A chain restaurant that I'm sure countless people have been to before. Here, in Dickson City you're obligated to get to the restaurant at an earlier time than normal dining because this place will be absolutely out of control packed to the gills and the wait time will be abysmal. Took wifey here one day for a steak as my change in diet doesn't allow for the consumption of it anymore. We got there at 4:30pm and got a table really quick which was strange. The wait staff was friendly and warm which considering the volume of diners these people serve was really welcoming. Ticket times for the food was as you would expect, a little wait, but not a lot. Wifey ordered a filet medium with sides. Her filet came at the requested temperature. (better be at a steak house lol). I ordered the fish and chips since Roadhouse uses soybean oil to fry food in. The fish was cornmeal crusted catfish. That was exciting, catfish might be something people stray from due to fattiness and maybe muddy flavor. Overall, the meals were good. Comes with bread too. The prices weren't too bad, not too crazy for steak as you'd think. By the time we left we couldn't leave, too many people in the foyer blocking the door lol. We had to snake our way out. In town for a wedding and staying at the frightening Days Inn down the street, we decided to leave the hotel in search of a nice meal to distract us from our accommodations. We were greeted warmly and sat quickly. The restaurant's atmosphere was inviting and lively, but not too chaotic or loud. Our two big steaks, extra shrimp, sides galore, and four strong drinks totaled to $90 pre-tip. For the quality, service, and amount of food-- you can't beat that. This was my first time ever eating at a Texas Roadhouse; Based on my experience at this one, I'm so looking forward to the next time I get to eat there again. Staff is on it, food is great, but it is always so so busy and they aren't properly set up for the community they are serving. Everytime I've been, it's been nothing short of wonderful. My steak is always cooked perfectly, and in the rare instances over the years that something was not right, our server has been happy to make it right. Years back they moved to a new and larger location, but it still seems to be too small and understaffed. No matter what time you go, it's an hour plus wait with very limited seating at the bar. Once you get in, the meal is great, but prepare for an at least 2.5 hour adventure. read more

I usually don't like chain restaurants but my youngest son got a bookmark from the library sponsored by Texas Roadhouse. He read the books and won a free kids meal. I was worried about my oldest son who has severe autism. We went together as a family because my husband pushes us out of comfort zones and that's important. Our eldest son loved the rolls and he behaved very well. We all loved the food and attentive service. We went again last week but our eldest boy had devoured an entire package of Hawaiian rolls but we had already promised we would go and so we did. Our eldest held on for as long as he could but went into sensory overload. We could see a meltdown was about to happen. My husband took him out to the car while I packed up our meal. Evan our waiter was amazing. A manager came over too to ask if there was anything she could do. The staff were extremely kind. Me, my wife, and my buddy clarence went here for dinner a couple nights ago. The food and staff were amazing! The customers not so much. There was a child sitting behind me and he would not stop harassing my wife. He kept yanking at my wife's hair because it interested him. Little did he know she had cancer and her wig came all the way off on the spot. Then the child broke down crying and my wife got blamed. Went to this Texas Roadhouse for the first time and man I'm hooked! Greeted promptly by smiling faces and sat at a bar booth. Waitress was right there getting us our ice cold drinks. I had the 16oz steak with mushrooms and onions (it was HUGE!) and my dining partner had the rack of ribs. The steak was cooked perfectly and was melt in your mouth tender and delishous! I got the ceasar salad and baked potato with it. I loved how the salad and the salad bowl were ice cold. Refreshing on a hot day. My dining partner loved his ribs and he said the chili he ordered was amazing also. I never tried Texas Roadhouse before and was looking forward to the opportunity to try these rolls I heard so much about. When I arrived I parked in their lot. I walked into a packed house. I asked if I could sit at the bar and I found an area where I could sit. Frankie was the bartender and she was super busy and seemed super rushed. I ordered wine for the night which was good. For food I went with the shrimp skewers, rice, mashed potatoes and corn. It took a while for it to come out so I tried the rolls in the mean time. They were just ok. This is now my 3rd time here and since I always stay at the Holiday Inn next door this is a given for dinner. But now the third time was just the same as the prior two trips. They always overcook my dang orders. First time here I had the 20oz ribeye then the shrimp & ribeye & now the chops and dang every time there horribly over cooked to the point that there like chewing leather. I don't get it because this isn't something that happens at other TR locations across the country that I frequent. Place is usually great. I would say tonight was just a bad night. Our server was terrible. As I'm speaking to him mid sentence turns around and takes care of another customer and never brings my request. But most experiences here are good. I would've talked to manager but they didn't show up to tables like normal either. Also we call ahead a lot. Get a message to come in and when you get there it's another 15+ min. We decided to stop for a quick lunch. We checked in at the hostess stand. The host said that it would be a 5-10 minute wait and we should wait inside our car. They would text us when our table was ready. I was ok with that except for there were no less than 15-20 people waiting in the vestibule seated on their benches. Nevertheless we went back to the car and within 2-3 minutes we received a text stating to quickly return to the host stand. I ordered the Smothered Chicken for lunch. It is a grilled chicken breast topped with mushrooms and onions and either melted cheese or some kind of gravy. I chose the cheese. It also came with two sides. I chose the fresh vegetables and a cup of chili. My dining companions chose the Steak Kabobs and the kid's steak bites. The chili is really very good. It's topped with the right amount of shredded cheddar cheese and a scant amount of red onion. I was pleasantly surprised by the Smothered Chicken. It was incredibly juicy and tender. It didn't taste like some frozen meal that is usually served at fast casual chain restaurants. I would order this again but it doesn't need the cheese. The kid's Steak Bites are always a big hit. The big miss was the Steak Kabob. The marinade had a terrible flavor and the presentation was terrible. Our server was very polite and quick. She was there anytime we needed something. Up here in Dickson City (outside Scranton PA) visiting my dad for the weekend. Really like this place. The steaks are fantastic. Always busy, and tonight was no different. The wait was 60-70 minutes. Oh-boy. We were early (5pm) so we decided to tough it out. Ate WAY too many peanuts waiting. While waiting we saw many people get seated that came after us. See my TIP for this place. Anyway, got seated. Had a 12oz NY Stirp, and my dad had a 16oz Sirloin. Now my dad is not shy about spending my money. He got it loaded, and 2 sides, extra bread. He eats 1/2 and asks for a "doggie bag". I told him it's a "box", but you can't tell a retired Army Master Sergeant anything. Service was very good. The hot rolls with butter they bring to every table are deliiiiish. It was hard for me not to eat a third roll. Talk about carb overload. The menu has everything. I ended up getting the pulled pork sandwich and substituted corn in place of the steak fries. The pulled pork sandwich was delish, the corn was smothered in pepper and was sodium overload. The last handful of times we ate here have not met the standard we have come to expect from Texas Roadhouse. Recent reviews have thoroughly highlighted problems, so I'll be brief. A couple notable complaints, pulled from our past few visits: 1. Ribs that had the consistency off beef jerky. 2. "Ribeye" that was more like London broil in both consistency and flavor. 3. Exceptionally dry chicken. The one complaint I could make about every visit: The manager asked if everything came out okay but walked away in 0.25 seconds before I could get a word out.
