There's a lot of mixed reviews on here so I want to share mine ! Yes does it look like a "dive bar" kind of but mostly it's just old - they have regular seating as well. I have dined in now and also had takeout and I do have to say that dining in, was a much better experience ! The tables are definitely a little squishy and our waitress wasn't the most attentive but the food rocked ! My fiancé and I both got burgers - one was a special burger and we also got I think a special appetizer. The chicken parm eggrolls were so good and the - I think it was an Elvis burger with jalapeño cream cheese - oh my god so good ! We also got the Texas toast smash burger which was good but the special burger out best it in spades. Honestly one of the better burgers I've had. The consensus is that they have really good burgers and I cannot argue with that - just try one and it may change your opinion of this place. Both the fries and chips are good but there is an upgrade charge for fries. Now when I go takeout I got the carved turkey dinner which was also very good. Tasted very fresh and was decently proportioned but I know that they give you more when dining in. I also would have loved a green vegetable with all the carbs. If you get takeout you're supposed to just slide up to the register that's squeezed at the back of the bar. Which I didn't know , but no big deal! Their online ordering was also not working. Overall come here for good food - especially burgers and yes you can drink. We came in at about 3:40 and was only offered the regular menu. The couple next to us who seem to be regulars got the early bird and happy hour menu, which we didn't know existed. We had to ask for it. The food was just sub par. $4 for fries that came out cold. I see this restaurant all over my Facebook and I thought it would have been better. Stopped in for a drink with a friend on a Monday evening around 6p - first time here for both of us. I really liked their beer menu with a mix of "crafty" and standard beers. I had a Breakfast Stoudt and Pliny IPA, both were served in nice glassware. My female friend had a Toffee martini (IIRC) and a "hard" lemonade cocktail. Sorry, can't remember the names, but both were good. We ordered a basket of fries in between. We sat in the large dining area and had really good service from our server and had two others check-in on us regularly to refill water, etc. It was the perfect level of service for two people taking up a dining room table to basically drink. The dinner crowd poured in and out without too much noise. TVs had the Winter Olympics on at a low volume. I wanted to move to the bar but she wasn't interested, but I did see the pool table and game area when we walked in, and I'd love to check out the outdoor deck area sometime. Sat on the back deck of this cute little gastro pub out in the suburbs. Split two orders of the lancaster boneless wings with my table: honey hot & garlic parmesan. Although I wouldn't really consider these wings and more of a boneless bite they were great! Both the flavor and the quality of meat was A+. I've not been there in 20 years, but went yesterday for the Eagles game. Everything from the hostess, to the bartenders, to the food expediter, and the food were on point. I thought the chicken fingers were a little bit odd that they came out more as cutlets, than chicken fingers but they gave you a ton of food so that was fine. I went in before meeting a friend and sat at the end of the bar, 3 bartenders and everyone has a drink. A girl finally walked up, after she got done talking to the other staff. Goes up to the guy next to me who has a full drink and is asking him how he is doing. I wave to her, she looks at me, stops talking to him and WALKS PAST ME and goes to two "locals" who were leaving and converses with them, goes the the people next to them, WHO HAVE FULL DRINKS, and asks how they are doing. Finally comes over to me. I leave and come back for dinner after meeting my friend. Sit at the bar and again the bartender's are just talking to each other and don't see me sit. The sign out front says $9.99 burgers. The bartender finally comes and I ask if all burgers are on special. He says "no, the bourbon BBQ and the smash burger are not" I said "ok, I'll have a turkey burger" he says "only beef burgers" I said "that's not what you said" and order a regular burger with fries. I order my second beer and it comes in a 12oz glass, I look at the beer list and it doesn't say anything about that. She comes back a few minutes later and says "I think I gave you the wrong beer and says the name" I said "no, that is what I ordered but I didn't expect the smaller glass, it doesn't say that" she says "really?" and looks at it and says "it's only 4oz" and walks away. I couldn't believe it. The bill comes and the burger is $9.99 but the fries are $4.25!!! I was like "what?" He never said anything and he knew I was not a "local". Haven't been to NBI since before COVID. Wow! They have done a lot, plenty of seating, fresh photos and decorations, plenty of TV screens. They have become a "gastropub", Nice upgrade from an old neighborhood pub that had good food. NBI always had really good food, now there are 4 to close entries and a large menu choice for earlier in the day. Our party of 4 had specialty burgers and cheese steak. All quite good. Price $80 for this quality is very fair. So we observed that is food is still very good. Wide selection of draft beers, many local and regional. I ate here for the first time on a Thursday at dinner service. The bar area was crowed for Happy Hour so I decided to be seated at a table. This Inn is casual and serves mostly bar food with only a few entree's. I ordered a Guinness Burger, fries and then also ordered a Guinness to drink (needed to keep to the Guinness theme of the meal ;) ). The food was good. I loved the hand cut French Fries. The burger was huge! No scrimping on the quantity of meat in the patty and it was cooked as I requested. My only complaint would be that there was no list of beverages supplied to the table. I realize it is a bar but it was labeled as s Gastropub. It would have been nice to have a list of what was available by way of adult beverages instead of me needing to ask for the options. I stop in the New Britain Inn now and then. Today I went for lunch. I had a good cheesesteak, fries, and a beer. Sat at the bar and watch the many tv's along the back wall. Service was very good. People were friendly. The price was reasonable. Plenty of parking along side and the back of the building. Free internet. Take credit cards. Many food items to select from. Nine or more beers on tap at the bar. There are several rooms to enjoy your food at a table. This place has been there for years and always has a good following. Every Tuesday night they have freshly cooked turkey, stuffing and mashed potatoes starting at 5:00PM. I recommend you give the New Britain Inn a try. read more

