I haven't been here in 7-8 years and for good reason. The food is bland. I had a chicken burrito and my children had the tortilla soup. Worst soup I've had in awhile and worst burrito I've had in years. The chicken was dry and tasteless. Even their pico de gallo was a let down. I like the attempt at keeping things simple but this one falls flat. The staff seemed disinterested as well. I would really love if they would either shutter their doors and make room for something else or totally revamp the menu. If I may suggest implementing pepper, cumin and garlic to start! Their location would be excellent for a quality restaurant. It's surrounded by great places like Eclipse Pizza, Yogurt Beach and Franz's Backstrube Bakery. Sigh. read more

I used to love this restaurant...recently, it seems that they have become super cheap, almost to the point of embarrassing. I bought a coupon book that had Buenos Grill coupons in it. One of the coupons I came in to use was a "Buy One get one 50%". I go to use this coupon, order two burritos with salsa, guac, sour cream and cheese. They take $4 off of my total. Meaning, they don't take the 50% off of the entire burrito. they take the 50% off of the "stock" burrito. Anything you add to it, isn't technically included. My bill was $20, therefore, I got $4 off. Pretty cheap if you ask me (especially considering how much you pay for a simple burrito). Also, their frequent buyer card states this: "buy ten tacos or burritos and get one free. One stamp per visit please". Does anyone else see the problem here? So, I went in and bought 3 burritos. Got one stamp. Instead of honoring the first statement on their frequent buyers card, they are sure to honor just the second. Very cheap. I have just had it with this place. If you want to buy local, but you get this kind of BS, why would you come back here. read more

This saddens me more than I can say. To say that a local restaurant is sub par is awful. Had fish tacos...the fish was cooked so long it was hard. Ate one, starving, took the other back to the counter. Expressed that the fish was hard, as if it had been microwaved, and had no salt. "Oh we don't cook with salt"...WHAT? There was another couple in the restaurant, a total of 4 people eating there on a Saturday 12:30PM. REALLY? A beautiful set up, a great grill, where the fish could have been grilled, rather than taken from the freezer, and microwaved. 3 people behind the counter, and fresh tortillas couldn't be made? Really? I make fresh tortillas every time I cook tacos, AND I'M A BLANCA! The reason the place is dead empty, the food is terrible. Mango salsa, taking mango from a can, and mixing it with salsa from a jar is NOT FRESH!!! I repeat myself, 3 people behind the counter and one person couldn't make ANYTHING fresh? I do realize, I'm a Chef, and work off a food truck, there isn't a microwave on either of my trucks. Either fresh, or not. I lived in Ensenada, had AMAZING sea food, that you are claiming to be serving. Sell/give the business to someone who really wants to cook, and create. You a have a beautiful kitchen setup, there is NO EXCUSE for poorly made food, NONE! Just ate dinner there with friends and it was a very pleasant experience! I had a small snafu with my salad (forgot to add the avocado) but the staff was more than happy to bring it to me after the fact. My friend was also charged for 2 salads in accident and the cashier noticed and came over, apologized and gave her the cash back. Oh and the food was so yummy! We will be back soon! read more

This five star rating is long due for several perfect menu items, sweet neighborhood location, friendly staff, and beautiful NV scenic photography decorating the walls. The menu items I have to have on a regular basis are all 3 varieties of fish tacos, and the coconut crunchy tofu taco (flour shell recommended!). Many Yelpers have commented on the salsa not being salty enough. Here is my solution: Salt shakers are on every table, so salt yours accordingly! Stopped in for some fish tacos but changed to a Steak Burrito and Ono Burrito. I decided to get some Chips and Salsa for 2.50 also. Should have waited as chips do come with the meal. Traveling through Reno and stopped at Buenos Grill for lunch. WOW, I loved the Tostada salad with grilled chicken. Generous portion and the price was reasonable. The staff was very friendly! We ate outside in the patio and were pleased with their quick service. We will definitely be back! We highly recommend them, easy access from the freeway! read more

I came to this restaurant upon recommendation from my friend. I read the reviews and felt that I had to go because she recommended it... I was sorely disappointed the salsa was terrible, the chips were old and bland, kinda like the rest of the meal. The only thing that was even slightly redeeming was the good coconut shrimp. Went to Buenos grill about a week ago and had a terrible experience. The owner had a group of his friends in the resturant and was letting all of the kids run around the restaurant and were screaming. When I went to complain to the girl behind the counter she informed me that the party who was being loud was the owners friends and that there was nothing she could do. It would have been a different situation had the owner come over and apologized and informed us that his restuarant welcomed that kind of an experience but instead decided to mock us. This is the second time I've been disappointed by this business, so I decided this time I'd write a review.. Came here with my boy friend to grab dinner and was extremely disappointed with the service. Spent $30 plus a generous tip for two burritos that were wrapped terribly. My boy friends burrito came out with the tortilla ripped to the point where it was unable to stay together, he then asked for the cook to wrap it in a new tortilla. The cook stared at the cashier (saying something under his breath) and then looked at my boyfriend and proceeded to LAUGH in his face. The cook then re-wrapped the burrito and threw the tray in the bus tub making a scene. The cashier gave us back the burrito and neither of the employees apologized for the inconvenience. Then the cook continued to tell the other line cook and cause a scene while we finished our meal. We both have worked in the food industry for a long time and this type of behavior would have never been acceptable. 1 star because 0 isnt an option. We will never return here.. read more

