My wife and my parents and I all went out to Savory Grill last night. Wow! Such a pleasant evening. The owner, Dorothy, greeted us warmly and we were seated promptly. Our Server, Kylie took our drink order- but where she remembered my wife's usual, a key-lime margarita. For my appetizer I ordered Escargot fricassee, Primordia mushrooms, pearl onions, sundried tomatoes... so good. I thoroughly enjoyed the appetizer and Kylie was kind enough to suggest and to bring out an extra slice of homemade bread as I did not want to let the delicious juices of the appetizer go to waste. The house salad is a Spring mix salad with malanga and mung beans With your Choice of Grana emulsion, lemon poppy, toasted cumin coriander dressings. I had the Filet mignon, asparagus, spinach pave potato, local mushrooms and bacon jam as my entrée-- and Shawn, the Chef cooked it to the perfect temperature for me. Delicious--Thanks Shawn!!! My Dad had Pan seared sea scallops & shrimp, fregola sarda, mushroom cream sauce and he loved it. My wife enjoyed the Maine lobster tails, asparagus risotto, root vegetable salad and she was kind enough to share her risotto! My Mom had the Breaded veal medallions, grilled eggplant, mozzarella, sage, romesco sauce. She'll be back. Desserts--So good! Homemade malted strawberry ice cream!!! Although the dining room was filled to capacity- the voices and tones were quiet and we all could enjoy conversation. And... although the place was full Kylie didn't seemed rushed and she was always right there when we had a need. From the very professional service to the pristine ingredients to the perfectly executed dishes, we were extremely impressed by the Savory Grille. We thought it would be good, but we didn't expect that it would be outstanding. Their dinner menu was fairly small but had an amazing variety of dishes to suit many tastes. It was difficult to choose, but we settled on the veal and the pork rib rack chop. I knew it would be an outstanding meal when the salads that came with all entrees arrived. I usually grudgingly take a couple bites of a provided (typically uninspired) house salad, but this one was comprised of perfectly dressed greens that were the most tender, delicious, and freshest I've ever had in a restaurant, topped with crispy taro strips and a ring of tiny mung beans. If that level of care goes into a humble salad, I figured the mains would be awesome. They were. Both entrees had beautifully cooked proteins accompanied by generous portions of also beautifully cooked vegetables. The pork rib chop was especially impressive, tender and juicy and nicely paired with the apple mostarda, a sophisticated riff on a traditional pork chop with apple sauce. In addition to the vegetable sides noted on the menu descriptions, we each got haricot verts on the side. I typically eat green beans only because they're good for you, but these were so delicious that they were the only item I didn't take for leftovers. The dessert list was impressively long, and we went for their crème brûlée and a Bavarian with chantilly cream and cherries. The crème brûlée was delicate and smooth, with many specks of fresh vanilla bean and topped with incredibly fresh berries. The Bavarian was excellent as well, mousse-like in texture. Our service had the professionalism you would expect in a high end place. I thought it was an especially thoughtful touch that my box of leftovers was delivered at the end of the meal with the check, so it wasn't sitting on the table with us during dessert. The Savory Grille knows small touches make a difference. Of note, we were in the main dining room, which was a little snug, and the volume with a full house was a bit loud (from talking, not music). The other space looks a bit more spacious. No matter, we had an awesome dinner here that left us with fond memories, and I highly recommend the Savory Grille for a special occasion. read more

We have always enjoyed Savory Grille and since the Covid era have been getting Savory at Home (carryout) meals occasionally as well as dining in. The May 22 at Home meal was outstanding! It featured shrimp and smoked salmon with pasta and vegetables in a basil béchamel sauce. The seafood was delicious with the salmon smoked to perfection, pasta cooked al dente, and sun-dried tomatoes adding their special flavor. The cream of asparagus soup was flavorful and unique. The dessert of Bosc pears and strawberries in orange mousse was a perfect closing to the superb meal. read more

We arrived on time and were seated immediately for our early reservation on a Thursday night. Sat in the main dining room. James, our server, was fantastic. Started off with seasonal cocktails and complimentary amuse bouche with bread. We ordered apps of fois gras with dried blueberries and charred octopus. The salad was complimentary with a choice of 4 dressings. I opted for the scallops with a pillow pasta. Pasta overwhelmed the dish and the sauce was too brothy, scallops were the best and took half of my dish home. Hubs had the veal, which he loved. Creme brûlée was warm and seemed to be just cooked and served in a strange flat soup bowl, not my favorite but hubs loved it. Nice ambiance and very good service, although the plates could've been cleared sooner. We will be back to try the arbor room dining area addition next time. read more

