    Salt & Pepper Spare Ribs
    Michael T.

Have you ever seen something on Yelp or Instagram that you just had to get in and get immediately? Well, that was my first time last week and the culprit was the salt and pepper pork ribs at Crawfish Asian from the first scene with the beautifully Crispy golden brown ribs being walk tossed to the final elegant plating on the black ceramic dish, it all just screamed delicious, so when Friday hit, I knew what was for dinner! These babies lived up to the visual Hite. Meaty crispy, tender, juicy, all piled high, and then showered with Crispy, fried garlic and freshly shaved jalapeños. The social media post suggested getting it with rice to heat up all the extra crispy, garlic and jalapeños, but I just ate those of my fingers and by the way you need to make sure to ask for a side of the house chili oil because it is the perfect dip to complement these golden brown ribs. For once, I didn't overheat coming here because I came in only to order one thing. And that one thing wasn't an absolute winner and you should get some on your plate! If you're not following this page on yelp or this restaurant on social media, you need to be because it'll put exciting new dishes on your radar that you won't be able to deny yourself.

Why do I forget how great this spot is ? It's not that far from home, and very near the airport. Before leaving for Europe I met up with friends for dinner here on a week night. Service was great. Food delicious. We each ordered a dish that sounded good, but smorgasbord every dish. Short ribs were tender. The duck rich and savory. Seared ahi appetizer was huge, glad we all shared. Perfect sear. The halibut cheeks arrived sizzling, and I believe we may have fought over the last bite. Located in the Costco shopping center, it's far enough away not to deal with their parking. On the east side of the strip mall with easy access parking out front.

Service sweetest and attentive , crawfish combo silver bag was delicious , cost better than San Francisco prices. Ambiance family welcoming , I would love to thank the young mother who offered me a hair tie when I didn't have one.

As soon as we walked in we were greeted. Place is very clean. The food came out fast and everything tasted really good. Everyone was very friendly.

Had dinner with my family and had great service! The restaurant was clean and seating was comfortable. They have a great menu with all sorts of items. Food was more geared towards the western palate and was a tad saltier than my preference, but I am sure I can ask for less salt. I would certainly give them another try again. My kiddo dropped his fork twice and the employee was so kind and helpfully replaced it each time with a smile. Items ordered: Halibut cheek clay pot- Good amount of fish and loved the crispy texture. Crispy noodles with chicken- Nice crispy noodles and plenty of chicken Seafood tofu soup (small)- Perfect for a cold day and not too salty. The amount was good enough for my family of 4 to have 2 bowls each. Garlic noodles- Nice garlic flavor and not too greasy Mushroom with tofu- A tad salty for my taste but I enjoyed the textured and different types of mushrooms Thanks for the great service and family friendly atmosphere!

These are the king crab legs lol DO NOT TRY THIS.

Service was fantastic. Drinks are good. I will say DO NOT COME if you think your going to get anything Cajun. I was hoping for some king crab legs but see the Pic . I hot small tiny little legs. Cajun sauce has no flavor at all. Its all butter. Needless to say I had 2 bites and couldn't eat anymore. I gave 4 stars because the staff was so friendly.

We had such a wonderful experience here! Our server, Hennessy, was incredibly attentive and detail-oriented--he made us feel so well taken care of throughout the night. The food was absolutely delicious. The Peking duck was perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, and I loved that the buns were assembled tableside--it made the whole experience feel special. For my entrée, I had the chow fun, which was packed with flavor and cooked perfectly. The interior is warm, welcoming, and elevated, making it a great spot for both a casual night out and a special occasion. I'm already looking forward to coming back soon!

Crawfish always has great food and service! Our all time favorites are the salt and pepper calamari, braised pork belly, garlic noodle and all of their fried rice options are great too! This is my go to place for comfort food.

Goopy lobster noodles. No lobster in noodles just what's on top. Overcooked lobster tail split into two.

