Love going to Kevin's! The service has always been excellent, and the food and drink options superb. To some, the prices might seem intimidating, but you truly do get the value of the price, both in quality and quantity. I've never left here remotely hungry, and I'm a big guy lol. We do save Kevin's for special occasions, but look forward to it every time!

We visited for date night on a Saturday. We had reservations, which I do recommend as the place was pretty busy. I love the brick and the industrial chic feel of this place. It's tucked away behind the Fidelity bank on Wyoming Avenue but not hard to find. Parking in front is limited; however, there is more parking in the back. The food was amazing! I had the veal scallopini that was topped with spicy peppers, capers, mushrooms and a white wine sauce the flavors came together so well! My fiancé had the salmon, which he loved. The drinks were unique and very tasty. The vanilla bean cheesecake and creme brulee for dessert were so creamy and easily some of the best I've had. Highly recommend!!

This is an update to my previous review of Kevin's. Two words... Very Disappointed. I have previously said that Kevin's was hands down the best restaurant in the area. I have truly loved this place. Things have seemed to change and not for the better. We haven't been in for a while due to COVID and we were really looking forward to a good meal. I was initially impressed by the procedures they took for COVID safety. Very clean and excellent social distancing. Then came the meal... I must first say, the oysters were outstanding and we were very happy. The restaurant was clean and not busy at all. We went to dinner around five so as to avoid any dinner crowd. My wife order the grouper special and I ordered the burger. I asked to have it cooked closer to the well side as I don't care for lightly cooked ground beef, regardless of the quality of the beef. It came medium rare. Wasn't what I asked for but I ate it anyway without a word. (Fries were great.) We never send things back...until now My wife's grouper special came very undercooked. She doesn't normally send anything back, ever. However, given the price, I insisted that she ask to have it done to a more appropriate temperature. We asked kindly and with much humility explaining that it wasn't the chef's fault. When it came back the grouper had burnt pieces and was placed back on top of the other items of the dish that were now cold. Same fish on the same plate. Not even re-dressed. We thought the chef either didn't know how to handle items sent back or it was a big FU to my wife for asking it to be prepared to a different temperature. Keep in mind the burnt piece of something right on top (see the picture). Later in the meal the manager Billy came to the table and asked if we needed anything. He was gracious and very helpful. We informed him of my wife's meal and he kindly removed the dish from our bill. We told him he didn't have to do that but he insisted. He was very kind. Dessert was very good. Some of the best creme brûlée we have ever had (and we've had it many many places). Also the dark chocolate lava cake was surprisingly good. The oysters and the desserts are the ONLY reason we are giving two stars and that may be kind. Not certain.

Got the calamari for the table to share and was not impressed. No flavor there at all and the small bowl of sauce that came with it was bland . We had to ask for lemon to give it some flavor. For main dish I got the tuna and my husband got a filet. My tuna was good but his steak was meh. Like the ambiance.

Very good! The service, atmosphere, and ambiance are especially good for a restaurant in this area of PA. Kevin's won't disappoint!

That said, my first impression of this place was "dirty." We sat at the bar, and there were approximately a dozen stools with 3 customers seated. The bar top was full of crumbs. Looking behind the bar was disgusting with what appears to be oil/dirt build up on the refrigeration units. The bartender handed us menus that were sticky, and pages were sticky together. Desperate for something to eat where everything around us was closed, I walked back to the restrooms, which were surprisingly cleaner than the bar. There was also a young man cleaning tables and floors in the restaurant. I thought for a moment it would be ok. We went ahead and ordered a couple of items. Beer was cold and didn't appear to be floaters. The lemon in my wife's drink looked ok too. Then from our angle at bar, we could see into the kitchen where the floor was littered with food, paper, etc. This made us uneasy. Food came out, my burger appeared to be a pre frozen patty, and overcooked. The rest was ehh. But seeing and experiencing the filth prejudiced anything we would do from then on. Finally, our server while attentive and quick to get our order in and delivered, should be doing a better job keeping her immediate area clean. We will not return.

