The food was fantastic--we shared the Le Frenchy pizza, the Pork Grilled Cheese, and the Sexy Fries, and every single dish was delicious and perfect for sharing. Our server was attentive, kind, and made us feel really taken care of throughout the night. Even though we didn't catch the train going by, sitting outside and enjoying the weather made it just as enjoyable. Overall, such a great spot with amazing food and a really nice atmosphere. It's truly unfortunate- they have a great menu and Souderton deserves a restaurant that can deliver on it. Admittedly, it's tough to find a good steak in the area but what Northbound served me was upsetting for the price point- an unevenly cooked sirloin with a green, scaly glisten. I understand a green tinge to beef is nothing to be concerned about but to me, this indicates a low quality cut of beef. Northbound has the chance to be a truly exceptional restaurant. Ordered take out instead of dining in. Wanted to try the crab dip. I was highly disappointed when I opened the container that was supposed to be grilled sourdough bread but was actually burnt white toast. They have a covered outdoor seating area that is well heated. The day we ate there was extremely windy. Although it was a little noisy, there were no drafts which surprised me. Our server was very friendly. He seemed to care about making sure we were enjoying our meal. Actually everyone who worked there had a smile and were pleasant in their interactions. The food was good. I had a fried duck stir fried rice which was a good sized portion. They used duck fat for the stir fry. The rice tasted even better the next day when I ate the leftovers. Recent visit - November 2025 My partner and I went here for lunch. We started with the Crab Dip (Havarti Cheese, Cheddar Cheese, Cream Cheese, Jumbo Lump Crab, Green Onion, Grilled Sourdough Bread). She had the Chicken and Waffles (Belgium Waffle, Fried Chicken, Bourbon Spiced Pure Maple Syrup, Bacon Butter). The waffle was very light and fluffy. The chicken was excellent. My friend and I went here on a Wednesday evening around 6 pm. It was very busy. Apparently there was some type of "seasonal tasting" menu available on the patio only. It was 100 degrees out, so we had no interest in that. While I was parking, my friend attempted to get us a table. The hostess said she had a high top available in the bar. My friend said that was fine. A few minutes later, I came inside and my friend was still waiting to be sat. Multiple customers came in after us and were seated immediately. My friend had to ask the hostess if she was going to seat us! She said yes and then proceeded to seat other people. Unreal. Then another guy came out and asked us if we were being helped and we told him what happened. Then the hostess showed back up, he said something to her, and then she finally took us to the table. Listen, I was a server for many years. I get the ins and outs of a restaurant. All you have to do is communicate with the customers. If she was waiting for the table to be cleaned off, or if there was some other reason for the delay, then just have the courtesy to tell us and not ignore us. Anyway... Once we were seated, our waitress greeted us relatively quickly. We ordered the blueberry cornbread, the turkey blt and the falafel wrap (we shared all 3). All the food was delivered in a timely manner, and the presentation was nice. Out of everything, the cornbread was the best. My friend loved all of the items, but I did not. Falafel wrap was ordinary. Nothing special at all. The fries were crisp and tasty. And ceasar salad was ok (we got a side salad in place of the fries for one of the meals). The BLT had so much potential, if it weren't for the bacon. Let's just say it didn't taste like bacon. I don't want to be too gross, but it honestly tasted the way that a barn or zoo smells. I really enjoyed the experience! All the workers were kind. We sat in the enclosed patio and it wasn't too cold even though outside was windy and rainy. I enjoyed looking out at the rainy train tracks. The food was also all tasty! Crab dip had a good crab flavor, not overly cream cheesy. And the sexy fries use a homemade hollendaise sauce which has a nice lemony flavor. Get them! The gumbo with shrimp was quite flavorful with a good spice. One of the better ones I have had in my time. My wife got the chicken sandwich and it looked like half a chicken on it. She loved it. They had a smash burger special which I got to go for my daughter and she devoured it. The slight vinegar zinfg in the sauce and roasted peppers were a match made in heaven. All it would have taken was a quick finger held up to let me