Moved away, came back 10 years later and this place still is hands down the best Thai restaurant in Reno. Always loved the atmosphere here and the welcoming staff. Ordered the moo todd for appetizer and a pad see ew with tofu and of course to end the meal, mango sticky rice. Yelp Review -- Moo Dang My hubby and I decided to try Moo Dang after seeing it featured on an episode of a series we watch, and we were definitely curious to see if it lived up to the hype! When we arrived, it was BUSY, which I always take as a good sign. We got a pretty small table, but honestly, that was fine. They were clearly packed and staying busy. We were seated right away, our drink order was taken quickly, and our food order followed shortly after. We ordered several things so we could try a little bit of everything: Pork Belly Stir-Fry -- This was SO good! It had chili paste, oyster sauce, and green beans, and it had a pretty good kick to it. The pork belly is fried, and it was incredibly crispy and delicious. If you like spicy food, definitely try this! Moo Dang Soup with Wontons -- My favorite! I LOVE soup, and I absolutely loved this one. I could honestly go back just for the soup. It was flavorful, comforting, and the wontons were a great addition. Crab Fried Rice -- Really good! My husband especially loved this one. Drunken Noodles -- These were tasty and definitely good, but probably my least favorite of everything we ordered. Still enjoyable, just not something I was as excited about as the other dishes. Thai Tea with Boba -- Unfortunately, this was a miss for me. The boba wasn't good at all, and I ended up barely drinking it. I took it home thinking maybe I'd enjoy it later, but I tried it again and still didn't like it. Eventually, I just tossed it. I definitely wouldn't order this again. Overall, the food was really yummy, and the staff was super friendly. The service wasn't the absolute best, but it was decent, and considering how busy they were, I wasn't too bothered by it. BUT... consistency was an issue. We actually went back later that same month because my siblings wanted to try it. Naturally, I ordered the Moo Dang Soup again because it had been my favorite thing from our first visit. Unfortunately, it was noticeably different the second time. The noodles were different, and the soup just wasn't the same. I was honestly pretty disappointed because I had been looking forward to having that exact soup again. I'm not sure if it was a different preparation or just an off day, so I would probably give it another try before completely writing it off. Despite that, I definitely recommend Moo Dang! If you like spicy food, the pork belly stir-fry is TOP NOTCH . And if you're a soup lover like me, definitely give the Moo Dang Soup a try! Mud dang is always a good idea! It's a restaurant. I wish I could get two more often and every time I go I'm reminded exactly why. This is some of, if not the best Thai food in the Reno Tahoe area and if you haven't tried it yet, you are seriously missing out. People always ask me why I say that statement was such certainty and it's because Chef Opal really goes the extra mile to bring our community new and authentic flavor. She started with her Thai noodle soup soups, which have been a main stay on the menu since they opened in overtime, she's expanded those offerings to include many of her favorite dishes from back home. It's hard to pull away from what's beloved, but I find myself trying harder and harder to look at the new additions and choose one each time I go. That's why I largely prefer to go in a group because it means we can order more things lol! This last time I saw a seafood curry on the menu and had to go for it. At $30 I was a little unsure if it would be quite the value but let me tell you this thing was loaded with high-quality seafood. Big chunks of crab, giant, prawns, and large pieces of calamari steak made this extra special. The sauce was a yellow curry that had a slight sweetness, and it was chock full of scrambled egg that added richness, and of course you could add as much spice as you'd like. We are back and lovin' it! My plan was to have leftovers and let me just tell you the fried rice for breakfast was awesome. That all started the afternoon before with shrimp garden rolls with peanut sauce, Moo Dang fried rice, satay chicken and drunken noodles. (There were two of us just so you know). The fantastic fried rice was not new to me but had never had drunken noodles. That's the last time I make that mistake. It was a fantastic dish. Our server was helpful and fun. I don't know why it has took me so long to try this place. I have heard nothing but good things. I was not disappointed. I came with a group of friends so. I was able to try a couple things. The pad Thai was flavorful but a bit sweet for me. I added their chili oil and it made such a difference. I'll order it but with more spice next time. The Panang curry was good with lots of veggies. I ordered the coconut soup. If you like coconut soup this will hit the spot. My son ordered mango sticky rice for dessert. It was delicious but could use more sauce but that's just my preference. A