The extensive menu features a variety of brunch options, salads, and sandwiches. Their veggie options are a bit limited, but definitely present (ex: falafel salad, avocado toast), and many of the dishes feature unique combinations and homemade sauces/aiolis. I landed on the Smoked Salmon Avocado toast, which was fine. I was disappointed that it seemed to be made with prepackaged guacamole/avocado (I'm sure for cost reasons), and the bread was pretty thick so it was challenging to eat. Flavor-wise, it was solid, but I think I'll try one of the other, more creative options next time. My cousin chose their turkey sandwich and seemed to enjoy. It was large enough that she took half home! Our food arrived before our matcha lattes, so we wound up asking for to-go cups. The matcha itself was delicious, though sweeter than we anticipated (in retrospect, we should have realized that a "white chocolate lavender matcha macchiato" would be pretty sweet!).

As those who follow me know I rate each grubbery on its own merits. Each stands alone. This spot definitely does. And I'm so happy it does. Also know that I rarely give 5-Stars. This spot deserves it because it is obviously proud of what it does. I came across this restaurant on YELP with no posts...no reviews...no pics. NOTHING but the address and contact info. Usually I simply swipe past these and go to places reviewed. I kept coming back to this spot wondering why no one had commented. Not a one!? Anyway, I called and made a reservation. We arrived and were quickly greeted and seated. Jennifer, the server, was great. She took our drink orders - Pina Colada and a Corona. Mom loved the Pina Colada and the Corona was almost frozen! Perfect. When I saw listed on the appetizer/salad section an Octopus Salad my eyes widened. The reason being that as a child my mother made an incredible octopus salad. It was one of those dishes that stuck with you. But, I have never ordered it anywhere and enjoyed it. Except for tonight. The Octopus Salad I am EXCELLENT starter. It was super tender. It was not fishy. It was truly amazing. Me and my guest really REALLY enjoyed it and will definitely have this the next time we return. Delicious!! I also ordered the Coconut Shrimp appetizer. The surprise here was the Orange Marmalade served as a dip. It was great. For dinner I ordered the Mofongo w/ Lobster - Mofongo made with chicharron, and the Fried Red Snapper - 1.5 lbs was served with Tostones & a Small Salad. I also ordered the Veg of the Day: Broccoli & Carrots - cooked perfectly and tossed in a garlic butter sauce. Everything...EVERYTHING WAS DELICIOUS!! I could not believe it. Each dish served was equal if not better than the previous one. The Red Snapper was crispy and seasoned perfectly. The Tostones were crunchy on the outside and pillowy on the inside. The dip served - a garlic mojo - was awesome. My mom's Mofongo was also very very good! She did have a little trouble with the lobster tail. My suggestion to the chef and management is that they split the shell to make accessing the lobster meat easier. It was a chore. Make it easier. The entire dinner was exceptional. Truly. We were very happy and will make this a regular grub spot. I asked to speak to the cook. Her name is Elba. She works dinners. Ask if she's present and let her know you were sent by the Puerto Rican Chef. Server Jennifer was very friendly and courteous. The best thing was that dinner was not rushed!! I hate when I'm eating a course and the next course is brought out. She was super professional and accommodating. The decor is festive!! It's super clean!! There is plenty of parking. The music they play is apropos for this establishment. I believe it was heavy on Bachata. There is a full bar. And here's another great surprise - they have outside seating! But, wait!! The outside patio has a few "igloos". Private seating for nights where the weather doesn't let you sit outdoors. Each igloo sits up to 8 people. You can dine outside in the cold weather because the igloos" are heated!! Yes. HEATED IGLOOS you dine in! Pretty cool!! What a wonderful surprise this place has turned out to be. We will not only be back but we will also be telling our friends and family that THIS should be a stop of theirs...regularly. Come check this Latino/Peruvian/Dominican grubbery and truly enjoy the flavors.

Welcome to the Friday pizza night everyone. Tonight, I am back at a place where you would not really think of getting a pizza.
