestern" about it. No jalapeños. No red chilies. No chili powder. Just a tiny plastic cup of salsa; inadequate to provide spiciness. He ate what he could, but left an unusual amount untouched. I gave him a chunk of my CFS to compensate which he liked. Service was fine for a busy Sunday. The place is extremely popular with lots of turnover and families/groups of friends socializing over breakfast, brunch and lunch. No doubt, well deserved. Our score with one success and one fail was what it was. We loved the trip, but would not make The Valley Cafe our destination again. 3.5 STARS

When I start to dig into the fried steak it was good but afterward about 30 mins when we left, I felt a little sick and threw up 10 mins after of done eating. Would not recommend eating the chicken fried steak and I do not know if I got sick because of it or not? Would not recommend getting the steak. Overall the place is nice to get a quick breakfast.

This historic location was a rest and play stop for literary and theater New Yorkers in the 20s and 30s and probably beyond -- check out the famous signatures and notes in the albums in the main living room. The owners keep a handful of rescued farm animals (pot-bellied pigs, mini ponies, goats), and it is clear they are well cared for. It is a busy place for big wedding events now, and so we like to stay during the week. It is very relaxing to walk around the grounds. We saw a giant heron in the pond and deer strolling. There are so many nice places to sit outside with a bottle of wine and a book or snacks. Rooms are very unique and comfortable. You have a lot of different personalities to choose from: lofts, cabins, barn spaces, etc. Many have jacuzzis which can provide your evening entertainment, lol. We have not eaten in the restaurant because our top restaurant on earth is very close by, but when it was closed, Josh gave us great recommendations. And he made a lovely tofu scramble for breakfast as a special request. One sweet touch: despite checking the room, we left without my spouse's expensive phone charger. Housekeeping found it and ran after us before we could drive off without it. She did not have to do that. Always tip your housekeeping staff. The extended Covid months have been very hard on inns, restaurants, and event spaces, and it must be stressful for them as things come back to life when so many events have been postponed. It is wonderful to be back out again. We will return -- a lot.

The Barley Sheaf is very serious about pandemic precautions, so masks are in full effect, and they'll walk you to your socially-distanced table in a beautiful, outdoor gardening setting. The inn itself is an architectural delight, as well, so you are surrounded by beauty on all sides. Service was pleasant and forthcoming. I wouldn't say that this is the finest level of dining, of course, you're not expecting EMP in the middle of Bucks County, but this is a good attempt, and people are pleasant and quite dignified. The guests were all well attired and the crowd is polite and kind. Food is of the adventurous character, which I enjoy. A lot of different flavor combinations (they like to do salé and sucré), beautiful plating, interesting textures, and good cooking techniques. My favorites were the octopus appetizer (so buttery soft and tender, which is a rarity) and the pheasant special, which was a pleasant and apropos surprise in this outdoor, country setting. Finally, this is a BYOB restaurant with perfectly selected wine glasses, fine silverware, and other special touches such as a freshly starched linens, etc. which elevate the dining experience.

We chose Kathy's…read morespecifically for its location (halfway in between our house and a friend's), and that, other than the fact that they serve breakfast, was the only criterion. But what we got was breakfast awesomeness. It's small, with a cozy, "country" feel, as you might expect. Cute. Coffee was strong and plentiful, served in those great diner-style mugs that keep things piping hot for a good long time. Servers were totally on top of their game (the place was jumpin' so they really had to be) and all had that combination of "I'm super nice and glad you're here, but don't you dare slow me down" goodness. And the food? The food was fantastic! Each of the five people in our group got something different, and everyone was super happy with what they got, from cinnamon-raisin French toast with apple butter to a garden vegetable skillet to corned beef hash eggs Benedict. I went simple with a breakfast sandwich with a fluffy scrambled egg, thick-cut pork roll, and Cooper sharp on the lightest, airiest Kaiser roll I've ever had. And do no sleep on their thick cut bacon, which is meaty and delicious and coated in a buttery mapley goodness that tasted like Heaven. Things to note: they only take cash, and on the weekends, there's an hour limit (meaning you can't dawdle) so they don't have lines piling up outside. Breakfast for five of us was just under $80, so reasonably priced. We had a great time. And the next time we go, it'll be because it's just a great spot.

They will never see me again.... I just left there after having their triple play special, which is .....not very special. I sat 5-booths from the entrance. The employees and their VERY loudmouth female owner... We're all sitting in the 1st booth. The owner was so LOUD!!!!! We couldn't even have a conversation at the table. I said something to my waitress who told me that she she's Latin and loud. I'm Italian.... We invented loud. But we know "common courtesy" and basic manners in a restaurant. This owner has NONE!!!!! I couldn't WAIT to finish my breakfast and head out the door. On my way out, I heard the people behind me complaining that they have not been acknowledged at their booth. Completely ignored customers...... It was employee social hour and; Customers were intruding. I did complain to my waitress, who said that's how it rolls there and that I "would need to move to the back". Move to the back? Well, needless to say ... her commentary and lack of social awareness was reflected in her tip. ZERO!!!!! Watch out Compton's... You are not the only game in town anymore. There are plenty of places to go for breakfast and I would suggest whoever is reading this .... Go anywhere BUT Comptons!!!