friend of mine ordered the crab fried rice. I don't get a picture but that dish definitely stole the show. It had lots of crab mixed throughout and some on top. Dang the decorations with the old Kung Fu movie posters is dynamite! The staff is friendly and attentive. This place is nestled in a small shopping square with other restaurants. It is a 10 minute drive from the airport but the food sells itself. The food and drink menu here has depth! Chicken satay is tender and juicy! Papaya salad delicious and fresh. The Reno CM Michael T. ordered for the table a number of various dishes and none disappointed! There was so much food but it was my favorite way to eat. I have always had consistently good food here, so I was really surprised when I got my to go order home and the curry I ordered was bad. The sauce was broken which left a greasy and clumpy mess. It was not edible. I am very disappointed that the chef thought this was ok to package up and serve. With a curry sauce that badly separated it should have been remade. You might think to yourself, pork skewers and drunken noodles...how good could those be? Stop, drop, and roll people, these are also elite. The texture of the noodles were textbook, while the skewers retained so much moisture and depth of flavor. Papaya Salad is one of my favorite Thai dishes. Here we were presented with a fried version. I had no idea you could fry papaya! Shows what I know! This was incredible and unlike anything I've had before. Just sensational. The restaurant resides in a humble strip mall. The environment is homey and lively. The people are beyond friendly, and the food is nothing short of a 5-star knockout. First time here and I had pretty high hopes. When you walk in, the place is eclectically decorated and has a fun vibe. Service was quick and friendly, which I really appreciated. I love Thai food, but unfortunately this just didn't fully hit the mark for me. The fried rice was good and probably my favorite dish we ordered. The kra-pow spicy basil with pork belly was just okay -- the pork belly was very crunchy and almost overcooked and dry, which isn't how I'm used to having it. By the time we headed out, the place was packed with people waiting, so going a bit earlier on a weekend helps. The space is roomy and has an easygoing feel. Thai photos and posters fill the walls, and the mix of tables and booths makes it comfortable for groups or a quick dinner. Service was great from the start. Everything came out quickly, and the staff stayed friendly and attentive the whole time. The food was the highlight. The Lad Na had a warm, savory sauce that coated the soft noodles nicely, and the vegetables were fresh with a good crunch. Big fan of Moo Deng (the baby hippo in Thailand) and Moo Dang! Was pleasantly surprised to find an authentic Thai spot in Reno, and this spot is definitely popular for good reason! When you walk in, you're greeted with a cute street cart with dangling cooked meats (which I presume is used for food festivals/catering) and a very authentic scent of Thai dishes. The interior is very unpretentious and simple, and despite having a busy flow of customers, the restaurant is large enough where it's pretty easy to get seated quickly. Food does take a while (as in 20-30 minutes) to come out, but it's definitely worth the wait! We ordered some basic staples - tom yum soup, pad Thai, and tom yum fried rice. The pad Thai was my favorite, with a flavorful sauce and succulent prawns and chicken. The tom yum soup and fried rice are also solid, albeit a bit too savory (for me) and too tomatoey (for my boyfriend). We finally tried Moo Dang for lunch after hearing about how good they are. I must say that we waited too long to try them! Moo Dang is such a cute establishment with Thai posters all over their walls. They were busy with patrons so it took a few minutes before we were greeted with menus. We tried their Tom Yum soup, Drunken Noodles with shrimp, and Mango Sticky Rice. The Tom Yum soup was intensely flavored: spicy, sweet, savory. I loved how pronounced the lemongrass and basil was! The Drunken Noodles were really good, too. Great balance of flavors and ingredients. And, the mango sticky rice was excellent: the mango was ripe and sweet, the sticky rice was soft and flagrant. Came here on a Saturday afternoon and it was surprisingly not busy. I ordered the nam tok and sweet chili wings. The nam tok was the best I've had anywhere so far. The spices they used made it so flavorful. The beef was so juicy and fresh as well. The wings had a nice sweet flavor. They weren't spicy at all. One thing I didn't like was that the plates for the appetizers were visibly dirty and still had food on them so I didn't even bother to use it. Overall, the food was delicious, especially the nam tok, which really stood out. While I enjoyed the flavors and the relaxed atmosphere, the dirty appetizer plates were disappointing and took away from the experience. The curries lack the flavor profile that you may have experienced at top notch Thai restaurants, but that's the situation at any Thai restaurant in Reno. Ditto for the soups. They offered insight on the menu and