I did extensive research before coming to Crawfish Asian Cuisine. Yelp shows a 4.3 rating with nearly 1,000 reviews, and after fighting my cravings for far too long, I finally decided to come in and see what the hype was about. We came in on a Tuesday right after opening, and the restaurant was quiet. There were only a few tables seated throughout our entire visit, so this was not a busy or rushed service. The service was very attentive. Our water glasses were refilled constantly, sometimes when they were barely halfway empty. I understand the intention was good and clearly meant to be thoughtful, but it made the experience feel a bit tense rather than relaxed. A little more space would have made the meal more comfortable. Unfortunately, the food did not meet expectations. The whole grilled squid looked promising when it arrived, but the first bite told a different story. It was extremely overcooked and very chewy, to the point where eating it felt like work. Squid has a very narrow window for tenderness, and this missed it completely. No amount of slicing or lemon helped. The green sauce added little to nothing and did not improve the dish. This was a hard 0 out of 10, and I would strongly recommend skipping it. The oysters were better, but still underwhelming. They were served hot and very garlicky, which initially sounded appealing. Unfortunately, the sauce was surprisingly watery. I was expecting something richer and more cohesive, closer to oysters Rockefeller. Instead, it tasted thin and unfinished. Not bad, but disappointing. I would rate these a 7 out of 10. The garlic lobster noodles ended up being the best thing we ordered, which says a lot. The noodles were coated in a thick, cornstarch-heavy sauce that quickly turned sticky and goopy. Flavor-wise, it was mild and forgettable. The lobster itself was overcooked, stiff, and slightly fishy, which was disappointing, especially given how quiet the restaurant was at the time. There was also very little lobster meat mixed into the noodles, as most of it sat on top rather than being incorporated throughout the dish. For context, I am very familiar with Hong Kong style cooking, especially from South Sacramento, where this cuisine is done properly and consistently. Rich sauces, balanced seasoning, and properly cooked seafood are the standard. Unfortunately, this meal did not meet that standard. By the end of the meal, a clear pattern emerged. Proteins were consistently overcooked. Sauces were either watery or overly thick, with very little balance. Presentation was fine, but texture and execution were repeatedly overlooked, which matters most when seafood is the focus. I wanted this place to live up to its rating, but based on this visit, it did not. I recommend ordering these same dishes for yourself and seeing what you think.

Drove by this place numerous times, and this evening decided to stop in and eat. I will start by saying the staff is very attentive. Every time my drink was down to half a glass, the waitress topped it off. Any questions about the menu the waitress answered. The food was hot delicious when it came to the table. The serving is enough for two people to share. The menu is full of options for everyone. The dining area is warm and inviting. For the service combined with food, we paid a very good price. Will definitely return to try different options on the menu.

Is this place permanently closed? I called about a dozen times on different days and weeks to order takeout but no one answered the phone. Then one time i even stopped by and it's closed. What's going on?

Went last night, it was awesome! Keep trying, maybe there were just busy or can't hear? with background noise, TVs and customers.

Yelp says the restaurant is closed and there wasn't any answer on the phone. Are they still doing takeout during the shut down?

They now completely closed with a sign indicating per Washoe County they will remain closed until further notice. :(

    Do they have lunch specials?

Most of the lunch menu is discounted usually runs about 9-11 bucks. You get a good discount on appetizers. During lunch it's $5 poke cup and discounted oysters.

What time is their happy hour?

    4-6 pm M-F. Go!

The portions were generous with plenty of leftovers to pack up in takeout boxes for enjoying for another day. My favorite three were the ahi tuna, the black cod and the brilliant asian/french mash up of red Bean Creme Brulee. I also need to mention, I loved the lamb tenderloin. I am not a big lamb fan, but this New Zealand lamb was tender and non-gamey. The owners did an outstanding job of timing the dishes and engaging with our group while also taking care of other diners including non event patrons getting getting take-out and inhouse menu dining. The space is very small, but even with and almost full house, it didn't feel cramped. To start, you can't go wrong with the enthusiastic welcome we always receive. Then quickly seated and wine poured. The 2026 CNY menu was fabulous, with some great surprises. The ahi tartare portion anywhere else would have been a shareable appetizer. But each person was served a large portion of delicious fresh ahi. Mmmm this course and a glass of wine could be dinner alone any other evening. The soft creamy rich egg custard was hidden under a thick seafood gravy. I really enjoyed this unique dish. The miso black cod is always flaky and delicious. And the crab fried rice it's nestled on also never disappoints. The rich New Zealand stir fried lamb and shiitake mushrooms over pea shoots was a fabulous hearty dish on this chilly March evening. The braised short ribs were so tender no knife was needed, they flaked apart with the fork. And the e mein noodles were perfectly al dente. The dinner wrapped up with a crème brûlée that only Kwok's could pull off - red bean. Creamy smooth. Not overwhelming. The perfect burnt sugar layer on top. The regular menu is just as delicious. Small inside seating area, so recommend always make a reservation. In the summer there's a fabulous patio area out front. Limited street parking.

