Went to Skyline for the first time the other night and what a great first experience. The burgers were great and so were the loaded French fries. The service was pleasant and quick and the selection of beers was nice. My only recommendation is that they put a QR code on the menu with the current list of beers because they do not have a beer menu and depending on where you are sitting you have to walk over to the board to see what they have. Loved the homey atmosphere! There are two parts to the place, one with booths and tables and the second with a big bar. The menu has tons of options that could fit anyone's taste and it's not too overwhelming. I loved my turkey mashed potato plate, which is a Tuesday night special and the grilled cheese was great as well. The best part was the quizzo which started at 7:30, and everyone is welcome to play. There are 4 rounds so people could jump in and out. I loved the cozy atmosphere and could see why this is a local favorite. Will come back! However, the only issue is that there is no dessert! Laid back and chill. It's like a Cheers (the old show, don't know if anyone remembers!). Servers go out of their way to make you feel comfortable, and even the customers make you feel welcome. No pretensions here. I've loved everything I've had here from the fried green beans to the wings, to the cheese steaks, to the cheese steak egg rolls. Oh, and they have a juke box. Outside tables and now indoor is allowed too. Though as of this writing you can't sit at the bar because I guess politicians have decided that bar stools and bar surfaces are dirtier than grocery store check out belts. But all these rules will probably change in a week. So get there while you can, enjoy it while you can! They'll make you forget all this craziness and you'll leave with optimism! read more

I have been here many times. We have enjoyed the pub food. However, seating is at a minimum in 6 booths and the service varies each time. On this visit, as always, I ask for mayonnaise as a side for fries. This time was no exception. The waitress had to be reminded 4 times to bring it. She didn't seem happy. Then another blonde middle aged woman, whom hadn't been seen the entire time, brings the mayonnaise. While using it, I feel sometime hard in my mouth. It's a small bar restaurant but we felt very welcomed with a great waitress. Many TVs available to watch and jukebox music playing was nice. What drew me to the Skyline were the good reviews on Yelp, so the hubs and I went there one Monday evening. Skyline is in a little strip mall building in Chalfont. I was slightly unnerved by what I saw outside - quite a few motorcycles and people sitting on the curb by the entrance, smoking cigarettes - but we went in. The inside is very typical of a small town-y bar/restaurant (not in a bad way - just saying it's what most people would expect, I think). We sat at the bar that night and had a few beers and some food (wings, cheesesteak, skyline fries - basically crab fries). We both very much enjoyed the food. Bartender was very nice. Did get a few kinda loud people nearby (seemed like regulars), but they disappeared every 15 minutes or so to go outside and smoke, so we had breaks from their loudness. Came back a few weeks later for cheeseburger night (Thursday, I think...) and our cheeseburgers were great. The waitress was attentive and very nice. Quieter on the restaurant side, which I liked, though we could still hear the really loud "regulars" on the other side at the bar. I can swear like a sailor myself, but this chick was making me uncomfortable with all the f-bombs and other salty language. So, TL;DR synopsis - great food, decent selection of beer (draft and bottle), nice specials on different nights of the week. Some "characters" at the bar frequently, but other than being loud and a little salty, nothing overtly offensive or rude. If the food was just average, we wouldn't go back, but the food is worth it. read more

I decided to take the extended family (nine of us in total) to Skyline due to its location near to my daughter's performance today. I know you shouldn't ever judge a book by its cover, but based on the external appearance, I honestly wasn't expecting much. When we walked in, there was a good crowd at the bar and everyone kind of gave us a "you don't belong here" look. I didn't have high hopes. Since there wasn't a hostess stand, I likely did look a little confused. After a few minutes standing & looking around - with the entourage behind me - the bartender told us to feel free to pick our own seats in the dining room. I asked if it would be ok to push some tables together and she said yes. We settled in and a waitress quickly appeared with menus. There was a good variety of typical pub fare and the waitress filled us in on the specials. I was pleased that everyone (ranging in age from 9 - 69) quickly found something that appealed to them. We ordered two appetizers - onion rings & hot wings - and a variety of meals including the kids mac-n-cheese, a patty melt, hamburger, BBQ chicken sandwich, buffalo chicken sandwich, a couple of cheesesteaks, and the fish & chips. I am pleased to report that EVERYONE truly enjoyed their meals. I was the one picking up the tab, and when I saw the bill, I couldn't believe that everyone was happy and I had spent less than $100 (pre tip - over $100 with a well-deserved tip). I can definitely see us returning, and maybe next time we won't look so cluelessly out of place (or perhaps they'll consider getting a "seat yourself" sign in the meantime!). read more

I really like the Skyline, its a nice little dive bar in a strip mall and it does one hell of a business. It's really a big time local Chalfont hang, people are friendly and if you grew up in the area you'll always bump into some old friends. Not to mention they have a great kitchen, that as far as I know is open till 12 if not later. It's one of the only places in the Chalfont area where you can get a cheese steak with whiz on it. The weeknights are great cause they always have a special going. The beer is cold, the company's good, the food is delicious and the juke box is jumping, what more could you ask for in a local bar? When I loved up to Chalfont, I was on the search for a new hang out bar, similar to Sandy's Roast Beef in Oxford Valley. A place that is welcoming, friendly, has good drinks and great food. When a few friends started going here for Quizzo, I came along and I've been hooked ever since. I'm here every Tuesday for trivia, beer and great food. The wings are hot but with flavor. The burgers are really good, I had the Smokehouse Burger just last week and I couldn't finish, it was so big! Fried green beans are also a favorite. If I could rate this establishment a ZERO I would. A wk. ago I picked up 4 cheese steaks and 2 pds of fries. Number 1 they gave me the fries dumped in a brown paper bag. Worse yet, the steaks ALL had what appeared to be white hard disks. My daughter almost broke her tooth. I saved examples to tell/show the manager. However, every day I have called there only to hear call back in the a.m. or p.m. or they don't know when the manager will be in at all. Don't waste your money going to this place. read more

