Scranton is not known to be a foodie town or have much of a beer scene either and my visit to Voodoo Brewing proved that. We walked in on a Friday night to the bar and while it wasn't crowded up there we sat for awhile without being greeted or acknowledged. Finally, someone did stop to give us menus and take our orders. The beers are listed with no prices. I went with the Issa IPA which was good. I also ordered the bbq brisket Mac n cheese. My husband ordered wings but to get more than one sauce you have to do two orders of six instead of ordering the dozen. They brought out my order fast and. I was disappointed they didn't bring our food out together and placed my utensils on the bar with no napkin underneath it. Just the bare bar. My husband's wings came out at least 10-15 minutes later. So I tried to eat the Mac n cheese which wasn't good. It was very one note and basically a bowl of salt. I barely made a dent. It basically looked just like my photo when I was done. Nobody bothered to ask me if anything was wrong or if I liked it or anything. The girl just took it away as I'd it was an empty plate. Every time we wanted to order a beer. I had to flag some one down. When I asked the price of the beers we were having, I was told they were different prices. I had to prompt her to find out what those prices were. Cool place to visit. When you walk in you can pick any table because you don't actually have a specific server. I don't mind ordering on my phone by scanning the QR code on the table. That way you don't have to wait for someone, you order when you want and pay when you're finished. The prices are visible and they have whatever is out of stock grayed out. The drinks and food came out quickly. I was surprised that they weren't slammed for a Saturday evening. I'm also surprised that the latest they are opened on weekends is 9pm. The beers are pricey compared to other local places for a 13oz tulip glass. I can get the same guest beer on tap at a few other places for either less $ or the same price, but for 16oz. That's the reason for 4 stars. It wouldn't be my first choice for food and drinks, but it's definitely an option. We spent $70 for one burger, one fried pierogi appetizer and 4 13oz beers. The Bad - nothing really Ambiance: The Good - This place is basically the definition of a brewpub. If you want a place to drink some finely crafted brews this is the place for you. The Bad - this place is basically the definition of a brewpub. If you enjoy shouting at your friends and saying "HUH?" to them a ton, the loud music will ensure you get the experience you want. Other thoughts: This place was clean which was a huge plus. The outdoor seating was present but seemed somewhat limited compared to the inside seating, which makes sense given the cold winters and hot summers in Scranton. Drinks: The Good - I very much enjoyed my lager and my wife had a cider that she too enjoyed. They had a large selection of beer, cider, and cocktails to meet the needs of most folks. Often it's tough to go to breweries with non beer drinkers but not here. The Bad - Nothing bad to say! 3 star rating explained: Some of the food was awesome, I really enjoyed the beer. I liked the hassle free checkout system. While in Scranton for the day we decided to stop in here and give it a try. From the get go it was a very odd setup of a restaurant. The menu was digital but didn't list everything and was kind of confusing. I'm a millennial and used to technology but was not a fan. We also saw another family walk out shortly after sitting down and viewing the menu. I will say that they were helpful when we did have questions regarding allergens. The chef himself came out & answered/ double checked items. You ordered from your phone but then silverware and water wasn't delivered to the table you had to walk all the way to the front to get it. But then the food & other refills are brought by what I think were wait staff. Worst $61 we've spent in a long time. They don't have table service, so good luck getting what you order. We ordered drinks and waited half an hour to get one of them, I had to go to the bar and ask for it. We also didn't receive the add-ons to our meal that I paid for. You can't choose a temperature for the burger, so I got a hockey puck with bland bacon jam that tasted like bacon bits. Remember the cheap fake salad crumbles? It just tasted like burning. Drinks were good, however. The lacto-cooler was actually awesome, and once my girlfriend finally got her strawberry mojito, it was also incredible. It has a hipster vibe, music was pretty good. Wide open warehouse feel. Maybe stick to just being a bar? If you plan on paying $10 a beer, then by all means come by. My boyfriend and I each got a burger and 2 beers each and our bill was $120. This is outrageous compared to any other brewing company I've been to. My 2 beers were more than my meal and I just got your plain old brewery beer. Plus, half of the beers they serve aren't even their own. There are ones on the menu from another local brewery, other breweries, and even included Modelo. Why would I want to go to a "local brewery" and pay $10 for a Modelo? Plus, you couldn't get an appetizer for less than $12-16. The food was decent besides the price, but definitely don't order the fried brussel sprouts unless you want to chew on an extremely over-fried vegetable. And they have no business making mussels, horrendously bad and some rotten ones in the bowl. This with South Side Seafood just blocks away. Service a bit awkward but not bad. very nice in the inside. came wednesday. lots of people inside. have to scan the table for your menu and order and pay from the app. the menu is posted on the wall. friend said food was good. today we walked in and most food on the menu was "out of stock". we were there for food and not for drinks. so we left. saw the pretzel on another table which looks like a cobra on a platter. it's huge! people getting drinks. will try again a different day and hope they stock up on their food. read more

This has started to become a favorite place to go with friends and family. It is a pretty open space, so it can work for big or small groups, plus they have board games available to help past the time. Ordering and paying is done via a QR code on the table (so make sure to bring a phone with enough battery life to scan a code, browse, order, and pay), but it has been a lifesaver when we've gone with kids, and need to feed them asap, while the rest of us figure out what we want. I have gotten their burgers and fries the past couple of times, and it has been delicious. The nachos are HUGE, and the brussel sprouts were a pleasant surprise. They have a rotating selection of drafts, plus they carry some other breweries beers (like Tired Hands) which was really nice. I wanted to Love it, but the tables were dirty and sticky, as well as being 1/2 assed pallets on Wooden legs too short , so they added weird plastic pucks to bottoms. I mean I know many industrial or rustic places that pull it off in a big way, this isn't it. It is just the cheapest stuff they can throw together. The beer was good, so that's the reason for 2. Very interesting place. In a bit of a weird spot in Scranton, but nothing really bad to say. There isn't traditional service, you scan a QR code and order online and the food is brought to you. We didn't have any issues with it, but even as a younger person, I think I'd just prefer to have normal service. You also get your own water and takeout boxes, which is convenient because you don't need to rely on a waiter but is just kinda weird, just something you'd have to get used to I guess. The environment was fun and the food was good but 2/3 of the items I ordered came out 50 minutes after ordering because they forgot about it and my card was overcharged by $40 from the amount I closed on the tab. Their phones don't work so I had to go back in person to see why I was overcharged - they said a lot of people come in to ask about it and that they would be upset about it too if it happened to them. They overcharge you and it apparently autocorrects in your account but they say to come back in person to tell them if it doesn't correct itself.