It's one of the best restaurants I've eaten at in years! My colleague and I were visiting Macungie, PA, for work. We were staying at the Bear Creek Resort and looked up some of the highly rated restaurants in the area. Savory Grille was one of the first restaurants to pop up! When we pulled into the restaurant, we noticed how secluded the restaurant was located in the small town. There are two different seating areas inside Savory Grille. There is the right side, which was about 10 tables, and on the arbor side, which has even more limited seating! It was so nice, though. The ambiance was relaxing, and it felt very cozy inside! We didn't have a reservation, but the team at Savory Grille accommodated our party of two at around 7:30 P.M. on a Wednesday evening. We were seated in the Arbor view area next to a window. The team member assisting us was amazing!!! It was the best customer service that I've had in a long time at a restaurant! He immediately brought over waters and asked if we wanted anything to drink! After he provided us with water, there was a complimentary dish, pickiled vegetables, and a side of bread with water. It was so good! The bread was fresh and warm! The menu is limited. You can choose from a few appetizers, salad, and an entrée. Their entrees include a wide range of meats or fish, such as sea scallops, lamb, veal, pork rib, chicken break, and filet mignon. All entrees are provided a side salad! The chef has been cooking for over 26 years! For an appetizer to split, we selected the following Ricotta Gnudi, Roasted Cauliflower, Peas, Pesto Cream. Entrees: Petite Filet Mignon, Trumpet Mushrooms, Potato Croquette, Pearl Onions. After approximately 20 minutes, the Ricotta Gnudi arrived at the table. The team member provided us with new plates for the appetizer and utensils! I absolutely loved this dish! The Ricotta Gnudi was soooo yummy! The Pesto cream was just so flavorful! The Cauliflower was perfectly cooked! The Peas were fresh. When you had a bite of the peas, it had that nice crunch where it wasn't too soft! Once we were done with the appetizer, the team member who was assisting our table, came up and boxed up what was remaining, and kept it in the back for when we were ready to leave the restaurant! The salads came out shortly afterward. I had a dill-lemon based sauce. The lettuce was a spring mix, and it was fresh! The salad was scrumptious! I couldn't eat too much since i wanted to save some room for the entrée! Once we had wrapped up with the salads, the team member again came out to our table to box up the salad! This was such a wonderful experience! The entrée was stunning! I was in awe when it had arrived at the table. There wasn't just [1] Filet Mignon on the plate, but 2!!!! Both of them were cooked perfectly, medium-well! The sauce provided mixed well with the steak, spinach, and asparagus! This was my first time having a potato croquette, and it won't be my last!!! This was one of my favorites! The mashed potatoes were fried on the outside, and on the inside, the mashed potato was mixed with chives, sour cream, and additional ingredients. This was one of my favorite meals I've had in such a long time! I wish this place was in Las Vegas. This would be my go-to spot for special occasions! Had the most disappointing eve from what used to be a spot that could never miss...had the veal medallions with prosciutto, manchego cheese...my plate came with a HUGE glop mashed potatoes and the prosciutto was wadded up into a sticky mess....seriously awful plating..and there was no taste...the medallions were not tender as veal should be and when I asked for additional sauce, which was supposed to be a white wine sauce, I was given something dark with an odd acidic taste. My husband ordered the Ahi tuna which came with a weird rubbery vein...we ordered an app of crispy Brussels that came lying in a pool of General Tso's sauce.....cancel king out the "crispy". When asked if I wanted a take home box and refused the owner came over and was kind enough to offer dessert which was appreciated but by that time I was just so disappointed...wasn't impressed when I explained what was going on and her reply was "well It looks like you enjoyed the veal" making note that pretty much that's all that was touched on my plate..just not the kind of comment one would make...also..the next table was served their dinner that was to have come with Royal trumpet mushrooms that didn't make it to her plate. ...again...so very disappointing that what used to be the go to spot where I could always count on exquisite service and food has fallen so... read more

First time in, pass by it a lot on my way to the ski lodge but never came in. People told me it was really good so made a reservation and went in I was shocked by how small it was inside. Only about 10 tables on the side I was on. Pretty plain inside, white walls and a gray rug. Was greeted right away and sat immediately. Waitress took our drink order and we reviewed the menu. We decided on a few apps, the chicken fried quail, tenderloin tail steak and squash chowder Quail was amazing. 