We stopped by on our way back to Mississippi from Syracuse, New York to avoid a rain storm. The waitress/bartender was friendly and very helpful. She made a great blueberry lemonade cocktail from their summer menu. My husband and I tried the steak & cheese fries, some wings, and a cauliflower pizza. All the food tasted great! I've never been to this bar before but everyone raves about the pizza so I thought I'd try it. We placed an order over the phone for takeout on a Saturday night around 7:00. The expected wait time like maybe 30 minutes and it was ready when we came to pick it up. The bar is VERY small, there's no doubt that this is just a hole in the wall, neighborhood bar, you could tell this is a tight-knit community in here, because when we walked in, everyone was staring at us. The bartender who brought us out our food seemed...off. She was pleasant but since we weren't paying customers who would be sticking around, we didn't exist to her. When we brought the food home, I was initially disappointed in the size of the pizzas. They were very small, especially for the price they are, I could probably pay the same and get more food elsewhere. The basic sauce tray was just OK. The sweet sauce tray was TOO SWEET. SO strange, this was almost like a dessert pizza, even the dough seemed sweet. HOWEVER, the tastes grew on me. And the size was deceiving because I found myself getting full after a few slices. Would I return? A solid maybe. I would stay for drinks and maybe order a pizza for myself and others to share, because these trays are meant FOR THE BAR, not meant to be enjoyed at home. The 1905 Tavern is such a lively establishment! I ordered takeout from there the other day after trying their pizza at a friend's house and was obsessed. The pizza was zesty and unique compared to other slices I've had in the area and when I asked what it was called and where it was from, I was told it was "The Trainwreck" from The 1905 Tavern, a place that I have heard about before but never gone to, and that slice instantly made me order their food the next day. They answered the phone instantly and I placed an order for two trays: one plain and one trainwreck. The employee asked me if I wanted everything on it and answered informatively everything that was on it when questioned. The customer service was absolutely lovely, quick, and efficient without feeling r The food was finished and ready for pickup in a timely manner of 20 minutes and my family and I dug in as soon as I came back home. The Trainwreck, now tasting it fresh, was even better than I remember. The combination of flavors between the crisp pepperoni and their shaved sirloin steak along with the tray's signature sauce, whiz, and sprinkling of french fries is what makes it unique and truly a hidden gem in the area. A slice everyone should try at least once. It was crispy, cheesy, and meaty with a softly toasted crust giving an indulgent mouthfeel of what a good night in is supposed to be. The plain tray was good too! Simple yet hits the spot for a solid, plain cheese slice of pizza. The simplicity of it allows the ingredients to shine through from the slightly sweet acidic tomato sauce to the melty, broiled on cheese. After scouring their social media for what else looks good to order for my next trip, I noticed that they hold a good amount of events. I admire how community based they are and I look forward to coming again with some friends for a good night out or even takeout for an indulgent night in. My friends and I were doing a pizza/wing tour of the area and this was our middle stop. The service was excellent, and the bartenders were so nice. They were happy to give us wing suggestions and the dry rubbed porketta wings were excellent, especially since I normally don't like dry rubs, but this was still nice and juicy and not too dried out. Nothing was very hot, which was fine, and we were too full to try the pizza. It was kind of empty for a saturday night, but we were there pretty early and the walls and atmosphere were definitely fun. read more

When asked why this unaccepted wait time, server advised that the cook was training 3 new cooks. Ok.. why would train 3 on a Saturday night? Plus, no cards. Only cash resturant. read more

Ok for a dive...no this is not fantastic. This is a local place appropriate for just local people. No parking. The 1905 pizza is best after it settles a few. The cheese amount is not what we're use to.The train wreck pizza is good but sticks to the teeth. Not fantastic. Wings are great with favorites being Escobar ranch and ragin Cajun blue balls. The wings already are doubled fried. Do not ask for double fried. For wing night over charging for things like celery that come with an order or even blue cheese is crazy. We ordered multiple sauces and for 2oz for 1.99 each is insane. The 1 waitress worked her ass off dealing with everyone here. For salary they can have anyone here running kitchen for her. She needs 1 more person. The place itself is ok. Vibe initially was weird older place but it is ok. Bathroom is not the cleanest. Beer options aren't the greatest as it seems like it caters to locals. Funny thing is the people after us came asking for the same beers and they didn't have it. Also all the wings are spicy.
