Cute little seating area near the bar
Rebecca A.

We stopped in here for brunch on a whim bc our usual place was too packed. We were seated right away. The place was big inside and decorated really nicely. They have a full bar and a private room in the back separated by beautiful sliding barn doors. The service was prompt and attentive. We tried 3 items from the brunch menu and each one was delicious. I plan to try it again for dinner! The only small thing I would mention was that the bathrooms were not great. Dark, cold and sort of dinghy. Not filthy but not super clean, either. Could have just been messy people before me, but lots of soap dripping down the wall. Certainly not bad enough to downgrade the stars tho. I'm a big one for bathroom cleanliness = kitchen cleanliness.... Lo

Great calamari- most likely hand dusted with light coating.

Third visit to Butcher for lunch. I enjoy the rotating featured preparation of wings and mussels that are listed on the blackboard, though I skipped bc mussels were fra Diavlo and wings Buffalo- and stomach didn't want spice. I opted for calamari- freshly dredged, not pre-coated and frozen/ tasteless. Delicious: lightly coated, more like a tempura, not greasy, calamari tasted like....calamari! (Which, even at best, doesn't taste like much unless you're near the sea and it's fresh caught). Also included were hot peppers ( maybe fresnos and jalapeños?) that I sampled and were also good but had to skip. Portion wasn't huge, but it is just an appetizer and priced as such. My friend's blt with salmon was said to be good and came with fries or salad choice, a nice option. Alas, the beer list, only listed on blackboard and kinda hard to see with my mediocre eyes ( no printed tap list- I asked!), is just too IPA-heavy with Christmas ales and such taking up valuable space. Hey, I'm not against interesting craft brews, but there wasn't a regular pale ale, Pilsner, or lager on tap. I did enjoy my Great Divide yeti imperial stout however; just sharing my opinion that too much niche craft choices were a bit limiting. Bartender was also waiting tables, perhaps stretched a bit thin. After initial check in, I then sat at bar for @ 10 minutes waiting to order a beer which is a bit annoying since the seats at bar were mostly empty....and I was thirsty! Probably just a timing thing bc she was on top of things afterwards. Overall, I like this place- interesting menu, craft brews, nice interior, easy parking in lot, reasonable prices.

Decided on a last minute trip to the restaurant today. They did not disappoint. Great service and friendly staff. This was my first time visiting during brunch. There were plenty of breakfast and lunch options. It was after 2pm so I opted for a lunch meal. The falafel sandwich was good and filling. Love the fries. I tried a birch beer float for dessert. Very tasty.

Steak and pork chops

This is one of our favorite local places! We absolutely love the sexy fries, we get them every time we go. We made a reservation tonight and they got us in right away even though we were early. I got the steak and my fiancé got the pork chop special. The food was excellent. We always get good service & tonight was no different. Our waitress Autumn was amazing. She was so quick and made sure we got everything we needed. Such a great local place for a date night!

Brisket grilled cheese and fries

We went on a Saturday and had a reservation which I think is recommended. Started with the hush puppies and we loved the honey butter. The hummus was smoky chipotle. Tasted very fresh and so was the pita but neither of us really tasted peppers or smoke in it. Good none the less. He loved the brisket grilled cheese - filling but not greasy - and the fries which were crisp but needed some salt. I got the curried chickpea sandwich which I loved. Got greens on the side which were fine but just spring mix. Could've used some croutons or other veggies to dress it up as a side. We would return.

Mahi mahi tacos. Quite delicious, and plenty of food.

Literally a restaurant that ran out of half the items on the menu. If you like food you may not be able to get what you want.

Always great food and service. One of my favorites for shrimp and grits. But also love their specials. Cocktails are outstanding too.

Very warm and welcoming place. Service was very good. My wife's Chicken BLT was outstanding. My falafel sandwich was just OK.

I learned later that this restaurant has been around since the early to mid 1900's. Plenty of parking in a large open lot. The place is very large and has one of the longest bars I've seen. The wood is very dark and you can see the chefs cooking over the hearth. They don't take reservations and won't see you until your entire party is there. One of the things I liked for our party of 10 was they had no problems with seating as they also have many large round tables. For mixed drinks, they make them pretty big and potent. For my martini, they sent back an extra glass. They also had great bleu cheese stuffed olives. We ordered onion rings (8 large to an order) and fried zucchini. The onion ring I had was pretty good. I didn't have the fried zucchini but heard it was also pretty good. Other than the light fare items, all dinners come with their salad bar which has both iceberg lettuce and Caesar Salad along with many fixings as well as cheeses and bread. I had the Baked Seafood Platter which came with scallops, shrimp, Clam Casino (without the shell), Maryland crab cake and a small lobster tail for $49.99. My wife had the baked chicken breast which she said was quite dry. The dining area is quite large and reminds me of the restaurants at a casino. Some in our group said it reminds them of Medieval Times due to the dark wood vibe. While I thought it was a bit pricey, I would still come back and try their signature steaks or prime rib.

It is a tiny building but they are doing it right! There is complimentary valet parking which was great because I have no idea where we would have parked. We were seated at exactly 4:30, and our server was friendly and fast. RJ and I ordered Downeast Peach Mango Cider which was refreshing and delicious. We started with crab and artichoke dip and beef and weck eggrolls, and our table ordered 2 fish and chips, the "Luxury" seafood pie, shepherd's pie, and the beef on weck sandwich. My weck included onions, mushrooms, swiss, and bacon with a side of au jus and horseradish. Yum, what a salty, savory, spicy combo. The roast beef was very tender and juicy. The fish and chips were all enjoyed, as were both pies. We did not make it to dessert but will try that again another time. We were in and out in about 1 hour without being rushed at all. We will definitely return to the Whip!