3 pieces battered and fried to perfection with a red eye gravy and duck fat cornbread Steak was good, thin sliced and cooked medium Chowder was really good, so tasty and creamy. Had bacon bits, chunks of potato and lentils. Was just what I needed on a cold and snowy night The entrees come with a salad and it was very good. Very fresh with a lite dressing For entrees we got the scallops and the twin filet mignon Scallops came with cheese grits and everything was good. On 12/18/25 - we picked up their take-out special meal - to enjoy 'Savory At Home'. The meal offered was 'Daube'. And boy was it delicious! The salad was so fresh as well as the homemade dressing! The meal itself - just 'melted in your mouth'! Of course, with the meal came a nice portion of bread and butter...... then came the grand finale - Butterscotch Pudding with Short bread Crumbles! I wish I could break the rating system with something like an 8!! I know there's a reason they continue to be The Number One restaurant in Berks, and a reason why they're the ONLY place I want to go to celebrate anything (my birthday or wedding anniversary), but it still somehow boggles the mind every time they deliver. Today, they delivered in spades. I think it's the best meal I've had there, which is saying something! First of all, Chris was there to tend us, and it had been awhile. He is the consummate guide for the ride! We shared the Maine Lobster Salad and swooned the whole way. My hubby had the Pan-seared Scallops and I had the Duck Breast. To detail each one would take forever. Suffice it to say that they were each perfectly layered with flavor upon flavor. It was perfection with every bite.The signature Crème Brûlée (never disappoints!) and the Squash Cheesecake were the perfect finish along with excellent coffee. Salad with orange miso dressing and taro chips on gave it good flavor and crunch. They provided bread, which was good with salad. Yam puree with horseradish and trumpet mushrooms were both good. This place is a hidden gem. I can't say enough positive things about the Savory Grill. The atmosphere is a little small and tight however, the food makes up for any little deficiency that they have. The only negative thing I can say about this place is that the bathroom is tiny tiny tiny. I strongly feel that the cleanliness and feel of a bathroom in a restaurant is just as important as the overall atmosphere of the dining room and bar. Another thing is is that the bar is very tiny as well. But one thing to remember is that the property is a converted old house/building with some later added on additions. The staff is absolutely phenomenal and the chef is easily comparable to any big city/urban area chefs; my compliments! Highly highly recommend! You must go here! What do a drive in the country, fabulous drinks, and five star cuisine have in common? The Savory Grille! Sean Doyle has broken the mold for nouveau cuisine in the countryside of Philadelphia. As we drove up to the old stone tavern I thought General George Washington would ride up on his horse! This charming decades old farmhouse welcomed us with two dining areas in a tiny olde world restaurant complete with fresh baked bread and a plethora of libations from their charming antique bar. We started with a Lemondrop and Le Frenchman, an homage to the Olympics. Both were rimmed with neon sugars to match our sweet cocktails. The kitchen served a complimentary Tai chicken appetizer with orange sauce which all enjoyed. This was followed by a delicious stone ground bread served with tubs of fresh butter. Our spring salads were mounded 6 inches high and topped with and strips of taco chips and strawberry balsamic- all were very fresh. Entrees included rack of lamb, petite filet mignons, and the gigantic pork rib rack chop that was easily 1 inch thick and a foot wide! All were raved about as was the corn chowder. Desserts were perfection all around as we enjoyed creme brulee, fresh apple tart with homemade vanilla crème, and double chocolate cake. This party of five thoroughly enjoyed their dinners and look forward to a return soon. Enjoy a Michelin style meal in your backyard at New York prices. Worth the drive with no parking fees! Savory grill is one of my favorites. In this area fine dining is not an easy find but this place surpasses any city dining experience I've had from LA to NYC. This lamb was melt in your mouth tender. Outstanding. Truly amazing. Every single plate. Husband brought me for my birthday. Being a transplant I was not familiar with the restaurant. When I looked at the menu I was excited. This was Chef's throwback menu. O. M. G. It was amazing! The flavors were completely on point. Presentation was beautiful but not extra or pretentious. It was masterful. And, honestly, I was there to be in the moment and enjoy the meal with hubs. The small crudités was very nice! Martini was delicious. I started with the foie gras (if you know, you know). Melted in the mouth. Was divine. I told my husband that this is what bacon aspires to be when it grows up. (Yes I know, 2 totally different animals). Husband had the crab cake. Chef understood. Living close to the Maryland area - I'm a crab cake snob. I would put that crab cake up to any from the Maryland Eastern Shore. Spinach salad with hot bacon dressing was absolutely delicious. The dressing was just right not too acidic or sweet. The sweet potato frizzle was a nice complement to add texture but not overpower the flavor. The apple compote was a nice addition. I had the rack of lamb - absolutely superb. Lamb was cooked perfectly, very tender. Not over seasoned - you could taste the lamb, the crust was great. Husband had the halibut - again amazing! I had the olive oil cake with lemon curd. Was beautiful, moist, dense, perfect with the lemon curd. That lemon curd was breathtaking. Thank you Savory Grill for a memorable dining experience. We were greeted by Daniel as soon as we walked in and he was incredibly personable. Our waiter, Michael, was attentive and also very personable. We started with the octopus appetizer. I had the roasted duck and my wife had the scallops. Both were excellent. For dessert, I had the crème brûlée and my wife had the fresh Peach sorbet. Both were excellent. Drinks were also perfect.