Unfortunately, the flavors were quite different from what I expected. The food wasn't bad, but it tasted different from what I'm used to. Usually the ones I've had in Asia are very savory. I've even had zha jiang mian in Alameda, California, and that version was savory, not sweet at all. At one point my husband even wondered if they might have accidentally used sugar instead of salt. The mapo tofu was also a bit too sweet. The best one was the beef noodle soup. In case you're not aware, though the name of this restaurant references a specific city in northern China and the menu has dishes from across the country, their specialty is the spicy and numbing cuisine of the Sichuan region. If you've never had this before, when you see dishes listed as spicy, they may be very different from what you're thinking. It's certainly can be a polarizing experience, with many loving this flavor and many not into it at all, but the broad menu makes this a great call for everyone. Now I love dining with others who are familiar because it lets you explore the menu through their eyes and enjoy selections made by others with taste diverse from yours. My friend picked several dishes I would've never noticed or ordered blindly this time, and I'm so happy about that. We enjoyed the cold Woodear or black fungus in chili oil, classic snow pea tips with garlic, as well as the quintessential Sichuan cumin lamb, but the other three dishes we had were 100% new to me. Those included Sichuan snails (unshelled in an oily spicy stir fry), scallops with garlic and vermicelli, and crispy spicy intestines. The snails were a win. These are small and somewhat chewy morsels that get wok fried with fried chili, chili oil, peppers and onions. The texture is similar to sautéed calamari, but a bit firmer, and the sauce coats everything with that signature numbing heat. The scallops were the big miss. This dish typically comes in the half shell with fresh scallops, but here they're using a lower quality scallop (likely frozen) and a lot of pre-minced garlic (like you'd find in a jar). It looks impressive but the scallops had absolutely not flavor and the texture was rubbery too. Skip this one for sure. The intestines were the surprise. I've had fried intestines and they crunch like a chip and have no distinct flavor that lets you know what you're eating. These were sliced on the bias and wok tossed until super crispy on the outside with a delicately chewy interior. The sauce really amplified the flavor and this all made for a great bite within the whole meal. All in all, this is a home run. If you haven't been, I urge you to check it out, as it's one of the best authentic Chinese restaurants around.

Tucked away in the back of an unassuming shopping mall is Chinese cuisine well worth making a trip for. I was immediately greeted when I entered, and started with some hot tea. The intestines came out crispy and piled high with red fried chilis and szechuan peppercorns. I am a huge spice nut and this absolutely hit the spot! (If you have a low spice tolerance you may want to ask for less spicy as the server did not ask how spicy I wanted it). The cucumbers were the perfect accompaniment to balance the heat and numbing from the chilis. When I first looked at the menu, I thought the prices were a bit high. After seeing the enormous portion sizes, it all made perfect sense. There was easily enough for 2 full meals for me (245lb, 6ft3in man with an appetite). The portions are clearly designed to be shared. On that point they also feature traditional Chinese style banquet seating with the lazy suzan in the middle for family style eating. All told I was extremely impressed with the food quality, service, portion sizes and ambiance. I will absolutely be adding Shanghai Bistro to my regular rotation!

The banh xeo I'm giving a 6/10 because the it wasn't crispy but the meats was good and it was large. It came with lettuce and herbs. Shrimp and lobster sauce was good that was 8/10. The rainbow roll was 7.5/10.

The menu is humongous. Dim sum, Chinese, sushi, Vietnamese, with lots of choices from every part of the menu. I started with the crab Rangoon's, and they were very good. The filling was a little bit sweet, and a little bit savory, and the shell was well fried, crispy, and not oily at all. They were offering a BOGO on the combination plate, and so that's what I went for. I had the garlic chicken, and the chicken with seasonal. Veggies. On both dishes, the chicken was moist and tender. The veggies were done well. Just the right consistency, not mushy at all. The taste was great. The only thing I could say, was, the garlic chicken was a bit spicy. About medium on what I like for spice, you could definitely see the red pepper flakes on that food. Unfortunately, nowhere in the menu did it mention the spicy part of it. I did like it, and the spice was within what I like, but I think the next time I would order something else. The fried rice was very well done with a good flavor also. It was just the rice. It had no egg or veggies in it. I had enough for two meals on the first combo, and the second one went into my portable cooler, and is going home to Sacramento with me. For all I got, the price was extremely reasonable, even if I would've gotten only one combination. Thank you very much.

