Our second time there, unfortunately not our best meal. First visit was 5+ years ago. Prime rib ordered medium rare came well done and the crab cakes aren't technically 'cakes', they're crab imperial (with red & green peppers) served in a broiler dish. When you go, don't miss the smoked salmon (hot smoked, nice big portion and DELICIOUS) or the drinks - the limoncello martini is the stuff dreams are made of. read more

We brought our party of 8 this past Saturday and we had such a wonderful experience! Rhonda and the Inn staff were so gracious, attentive, and made us feel so welcome. We had a seat in front of the beautiful fireplace and enjoyed the view of the room with its inviting fall decor, lace curtains, and Tiffany lighting. Food was ok - decent but nothing out of the ordinary. Older building dated decor. Seems to be a local regular crowd and the wait staff was pleasant for the most part. We have driven past the Inn at Maple Grove so many times and finally made a reservation. Wow! High end food experience in a comfortable historic setting. Prices were reasonable for the quality of the food. Steak was prepared perfectly and the seafood was fresh and delicious. Service was terrific, especially considering the times we are living in. Very friendly. We dressed up a little but you would be just as comfortable in jeans. Great dessert selection as well. We will definitely be back with friends. It is surprisingly close to the Lehigh Valley, but it is set in an old and very scenic section of Berks County. read more

Can/t tell you how many times we've been to the Inn at Maple Grove. Delicious each and every time. Tonight my husband had the crab cakes and stuffed baked potato. I had the rib eye and baked potato. The food was cooked to perfection,. Steak, juicy and delicious and done just right, Hubby ate every bit of his meal (I had to take a doggy bag home). The wait staff were fantastic. Very busy but never kept us waiting for more than a few minutes for refills, always came back to check on us (but not lurking). The atmosphere is warm, friendly, and welcoming. The Inn itself was built in 1793 and has a quaint rustic look and feel. We love it and will be heading back soon!! read more

We've been here twice since we moved to the Allentown area and love the old school ambiance and classic menu. While the food is good I can't give it five stars as their prime rib is way too fatty and I didn't love the clams casino nor stuffed mushrooms. A place that survives on appealing to upscale clientele and classic steakhouse food should prepare those items exquisitely. Service is good but seems to get a little frazzled when they're busy. Overall I recommend this place; it's a beautiful restaurant that you'd be happy to take your parents to when they visit. read more

Tried this restaurant out for my birthday dinner. The other reviews are pretty much spot on by my estimation. It's a cozy old country inn with very good food. The prices may seem a bit high at first for the decor - more than a bit rustic looking with a bar right in the main dining area where some nicely dressed as well as some seriously underdressed local color (i.e. just came from work at the local garage) hangs at the bar, but you realize that the pricing is reasonable for the quantity and quality of food you get. The salads were very fresh and the bread they serve tastes homemade. My Delmonico steak and my wife's sirloin tips meal were huge and cooked perfectly - medium rare. My only food disappointment was with the portion of the crab stuffed mushroom appetizer. The mushrooms were packed well but there were only three of them on the plate and while one was a decent size the other two were very small. If the two small ones had been a bit bigger or there were one or two more mushrooms I think that would have been more appropriate for $8.50. Taste wise though the mushrooms where great. Our waitress was excellent. She was attentive and very friendly, especially considering she was the only waitress in the entire dining room and she was covering 5 tables. My only major complaint, and what kept this from being a 5 star review, was the busgirl. She was constantly circling the room clearing plates, refilling water and bread, which is great. Unfortunately she wasn't all that friendly and seemed very unhappy to be there, which is such a downer when you're dining out. We'll definitely go there again some time. read more

Love this place! Don't be deceived by the outside of the building as it is a very old looking stone building and not too appealing (built in 1783 and legend has it that the place is haunted!) However inside it is charming and quaint. It's a relatively small place with a bar at one end and a large fireplace at the other end. In the middle are a bunch of tables. Wood beams are exposed, windows are drafty but it is such a cozy place. Service is very friendly and attentive! Our server told us all about the history of the building and about "Charlie" the Indian ghost who was hanged in their fireplace. I had the Delmonico steak which comes with soup or salad and a potato (stuffed, baked or fries) or veggies of the day. I love their homemade bleu cheese dressing so I also requested a side for my fries. Years ago they used to have batter dipped fries (which I loved!) but now they have a thicker potato wedge type fry (still good). My steak was really good. They don't use seasonings on it, it's just a good old fashioned charbroiled steak. I personally do like a little seasoning which is the only reason I didn't give this place 5 stars. That is just my personal preference though...I do realize this way is actually preferred by many. Anyway, it was huge! I ate until I was full and still took home probably 3/4 of the steak. My husband had the lobster tail which he raved about. My son had a chicken sandwich which he thought was just ok (That's because he's a kid and this was a REAL, charbroiled chicken breast and not a fried patty from KFC lol...I'm sure the adults would love it) No ghost sightings this time, but we'll be going back for another glimpse! read more

