We had a perfect experience from start to finish! Brought my friend here for her birthday dinner last night (Tuesday) and everything was wonderful. The location and ambiance are great. Our server was friendly, attentive, and helpful! We got the old fashioned and cranberry mule - both were perfect! We shared the smoked salmon bruschetta appetizer and it was good. I wasn't sure what to expect with it, but it was tasty. She got the short rib grilled cheese and said it was perfect for what she was looking for. I got the po' boy and enjoyed every bite! Yummy spot with good drinks, good food, and good service! To start I had the tuna tartare and sexy fries. The tuna was super fresh and served with avocado, it was a great bite! The sexy fries are a bit of a let down, they're not bad but I'd skip them. The hollandaise ends up melting into a slimy coating on your fries, it'd likely be better served as a dip. For my meal I had the salmon which is served with a creamy risotto and sweet tomato sauce. Overall delicious though the tomato sauce is a bit on the sweet side. The drinks here are STRONG but in the best way! I enjoyed all of my drinks, the punch was yummy as was the pick your poison and their take on an espresso martini. Our server was awesome. From the owners of the Butcher and Barkeep, this place knocks it out of the park. It's a beautiful building located in downtown Souderton. One of the few places that serve alcohol. Due to their license they only serve PA wine, beer, and spirits, but no fear PA makes a lot of good stuff. We made a reservation online and due to limited capacity, they are limited table times. We were a table of 3 and had a 90 minute time limit. We were seated in the bar area. Noise levels are moderate, but not too noisy. I looked at the craft cocktail menu, unfortunately nothing appealed to me. There were a few bourbon/rye drinks, which like, but didn't give me the summer vibes. However, their wine selection was great. I ordered the sparkling wine from Pinnacle Ridge. I ordered the mahi mahi and asked if I could sub the rice for asparagus. They did for a $3 upcharge. I thought that was a bit spendy, but ordered it. The meal was outstanding. Perfectly cooked and well seasoned. If you have a larger appetite it may be a bit small, so order an appetizer or salad. But it was perfection for me. My husband had the salmon and I had a bite, fantastic. My FIL ordered the fried chicken sandwich and gobbled it right up. He also ordered dessert, which looked like a chocolate mousse. He loved it. Overall a great light meal accompanied by wonderful service. Looking forward to our next visit. read more

So disappointed with my visit here. I received a gift certificate for the holidays and was excited to try this place. From the outside it is really a fantastic revitalization of the old train station. But on the inside we were left wanting more. The northbound fries lacked any short rib. I ordered the wagyu burger and it was dry and overcooked even though I requested medium rare. I couldn't even finish it. The sea bass special that my dining companion ordered was good and the only saving grace. We were seated at some tables outside on the heated patio on plastic tables that were not level and shoved together haphazardly. Not a great atmosphere. The seats were chilly and cheap. First time visit to this biz, we're in Souderton about once a week. Staff and service was top notch. Good ambience. Order pulled pork nachos. First time out chips were stale, sent it back. No problems, got another order. Much better. When we worked through the plate however the crema and such made a soup in the bottom of the dish, rendering all remaining chips like soggy corn flakes. Northbound is butcher and the barkeep's sister location. If you're looking for a solid meal this is a good place to go. They don't really dive outside the box with their dishes, but you can expect great food with a balanced flavor. Everything's well seasoned or flavored and the sandwiches and burgers don't fall apart in your hand, which sounds like it should be obvious but you'd be surprised. The food typically comes out fast, we did have one occasion where it took a good half hour to be served, but that isn't the server's fault or the kitchen's it was really really busy and everyone in the restaurant was ordering things that had to be baked. What a great way to ruin a special evening. Happy Birthday to my wife who would choose a different restaurant if we could redo this evening again. And I 100% agree with her. This evening felt like a Seinfeld episode because they do not quite understand what a reservation means. The special request comment section is useless as they do not read it or honor little requests like avoiding seating us in a high-traffic area. The biggest problem is the service. The service is so horrible that it reminded us why we have not been to Northbound in months as this is not the first time they messed up a special occasion with piss poor service. We were seated and saw what was to be our waitress walk by us at least 5 times to other tables, not even stopping by to say she will be with us shortly. About 30 minutes after our reserved time they finally brought us water and took our order. While the kitchen appears to be on point and food was served in a reasonable amount of time, our waitress was pretty much nowhere to be found. After appetizers our cups were empty and throughout the night they never were to be full again. Someone from the kitchen served us our appetizers and then our entrees but just dropped off the food. We waited for the waitress to stop by as we needed more napkins, additional silverware, and hot sauce. We waited, and waited and waited but you can only wait so long before you just give up. Our waitress stopped by well after we had finished our meal but at this point, we just wanted the check. We saw our waitress for the 3rd and final time that evening when she gave us the bill. It is so sad that Northbound cannot get their act together as we are silently rooting for them to do a good job. The food is good but we are so turned off by the bad service time and time again that it literally prevents us from even considering them as an option. After a few months, we figure let's give them a second or third chance and again, and again they blow it. I am not even sure if we will give them another chance. Collaboration between Harleysville Butcher & Barkeep owners and Boardroom Spirits in Lansdale owners. Northbound, like Butcher & Barkeep is no reservations. So you may have to wait but they have a great bar area and outdoor waiting on nice evenings. We were greeted by friendly hostess and sat at the bar for 10 minutes until our table was ready. We had the red blend wine - oaky and nice. The Northbound cocktail - champagne, elderflower liquor, lemon & basil. The House Cabernet - smooth and nice. Several of the spirits are "Northbound" customized for this location by Boardroom Spirits. Our service was excellent some familiar faces from our days at the Local. Now about the food...I was very impressed. We had the French Onion Soup - veal based stock with creamy Gouda...delicious. The House Salad - fresh greens,spicy walnuts, apple and shaved cheese. I had the Salmon (which is similar to the way the Butcher & Barkeep makes it ) - crispy top and flaky inside. My sis had the chicken thigh sandwich and I stole a bite...wow!! Crispy chicken, blue cheese sauce, crunchy pickles on a potato roll...silly good. Hubby had the fettuccine. All pasta is homemade in house. All items reasonably priced. Overall a fantastic experience. I have a feeling it is going to be packed all the time so plan wisely. Getting a little worried...I used to love coming here for a long time. The atmosphere was relaxing at the bar, the menu was consistently reinvented and fresh, the cocktails were creative, and I was always happy when I left. Now, even though the bartender is working like a mad woman and is lovely, the food quality & vibe is off. The portions are different for the cost, the food is just ok ish and warm ish, it is hard to catch someone's eye for assistance, and the pace is off. Got all checked in and waited. we were a party of three but they assumed that it was a party of two. when called to go sit they realized it was a party of three, the held us back for a party of two which they sat. As time passed, we were also being passed. New party's showed up and those parties sat. we continued to wait till 6:30 when we decided to get up and leave. when leaving we noticed the host with pink laughing at us. would recommend if you like waiting, wouldn't recommend for a birthday dinner that got ruined. read more

Whoa Nellie ! Fiancé and I have dined here a few times and always were very pleased. We had lunch today and they exceeded all our expectations. Our server Liz was a gem. New Manager Amanda came to see us and was a perfect host. Started with the Spiced Apple Old Fashioned which was so good I had another. Tried the Funghi pizza with wild mushrooms and spinach. I was blown away. Fiancé said her Gumbo was on par with New Orleans best. Add the shrimp. Wow! Finished off with the fresh made bread pudding. Delish. All in all a fabulous time.