know I'd have to wait but I didn't get that, including when he walked into the dining area to check on a table, then came back to the stand. I was happy with the ambiance sitting outside. This would be a good place rain or shine since the patio is covered and has heaters, but again, the service wasn't great. The food came out very slowly, I was here for more than an hour to get a drink, some hummus, and some tacos, and the waitress took a long time between visits back to my table. The food was pretty good. I had the Negroni, the Hummus, and the Fish Tacos. Everything I had was a positive experience, but the tacos were frustrating to eat. They put the fried fish on top of a giant pile of tomatoes, cabbage, etc. which helped keep it crisp, it as a result, it was very difficult to eat, every other bite being just vegetables or pushing the fish out of the tortilla. I have been wanting to try this place for years and recently decided that NYE would be a great day to try it since my boyfriend and I needed plans and the impression I got of the place was that it was supposed to be very 'hip', 'fun', and have good fare. The place was significantly smaller than I thought it would be. It was in an old train station and so there are many little rooms. I definitely recommend getting a reservation and all reservations are for 90 min increments. My boyfriend and I don't go to a ton of restaurants for dinner and this is definitely a type of place I would love to go to as it has a great cocktail list and more "elevated" American dishes. I wasn't sure what he was going to think but he absolutely loved it. He's not big into craft beers but did get one that he enjoyed. I got the Harvest moon cocktail which was equally pretty as it was delicious in a little coupe glass. We split the duck confit fries which were heavenly. The duck was super tender and I loved the gravy and added bacon. He went with the fried chicken sandwich and I got the salmon with asparagus risotto. I am still dreaming of the salmon. It had a perfect "crust" and was flavored deliciously. I could have done without smoked tomato chutney as it honestly just tasted like chili , and the flavors were a little abrasive next to the salmon and risotto. I definitely cannot wait to go back. There was ample parking too which was nice since it is in town. The bathroom could have been up-kept better as it wasn't the cleanest and out of tp. Our waitress was also very nice but seemed a little rushed. Maybe it was the holiday and it was busier than I could tell, we were seated alone in a room so that was also nice. I didn't realize it wasn't a real train track, that it wasn't in use. But it still looked cool. They were out of the one drink I wanted- the milk punch drink, which was disappointing. I've been here twice & both times I was traveling through town on my way to the city. I stopped here with my travel buddy. She ordered a' Vegetable Lo Mein' dish that we thought would be as described on the menu which was 'over Jasmine Rice with Vegetables.' Now, my travel buddy - i.e., my mom - is a hell of a cook. She can make anything & everything & everything is top notch! So when I go out with her I expect it to be top notch. Now I was really disappointed bc I wanted her to love the lunch & the experience; I wanted my Mom to enjoy our time out. And i wanted to enjoy it, too. Unfortunately, the food was terrible. The Lo Mein dish was 'soupy' - the Rice was overcooked, NO flavor - the whole dish was a disaster. We also ordered the Crab Dip as an app & the Pastrami Rueben as an entree. The Crab Dip wasn't bad, I would say that it was just 'okay.' You could see the oil just pooling on the top of it. The serving sizes were way off, too. This was suppose to be 'lunch,' not dinner - they were huge. Now. If we were typical people that had jobs that needed to be in & out for a 30 minute lunch then this is not how you should serve lunch. This is how you serve a 2 1/2 hour dinner or a three hour dinner. The pastrami sandwich was humongous. I could tell they spent a lot of time on the preparation of the meat & it was flavorful, but right when I looked at it, I thought to myself holy shit, now I have something for dinner! As for the service. The staff was really just okay. The host was a little disorganized, but he did know what he was doing & did give us a nice table outside, was pleasant & nice to us - which is all he needs to be - so 4 stars for him. I also watched him bus a couple tables which I thought was nice of him to do something that was out of the scope of his actual job, which is to just maintain the expeditious atmosphere of a lunch crowd. Btw - it took about 5 minutes