The food is prepared in a fairly heavy manner but fresh and well prepared. I like a lighter fare and had an excellent maple-glazed baked salmon which was delicious. WHAT A DISSAPOINTMENT!! Had a 5:pm reservation for 5 people on Friday Dec. 30th. My mother (87) likes to eat early, and there were 4 other tables already seated in the restaurant which holds about 14-15 tables. We ordered our entrees promptly and did not have any cocktails or appetizers. I ordered the Grilled pork chops MEDIUM, as recommended by the waitress. The other members of our party ordered crab cakes, steak, Veal Parm, and one soup. Our order was not complicated, and we were seated early. Salads came out shortly after, but the entrees didn't show up until 1 hr. and 10 minutes later. The entrees were delivered and then the waitress disappeared. (Actually, she was chit-chatting with some regulars across the room for approx. 10 minutes.) My pork chops were well-done, and dry, could barely cut them with the steak knife. I tried to flag the waitress down, but to no avail. The minutes seemed like hours, and the rest of my party felt bad. I finally pulled a bus-girl aside and asked for the manager. The manager agreed the chops were way overcooked and offered to cook a new entree. I declined, because at that point my dinner party was ready to leave, due to being neglected. We ran out of water, ran out of bread, ran out of butter, etc. Conclusion, LOWER YOUR EXPECTATIONS IF YOU EAT HERE. THIS IS NOT A PREMIUM DINING EXPERIENCE. PLENTY OF OTHER OPTIONS IN THE LEHIGH VALLY. WON'T BE BACK...PERIOD!! read more

Cozy place with a lot of character. We both had steaks which were great cuts of meat. We thought they could have been seasoned better, but overall we couldn't complain. I had the french onion crock...excellent. Place was full on Saturday night at 7pm but we had a reservation and were seated within 10 minutes. We will be back to try the prime rib. I checked the website out on Monday and yes they are open on Mondays, so I called but got no answer, not even a recording. The site stated that they were open at 4:00. I started calling at 2:00 thinking they would be there. It wasn't until 3:30 that someone answered the phone and told me they were closed for a break. I had five of us going to have dinner there. Very good steaks just grilled properly. No fancy sauces. Old school surf and turf, broiled seafood platters with a good size lobster tail. I think there was actually a half ducking on the menu. Clams casino, snapper soup, French onion soup. This is a menu back in time, but it still works. The prices are commensurate with the quality, but this place is not inexpensive. But worth the cost. Every now and then it's nice to see a menu with the oldies and not gave to deal with the high brow. read more

With a heavy heart I write this review. My dad use to bring me here for special occasions. I loved it. I didn't want to write a bad review, but I just had my last bad experience here. This was my 3rd visit in the past year and each time has gotten progressively worse. Let's start with parking, what a joke, no spots and its not paved (ladies leave the fancy shoes at home). We sat right next to the fake fireplace and were absolutely freezing. Our meals came out cold to at best a luke warm. The steaks no matter how they were ordered came out black and charred. Never order the twice baked potato (disgusting) or the crab cakes (all filler). Old school charm has apparently won over the regulars, but this somewhat regular is done with the Inn at Maple Grove. read more

The two times I've visited the Inn, they were on very quiet evenings. Both occasions occurred on a Tuesday and there was never an issue with our server. I visited once as a couple (date night) and the second time with a bigger party. The Inn has a cozy atmosphere with a working fireplace, perfect for warming up during the damp winter months. Its also a small place which, I've heard, fills up quickly on weekends. Its best to call for reservations during that time (weeknights are better for general stop-ins). For those not looking for a big meal, or willing to drop the $$$$$, a Light Fare/Bar menu available Monday through Friday, but you need to ask for it. It's not provided with the regular menu (at least, at the dining tables). Both menus can be reviewed online in advance. Everything on the menu is made from scratch so be prepared to wait, and come early (ie before actually wanting to eat). If you get hangry, that's your problem. On both occasions, our servers knew the menu well. If they were unable to answer any questions, a prompt run back into the kitchen for the answer resulted. Overall food is an appropriate size and dinner entrees come with soup/salad at one side (at minimum). On the first trip I ordered veal and it was served the way veal should be, tender and NOT breaded! It was tasty and not smothered in some type of sauce. The Burger I ordered on the second trip was also delicious. I typically eat these medium well, but order Medium as cooks seem to never get it right (Medium burgers are typically cooked medium well, so its delivered the way I like to eat them but technically cooked inappropriately). We met Eric Wade the owner who hails from Brooklyn and his father moved them to Alburtis over 23 years ago~ GREAT FOOD! and the pricies are 1970's . I had the best Filet ever and it was cooked behind the bar on a grill by Eric ` if you chose to stay the night just before the Inn is the BLUE ORCHID B&B . Food was warm bit not hot. Staff tries but service extremely slow. It seems they want to be a 5 star restaurant with their pricing but the staff are not trained. The ambiance was nice but it is a split between the bar with the local riff raff and the dining area with tables covered in linen. It's a restaurant trying to figure out who they want to cater to.
