    Roast beef sandwich
    Kate F.

This was our first visit to Stray Dog Tavern since it changed hands from Justin's. We had lunch here on a Tuesday afternoon so the restaurant and bar were almost empty. We were seated promptly and got menus quickly. The menu is somewhat heavy food-wise, so don't come here looking for a light lunch. My husband got a roast beef sandwich. Generous portion, with a really tasty side Caesar salad. He said the beef was good, but wasn't very warm. I had the crab Mac and cheese. It was delicious, but a very small portion for $19, considering there was 1 piece of lump crab in the whole dish. Again, flavor was good, it was well cooked and seasoned, but not enough crab for the price. It doesn't look like much has been done with the restaurant since it changed hands. The have a lot of dog decor, but overall it still feels very dark and dated. It seems like there is an opportunity to brighten things up and modernize a bit more than they have. Great beer selection, and quality food. My better half enjoyed the shepherds pie, while I opted for the brussel sprouts au gratin Which could have been cooked a little longer, (very hard) and I also had the fish and chips that were awesome. And you can bring your four legged k-9 friends to keep you company while you dine at their outdoor seating area. Can't wait to come back and try more of their offerings. I almost forgot, they have great beer, wine and cocktail offerings as well. I will return.

This is the second time I have tried the Stray Dog. Both times it was by default, once because they were the only place we could find with live music, and this time because they were the only place open on a Monday! I was very impressed both times with the food. First time we shared a flatbread and it was delicious! This time we hit upon happy hour and tried a bunch of different apps and shared one meal. Everything we tried was great! The prices were nice because of the happy hour deals. And we all enjoyed the ambiance. We were a little cold, near a window, but it was a cold day. Both times the service was a little slower than we would have liked, but all in all, a nice place with great hours and live music every weekend! Can't ask for more than that!

I don't know how there arent any pictures of their boneless chicken wings.. because my husband and I can't stop thinking about them. Unfortunately we live an hour and a half away but we will definitely be back to try more flavors. We did also get the deviled eggs, personally they needed less filling but still delicious.

Every day (all 7 of them) they have a happy hour menu that includes Buck a Shuck oysters and they are amazing. Bartenders are friendly, the regulars are chatty. They regularly run out of specific drinks which can be a bummer if you are picky. They keep the temp pretty warm inside. The pizza is very unique, and amazing. Thick crust and an amazing sauce.

Love Stray Dog! From the vibe, the people, yummy food, and the chill atmosphere-it's a great experience all around. Just had the tomato pie for the first time and it was great! Just enough crunch for the crust but also light and airy base with a touch of olive oil

Walking in the door you are greeted by a warm and cozy establishment, almost like a cottage feel. The staff are warm and welcoming as they find a seat which you are interested in, restaurant, bar or bar table. Soon after being seated you are greeted by your waiter or waitress whom requests your drink order. In our case we were very interested in their extensive draft list but had several questions. Josh who was our fantastic waiter walked us through the draft menu offering us recommendations based on previous guests; being very patient in the process as we took some time to decide. After that they were very efficient with procuring our drinks and taking our first and second course orders. The food was out of this world, surpassing our expectations being a small tavern on the outskirts of a large city! This food was out of this world. French inspired cuisine with a flair of local decadence, I am serious when I tell you this food will not disappoint. I highly recommend the smoked Gouda Mac and cheese and mushroom, Gouda pizza, and seared tuna. These dishes were large in portion while being reasonable in price. Additionally the short rib and beef tips were fantastic main courses but the pot pie was a close 3rd with the apple dumplings and the s'more's tart being my favorite desserts! Then there was Karla our fabulous bartender and mixologist who provided our flight of beers perfectly labeled for the tasting and after drink cocktails with the most beautiful garnishes. Each drink was hand crafted with the most perfect touch to signify that there had been much care and thought delivered into the formulation. Overall, this establishment far surpassed my initial expectations and may be one of my new favorited spots in the area!

BEST french onion I've ever had. Love the bar scene inside and service was great! Ruben was really different with the pastrami but so delicious!

Nice place and good music but the staff is terrible. Totally ignored me in front of the bar register.

Sometimes a funeral may be better. Go to the Dutch or anywhere else but if you like bad service and lackluster time you found your place.

They got an amazing menu with vegetarian as in portobello mushrooms, but they also have grilled or chopped chicken, which is pretty cool. How, what, why It is a dry steak, not burnt. Really good! p. s. ( some real Philly cheesesteaks make sure it is actually burnt just slightly on the edges to get that super grilled taste. While others are so wet, it soaks through the bun and you can't even pick it up. And if you take it on a trip for 10 minutes...Inedible. Did you know that a ' real steak' is not made w oil ; but spots of water? That's because the fat on it should be good enough in balance that it doesn't stick.) Taste, smell, satisfaction It is very juicy and not oily, (which in my opinion goes through the bun when you take it out, such as when you go to Henry Avenue, or a couple local places) nope. No wet roll. Awesome and great to take for later and re-warm without it getting all screwed up. Idea for goin' South Like taking 50 of them down to Virginia or Tennessee. In a cooler. That would work. My pics I start with just a steak, sesame roll fried onions. I added two kinds of Parmesan, a touch of red pepper, salt, and yes, tomato sauce. Sorry I was raised on that. Ketchup is too sweet for me. Litmus test If you eat a steak plain, it'll really tell you how good it is. How much gristle is in it etc. This had NO PERCEPTION OF GRISTLE. NICE! Rating This was excellent. Prime protein, nice roll - Lisco's of course - well done. So you are prepared; While I will eat 1/2 of a sandwich and be very satisfied, the rolls are smaller. And the price of ALL steaks is higher. You know how your ice cream is shrunk? I actually didn't know my wife pointed out to me. Well, the rolls have shrunk. So sandwiches for four people will cost a minimum of $65 with tip. Get outside. It's worth it your kids will love it. I hope to be there. Thanks for a great sandwich.

It's lunch and dinner with a pretty small menu but the options are all delicious sounding! They also have specials as well. It was nice to see the same chef and some of the same staff when we went. There's only a handful of tables maybe 10 or so and then there is a counter at the windows. They had a nice mural as well as a nice neon sign. The whole design is clean and simple. It's one of the establishments inside "The Vault Town Center" which is a repurposed bank housing several businesses and eateries. The staff was super nice our waitress was very sweet. We went with one of their "handhelds" and one of their "steaks". The double cheese meatball parm and the boomer steak. The boomer steak was my favorite of the two because it had a really great flavor profile between the ribeye, the steakhouse onion white cheddar, mushrooms and crispy onions- great texture and taste! The meatball was also really good. Very hearty sized meatballs on a garlic bread roll with provolone and whipped ricotta. I didn't really taste much of the garlic flavor but I really enjoyed the ricotta on the sandwich. The portions were decent. I was full but not overly stuffed. Both of our sandwiches came with chips but you could upgrade to fries - which were super thin and crispy. I might upgrade next time ! Overall I'm excited for this location and to get a taste of Sammy's beyond their usual "brunch" Hours. Cannot wait to come back and to see what else they do !