The bartenders are friendly and attentive, creating an inviting atmosphere for locals or newcomers. I prefer to sit in the dining area, which is much nicer and airier, and you are removed from the bar, which is full of locals relaxing and relieving the tension from their work day. The waitstaff is always friendly and eager to help, especially when it comes to ordering wings or boneless chicken, as they are sold by weight. If you think half a pound of boneless wings will be enough, let me say: you should definitely go for a full pound. You can always take the leftovers home. Speaking of the waitstaff, they are consistently friendly and attentive! The veggies were oddly large and overcooked but the salmon was way better then expected. You can't go wrong with the NBI. Classic, hometown bar. There's something so appealing about the look and feel of this place. It's been around for what seems like forever. We bellied-up to the bar and the service was excellent - everyone was so attentive, friendly and engaging. The Sunday football crowd was starting to flow in and lots of hello's were being exchanged. We ordered some beers and the Guinness burger and Salmon wrap, both came out within 10-15 minutes after ordering. Portions were generous and tasted better than expected. A solid choice when you're just not sure what you're in the mood for. So glad we made the trip! read more

Plenty of parking & plenty of seating inside. Even with a private party going on in the one room. (Bigger inside then the way it looks from the outside). We did go on a Tuesday night though. Inside is very clean and the feel of a nice hometown inn. There were gaming machines & a pool table. It has a nice size bar inside. Also an outside area with a Tiki Bar. We sat in a side room. Service was excellent! We actually had two servers who were both so friendly and took great care of us (party of 4). They felt more like friends then servers. We even all shared some laughs with kidding with each other back & forth. The burgers are outstanding. Served with homemade potato chips. Burger was fresh (not frozen patty's). It was made medium, the way I requested it. Roll was nice and fresh. My wife had the Turkey dinner special. She loved it. Beers were great. Tasted fresh. Love when a place keeps their beer tap lines clean. And there was a good choice of different beers. This was our second time there. Every Thursday is all you can eat wing night. We have been going for the last 6 Thursdays, service has been amazing. Wings are also excellent. Never have to ask for refills, they kinda have a team approach to service. They get the food out so fast. The place is well laid out Giant TVs. My wife always gets the fish and chips which she loves. Ah the NBI! Great local joint. We just moved closer to here and will be here more regularly. So glad they made that addition which looks nice. Food is solid and I love John the bartender who makes an incredible Dirty Shirley and my husband loves his Vespers. It's also helps that he is handsome. 2nd visit to this establishment and still rates just an "OK". Luckily the lunch I had the first time around was better than our visit the other night, so it averaged to the 3-star rating. Young hostess was unaware of their special Sunday night prime rib dinner. I know it's difficult to find staff these days, but please spend a couple of hours to train someone and not just throw them on the job without any background information. Our server was super friendly and to be honest she saved the evening for us. We ordered 2 prime rib dinners. I wasn't a fan of the vegetable that was to be served (brussel sprouts), so I asked if I could substitute something else? She asked me if I wanted a salad instead. She gave me every indication that this was to be served IN PLACE of the brussel sprouts (it wasn't, I got charged for a side salad on our bill). Kid from the back wearing a baseball cap put a salad down in front of me, then only about a minute later came out with two plates of prime rib dinners (maybe 3 minutes after we ordered). Obviously, they had dinner plates ready to go in the kitchen and he just grabbed them right away. Problem was the prime rib was hardly warm. Potato was hot but the meat was almost cold to the touch. Plus getting it faster than ordering at Taco Bell was a little disconcerting. Taste was OK, the dinner was $20.99 and that's the kind of meat we had, somewhat fatty and some generous gristle, but it wasn't a $45 cut of prime rib either, so I suppose you have to factor that in. They have a very generous pour on their wine by the glass - almost 8oz. for what was a $9 glass of wine. Overall - just OK. We'll probably return again for lunch for a burger or something, but their "prime rib night" was more of a miss than a hit, so we'll look elsewhere for prime rib, even if we have to pay more. Summary: inexperienced hostess who was clueless about their signature dish on Sunday night, an excellent, personable server who made the evening for us, a kitchen too eager to get dinners out and we ended up being served cool prime rib, and a good generous pour of wine by the glass. read more