This place really stands out for both the quality of the food and the authenticity of the flavors. The dishes taste fresh and homemade, with the kind of balance of spice, sweetness, and flavor you expect from real Thai cooking, not watered-down versions. The curries are rich and flavorful, the noodle dishes are excellent, and the spice levels are done right if you like authentic heat. Our waitress Nid was great, friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is casual and comfortable, and the service is friendly and welcoming. Overall, Moo Dang Reno is one of the best Thai food spots in Reno and definitely worth a visit if you enjoy authentic Thai cuisine.

I then had to fight to flag a waitress to ask for chili paste to get any heat in my entire dish. I like that there are veggies with it and the noodles have a good chew, but I've found zero dishes with anything near Thai spices here My partner got the pad thai, which was sickly sweet yet didn't taste like tamarind, fish sauce nor contain pickled veg. The wood ear in it was excellent, but I've never seen it in pad thai. The thai ice tea was good, maybe a bit heavy on sweetener. I don't understand the high ratings here, based pireh on food. Thai Chili has far better flavors, and is rated lower. The wait staff/food runners lacked politeness, and never checked if we enjoyed our food or needed anyone. Sans the person filling everyone's water, we were never checked on in any other capacity. The restaurant was a cacophony of noise and conversation, I had to lean across the booth to have any chance of hearing my companion. The noise level is overwhelming if you have sensory issues at all. The decor is pretty cool.

My wife knows how much I love Chinese food, so when she came across a TikTok review of Palais De…read moreJade, she asked if I had ever been. I hadn't, but I had definitely heard of it. We decided to make it our next date night spot. We went on a Friday around 5:30 and it wasn't very crowded yet. They asked if we preferred a table or a booth, and we went with a booth near the front. The restaurant itself is really nice, but I'll say the booth felt a little tight. Next time, we'll probably go with a table for a bit more space. The service was top notch. The staff was incredibly attentive, and our drinks were constantly refilled. Our glasses were never empty, which always stands out. About 15 minutes after we sat down, the place filled up fast. It seemed like most people coming in had reservations, so I'd definitely recommend making one if you're planning to go after 6 pm. We decided on the Shanghai Dinner. I ordered the sweet and sour pork, and my wife got the sweet and sour chicken. I was tempted by the cashew chicken and kung pao chicken, but we'll save those for next time. The appetizers were amazing. The meal comes with spring rolls, crab rangoon, paper wrapped chicken, and honey glazed BBQ spareribs. Everything was delicious. My wife loved the paper wrapped chicken, and for me, the ribs were the standout. They were tender with just the right hint of sweetness. Honestly, I could've eaten a full plate of just those and been happy. For sides, I had the egg flower soup, which was really flavorful, and my wife had the salad. She could not stop talking about how good the dressing was. Both the sweet and sour pork and chicken were great. The sauce had that perfect tangy, slightly sweet flavor. That said, next time we probably won't order the same sauce for both dishes. I think pairing something like sweet and sour with kung pao would give a better balance with a little heat to cut through the sweetness. Overall, this place is a winner. Great food, solid portions, and the price is very reasonable at about $33 per person for the Shanghai Dinner. My wife enjoyed everything so much that after seeing another table order the duck, she's already talking about coming back to try it. I've been trying to get her to try duck for a while, so I'm looking forward to that next visit. We'll definitely be back.

When some asks about bona fide Chinese dining that I always suggest PDJ first. The experience is sit down, formal, and shockingly consistent. The service level makes you think you are dining in this families home. The food is still the star of the show. The Peking Duck and Seafood Birds Nest are highlights. In reality, no matter what you like and spice level you are comfortable with you can't go wrong here. If you want to impress your lunch date, colleagues, or treat your loved ones, bring them here. The parking lot is cramped and gets busy during peak times. Thank you and congratulations on more than 35 years in Reno.
