Last year we sat at the bar on a whim and the bartender, who was here tonight was fabulous! We had a great meal. Tonight we sat near the bar with reservations. The ambiance is beautiful, the service is warm and excellent. We had amazing drinks, the spicy hibiscus margaritas and the "not so old fashioned" were both top of the notch. Was offered the special soup, roasted red pepper, cauliflowers soup was ....perfect. The brussel sprout appetizer was stellar. I had the special Mahi Mahi with watermelon "salsa", tajin rice and green beans. Each bite was incredibly delicious, perfectly cooked and seasoned. My husband had the 14 oz strip steak with broccoli and smashed fingerling potatoes. We had no room for dessert but the ice cream was calling for me.. next time.

I decided I'm no longer gonna stop here on my way home after I paid almost $14 for a few tiny fried cauliflower balls. It's rare for me to leave a restaurant hungry and that's happened a couple times after having been at Jamison's. New York prices. French portions. They charge 20 to 30% more than anybody else and they're out deep in the woods with nothing spectacular but everything good. Perhaps because they're the only show in town they can get away with this, but I'll drive further next time.

When we arrived and saw that they were in a shopping mall, we were thinking about looking for somewhere else.... Boy I'm SO GLAD that we didn't! We arrived around 12:30 and they were packed - we were able to get a table outside (bar and inside dining area were too noisy for us)! Our server, Ariana O. was great! My wife enjoyed her Flamingo Fandango drink ($ 14.50) with the Torta Ahogada ($18.95) - both were delicious but the sandwich was very messy - better eaten with a knife and fork - and absolutely delicious as were their French fries that she had! I ordered the Beef "Cubano" sandwich ($ 17.95) with a side of golden beets ($ 2.00 up charge) glazed with the same horseradish sauce that was on the sandwich (Ariana's recommendation). Both were wonderful and we shared tastes of each other's items! It was worth the drive up and the impending drive back!!! We also shared a Dark Chocolate Custard pie that featured an Oreo type of crust with whipped cream and shaved dark chocolate as a topping - it tasted wonderful but I felt a little on the small size for the $ 12.95 price! All things considered, I would make the drive again to go back to experience the other items on the menu but as was suggested, I would definitely make a reservation for lunch and definitely would for dinner! FYI: their menu is seasonal so you want to view it online before you go!

I was initially on the fence about it since its in a shopping mall surrounded by chain restaurants and a wax salon, but I figured if it looked bad inside there was a Smashburger nearby. How wrong I was! The inside is absolutely stunning, what a beautiful space. It took a while to be seated since it was a holiday weekend but when we did we had a beautiful view of an indoor sunroom. We got the potato pierogi to start, which was fantastic, and my dish was the tofu scramble (with fruit as a side). The scramble had a surprising sweetness that was not unpleasant and was quite a large portion. Our server was great but he had a very strong and vibrant personality - which I did not care for when I first sat down and was tired and hangry, but he was great and won me over at the end, haha. Anyway, try this place, its amazing and next time I am in Allentown I will be back for sure.

They're paired with savory, thick-cut Irish bacon and a generous portion of house-made potato rounds, seasoned well with a great crisp on the outside while staying soft inside.  The bread selection really sets this meal apart. You get perfectly toasted sourdough with house-made apple butter on the side, plus a slice of grilled banana nut bread. The banana bread has a light dusting of powdered sugar and is served warm with a generous dollop of whipped cinnamon butter that melts right in.  To top it off, the iced pumpkin spice latte served in a glass jar is beautifully spiced and creamy without being overly sweet--a perfect pairing for a rich morning meal.

The sweet bread board was delicious and a great way to try the variety of bread. Would highly recommend the banana nut bread if you're looking to do just one of them. This historic location was a rest and play stop for literary and theater New Yorkers in the 20s and 30s and probably beyond -- check out the famous signatures and notes in the albums in the main living room. The owners keep a handful of rescued farm animals (pot-bellied pigs, mini ponies, goats), and it is clear they are well cared for. It is a busy place for big wedding events now, and so we like to stay during the week. It is very relaxing to walk around the grounds. We saw a giant heron in the pond and deer strolling. There are so many nice places to sit outside with a bottle of wine and a book or snacks. Rooms are very unique and comfortable. You have a lot of different personalities to choose from: lofts, cabins, barn spaces, etc. Many have jacuzzis which can provide your evening entertainment, lol. We have not eaten in the restaurant because our top restaurant on earth is very close by, but when it was closed, Josh gave us great recommendations. And he made a lovely tofu scramble for breakfast as a special request. One sweet touch: despite checking the room, we left without my spouse's expensive phone charger. Housekeeping found it and ran after us before we could drive off without it. She did not have to do that. Always tip your housekeeping staff. The extended Covid months have been very hard on inns, restaurants, and event spaces, and it must be stressful for them as things come back to life when so many events have been postponed. It is wonderful to be back out again. We will return -- a lot.

The Barley Sheaf is very serious about pandemic precautions, so masks are in full effect, and they'll walk you to your socially-distanced table in a beautiful, outdoor gardening setting. The inn itself is an architectural delight, as well, so you are surrounded by beauty on all sides. Service was pleasant and forthcoming. I wouldn't say that this is the finest level of dining, of course, you're not expecting EMP in the middle of Bucks County, but this is a good attempt, and people are pleasant and quite dignified. The guests were all well attired and the crowd is polite and kind. Food is of the adventurous character, which I enjoy. A lot of different flavor combinations (they like to do salé and sucré), beautiful plating, interesting textures, and good cooking techniques. My favorites were the octopus appetizer (so buttery soft and tender, which is a rarity) and the pheasant special, which was a pleasant and apropos surprise in this outdoor, country setting. Finally, this is a BYOB restaurant with perfectly selected wine glasses, fine silverware, and other special touches such as a freshly starched linens, etc. which elevate the dining experience.

They will never see me again.... I just left there after having their triple play special, which is .....not very special. I sat 5-booths from the entrance. The employees and their VERY loudmouth female owner... We're all sitting in the 1st booth. The owner was so LOUD!!!!! We couldn't even have a conversation at the table. I said something to my waitress who told me that she she's Latin and loud. I'm Italian.... We invented loud. But we know "common courtesy" and basic manners in a restaurant. This owner has NONE!!!!! I couldn't WAIT to finish my breakfast and head out the door. On my way out, I heard the people behind me complaining that they have not been acknowledged at their booth. Completely ignored customers...... It was employee social hour and; Customers were intruding. I did complain to my waitress, who said that's how it rolls there and that I "would need to move to the back". Move to the back? Well, needless to say ... her commentary and lack of social awareness was reflected in her tip. ZERO!!!!! Watch out Compton's... You are not the only game in town anymore. There are plenty of places to go for breakfast and I would suggest whoever is reading this .... Go anywhere BUT Comptons!!!

Perfect medium, excellent sear, very good sourcing of product, and not drenched in butter like the posers do- I was a happy carnivore. The truffle fries were excellent, and the broccolini was perfectly al dente and seasoned. Emily, my server, was phenomenal. She was never up in my grill, but always there when I needed her.