This review is intended for the owner of the Skyline. When we spoke earlier today (8/1/12) you expressed an interest in knowing why an unhappy customer was leaving your establishment. Hopefully you happen across this, as I was truly infuriated this evening and I apologize for not being able to give you this explanation in person. I had been heckled for over two hours and was either fighting or leaving, so I left. I arrived by myself and took a seat at the end of the bar. I didn't bother anyone, and no one really said anything to me. Good so far. Shortly after my friend arrived, there were a few jokes about the fact that my (awesome) mustache is really creepy & awkward. I'll let you in on a little secret . . . that's the point; I don't want or need to deal with people I don't already know and the creepy mustache accomplishes that nicely. Where I run into trouble is with drunks, a-holes & guys with something to prove - and you've got the tri-fecta: the short guy with the buzz cut. After a few rounds of jokes, the laughing at my expense died down and my friend & I proceeded to chat. After a few minutes, I realized that I had yet to ask the bartender if I could plug my phone in, as the battery had died on my way to the bar and the only charger I had on me was a wall charger. In order to break the ice on an awkward request, I volunteered that I needed my phone to work so that I could check in with my wife. And guess who chimes in again for some laughs . . . I'm a good sport, and don't get me wrong, I like to laugh at something that's funny. But I also know how to mind my own business, sense when someone else isn't "having fun" anymore and most importantly, I don't f with dudes with creepy mustaches. Isn't that common sense? So now our meal comes, and my roast beef sandwich is inedible. Inedible may be a little too strong, I guess it was physically possible for me to eat the sandwich, but my jaw wouldn't have worked for a week after because it was like biting through a leather belt. I took two bites, nibbled on some fries and said nothing to the bartender about my thoughts on the meal because I had already decided I wouldn't be returning again and didn't see the point in causing a fuss. When she inquired as to whether or not I was getting full, I responded that I "wasn't fond of the roast beef". That's it. Loud mouth down the lane kicks in again and decides to give me a hard time because the sandwich I was served wasn't good. I'll give you our exchange for a bit here almost verbatim: HIM: Tasted like horse right? ME: What's wrong with horse meat? YOU WALK OUT AND JOIN HIS FRIEND AT THE END OF THE BAR HIM: You wouldn't tell the owner that. . . ME: Sure I would, he should know if the food isn't great HIM: Hey, this guy says your sandwich is worse than horse meat YOU APPROACH ME AND TRY TO ASCERTAIN WHAT'S GOING ON. HIM: He said your sandwich takes like horse meat . . . NONSENSICAL HORSE REFERENCE. ME: I said that I wasn't fond of it but did not refer to it as horse meat. HIM: Hiho Silver . . . I have a small one . . . the last time I saw a woman naked was 1994 . . YOU GET THE POINT. I EXPLAIN TO YOU THAT THE LOUDMOUTH IS JUST BEING A JERK. From this point until the time I flipped out and left, you were making brief appearances at the bar throughout a near constant stream of harassment. And it seemed to be the case that the laughing from that side of the bar would erupt each and every time that you made an appearance, and then you'd disappear back into the kitchen. I'll give you this - at least you didn't laugh in a customer's face. Then the best part of it all was when I had to come back for my phone and we had another chance to chat. You probably thought you had made a breakthrough and were about to figure out what you could do to make the situation right, when you admitted that the biggest d-bag I've come into contact with in the last 6 years isn't a regular, he's a freaking employee. I will not be visiting again. That's over and done with, and at this point you'd probably prefer it. On the other hand, I'm well-off, well-spoken, and really pissed. So it definitely is to your detriment as I'm going to go out of my way to encourage other people to only eat / drink / visit your establishment when that guy is not working. I think you should fire him. Until you do, he'll be giving you a bad name. That being said, anyone considering the Skyline, I highly encourage you to go, but if there's some 5'2, buzz-cut wearing guy behind the bar/at the door - tell him to f off and walk right out. Everyone else has been awesome the other times I've been in, and the beer is cold. I won't recommend the food, because I've only eaten there twice and 0.500 isn't something to brag about in my book. He's a jerk and unless you desire to spend your time either being harassed or watching someone else be harassed (and maybe that's your thing) you're better off elsewhere. read more

The bar is descent, nothing fancy and a little outdated. Not horrible for a small hole in the wall tho. What was terrible was, you have to pass the open kitchen on the way to the bathroom. For about 3-4 hours, a huge piece of cooked beef sat uncovered directly on a table in their kitchen. I simply could not eat a thing from there after seeing them multiple times cut and serve that! We went to the Skyline for dinner a few nights ago and it was the first time I had been there in 30+ years, so I had no idea what to expect. As it turned out, the people were incredibly friendly, the service was very good and the food was delicious. Across the four of us, we sampled a large section of the menu. The sandwiches/burgers were nicely sized, prepared exactly to order and quite good. Our drinks were kept topped up and the atmosphere, while noisy, was very comfortable.
