My father-in-law celebrated his birthday last night. The Eagles game was on so 50 cents a wing, are you kidding me? We sampled all of the wings, the calamari, the she-crab soup, the fish and chips. The queen prime rib is such a good deal and so tender! Kids eat free on Sunday and their portions are adult sized! Both kids will have dinner later this week. Jaeda was out waitress. She is so gracious and sweet and professional; she really helped make the event better. She put our cake in the fridge so it would be ready when we sang to my father-in-law. Poppy's has no replaced PJ Whelihan's as our local "go-to" wing place in Hatfield. It's truly a special place and the food is amazing. Give it a try! read more

My family took me for my 74th Birthday to Poppy's Tavern, in Hatfield, PA. This was my first visit and I was very impressed with the quality of the food and moderate Prices. Being a Sunday evening it wasn't too crowded, and our Waitress "Jaeda" delivered excellent service, This Tavern had such a wide variety of pub food and Special Prime Rib entrees on the weekend. This was my choice for the evening, I ordered the Queen cut that was seasoned perfectly and extremely tender and tasty, To serve it that put a nice sear on the Prime Rib that made the taste soar on the flavor scale, This entree included Soup, Potato option and a vegetable, All cooked perfectly, My Grandchildren had the Chicken Finger platter, and The Burger platter from the kids menu, It was huge (Kids eat free on Sunday) their portions were large enough to satisfy any adult. the rest of the family enjoyed .50 cent wings during Game time when the Eagles are playing. We tried four different sauces and the wings were crispy, juicy and packed with flavor. We also had, Fish & Chips, Crispy and moist filets of COD, then we tried the calamari that was tender and flavorful, My Daughter had brought a birthday and Jaeda promptly offered to store it in the refrigerator until dinner was over. Then she brought out plates and cutlery for us to enjoy the birthday cake. They have outdoor dining and plenty of TV's to watch the game. overall it was a great dining experience with great food and excellent service. We just had dinner here Friday night for the prime rib. We are always pleased with anything we have ordered in the past. This was probably our 9th visit. I was so looking forward to the prime rib. When it came out I was a little disappointed. The meat was not seared very long if at all. And, it was not seasoned at all. But, it was cooked to my request of medium rare. In my opinion and experience the grill that it was cooked on could be hotter to create that 'seasoned' sear. Other than that the experience was its usual greatness. Local pub, local people. Everyone having a good time. The dining room is always clean and the employees are always very friendly. From the moment you walk in you are greeted with a smile. Keep up the good work. My husband had the Southern Comfort Bowl and I had the Salmon. My Salmon was cooked right but was saturated with what they call lemon dill sauce. I couldn't taste either the lemon nor the dill. The green beans were very overcooked and the broccoli was just thrown on the plate. My husband liked the pulled pork. The mac and cheese looked like Kraft and again the green beans were overcooked. The corn bread was stale. Our server was new but very attentive. The place is cute and clean. read more

Last night we went to Poppy's Tavern in Hatfield -- our second visit to this local spot. The staff is very friendly, and the place definitely has that comfortable "locals' bar" vibe. They offer a nice selection of local beers on tap along with all the traditional favorites. The soup special of the day was a seafood chowder, which I tried in a small bowl. It was delicious and packed with crab meat -- I didn't notice much else in terms of seafood, but there was plenty of crab in every bite. For my main dish, I ordered the Cowboy Burger medium rare, though it came out closer to medium. The roll tasted a little stale, and while you could pick up a bit of char from the grill, it wasn't consistent throughout. I upgraded from chips to fries; they were fine, flavorful enough, but thinner like McDonald's fries -- I personally prefer a thicker, meatier fry. My girlfriend ordered the Kiddlehopper Burger, a half-pound burger topped with beer cheese, sauerkraut, bacon, and caramelized onions on a pretzel bun with a side of stone ground mustard. She ordered it well done and really enjoyed it -- messy, but flavorful. However, she mentioned not tasting much (if any) of the mustard, which is usually noticeable for its texture and tang. Overall, Poppy's Tavern is a great neighborhood bar with friendly people and good food. While there were a few small misses, the experience was enjoyable, and we'll definitely be back. read more

So my wife and I went here for the first time last night for dinner. There was no wait. Our waitress was excellent, providing us with many great dinner recommendations as well as the recent history of this restaurant and GREAT service. My wife had the Shepherd's Pie and she thought it was really good. I had the Italian Roast Pork Sandwich and while it was pretty good, it seemed light on the Roast Pork when compared to the norm. The Roll was good as was the dipping Aujus. Also, I ordered a side of Roasted Hot Peppers and they were not hot and barely roasted; may be it was green pepper, but It still tasted good and I will definitely give them a second try. read more

We sat at the bar tonight a recieved the worst service. The bartender was clueless. The couple next to us left brcause he never came back to take their food order. The other couple next to us waited 10 minutes for their drinks afer ordering them. We waited 25 minutes for our food, a hamburger and small salad. I asked for ketsup and mustard and he brings me an empty ketsup and no mustard. We won't be back and neither will the people who never got the chance to place their food order. The food is great! The menu has a very nice variety of hand held sandwiches as well as delicious entrees! The drink are very well made and priced. First time here. They seemed understaffed. We ordered two appetizers and dinners. The wrong salad came out first. They took it back and brought a Caesar salad that had droopy lettuce and no cheese. Worst salad I ever saw! Wings were ok. Nachos came out about 15 minutes after wings. They were cold and soggy. The chicken on the nachos was dry and tasteless. I ordered a Philly cheese steak. The cost was $12. And I wanted it hoagie style so added lettuce, mayo and onions. They charges extra, no biggie. Total came out to 14 approx. please see the pic of the food and let me know if the amount paid is worth the quantity of meat in sandwich. Bartender was extremely rude. Did not remember to place food order and had to be reminded an hour later when there was no other food coming out of kitchen. After reminded bartender contributed to give attitude. Food did not come out good when it finally did an hour and a half later after it was ordered. Would not recommend or go back.