I have been visiting the NBI as long as I can remember. The bar food is really good and the dinner entrees are also surprisingly good for a small local place. It is a college bar, Delaware Valley University is within walking distance so this place may not get crowded until 10 pm. I usually frequent around happy hour or after golf for the food Had a black and blue burger for lunch today and it was very good. For a "dive bar" the food is delightfully surprising. This is the second time we've been here, and both times we were surprised at how good the food actually was. We got the clams in a white wine sauce to start, and were given a huge portion of at least 20 clams, all of which were cooked perfectly and had no grit. We also got the pirogies in a cream sauce which were delicious. For dinner we got a standard cheeseburger which was well-seasoned and cooked perfectly, and also got a rack of ribs that practically fell off the bone. The ambiance is very dive bar-like, but if you want great food at a cheap price, this place is it. If you're into trivia, try going on Tuesday nights at 9. They have $3 beers once it starts, which is closer to 9:30 honestly, but it's a good time. Also, if you're looking for a place to watch football on Sunday's, they have NFL Sunday ticket and enough TVs to go around. Great local joint! read more

Will not be back anytime soon! This was our go to local spot. We could always count on friendly staff and good menu! Always felt welcomed and Don had our drinks ready and always perfect and consistent as soon as we sat down. New staff Are OK, but not really interested in making customers feel at home. They spend too much time congregating at the cash registers socializing with each other. The "new "menu is seriously lacking and disappointing to see a lot of the old favorites removed. The last time we were there we looked at the new menu and noticed the "staff picks" or "staff favorites". Instead of Staffs favorite, I think it would've been more appropriate to have "customers picks"- So disappointed -will be looking for a new place to settle into. read more

Went here for a fundraising event with friends. Three of my friends ended up getting their hot meals an hour before mine and another friends-- mine was a salad. The manager came over and asked how everyone was doing, we replied that two of us had not received our meals and that it had been 40 minutes since we had ordered. She came back and notified us that we were wrong, that the ticket had been put in just 20 minutes prior (which could not have been true because our friends that had received their orders had already finished eating their meals and we had ordered at the same time). Likewise, my friends steak was mostly fat, which for $20 is quite a disappointment. The manager came back and told us she would comp us 20% due to the inconvenience. When the server came back with our checks, she said she was comping us 10%. My friend corrected her, saying that the manager said 20% and a few minutes later the manager came back, this time she was very rude, claiming she was giving us 10% off because we were students and we were getting the student discount -- she didn't discount our meal because it was bad, like she stated she was, she was giving three people at the table student discounts (despite all of us being students). Overall, a two hour meal in a near empty restaurant, accompanied by a very rude manager, sloppy service, and sub-par food. The French fries were soggy, chicken tenders nearly burnt to a crisp, a fatty steak, small portion of Mac and cheese, no one bothered to refill our waters or check up on us, and incredibly pricey for the quality (and quantity) of our meal. read more
