While really more a cafe than a diner (small footprint, no counter/stools, only 7 booths), this Mexican owned/operated kitchen has an interesting menu representing classic morning meals from both nations. I went with their Country Omelet, but seriously considered a plate of Huevos Rancheros in appreciation of the dual cultures presented. I was happy with my choice, as the three egg case was stuffed with home fries, onion, pepper and feta cheese. A belly buster to be sure. Plenty of decent Java, refilled without asking was also a nice touch. Friendly service from "Hi" to "Bye." The rye toast would have benefited from more authenticity, but all things considered, it was a small nit. Parking on the street was a challenge given the meters and frozen snow/slush making the walk to the curb a real ankle twister. 4 Estrellas!

When I entered the mom and pop shop i found the place to have that greasy feeling, got 2 nesquicks & 2 Snapple's. Me and my gf both ordered pork roll egg and cheese and comes with a side of hash brown. The total came to 27$ and change I thought to myself that it was a little over priced, and when I got into the car and opened the container I felt ripped off. I'm from jersey. Home of pork roll. The places I go to which are many have fat ass bagels with 4-5 pieces of pork roll and a drink for 2 for about 20$. I get they gotta make money but that was way too small of bagels to be worth 27$, customer service was great and the food I give a 2.5 / 5 , bagel has no taste and way too small and the egg was the only thing I tasted.

'Country Kitchens' are never in the middle... They're either very good, or very bad. I'm happy to…read moresay that THIS country kitchen is outstanding. I was in Quakerstown to scout out the route the Big Boy steam engine will be taking from Philadelphia westward to Wyoming, and I asked Yelp for dinner recommendations. I decided to give Kathy's a try and was very glad I did. The place is small, with a small dining room with it's own entrance next to the storefront that sells the sweets (ice cream and milkshakes). The food was very good - I had a chili that was not bland nor too spicy, and had my first apple dumpling in over 30 years - it was outstanding - the pastry crust was just sweet enough. I'll definitely be back again.

Terrific across the board! It's funny how you end up at places sometimes. We chose Kathy's…read morespecifically for its location (halfway in between our house and a friend's), and that, other than the fact that they serve breakfast, was the only criterion. But what we got was breakfast awesomeness. It's small, with a cozy, "country" feel, as you might expect. Cute. Coffee was strong and plentiful, served in those great diner-style mugs that keep things piping hot for a good long time. Servers were totally on top of their game (the place was jumpin' so they really had to be) and all had that combination of "I'm super nice and glad you're here, but don't you dare slow me down" goodness. And the food? The food was fantastic! Each of the five people in our group got something different, and everyone was super happy with what they got, from cinnamon-raisin French toast with apple butter to a garden vegetable skillet to corned beef hash eggs Benedict. I went simple with a breakfast sandwich with a fluffy scrambled egg, thick-cut pork roll, and Cooper sharp on the lightest, airiest Kaiser roll I've ever had. And do no sleep on their thick cut bacon, which is meaty and delicious and coated in a buttery mapley goodness that tasted like Heaven. Things to note: they only take cash, and on the weekends, there's an hour limit (meaning you can't dawdle) so they don't have lines piling up outside. Breakfast for five of us was just under $80, so reasonably priced. We had a great time. And the next time we go, it'll be because it's just a great spot.

This historic location was a rest and play stop for literary and theater New Yorkers in the 20s and 30s and probably beyond -- check out the famous signatures and notes in the albums in the main living room. The owners keep a handful of rescued farm animals (pot-bellied pigs, mini ponies, goats), and it is clear they are well cared for. It is a busy place for big wedding events now, and so we like to stay during the week. It is very relaxing to walk around the grounds. We saw a giant heron in the pond and deer strolling. There are so many nice places to sit outside with a bottle of wine and a book or snacks. Rooms are very unique and comfortable. You have a lot of different personalities to choose from: lofts, cabins, barn spaces, etc. Many have jacuzzis which can provide your evening entertainment, lol. We have not eaten in the restaurant because our top restaurant on earth is very close by, but when it was closed, Josh gave us great recommendations. And he made a lovely tofu scramble for breakfast as a special request. One sweet touch: despite checking the room, we left without my spouse's expensive phone charger. Housekeeping found it and ran after us before we could drive off without it. She did not have to do that. Always tip your housekeeping staff. The extended Covid months have been very hard on inns, restaurants, and event spaces, and it must be stressful for them as things come back to life when so many events have been postponed. It is wonderful to be back out again. We will return -- a lot.

The Barley Sheaf is very serious about pandemic precautions, so masks are in full effect, and they'll walk you to your socially-distanced table in a beautiful, outdoor gardening setting. The inn itself is an architectural delight, as well, so you are surrounded by beauty on all sides. Service was pleasant and forthcoming. I wouldn't say that this is the finest level of dining, of course, you're not expecting EMP in the middle of Bucks County, but this is a good attempt, and people are pleasant and quite dignified. The guests were all well attired and the crowd is polite and kind. Food is of the adventurous character, which I enjoy. A lot of different flavor combinations (they like to do salé and sucré), beautiful plating, interesting textures, and good cooking techniques. My favorites were the octopus appetizer (so buttery soft and tender, which is a rarity) and the pheasant special, which was a pleasant and apropos surprise in this outdoor, country setting. Finally, this is a BYOB restaurant with perfectly selected wine glasses, fine silverware, and other special touches such as a freshly starched linens, etc. which elevate the dining experience.

Windows all around make for a pleasant room to sip and chat. Additionally, the floor space is taken up with cute household goods and accessories for purchase, from honey and jam to mugs and glitchy signs. Their pastry display is mostly locally sourced or made in-house. Very attractive in a down home way. I ordered the Breakfast Hash and large Java. The La Colombe was great and the meal was served in an aluminum foil lined plastic to-go box. It was composed of diced sweet potato, onion, green pepper and plenty of chopped sausage, with rye toast wrapped in foil. It was delicious with mix of savory and sweeter flavors and two over easy eggs on top slowly leaking into the mound of veggies beneath and adding their smoothness and subtle taste to everything. I sat at the shelf in the front of the store eating and watching kids with Easter baskets searching for painted eggs. It was obvious that Perkasie puts effort into being a family town. They put a smile on my face and made my drive up county even more worthwhile.

Perfect medium, excellent sear, very good sourcing of product, and not drenched in butter like the posers do- I was a happy carnivore. The truffle fries were excellent, and the broccolini was perfectly al dente and seasoned. Emily, my server, was phenomenal. She was never up in my grill, but always there when I needed her. Other mains ordered were the roast beef "pho" style sandwich ($16) which I had a bite of and it was good and not what I expected thinking roast beef. Roast turkey ($16) was warm and also tasty. The service was quick, and there is both indoor and outdoor seating, which is a nice option. However, the order wasn't checked before it was brought out, so it arrived incomplete. The home fries were bland and came with raw peppers, which I wasn't expecting- should have been sautéed so the texture matched the potatoes. The French dip was unfortunately overcooked and dry, with a ton of onions that weren't mentioned on the menu (HUGE ISSUE bc he's allergic to onions!) We also requested horseradish sauce on the side, but it never came out. The cranberry-orange turkey salad was tasty, but the portion was on the small side. I substituted the turkey for the Southern crispy chicken, which came with an additional charge, and honestly, it wasn't worth the upcharge. Overall, there were some good elements, especially the fresh orange juice and salad, but several details could have been better. Quick service and a nice seating setup, but the food and attention to the order left something to be desired.