to get seated in a restaurant that was 10% booked. The server was attentive & pleasant. She didn't do too much or tooo little - she did her job. One thing was she didn't offer us a bag for our 4 take-out containers, so I thought that was questionable. I give her 3 stars for service which means she only gets a 20% tip. We give 40% tips for anyone who does a good job. She did the bare minimum. Another small detail was there was no salt in the salt shaker. And the shaker itself was really dirty. These small details make a big difference when it comes to overall experience and quality of cleanliness and service. Think about going to places like Limeport Inn or Bolete. Or even James BBQ if you want BBQ. Northbound was dissapointing, to say the least & at $64 for two lunch dishes, one app & an ice tea - not worth it. We've heard from a few people that around this area that this place was good. Since we happened to be in the small town of Souderton we decided to stop in for lunch. We made a reservation (through Resy), since I hate waiting. Surprisingly the spots filled pretty quickly, from when my wife checked them to a half an hour later they were nearly booked a few hours out. That's good for them! I was surprised to see a smoker in the back of the restaurant with someone putting full racks of ribs on it. It's definitely a legit smoker, they have the wood stacked nearby and the ribs from where I was standing looked to be St. Louis style ribs. The restaurant is nice inside. It's clean, well laid out and has a good atmosphere. We got a table on the patio which is fully enclosed and heated. Due to covid, there were a lot of tables they weren't able to use, so we couldn't grab a seat by the bar (which I prefer). The staff were all very friendly and did a great job. They definitely work as a team which makes our experience better. I grabbed a Yards in a can, but they do have a pretty impressive drink list. This location is part of Boardroom Spirits so all of the alcohol was from BR. We came for the pizza, but their menu was more than just that. I'm not quite sure how to categorize it...it's not a pizza place, it's not a bbq place, it's not a burger place or a salad place; but they offer all of that. We ordered the Pulled Pork Nachos and the Detroit Style Pepperoni pizza. The nachos were okay, they honestly would've been better without the pork. The pork wasn't bad, it just didn't have flavor. If something is called "smoked", I want to taste smoke and with their offset smoker setup they can definitely bring some flavor. The cheese on the nachos was good as was the seasoning they put on their chips. The toppings aside from the pork were good too. I probably wouldn't order again if I returned. The pizza came out and looked great. I have high expectations for what people call Detroit style...I'm from Detroit and have been eating this stuff before the "foodie" community was even born. It looked good upon arrival, the cheese was crusted around the edge, the pepperoni had crisped up, the sauce was on top and there was grated parmesan (although more than I would usually expect. And finally, there was a chiffonade of basil...something I wasn't excited about as I find it can be pretty over powering and if bruised during prep it's way too over powering. Took a bite and I was intrigued, the dough was crips along the outside but pillowy soft in the crumb. The sauce was perfect, a little sweet but not much and it was room temp, not cold, not hot...perfect! But then the basil, it was delicate, not over powering as I expected and the flavor of it is exactly what a pizza like this needs to cut through the richness of it. The pizza is small, only four pieces so if you're hungry or feeding a group get a few. It's $14 which when you think about it, if you split it, you spent $7 on a very good lunch. Plus the smaller size means there's less to take home. Overall I would definitely return to Northbound. I want to try some of their cocktails, I want to try some of the other pizzas and some of their ribs. I'm hoping the nachos were a one off. But even if everything else on the menu was as underwhelming as the nachos...the pizza makes it worth the visit. read more

They charged me 5$ per person to book a reservation on Mother's Day, then discounted the bill instead of just issuing back the deposit. They discounted the bill 20$ but then charge me a processing fee on both the bill and the deposit. When I called to try to have it resolved, they said to go bug my friend for the deposit. Very tacky way of doing business, it's basically charging the folks who do show up for the people who make a reservation and don't show up. read more