checked on us several times. Our glasses were filled continuously and table bussed regularly. We elected for medium spice which waitress said was a #2. It was good, but we did also add some chili oil and crushed peppers to the dish so we probably could have did a 3 or 4 on their heat index. (You just never know and it is safer to start and build the heat.) We would drive here just to eat this again! So so good! The food was unfortunately a big let down, this is my 2nd attempt to like Moo Dang, but my drunken noodles had absolutely zero chili in them. I then had to fight to flag a waitress to ask for chili paste to get any heat in my entire dish. I like that there are veggies with it and the noodles have a good chew, but I've found zero dishes with anything near Thai spices here My partner got the pad thai, which was sickly sweet yet didn't taste like tamarind, fish sauce nor contain pickled veg. The wood ear in it was excellent, but I've never seen it in pad thai. The thai ice tea was good, maybe a bit heavy on sweetener. I don't understand the high ratings here, based pireh on food. Thai Chili has far better flavors, and is rated lower. The wait staff/food runners lacked politeness, and never checked if we enjoyed our food or needed anyone. Sans the person filling everyone's water, we were never checked on in any other capacity. The restaurant was a cacophony of noise and conversation, I had to lean across the booth to have any chance of hearing my companion. The noise level is overwhelming if you have sensory issues at all. Upon entering I am always impressed with the friendly service, clean environment and fresh food. It is located in a large shopping center not to far from downtown, and I would say easy to find. Seating is comfortable and they are open for lunch and dinner. Today we ordered the Beef Larb and the chicken Drunken Noodles. Our waitress recommended we try the white sticky rice. This was the first time my husband and I have ever been offered the white sticky rice verses steamed and we were ready to try it. She mentioned that in her hometown in Thailand the sticky white rice was more commonly used than the regular steamed. Our dishes came out together shortly after ordering and we dove in. The drunken noodles consisted of a generous portion with fresh bell peppers, onions, garlic and basil. The stir fry was perfectly seasoned without feeling too oily or overcooked. The Beef Larb was our favorite. You could really taste the combination of mint and cilantro and it was served with a crispy side of iceberg lettuce. The beef was tender and cut into bite sized pieces. The sticky white rice was quite the surprise. it came inside a bag enclosed in a small wooden circular container. As I was eating it alongside my entrees it made sense that the bag would keep the rice moist and sticky. i would definitely have that again with entrees in the future. For dessert we tried our fave, mango sticky rice. Always delicious, without it being too sweet. It perfectly satisfied our sweet tooth. Everyone on here said it's the best spot for Thai food. I haven't tried any other Thai place in Reno but this was soooo tasty. I ordered takeout and it came so fast. The girls are friendly and provide great service. The food comes out fairly quickly. I think this place on the top restaurants I love to visit and they're usually pretty busy. We have been interested in trying this restaurant for a while based on recommendations and reviews. Just the number of Michael's reviews is an indicator of the quality of their food. The ladies serving us were friendly and efficient even though they were initially very busy. The lunch crowd quickly cleared out. We both ordered Pad Tia as having missed having a good dish of it since moving to Reno. It was very good, a bit expensive, but worth it based on portion size as we both made another meal of the leftovers on the next day. The shrimp was delicious and not overcooked too. We will be back to try their soups etc during cooler months. The restaurant is pretty large and very clean with an appropriate ambience. To say I've been wanting to come here for a long time is an understatement, but finally made it this weekend. We were greeted by friendly staff and seated right away. The ambiance is unremarkable, but does display pictures and other Thailandish decor. I love the cart at the entrance! My husband and I shared several appetizers and actually remembered to check-in and request the Fish Balls. It worked...they were FREE!!! They were served with a Tamarind Sauce with crushed Peanuts, which was really good and the right amount of thickness. We also ordered the Calamari and Fried Spring Rolls. I found both to be lacking a bit in flavor and the Sweet Chilly Sauce on the watery side. My main dish was the Kra-Pow, Spicy Basil Stir Fry, with Chicken. Now this was tasty!!! It wasn't at all spicy (which I liked) and also found that it wasn't overly sweet. I would order this again in a heartbeat. It doesn't come with any rice though, not even white rice, so you will have to order that separately. Fortunately, it was all a generous serving, so I did get another meal out of this.