As a first-timer at Buenos Grill, I didn't have the same flavor issues as other reviewers had. I liked my taquitos and grilled fish burrito with mango salsa, and there were no complaints from the rest of our table. The margaritas were pretty tasty, but maybe a bit sweet and made with too much orange juice. Overall, the service was good, and the place was very clean. They also had a good choice of beer and tequila (including Chamucos, which can be hard to find). I'll have to go back sometime to check out the other menu items. read more

This is a hidden gem for the Old SW of Reno. We've lived in the area for 4 years but just started visiting Buenos Grill about 1 year ago. And I must say "Why the heck did I not come here sooner!" I love this place! And for those of you that are new to Reno if you like the fish tacos & nachos from Rubio's then you'll love this place probably even more. The food has been reliably good for years. The Baja Burrito was always my favorite, but I've switched to the veggie only because I'm eating less fish. Both are great. Disgusting food and very expensive. $5.25 for a single taco and some chips that are hours old. Jimboys or Del Taco even Taco Hell is a better choice. Food-OK nothing special though Service-sometime too laid back Atmosphere-great (that's why we go back here) By the way, they do have stamp card for regular customers but you only get a stamp PER visit not per entree (which really ticks my hubby off). God awful fish tacos and service. The decor is nice and open, almost a little TOO spacious for me. Nonetheless, it's very clean and colorful. They claim to have the "best fish tacos in Reno!" WRONG. I've never had more bland tasteless fish tacos in my life, especially for that price. $5 for a taco and some GREASY fried chips? $2 for a drink from the soda machine? The fish tacos at Bully's are 1000x better at a fraction of the cost! SO disappointed! The best thing I had was the salsa, and even that wasn't so great. Let's not forget about the service. The self-serve thing is neat, but the guy behind the counter? NOT so neat. First of all, he's probably the most awkward server I have ever met. He just seemed really confused with the fact that I was ordering, and when he brought our order to our table, he just stood there and looked at us. Like can I help you? I didn't get any words out of his mouth, he just gave awkwardly gave us the food. On top of the gross food, the bad service made our time much more unenjoyable. I will not be coming back. Terrible experience, teenagers working at this place , kid at the register takes my cash, then proceeds to make my burrito without washing his hands, I refused to eat it. Tried it another time (like an idiot, yes) and orders churros for my kid, I watched the cook accidentally flip one over the stove falling behind it. Now there are three teenage boys laughing and trying to retrieve it. After about 5 min. They get it out and believe it or not they put it on the plate to give to us. I keep trying to like Bueno's but the owner, Greg, makes it impossible with his better than everyone attitude. That being said, my burrito tonight was wrong twice and the second time he was just put out when I returned it. Then it was just not good- beans undercooked, chicken overcooked, 1 tiny shred of cheese (for which I paid extra) and no sour cream (also an extra charge) even though he said 'there's some in there- just not very much'. I have to admit, given the reviews I was worried about coming. I used to live nearby and this was my all time favorite spot for healthy and delicious Mexican food. That was in 2003 and Greg knew my order when I walked in the door. It's still amazing! Delmar Burrito with black beans add mango salsa and hold the rice. Still awesome! Fish is fresh and cooked perfectly, chips are crispy and the Chipotle salsa is my favorite still. Perfect blend of spicy, smokey and a little sweet. Since I live in the neighborhood near Buenos, I have eaten there several times. The last 3 times I have been extremely disappointed in the service and attitude of the owner. Tonight was the final straw. My 2 small children and I stopped in for a cheese quesadilla. Nothing fancy but dinner out followed by Yogurt Beach across the street was their reward for good behavior. We ordered and waited patiently talking about our day. Then I noticed that people who arrived after us were already eating. I looked at the time and realized we had been waiting for 30 minutes for a simple, cheese quesadilla. I went to the owner, told him the situation, and asked him what happened to our order. His reply was, "I don't know." I asked if he could figure it out. Again he acted like it was no big deal. He told me he would put our order in now. I told him I would just like our money back because we were leaving. He gave me the money back but not the tip that I gave when ordering. When we left we saw people we knew sitting outside. They arrived after us. They told us about the free, cheese quesadilla they were given. We told them what happened and they were shocked. They let us know that they told the server they didn't order that but the server said,"keep it. It's extra." I then went back and told the owner about this. He blamed the customers saying they took our number and put it on their table. Not true. We had our number on our table the whole time. Then he blamed them for not returning it even though they tried. I just left as I was getting no where with him. I would have been happy with a sincere apology instead of attitude, excuses, and blaming others. read more

Last time I went, 1/2 years ago, was horrible. The cashiers dealt with out cash then didn't even wash their hands when going to cook the food. Not only that, I ended up ordering a churro, while we are sitting there waiting for the food, already disgusted, the churro somehow falls behind the oven so they start trying to grab it with kitchen utensils!!! I swear, they were going to try to give me the churro that fell behind an oven! Not only, I bet they didn't clean those kitchen utensils either.
